Synching problem with 3G

I was synching my 3G and it was interrupted, iMac message said it couldn't restart the synch because another synch was already in progress. Now the phone won't power off, the little circle just keeps spinning. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Sorry I knew it was likely you would already know that but I thought it was a good idea to mention the most obvious thing first.
I've had a look through the various discussions and found someone else that was having the same problem. Apparently they deleted the pics from their computer backing them up onto a USB or disc. They then deleted all of the photos on the phone. After this they restored the photos on the PC they also removed any video files that where in those folders. The final step was getting rid of the iPhone photo cache. They then resynced their iPhone and it was fine.
It seems long winded to me but I just thought I would let you know. It's worth a try :)

  • Synching problems with pages and numbers

After an initial problem with synching which was resolved with Yosemite Pages and Numbers have been synching across all my devices for a couple of weeks and now all of a sudden they have stopped again!! They synch across my phones and iPad but not to my macbook pro!! Very very annoying! How do I resolve it?

Found a solution, but it is odd:
On the 2008 Mac Pro, I UNCHECK the boxes beside Pages and Numbers in System Preferences > iCloud > iCloud Drive > Options. Now Pages and Numbers will properly save edited documents to the appropriate folders on iCloud Drive.
    Go figure ...
Hope that this helps someone else.

Trying to synch my calendar on a 6300 with Lotus Notes v7 HF277 L-GHUS-5RWNHM with PC Sync v 6.86.9.0.
When trying to Synch the process fails with following error message :
Calendar Incomplete. Unable to process all items.
The calendar sycn was working fine for several days and all of a sudden the synch started to fail. No updates to phone or Lotus Notes occurred during this period.
Can you advise how I can force replication from Lotus Notes to my 6300 phone or overcome the problem above ?

Hello, I am meeting a similar problem with my N95 and Notes V7 Calendar.
The feature used to work with my N95 until very recently.
Synchronization of the list of contacts does work but the calendar stopped working.
    Here are the problem symptoms
Nokia PC Suite opens Lotus Notes V7 and seems to be scrolling entries while displaying a counter being incremented against a total number - in my case the total number is 779.
When the first counter reaches 760, the dialog stops resulting into the 2 following synchronization msgs:
PC Sync has encountered a problem and has terminated the synchronisat
    and
    The synchronisation has been aborted.
    I observed that
Deleting one calendar entry reduces the total number from 779 to 778 - unfortunately the the scrolling still aborts before reaching the 778 number.
Reducing the  calendar synchronisation window to the bare minimum (1 day before / 1 day after) does not change the scrolling process (ie. the whole 778/779 entries seem to be scrolled) and the process keeps aborting.
I have the following software configuration:
    Nokia PC Suite is 7.1.18.0
    Lotus Notes is 7.0
and I updated the phone software with latest firmware available on the Nokia site
I have been a very happy user of the N95 Calendar function until now.
    Would anybody help here ?
    Kind regards.

Not sure what you just wrote.
You can use your iPod on any computer.
When you connect it to iTunes for the 1st time on a computer, it will ask if you want to link the iPod to this library. If you say yes, it will simply Automatically update everything when connected to this computer.
You don't need to delete anything from another computer.

  • Solved synch problem with iphone 2.0 outlook 2007, win XP Pro and Mobile Me

I've been struggling with this mobile me business, and I hope that I solved it for me and therefore for you. I have the components listed above. I noticed that my iphone was no longer synching to outlook '07. Can't remember if that was before or after I updated to iphone 2.0 Regardless, neither the dock nor the mobile me synch worked. ( It would go through the motions of the synch, but then when I went to look at the phone, it had not changed at all. )
In reading the posts, it appeared that all of the solutions pointed toward a corruption in the pst file. Most of the solutions are based on the fact that there is some item in the calander section ( or the contacts) data that is corrupt. Fortunately, I have a proprietary calander in my office and I use outlook as the conduit for getting that info onto my iphone through itunes. So, I deleted all of the appointments in outlook and then tried to synch a blank outlook with the iphone and it worked! So, all I had to do was then resynch my office proprietary software back to outlook ( which worked ok) and now it's working fine. In fact, that solved the mobile me issue as well....
So, I hope this helps you out there..eveyone's case is different, but it does appear that if you've reinstalled itunes, reinstalled outlook and tried everything else, that the problem resides in the pst file and there is some appointment or contact that itunes does not like.
    Hope this helps.

  • Outlook 2007 contact synch problems with iCloud

Running into difficulties synching iCloud 1.0.1 contacts with Outlook 2007.  It freezes/crashes outlook quite regularly. The contacts properly synched the the first time but now I'm getting "Couldn't save changes to x items" when Outlook tries to synch with iCloud. The reason given for a particuliar contact is "got no rsrc name for msg?!".  If i try again, same message. The other option it to 'delete' which then deletes the contact(s) showing up in the error message from icloud folder in outlook but does not affect them in iCloud. I have no contacts in the default outlook folder. I am only using iCloud contacts on PC and iphone 4s.
The iCloud addin is enabled for Outlook. I removed "contacts with outlook" in the iCloud control panel and re-enabled but this did not fix the problem.
Any suggestions? I've searched for this error message apple's support but do not find any matches.
    Thanks,
    Rick

OK, I bit the bullet and manually did the only "work around" that I could come up with. When the message, "got no rsrc name for msg?!" comes up I manually noted the 10 contacts at a time from Outlook that were giving problems and choose the only option which did something - I choose the "delete" button. It deletes those 10 contacts from Outlook's iCloud.  Taking note of which ones i deleted, then, using my iphone - I located those contacts in the iCloud (as it doesn't delete them from the cloud, but neither are then in Outlook) and made a small modification to each one - e.g. adding a period in the note field, saved and exited the contact. Then I went back to Outlook and refreshed from the iCloud. Sometimes you have to wait 3-4 mintues for the update to come through. If you get a message about a new batch of 10 contacts that have synch error problems, you will need to "X" out and close the dialog box. Sometimes only a few of the modified contacts come through and you need to go back to the cloud via phone a modify those straggler contacts again (adding another period, etc.)
Once all the previously deleted contacts come back into Outlook's iCloud folder, check them off your list as complete. Refresh iCloud on Outlook (mine has a button for this at the top of Outlook bar). You should get your next batch of 10 conflicts.  Go thru the WHOLE process for ALL of your Outlook contacts.
I am pleased to say this consumed half of my Saturday doing this incredibly boring and tedious workaround for an obvious bug.  I had about 250 contacts. I pity anyone that has 500+ contacts...you many as well throw the PoS phone out and go with an android.
Problem fixed, no more Outlook crashing/hanging or contact synch 'errors'.
    all the best....

  • Synch problem with iPad/iTunes

Hi, this may be outside the subject area of this forum so if it is just tell me and I'll ask in Apple Land.
As I've been setting up my network under the suggestions of Keith Beddoe and I've got my network up and running it seems worth asking here first!
I'm happy with my new net but I've got something odd happening that I didn't have with my old setup.
I have an iPad and I used to turn it on, open iTunes on my desktop and they could talk to one another wirelessly. I also use various apps which want to synch with my desktop too.
They can no longer talk to one another.
Now I *did* back in the mists of time have a similar problem where they could not talk. This was down to my AVG firewall on the desktop which I had to whitelist the ip address of the ipad. This was easy to know it was the firewall as if I turned the firewall off... it all worked!
    Not this time.
This is all to do with the vaguaries of Apple's "bonjour" system which seems to be fussy to say the least.
My IP table looks like this:
    192.168.1.254 Home Hub (i.e. default)
192.168.1.64 iPad (i.e. the first address that was given out by DHCP and set to always use this).
192.168.1.63 TP-Link TL-WA701ND (in client mode to receive the HH signal and forward it.)
    192.168.1.71 desktop machine
There are other devices on the net but these are the ones of interest.
For Internet access, for printing, for everything else this just works fine.
I know the WA701ND is in the non-DHCP portion of the addresses so I've also tried it at 192.168.1.200 - just in case it made a difference (shouldn't do but you never know!).
I've tried the desktop machine plumbed directly into the WA701ND and also going into the 5 port switch TL-SF1005D and then into the WA701ND.
So whether the desktop goes into a switch and then to the client mode WA701ND and whether the address of the latter is in or out of the DHCP table range doesn't seem to matter. Nor does having the AVG firewall on or off (and I've whitelisted both the IP address of the WA701ND and of the iPad in the AVG firewall anyway).
    In all cases:
    1. I can not see the desktop machine in the http://bthomehub.home/ control panel > Advanced Settings > Home Network > Devices (or in the DHCP table list).
    2. I can easily ping the desktop machine from the iPad and vice versa, and can FTP files to the iPad.
    3. Apple's Bonjour system will not allow the two devices to see one another.
This seems to be something blocking Bonjour but I can't see what it might be. I can't spot any firewall setup in either the WA701ND or in the HomeHub system that might cause problems.
Has anyone else had issues with Bonjour and Home Hub? I searched and could not see anything.
At the moment I can, of course, attach the iPad directly to the desktop and synch music but that does not cover my apps which synch documents and are somewhat vital.
    Suggestions welcome!  Thanks.

Keith, yup that's what I figured and why I kept it out of the DHCP range but I was trying it in the DHCP range just in case, when plugged directly into the desktop computer, it showed up as *its* card. It didn't!
I'm not a Mac user either - PC is my area.
When I first searched I searched on iPad and also on iTunes. I found more hits searching both here and elsewhere on Bonjour and Home Hub. It seems Bonjour is very similar to DLNA and UPnP. Having found a few hits searching on AirPlay and AirPrint found me a few more.
I found some people solve similar issues turning of WPA2 and just using WPA. I tried turning security to WPA on both WA701ND and on HH3. No better.
I found some people say that turning OFF UPnP in the HH3 settings worked. Not for me.
I found some people say they got rid of their HH3 and replaced it with a different cable router. Mmmm not about to try that any time soon.
Whether WPA2 is relevant or not is not clear. Another factor was multicasting - apparently HH3 does not allow it and Bonjour relies on it.
And yet despite this some folk had it working just fine and others didn't! Go figure.
I'll work out an alternative way of using the iPad I think. For the stuff I use I can probably get around it rather than fix it!
Frustrating given that two weeks ago it was all ticking along smoothly. (i.e. before Infiinty installation)

  • Synching problem with 2nd gen Shuffle

I've had a 2nd gen iPod Shuffle for several years and have always had it work well. But recently it has trouble synching when I plug it in. Whether using Autofill or synching manually, it will only synch from 1 to 4 or 5 songs at a time, and then stops, saying the synching operation is complete. Sometimes it will stop synching before the first song is complete. It does this over and over again with varying results. The only consistency is it never completes synching the entire playlist. I've gone through the reset procedure many times, but it still does this. I've double-checked all the other settings and everything should be set to go.
For reference, I have a 2GHz Intel Core Duo iMac with 2GB RAM and I'm running Snow Leopard and iTunes 10.2.1.

Yes to the "restore" question. I mistakenly referred to "resetting" instead. So I've already tried that, many times.
I'll take a look at a different port or cable, and if needed, I'll reinstall iTunes, but I don't expect it will make a difference - this exact setup used to work.
One other bit of background - Autofill works fine when I let the computer synch from my general "Music" library, that is, when it's working from its post-restore defaults. The failure happens when I want to put something else on the iPod, and it happens whether I use Autofill, or drag a whole playlist to the iPod, or drag several songs at a time to it.
In fact, there are only two times it works correctly, 100% of the time - when it Autofills from my "Music" library right after restoring, and when I drag a single song at a time to the iPod.

  • Synching problems with calendar using MobileMe

Ever since upgrading my iPad to version 4.3.3, my calendar fails to sync with my PC.  It syncs just fine with MobilMe but MobileMe is not synching with the PC.  I upgraded MobleMe on the PC to version 1.6.6. I am running Outlook 2007 on my PC.

then you issue is likely related to the Exchange issue. Outlook does not sync well with Exchange and one gets many corrupted calendar events in two cases: recurring events and having delegates. I addressed my isssues by going to Outlook and cleaning up all the recurring events, replacing those with one time events or recurrences that were lower than 10. I also removed my delegates access to calendaring. Once done that, I deleted the client data both on outlook 2007 (on win XP) and on Entourage and the iPhone. Then I rebuilt the client accounts (no big deal because all the info was on the exchange server). After doing that I had no issues... but I was not able to turn on delegates anymore.
Entourage is a different thing as it still has many issues (even with Exchange latest version), so with Entourage I went the extra step of rebuilding the database (start entourage while holding down the OPTIONS key).
a potential workaround for you while the Exchange backed is upgraded is to sync OTA only email and contacts and sync calendar with a mac...

  • File Synch problem with timestamp

    Win2k, LabVIEW 7.0
I'm trying to do file synchronization between the data files I produced on the local disk, and a remote server.
I am doing a LIST FILES on the local folder, and a LIST FILES on the remote folder.
For each file, I do a GET FILE INFO, and look at the LAST MOD data (a TIMESTAMP value).
For each file in the SOURCE folder, I match it up with the corresponding entry in the DESTINATION folder.
I then compare the times, and if the SOURCE timestamp is greater than the DEST timestamp, then I delete the DEST file, and COPY the source file to the DEST.
There are a few files that fail this process, though, and I am puzzled as to why.
If I look (via Windows explorer) at the properties of one of these files, it says the LAST MOD date is 6:09:20. That is the case for BOTH the local copy and the remote copy.
However, the SYNCH logic above insists on copying this file every time it runs. When I add logging stuff to the synch process, it tells me that the local file has a date of 6:09:21, and the remote file has a date of 6:09:20, so it wants to copy it.
But after the copy, things are exactly the same - Windows shows the times identical, but LabVIEW shows them ONE second apart, and copies them AGAIN the next time it runs. This is true for about 6 files out of a folder of 50-60. I suppose I could allow for that one second, if I knew why it was there.
What's biting me here? If the file really had a MOD DATE resolution of 1 mSec say, then I could understand that maybe the PROPERTIES window truncates the value, and the TIMESTAMP does not. But even then, it ought to copy ONCE and set them the same...
The "Server" I am testing on is running OSX, 10.4.6, if that matters.

    It
is a file system issue. NTFS uses something like a 100nSec resolution
but historically the FAT file times have had a two second resolution.
Apparently the Property dialog does convert the timestamp to a DOS time
all the time before displaying it.
Your MacOSX system uses a completely different resolution (at least 1
sec but probably better). The network protocol does allow for high
resolution transmissions and so the exact time gets transmitted but
somehow your local system has a DOS limitation for the harddisk volume
in question so that LAbVIEW returns the DOS time too for the local
volume. The Explorer property dialog will always show DOS time only it
seems, I had similar issues in the past but didn't really dig deeper,
just accepted the 1 second difference.

  • Music synch problem with slideshow

I've done quite a number of slideshows and used a song from my  iTunes as background. Always worked fine, but my latest creation has a problem: part way through the show, the music starts over. I have checked the source song and it's fine. Nothing seems odd in the slideshow settings. Any experiences like this and solutions?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. Launch iPhoto, reset its preferences back to what you want, i.e. appearance, etc., and then try the music again. You'll find that the iTunes playlist is back to its original order set in iTunes.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.
