Synching photos from a select folder via iTunes on my Windows 7 PC

I copied many individual photos from different folders into a special folder on my desktop.  I synched up, clicked on "selected albums...", clicked on this special desktop folder, and then "Apply."  Only about 20 of 170 photos made it into my iPad however.  How can I transfer all the photos to my iPad?

This worked, thanks!  But now I have a new problem.  I carefully ordered the photos (by re-naming them, and then sorting them alphabetically by name in ascending order) so they would appear in the order that I liked, but the photos on the iPad are in a completely different order.  How do I fix that?  How does the iPad sequence photos?  Do I have to re-order the photos in the folder so they appear in the same order in the iPad?  If so, how?  Thanks

  • Problems syncing photos from iphoto to ipod via itunes

I have been having some difficulty getting my itunes to sync iphoto contents to my ipod. This worked fine for ages, but has just stopped working. I can sync photos from a standalone folder. Following a discussion on the ipod forum (for full details see: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1872524&start=0&tstart=0 ) we have established it is something in the iphoto library that is causing the problem. A new library works fine, but switch back and itunes does not recognise it. I am hoping that someone here can help me identify what could be causing the problem.
    Any thoughts welcome.
    Duff
ps I have also posted this in the iphoto forum, see here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1876616

Resetting your iPod puts the iPod's software in factor default. It doesn't erase anything. Restoring the iPod erases your iPod's content and puts a fresh copy of the OS on it. Restoring is a more extreme way to solve a problem. Use restore if a reset doesn't work. If a restore doesn't work, then its not likely that a reset would help. Sorry for the late reply, I was busy with classes. Cheers mate.

  • Possible to sync photos from Aperture to iPod via iTunes?

When I used iPhoto, I set iTunes to sync photos from the iTunes Library with my iPod. Now that I use Aperture, there is no equivalent option to have iTunes look at the original photos in Aperture and copy them to the iPod so I can view them.
I can copy a Vault from Aperture to the iPod, but that's like copying any other data file -- it is stored, but photos cannot be viewed.

Well, that was an interesting idea, Colin, but it didn't work. I opened iTunes, and then dragged the Aperture repository into it. It seemed to acknowledge it (when I dragged it onto iTunes, the "dragging" icon wasn't x'ed out), but it didn't add anything to the library.
If you try to do an "Add to Library" from iTunes, and then navigate to the Aperture repository, the repository folder is grayed out. It can't be selected. Same for a backup Vault created from Aperture.
Thanks for the suggestion, though. It's always worth experimenting. (Assuming everything is backed up. )

  • Photos from Aperture not syncing via iTunes?

    Hi:
I use Aperture to catalog and edit all my photos, and I post some stuff to Flickr.  I decided I wanted all my Flickr content on my iPad and iPhone, so I went to the Flickr project in my library, selected all the photos in a given set, and created an Aperture album from them.  Quick side note which may or may not make a difference - not all my photos in Flickr were posted through Aperture (some came from other sources, etc.).  When I open these albums in Aperture, I see jpegs of all the photos I snagged from Flickr - so far, so good.
Now - I fire up iTunes and tell it I want to sync selected albums.  I pick all the albums of photos from Flickr.  I sync - and for a couple of the albums I get a few shots (3 from one album, 2 from another, etc.) - but I can NEVER get all the photos synced to my devices.
I've tried regenerating all the previews in Aperture, and I've also tried deleting the iPod Photo Cache file in the Aperture applib package.  No joy.
Curiously, I have absolutely no problems syncing with some old photos I have left in iPhoto.  I'm half tempted to export my Aperture albums to iPhoto then sync with that - but that's too much of a manual workaround, and this should just work from Aperture --> iTunes.
This is driving me nuts - any help/advice would be appreciated!

    Same problem here...
But how did you set the 'Previews to Share with other applications' ? I still get this message that I have to set the Previews to share with other apps. This is an option in Aperture but I can't find it...

  • I got my ipad 2 yesterday.  I am trying to transfer photos as albums to ipad via itunes. I put the photos in a file with sub-files as I was told. The all tranfer but into one album. Is there a way to do what I am trying?

I am trying to tranfer photos from pc to ipad via itunes. I put the photos in a file and sub-files in order to tranfer them as albums: an main album with albums within. All the photos tranfered but into only one album. Is there a way to do this? Is there an app that would help. Also, I tranfered two albums into iphoto. I edited a photo in one album which created a new album of edits. I have removed the photos form the album but I am not able to delete the album themselves. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am having the same problem and it is even bigger.
When opening a 1-page PDF in iBooks and sending it via mail it is sent inline as preview, but the recipient cannot open the file anymore. Also on iPad and iPhone there is no "open in" possible.
Somehow the mail app does destroy the file. What is going wrong?

  • How can I delete previously itunes synched photos from my ipad 3 now that I use the cloud instead of synching via mac/itunes?

how can I delete previously itunes synched photos from my ipad 3 now that I use the cloud instead of synching via mac/itunes?

You will need to connect your iPad to your computer, and on the Photos tab de-select those folders that you no longer want on the iPad - they can't be deleted directly on the iPad. If you no longer want any synced photos on your iPad then you can select and sync just an empty folder.

I reloaded iTunes 10 (64 bit) successfully, but the problem remains the same.
    Any suggestions?

I looked in the folder from which I want to synch photos, but there is no such thing as an "ipod photo cache" in that folder, or sub-folders, as suggested in the link which you were nice enough to provide.
I have also tried removing photos from my iPad2 Photos App, and "iTunes has stopped working" shows up  again as soon as I click on the "Synch photos from" button.

  • IPhone Cannot Synch Photos from iPhoto

    Hello,
I have my iPhoto (and iTunes) library on an external harddrive that I connect wirelessly to thru my new airport extreme. I use my MacBook Pro to synch my iPhone. My iTunes videos and music synch great, but when I select the photo albums I want to load onto the phone, iTunes "thinks" for about 45 seconds, and then gives me the warning,
"The iPhone 'Ryan's iPhone' cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found."
Is this a problem with the iPhone? I have loaded photos in the same way from my MacBook onto my iPod and it worked fine... Is this due to the fact that I am connecting to my photo library via a wireless connection?
Any advice would be much appreciated!
    Ryan H.

I am synching photos from Aperture. The photos are on an external hard drive but it is connected to my computer (G5) via firewire not wireless. iPhoto worked as well but most of my photos are accessible via Aperture.

How do I synch photos from my pc to my ipad?

You have to place the photos into sub folders and then place those folders into a main folder from which you want to sync - using iTunes. This article explains how to do it - step by step.

  • Synching Photos from Computer - deleting all apps?

I want to synch photos from my computer to my new iPad for the first time. When I choose "synching photos" and go to "apply" I get a Message that all apps on my iPad will be deleted. I don't understand the connection to the apps. How do I get around that? Thanks for any assistance.

Connect you iPad to your computer and launch iTunes. Then from the iTunes menu at the top go to File>Transfer Purchases. This will place all of your purchased content - apps, media, songs, etc, into your iTunes Library on the computer.
Then click on the Apps Tab in iTunes on the right, Check the box next to Sync Apps, then make sure that you check the boxes next to all of the apps that you want to keep on the iPad, Go through all of the other tabs in the iTunes window and make sure you select all of the other content that you want to sync - and remember to check the headings (Sync Music, Sync Movies, etc).
Click on apply and all of the content that you chose to sycn will now be on the iPad.

  • TS2755 My friend sends me photos from his iPad 2 via email. However, when he come to my iPad 2 inbox, the photos do not show up. Instead I get 20-some characters. What is wrong? Please advise.

My friend sends me photos from his iPad 2 via email. However, when they arrive in my inbox on my iPad 2, the photos do not show up. I receive 20-some characters. Please advise as to the problem.

Try sending them via the Messages app as opposed to E-mail.
E-mail shouldn't normally be a problem, but Messages will do as a soloution.
    To do so:
    . You need iOS 5
    1. Go to your Photo Gallery
    2. Open up the album/ images you want to send
    3. Press the share button (top right hand corner)
    4. Select 'Send as Message' (not e- mail)
    5. Select your friends Apple ID from your address book for his iPad
    6. Voila!
    - it's something along those lines...... my iPad is downstairs atm, but the actual way of doing it will be similar...... !

  • Only a few of my contacts transfer from pc to ipod via itunes

    Hey,
Suddenly when I do the ipod sync I only get about 20 contacts, out of about 1000. All the contacts are present in the windows address book. The only thing I am doing differently is using Zindus which syncs all my pc's (Thunderbird) address books and google contacts. I then manually export the Thunderbird addr. book as an .ldif and import that into the windows addr. book, prior to doing an ipod sync. The problem started after I started using Zindus. They are trying to help resolve it, but since all the contacts look fine and all pc's, google, and in the win addr. book, it seems like either the file is corrupted and itunes can't process it or ? Have looked at the .ldif file and it looks ok. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Any ideas what's happened?? and how to fix it? By the way the windows address book looks ok,
i.e. has all the contacts in it.

That sounds right. If you're positive pics aren't deleted, there could be something wrong with iTunes. I'm using the same version (64-bit 12.1.1.4). Although iTunes runs fine on my Win 7, I can't sync some random photos. iTunes sync completes successfully but a few photos that I choose to sync never get synced to the device.
You can try deleting iTunes cache (should be in the same folder where you pics are stored) and resync.

  • How to upload photos from the modified folder?

I'm modifying my photos in photoshop CS3(which now is no more an option to open my photos for editing from Iphoto, why?).
Once modified, they live in the modified folder in a folder I created, they are not visible in the menu located in the left side of IPhoto viewer.
So how am I uploading this photos on my .mac website.
    Please advice, thank you
    Caril

    Caril:
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
I'm modifying my photos in photoshop CS3(which now is no more an option to open my photos for editing from Iphoto, why?).
That's because you're probably saving the edits incorrectly.
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
So to recover those edited photos from the Modified folder you'll need to open the library package like shown here. Then very carefully locate those files and copy them to the desktop. The reason I said copy is to make sure you don't accidently move the wrong file to the desktop and thus damage the library. If you're absolutely sure you have the correct edited file then you can move it to the desktop instead of copy. But do so at your own risk.
    Happy New Year
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Which operating system are you running on?
How are you trying to open the photos?
    - from windows explorer? - double licking or right clicking and selecting Open with?
    - by loading the editor and go to File -> Open?
Looking back at your other threads you seem to have had this problem before - what keeps changing?
