Synching iTunes with iPod

Recently, I have added the lyrics to a couple of songs in my iTunes library using the "Get Info > Lyrics tab > Paste" way. I was just wondering if there is any way I could "update" them on my iPod so that the lyrics appear on the device too. Actually, I assume there is one, I just can't find it yet.
Note: My iPod is not synching automatically, I use the manual way.
EDIT: I have another question, but this one is not related to the one above.
Each time I turn my iPod off, I always go back to the beginning of the song I was listening to, then I turn it off (I hate starting in the middle of it, just a bad habit, I guess). Is it normal that when I turn it back on, the song always begins at 0:01 instead of 0:00? It's pretty annoying...

As of question 1, I have decided to set my iPod to "autosync", so now this is solved.
But I was wondering, when you add files to your library, is it possible to disable the transfer to the iPod (in other words, can you add files with the little box beside the song title unchecked)?
Because last night, I thought that "Autosync" was designed so that every single song you had in the library would automatically be copied to your iPod, so I removed the ones I did not want from my library. But now that I know the truth, I want to bring them back to my library without unchecking them all, one song at a time.

Yesterday 20 november I have made some purchases in Ittunestore. The download went well. Till the synch of itunes with ipod. Some of the downloaded music did noch synchronize. The message was: the ipod does not support the file format (mp4). Strange, right? All the rest of downloaded music items has been synchronised without any problems. What may be the problem?

For music files purchased via the iTunes Store, Apple has used the following file extensions -
.m4a unprotected AAC format music files
.m4p protected AAC format music files
    .m4b protected Audio Books
.m4r unprotected ringtones in AAC format
As you can see Apple have never used .mp4 for music files via the iTunes Store.
For videos Apple use .m4v and these are in H.264 format.
You could try changing the file extension to .m4a, first then see if it plays on your computer and then try re-synching it.

  • Using ITunes with Ipod Mini

My wife and I both have Ipod Mini's using separate Music Libraries(like it that way) . The problem is if she's logged in and iTunes is open when I switch users and log in and try to use iTunes I get a message. It saids something along the lines of iTunes is being used by another user and unable to open. When I click ok iTunes goes away. I have to have my wife logoff to use itunes with my profile. I would think under XP you can run iTunes separately.
    Thanks for the help.

    Fast user switching
You cannot use this with XP and iTunes. Disable it under start/control panel/user accounts/change the way users log on.

  • Load new computer's itunes with ipod songs

I want to load iTunes from my ipod onto a different computer than was used to originally create the ipod playlist. Is this a problem?

The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide

  • When I synchronize iTunes with iPod the number of items is different

Once i finish the synchronization there are less items in the iPod than in iTunes. What can I do?

Do you by any chance have "only update checked songs" enabled in your iPod preferences? If you do then make sure that all the tracks in iTunes have a check mark against them. If you Command+click the checkbox next to any song in the library that will uncheck them all. Command+Click again and they will all be checked. Then update your iPod and see if that does the trick. You could also turn the "only update checked songs" option off if it does happen to be on and you don't want to use it. You'll find it in iTunes>Preferences>iPod>Music tab.

  • Synching iTunes with my iPod/iPhone

Something that is killing me. In my iTunes library there's a category called "Top 25 Most Played", which is updated by the times I listen to the songs in my library. When I synch my iPod/iPhone and look to this list in my devices I see that the songs are completely different when comparing iTunes list x iPod/iPhone. I restored both devices and the problem still persists. Any suggestions?

every time you listen to your ipod it changes them, because you are out numbering the past played. Answered?

  • Sync itunes with ipod, imac and macbook air with iCloud

First post this for me in this community so hope format and protocols are okay....however, just installed Lion on my MacbookAir and hooked up to iCloud, then installed iOS 5 on my ipod 3rd gen via my imac (currently running Snow Leopard).
So far so good, re installation of itunes on my ipod was almost seamless and pretty painless, also hooked up to iCloud. Then purchased a couple of Apps on the iPod and noticed an almost immediate upload of the same on my iTunes store running on my iMac - Not yet installed with Lion and therefore not (as far as I was aware) hooked up to iCloud.....is this not a bit odd ??
Even odder perhaps is that the same apps have not shown up on my iTunes running on the Macbook Air.....perhaps explained by the following ??
A further problem is that having recently copied purchased CD content to my iTunes on my iMac, and then synced this to my iPod, once I connected my iPod to my Macbook Air I was told the iPod was synced to another iTunes library (presumably that on my iMac) and so was not able to complete a sync unless I erased the iPod library.  Does this mean that I actually have two active iTunes accounts sotospeak, one on my MBA, one shared between my iMac and my iPod ?  If so, how do I convert this to one running on all three and if that is possible, presumably the issues of syncing between all, and of downloading apps from iCloud will be resolved ?
Any clues or advice on how to sort this would be much appreciated.  Thanks.
Guess also worth noting that all three devices are authorised but I'm wary of re-authorising upon erasing itunes libraries (unless of course the limit of 5 authorisations is not meant to limit the number of times this is done - but simply the number of authorised devices active at any one time).

By subscribing. There're a lot of factors involved during a download: Network speed, computer used, iTunes availability etc.

Well, it depends on how big the podcast is. The bigger the longer.

  • Synching iTunes to iPod

My nano 8gb is synched with my iTunes back home. I'll be in Europe for a few years and have a new pc. with a new iTunes, which is empty.
Is it in any way possible to upload the songs on my nano to my new iTunes, instead of having to synch my nano and lose all my songs?

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
    SharePod is also freeware.

  • Synching ical with ipod

when I synch my ical with my ipod I can't get my "notes" for an event to show up on more then one line. I tend to have quite a few notes that would be nice to access. Is there some way to put "enters" into it so it's readable on my ipod?
    Thanks!

I don't have Leopard yet so it can't be that. I can't get my notes feature to work right either so I can't even use that instead. Guess for now I'm stuck with the old paper printer option....

  • Error message when syncing Itunes with Ipod

I bought a new laptop and it has Vista. I have downloaded Itunes 8 and updated QT.
When I try and update my Ipod it wants to delete all files and replace as it used to be synced with my old PC.
I get part way through and get an error message -1303 and then the sync terminates. It did this with only 300 tracks from the 2600 available to download.
Any ideas what the error number may relate to? I have searched all over apple site but no easy reference to this.
    Any help much appreciated

  • Spinning wheel of death when try to sync itunes with ipod

I've had no bother from syncing my ipod until today and then for no reason I now keep getting the spinning wheel of death.
When my ipod is connected and on auto sync mode it gets recognised, says it's syncing and then totally freezes. The only way to get out of this is to manually remove the ipod and force quit itunes.
I've tried starting itunes without auto sync on, which works ok until you decide to move any music content across. For some strange reason it was ok about transferring podcasts but just refuses to transfer music content.
I've uninstalled itunes 9 and reinstalled with no effect. I've restored the ipod to factory settings which all it's done is now cleaned the ipod of all content and won't transfer anything. I'm using a mac with OSX Snow Leopard.
    Can anyone help?

I think your problem is different to the OP's - in your case, did you check the format of the drive before you began using it? It's possible that it's formatted as NTFS or FAT32 out of the box, and you need to reformat to Macintosh Extended.
But this wouldn't apply to the OP's as he already had been using his drive for a while with no problems, although maybe permissions and/or ownership got scrambled.

  • Syncing with iTunes with iPod after a massive iTunes rebuild

I have alot of music so I had to put my music on an external hard drive.  When my WD external hard drive died, I had to rebuild my iTunes from my iPod Classic.  I was able to copy most of my media back to iTunes by turning my iPod back into an external hard drive and then recopying the id tags back to my iTunes library.  The remaining media was copied back to my iTunes library using a third party program named TouchCopy 11 from Wide Angle Software.  This entire process (recopying media and relinking the media from iTunes to my iTunes library) to restore my iTunes library back to pre-crash level took two days.
So when I finished, I then synced by iTunes library with my iPod.  HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!
My iPod overrode my iTunes library and totally erased all of my efforts over the past few days.  Now my iTunes library has over 1000 broken links and I have to begin from scratch (recopying media and relinking).
After this process is done and my iTunes library is rebuilt, should I then restore my iPod to factory settings thereby erasing the iPod memory and then copy my "NEW" iTunes library back to my iPod.

OK, so here is my problem.  I did originally download the Beta 10.10...  Apparently I kept on getting betas and was running 10.10.2 (which today is still in beta).
I did downgrade to 10.10.1 (by clicking "Download" in the App Store).
Right after the downgrade everything with syncing works perfectly.
    Cheers, hope this helps someone.

  • Problems with synching iTunes with AppleTV

    Hi,
I am frustrated and cannot find help elsewhere, so I hope someone can help me here....
I have 1st gen AppleTV with the latest SW. My iTunes is version 10 on my iMac.
For some reason all my music, photos, etc have disappeared from the Appletv, and it now has only the purchases I have made via Apple TV.
When iTunes starts to synch, it appears to try to first transfer the purchases from Apple TV to iMac. For some reason this transferring does not work well, and purchases do not get transferred to iMac. iTunes just has a message "Transferring Purchases from "Apple TV. Copying 3 of 25: <name of the show>". Even if it indicates that the 2 (of 25) would have been transferred, they have not. This can go on for ever - all day, over night, just does not transfer the purchases.
QUESTION 1: why does it not transfer the purchases??
I would have patience to wait for the transfers as I don't need them in my iMac (yet), but in the meanwhile I want my music and photos back from iTunes to AppleTV. This synching does not work because it is trying to transfer purchases from AppleTV to iMac.
QUESTION 2: how do I stop transferring the purchases and get the music and photos synched with AppleTV? Disk space on AppleTV should not be the issue, there is plenty of space on my AppleTV.
Any one, please, make my day!

Have you tried restarting everything including your router, you may want to try relinking the library and apple tv.

  • HT1386 Syncing iTunes with iPod issues...

When I sync my iPod touch with iTunes it does not organize my music correctly. For example under one artist only one album will be shown when actually I have three in iTunes. But when I look under the albums category they all appear. How can I fix this?

There aren't any issues with the new iTunes. You need the most recent iTunes to sync your iPod
