Synching my iPad to Laptop (Windows 7) Causes a Hard Down

I synch my iPad to my work laptop (Thinkpad). Since upgrading the OS to Windows 7 the synching operation causes my laptop to spontaneously shut down during Step 4 or 5. Has anyone else had this happen and is there a cure?

Yes, I have the same problem. It seems to be related to synching photos (although during the update to 4.3 I also experienced the same shutdown).
The event log indicates that it a thermal problem - there is someone with a Dell with a similar problem.
I have tried setting iTunes to use only one processor, but during the photo processing stage iTunes opens new processes, one per CPU.
To date I know of no workaround so currently I have no phots on my iPad (shame).
This only has happened since upgrading the iPad software - a real shame really. When one "upgrades" one generally assumes that this will bring a benefit - but so far the Apple upgrades have done anything but. If it wasn't for the fact that I bought a printer, I would set my iPad back to the original OS and leave it at that.

After reviewing your post, it sounds like the iPhone will turn off after a sync but the iPad will not. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

Keynote synch with iPad and laptop

I see there are several apps for Keynote and the iPad. Is there one that is best? I'm looking to do presentations with my Keynote slide notes with me up front on my iPad while my laptop is in back attached to a projector. I also want to controll the keynote through the iPad. Are there apps that can do this and which one is best?

Assuming your desktop is Windows Vista or Windows 7? Have you changed computers? Do you use Palm Desktop, or Microsoft Outlook? When was the last time you Hotsynced to your computer?
Perhaps you used Palm Desktop 6.2.2? Select the Support tab at the top of the screen, click on Handhelds, and look for Palm Desktop 6.2.2.

ITunes synching my ipad bookmarks continuously.

I'm trying to synch my ipad on my Windows 7 64bit PC before I upgrade the IOS5 (what a pain that looks likely to be) but can't even get it to finish synching in iTunes (version 10.5.0.142) ) before doing that.
It seems to stick on synching the bookmarks and lingers there (not frozen) with the timer turning continuously. I assume there is some conflict. All I an assume is that because I've probably updated th bookmarks in my PC (Internet Explorer 9) and iPad separately since they last synched then the sysnching has gotten confused. But, how do I resolve this problem as I need to move on? Bookmarks are only step two of six in the synching process so it's very frustrating.
The iPAD's general setting says it's Version 4.3.5 (8L1) though i'm not sure oif thats the IOS version (if not then I don't know where to find it)

I've have eventually upgraded to iOS5 (after many unsuccessful attempts) through iTunes by (with great reluctance) switching off my Kasperspy Internet Security software just before the download completed and then turning it back on again afterwards, and then doing a scan.
It seems to work though I have still have the original problem of not synching Favorites / bookmarks with Internet Explorer. I've had to disable this synch aspect so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If they were taken with the iPad, simply plug in the iPad, and it should appear as a regular digital camera in Windows Explorer or in Control Panel/Devices and Printers.
You can then either use the Scanner and Camera Wizard, or simply open the DCIM folder and drag the pictures to which ever folder you want them in,

If you haven't already done so then download and install iTunes : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Add the songs into your computer's iTunes via File > Add To Library
Connect the iPad to your computer and select it on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Music - if you select that tab you can then select which of your iTunes music to sync to the iPad (it should sync to the Music app on the iPad).

Why is it that when I synch my iPad with itunes, the purchased content still (especially music and movies) have again to download on the iPad eventhough the content has been downloaded to itunes already?

But where are you seeing evidence of that? Explain what makes you think that they are being downloaded from iCloud? Do you see a cloud icon next to the music and movies on the iPad? That simply means that they are available in iCloud for you to download without having to go to the purchased tabs of the stores on your device if you want to download them again.
You can turn that off in Settings>iTunes and App Store>Show All>Videos>Off and Music>Off.

Syncing my iPAD and laptop

I presently have a Blackberry, IPAD and laptop.
I have signed up to mobile me in an effort to synchronise my diaries, contacts, etc but am unaware if the Blackberry is causing the problem. Can I get just the laptop and IPAD to sync using mobile me and if so, how?

Hi and welcome.....
MobileMe does not support Blackberry. If you are using Bluetooth on your Blackberry, turn that off if it's in range of your iPad.
In order to sync your MobileMe account with your iPad, you need to sync first with your computer.
Connect your iPad to your PC. Launch iTunes. Make sure iTunes recognizes the iPad under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window. Select the Info tab from the menu. Select the Address Book Contacts / Calendars / Mail Accounts. Click the Sync button bottom right side of the iTunes window.

I am unable to install itunes 10.4.1 on my dell laptop windows 7 64 bit:
i have tried to install itunes on my windows 7 64 bit dell laptop, and everytime it says installation successfully installed, but i can't find the files anywhere in the computer, i searched all the locations, desktop ... but nothing found.
Troubleshooting Done:
- Tried different itunes versions; didnt work.
- Tried to install on different locations on my computer.. C:, D:... didnt work.
- I empty Temp files from all users on my computers who are (Me & Admin) only; didnt work.
- i removed all related apple files; same.
- Uninstall all apple related support ... etc..; didnt work.
- I have Admin access to all my files and also tried to install from Admin account; didnt work.
I don't know what else i can do, please advise me on how to fix it, i need to backup my iphone & ipad ASAP.
Please contact me via email, phone anytime and as soon as you can.

Tried your advise but that too failed. Problem still continues. Again that same error "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor".

Ipad recognized by windows but not in itunes

When i connect my ipad to my windows 7 computer, only the computer recognizes the ipad. It does not show up in itunes. I have a different computer that does recognize it in itunes though.

IPad Photo Transfer: Windows Vista Digital Still Camera Driver Failed

Hi,
I am trying to transfer photos from my iPad to my laptop. When I plug it in to the laptop the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver installs successfully and the Digital Still Camera driver fails. I have previously transferred photos in this way without any problem. When I plug the iPad in to the laptop it does not show up in 'my computer', the iPad is on and the screen is unlocked. Autoplay is on but no menu appears to transfer the photos. The photos I want to transfer have been taken on the iPad. It shows up in iTunes as normal. I can transfer photos from my iPhone to the laptop without a problem.
This is what I've tried:
- uninstall iTunes and reinstall
- restart the computer
- turn iPad on and off
- uninstall and reinstall apple device driver (even though it was up to date and said to be working as usual)
- plugged it in to an old laptop (windows xp) and it worked as expected
- checked for usbappl.syn in C:\Windows\system32\drivers and it is present
- uninstalled all Apple content from my laptop and reinstalled it all again
- repaired the Apple Mobile Device Support program
Any help would be much appreciated, it is driving me crazy!

I've had similar problem with my Iphone 8gb 1.1.2 OTB and Windows Vista right from when i purchased it. I tried calling Apple support and tried out all the things that you've done so far and got fed up with it. Now I download my pictures using a third party software called TouchCopy. Apple was not able to identify the issue but it certainly an issue with the OS and not the Iphone. It works like a breeze with my Windows XP PC at home but my laptop doesn't recognize it and it just gives "device installation failed". But curiously for sometime like 15 days ago, the device driver got installed but still I didn't get the camera icon in MY Computer... So if somebody could help... great!!!
And Hail Vista because I've had several driver issues like these and my antivirus is OneCare so I don't think Microsoft could complain about my installations.

i too have had my laptop stolen and am trying to get my itunes from my ipad onto my laptop (i have window 8, so all very depressing situation at the moment). the music i have put on my laptop from cds is also not going over onto my ipad. I have just purchased a new ipod and am too scared to put music on it from my ipad or laptop until the two are synced.
how the **** do you match them up?
am need my music sorted please help
