Synching subfolders with Exchange

I downloaded the 2.0 update to the iPod Touch and I was able to get my work email account setup to it and everything works fine. The only item I cannot seem to find is how do I setup synching of sub folders? I can see them but no email pops up. Curious if others have had this problem. Does it just synch the inbox and everything new and I can only see new, or do I need to select the subfolders to synch like Windows-based versions of Mobile / ActiveSync?

Syncing subfolders works just fine. You might want to check how far back your iPod syncs however -- the default is 3 days, so if you have nothing in your subfolders that are less than 3 days old, nothing will show up.

  • 3.0 Synch Notes with Exchange?

Is it possible to synch notes with Exchange now with 3.0 - it does calendar, email etc., so I thought this would be a logical enhancement since they worked on the notes app?
if it's not supported, is there anyway to synch exchange notes through some other method? Thanks,

Yes, notes will sync with Outlook through iTunes, just not over the air.

  • Synching iPad with exchange

I am having a problem synching my appointments from my iPad to exchange. Everything I put on my iPad automatically sync's with exchange except for the calendar. Anybody have an idea where I am going wrong?

I figured it out. It has to do with the colour code you use when entering an appointment. It needs to always be the same colour. If it is different, it will only show on your iPad

  • Synch iPad with exchange

I have my Exchange mail installed on my iPhone and got all my mail history there.
On my iPad i have installed the same Exchange account, but only got the history few days back. I have set the iPad to synch 200 mails back, but i only have the last 25 mails there.
    I am running iOS 4.2.1

Thank you very much.  That makes perfect sense and I'm sure your right.
However I'd have no idea what address to put and where.  (DNS/Port forwarding/Firewall in router settings?).  Before you say ask your IT man in the office; thats me, (very small company!).  I'd have to outsource this one to our IT guys and at a few hundred quid for a call out I might give that a miss.
I imagine people would need to see my router setting etc so that probably ends this there?  Unless there is just an obvious place to find the info that I'm missing?

  • Hidden Contact Subfolders are visible on iPhone after sync with Exchange Server 2007

    Hello,
We have encountered an issue where synchronizing the iPhone with Contacts from an Exchange Server 2007 mailbox, causes hidden contact subfolders (from Outlook) to be visible and appear in the Groups list in the Contacts App on the iPhone.  This does not occur with Exchange Server 2010 mailboxes.
We have a 3rd party application that creates hidden subfolders in the default Contacts folder on Exchange Server 2007 mailboxes.  The hidden folders do not display in the Outlook client, Blackberry or on an Android phone.  We did see that they were showing up in Outlook Web Access until we applied this Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3 Rollup 2 patch unto the Exchange server:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2210042 - A sub contact folder is still visible after you set the "PR_ATTR_HIDDEN" attribute to "True" in an Exchange Server 2007 environment.
After the patch was applied, the hidden contacts do not show up anywhere else.  However, when we synced the mailbox to an iPhone and synced existing contacts, all of the hidden folders appear in the Contact Groups list.  Is there a way to hide the hidden sub contact folders on the iPhone and prevent them from appearing in the Contact Group lists?
Any help provided would be most appreciated.
    Thanks and Best Regards

    Hi SBuchan,
I have an open case with Microsoft about it.  It is an issue with ActiveSync in Exchange 2007 that sends the hidden objects.  Microsoft tried to resolve this in Exchange 2010 by sending a delete message after sending the hidden objects to remove them from the device.  Am awaiting to see if they will approve a design change to Exchange 2007 ActiveSync to prevent the synching of hidden objects.

HELP! my work ipod touches won't synch with Exchange anymore after the 5.1.1 upgrade

  • After IOS8 upgrade IPhone5s syncs with exchange but IPad2 syncs ONLY Mail and Contacts, NOT Calendar.  Totally stumped. Ideas anyone?

After IOS8 upgrade IPhone5s syncs with exchange but IPad2 syncs ONLY Mail and Contacts, NOT Calendar.
Also, my other tablet - Samsung TabS - has same issue - calendar wont sync. My IPhone and my desktop (windows) synch just fine.
Google calendar syncs on all devices. Totally stumped. Ideas anyone?
    THANKS

    1.      Log onto Outlook Web Access
    2.      Top right hand part of the screen select "Options"
    3.     Select "See All Options"
    4.      Select "Phone" menu
Check if you have 10 Devices registered.
If you have, you need to delete one of them to add your new Smart Phone to Exchange for synching
Check the "Last Sync Time" to indicate if this device is still active or not.

  • Synching problems with calendar using MobileMe

Ever since upgrading my iPad to version 4.3.3, my calendar fails to sync with my PC.  It syncs just fine with MobilMe but MobileMe is not synching with the PC.  I upgraded MobleMe on the PC to version 1.6.6. I am running Outlook 2007 on my PC.

then you issue is likely related to the Exchange issue. Outlook does not sync well with Exchange and one gets many corrupted calendar events in two cases: recurring events and having delegates. I addressed my isssues by going to Outlook and cleaning up all the recurring events, replacing those with one time events or recurrences that were lower than 10. I also removed my delegates access to calendaring. Once done that, I deleted the client data both on outlook 2007 (on win XP) and on Entourage and the iPhone. Then I rebuilt the client accounts (no big deal because all the info was on the exchange server). After doing that I had no issues... but I was not able to turn on delegates anymore.
Entourage is a different thing as it still has many issues (even with Exchange latest version), so with Entourage I went the extra step of rebuilding the database (start entourage while holding down the OPTIONS key).
a potential workaround for you while the Exchange backed is upgraded is to sync OTA only email and contacts and sync calendar with a mac...

  • Synching contacts with Outlook does not work

I have a Mac (with the contacts application), an iPhone and an iPad as well as an iCloud account. Synching contacts between all 4 of them works perfectly. However, synching contacts with Outlook 2011 does not work anymore. It used to, then I had some trouble with the synching with the iCloud (due to the fact that I had to change the Apple ID from the one I use for iTunes to the one I use for the Cloud), and since then contacts do not replicate with Outlook anymore. I can deactivate and reactivate the synching in Outlook as much as I want, no change.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

So it sounds like you have contacts from multiple mail accounts syncing to/from your iPhone.  They will all appear there as long as their respective accounts are checked under contacts/groups(upper left of contact screen).
As far as contacts created on the iPhone, if you select Outlook as your default account for contacts, all contacts created on the iPhone will sync with Outlook.  I'm assuming your Outlook syncs with an Exchange Server.
You could connect the iPhone to iTunes and sync all of your contacts to say, a desktop version of Outlook.  You could then import that set of contacts into the Exchange version of Outlook.

  • Any way to sync with Google Contacts and activesync with Exchange emails?

Here's what I'm trying to do:
    1. Sync my iPhone contacts with Google
    2. Have my private calendar synched with Google
    3. Have my work calendar synched with Exchange
    4. Get push email from my Exchange server
    5. View Google email
I have done 1 & 2 using Google Sync for iPhone, but since this is done via ActiveSync it blocks my ability to add my corporate Exchange server as I am only allowed to have one ActiveSync account on the iPhone.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi Adam,
As you probably discovered, the problem is Google Calendar. The iPhone can get email directly from Gmail - without Google Sync - but the Calendar won't work. There are two main options
    1. The simplest option is to view your Google calendar via CalDAV. The iPhone supports CalDAV and can sync with any any CalDAV compatible calendar system. Unfortunately, I believe that it's read-only: using CalDAV, you can't update your Google calendar from the iPhone. However, if read-only is fine, that's the simplest option. Then you'd use Exchange for your work stuff, Mail on the iPhone to talk directly to Gmail, and CalDAV support in the calendar to view your Google calendar.
    2. The more sophisticated option is to use Mail on the iPhone to get Gmail, then use Exchange for everything else. You'd then add SyncMyCal on your Windows PC to sync your Google calendar with your Exchange account. The sync is two-way and works very well. With your Google calendar available in Exchange, the sync from Exchange to the iPhone will now have your Google calendar items too - and you can create new events on your iPhone's calendar that'll end up in Google calendar.

  • How can I manage two boxes with exchange mail clie...

I have two mail boxes and I need to update it from my nokia N8.
one is a company's business and works with exchane server, the other is hotmail.
I need to sync with mail for exchange, but once set up the company, if I try to insert a new exchange box with the default client replies that I have already reached the maximum number of boxes exchange.
Is there a way to synchronize them both (of course with exchange)?
I tried to synchronize with hotmail PoP / IMAP but it is a disaster. I do not have all the folders, and then I can not sync contacts and calendar.

    Hi aningro,
    Welcome to Nokia Support Discussions!
You can add only one Mail for Exchange mailbox on Nokia N8. This is by design and unfortunately cannot be changed. The workaround is to use IMAP, like you mentioned, and it should be possible to synchronise your folders even over IMAP.
To synchronise subfolders perform the following steps:
    Go to Mail.
    Open your Inbox.
Tap the Inbox on the top of the screen.
Swipe the list and select Folders, and Folder list opens.
Select the folder you would like to sync.
Also, please see this thread for more information on IMAP folder synchronisation.
    Hope this helps,
    Puigchild

  • Outlook calendar synching issues with iPhone

My work Outlook calendar does not seem to be synching up with the calendar on my iPhone. Any ideas on how to resolve this?

In that case the sync is with Exchange, not with Outlook. Both Outlook and the iPhone sync with Exchange, which is the master copy.
Which is more current, Outlook or the iPhone?

  • Re: Nokia Email Setup with Exchange

    Karim,
Are you familiar with Active Sync for Exchange? It is a feature available on the new Nokia E70 which I purchased for exactly this purpose. I am getting a message that reads "site is not sending a trusted certificate" but I was told that it should still synch without trusted certificate.
Now, Nokia is telling me that it is dependent on my service provider which needs to enable Exchange Synch ML in order for me to use this feature. I have my own email server and am trying to sync with Exchange remotely.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks for your time.

When Mail for Exchange connects to a server using a secure connection, it is best if the device has the same root certificate installed that has been used to issue the server certificate. Otherwise the device will prompt the user about an untrusted certificate every time a connection is made to the server. This may happen several times daily, sometimes only minutes between.
Nokia devices come with many certificates pre-installed. These can be viewed by using Menu-Tools-Settings-Security-Certif_management. If a certificate issued by one of these certificates is used on the server, no additional certificates are required on the device.
If a certificate that can not be validated with the device’s pre-installed certificates is used, for example a certificate that has been self-created, the root certificate that has been used to issue the server certificate must be installed on all devices the administrator deploys.
In the case of a self-signed server certificate, the root certificate is the same as the server certificate since there is no certificate chain. The server certificate is the one that should be installed.
Before installation the administrator must convert the certificate to a format the Nokia device supports.
For the experienced admin, this statement can be followed: A server’s root certificate must be converted to ‘DER encoded binary X.509’ format.
Step 1: Obtain the root (not intermediate) certificate for the server in base64 format. This should look something like this:
    -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----
    VQQGEwJaQTEiMCAGA1UECBMZRk9SIFRFU1RJTkcgUF
    VSUE9TRVMgT05MWTEdMBsGRVNUMRwwGgYDVQQDExNU
    aGF3dGUgVGVzdCBDQSBSb290MB4XDTA1MTEwNzExMj
    BgEFBQcBAQQmMCQwIgYIKwYBBQUHMAGGFmh0dHA6Ly
    FLgsY+QtxYo=
    -----END CERTIFICATE-----
Step 2: Cut and paste this into notepad and save (or rename) this file with “.cer” extension, i.e.
Step 3: On a Windows PC (XP is used here), double-click the file you created. A Certificate application will start after several seconds. There are three tabs (General, Details, and Certification Path). Select the ‘Details’ tab.
Now press ‘Copy to File…’ button to start the ‘Certificate Export Wizard’. Press ‘Next’. Now select ‘DER encoded binary X.509 (.CER)’ and press ‘Next’. Continue to save the file with any name like . Make sure the filename has a ‘.cer’ extension.
Step 4: Get this file to the device via any means (email, Bluetooth, memory card, etc.). Find the file on the device and select it. If these steps were followed correctly, the device will start to import the certificate. Follow prompts and when asked, check the boxes for both ‘Internet’ and ‘Online cert. checking’.
Result: You should see a new certificate installed in the device’s Security management list.
Otherwise, the phone will display an error about file format not being supported. If this happens, the certificate has not been imported.

  • Need Task and Notes Synchronization with Exchange

I use Tasks and Notes heavily on my Outlook/Exchange. I need a way to wirelessly synch them with my iPhone. Does anyone have a recommendation that works?

I have just switched from a Blackberry with Enterprise Server to an iPhone 4 with Activesync having been assured by me email host, Intermedia, that my notes and maybe even my tasks would sync, but this appears not to be true. I am approaching 20 years since my conversion to Apple and therefore have clearly drunk the Kool-Aid, but I do think that it is a shame not to have this integration in the Enterprise/Activesync world. Is this something controlled by Activesync, my Exchange host or a short-coming of the iPHone software that it is unable to handle these two additional components of MS Outlook?
