Synching with iCal work events

Work synchs Calendar events and tasks using iCal.  How can I receive and publish these with Mavericks?  I'd like their Tasks to be a Reminders list.
Thank you!
Chip

Set up an Other Account type in Internet Accounts System Prefs. Choose a Calendar (CalDAV) account type.
Put in the information for the ownCloud account you are logged into at work. Then, check the boxes to get the information you want.
You should then see the calendar in Calendar and Tasks in Reminders (if Reminders was an option when you set up the account).
If they have their own ownCloud server set up behind a firewall, you will have to talk to your IT department about how to access the server from your home.
Here is Apple's minimalistic setup instructions: OS X Mavericks: Set up iCloud, Twitter, Facebook, and other Internet accounts
Here is an ownCloud pictorial description (While it is for Mountain Lion, the setup is the same in Mavericks). http://doc.owncloud.org/server/4.5/user_manual/sync_osx.html

  • Synch with ical and google

I am able to synch wirelessly between touch and google but would also like to synch with ical. When i connect with new mac book and i get a message that says touch is already being synched with exchange server and cannot be synched with ical.
    Ideas greatly appreciated!

Actually, Free if only using the botton tier service that Apple will be offering.
If you are just using less than 5GB, it's free. An extra 10GB will cost $20 per year, while an extra 20GB runs $40 / year and an extra 50GB will demand $100 per annum. And yes, Add to that $24.99 if you are using the iTunes match service.

  • Synching with ical and outlook?

Hi, just wondering if it's possible to synch my iphone 4 cal with my work (PC) MS outlook cal? I can send all my appointments to myself at home and then manually add them into ical & do it that way, but that seems clumsy.
Can I synch to two different systems?
    Thanks

So if I don't have a mobile me account, the only way I can do it is to install iTunes on the PC, is that right?

  • Hi everyone. I have just started having problems with iCal.  Events that I thought I had deleted are appearing on Print Preview and on print outs. Likewise Events which I have not deleted have disappeared from my calenders, but appear in print preview.

Hi everybody. I have recently started having problems with iCal (Version 2.05 (1069). Events that I thought I had deleted appear in Print Preview and Print Outs. Likewise Events that I have not deleted have disappeared from my calender (Month View) but appear in Print Preview and Print Outs. I see that there have been similar problems with Events disappearing especially in Month View. I wondered how print preview seemrd to be picking everything up deleted or not, and what the solution may be?. First time of Posting. I hope I haven't embarassed myself.

    Hmmmm.
At the very least there must be a "com.apple.ical.plist"...iCal would not function without it.
Click on the Finder icon in the dock
    Click on Go > Home
    Double-click Library
    Double-click Preferences
Look for a file called "com.apple.ical.plist" and remove it to the trash.

  • IPod Touch shows wrong time when synched with iCal

I have a new iPod Touch and I have to say that the iCal synch doesn't work correctly. The touch is a French version and whenever i synch the iCal it changes the time into European 24-hour time. My 9 am appointments are shown as being at 21h (9pm). The time is correct on the iCal but I had to use weekly display and drag and drop it to get it that way because entering the hours numerically didn't work.
I remember too well giving up on iCal years ago for these adorable little quirks. Anybody have a solution? Thanks.

Just a follow up on this questions (which by the way no one answered). The iPod eventually corrected the time display. It happened a few hours after the first synchronization.

  • IPhone with Parallels: Does the synch with Outlook work?

I'm using Parallels 3.0 and plan on buying an iPhone. The most important feature is the synch with my Outlook in Windows XP. I'd rather use my docking station than buying further Exchange Server Stuff.
    Does the synch work reliable?

I have an iphone and was told that the surface rt cannot be sycned to my iphone like my

  • Event in ical on my iphone 4 does not  synch with ical on my imac. the other way around works perfect

the other way around works perfect. does anyone has a clue?

I just realized I am having the same problem.  All iCal events are on my iMac, but I can only view the last 12 months or so on my iPhone 4s.  Searching within iCal or the main Search window on the iPhone give the same results, zero.
So when I am at the doctors and they want to know when my child last saw Dr. SoAndSo, the search on the phone shows zero, when I know this is an annual appointment.
Very frustrating.  I hope there is a setting that I've just missed since I got the phone last Fall.

  • CanI dont want my data synch with my work pc. Why cant I just go to a FireFox Account log and once logged in, have my data shown as a plug-in. When I am done surfing I log out and my data remains on the web and NOT on the local pc?

Lets make Firefox Synch a function that if one 'logs onto' his or her account, then the browser will 'plugin' the users data (ie History, PW, etc). Once the user finishes his day (work or at home) he or she logs out and nothing remains in the local pc regarding favorites or anything. Instead of synching the data to every pc just keep the data on the cloud or web. That way the data travels where ever one is without the need to synch it and thus having it on the local pc. Maybe it already does this, but I dont see it explained anywhere. My 2 cents.

When my pc and tablet were together I synched the bookmarks and everything was fine but I had to send my pc to repair and upon receiving it back I used the same sync account and although my phone and pc sync history the bookmarks and preferences on my tablet will not show up on my phone or pc. I have reset firefox and uninstalled and reinstalled, and I have changed recovery key, but the only thing that seems to show up as sincing with my pc is my pphone with no bookmarks passwords or preferences.

  • Ipod no longer synching with ical is only the worst of the problems

My first problem was that iTunes would only transfer over certain calendars, not all that I had selected. On top of that, some, but not all, of the start times were an hour later than my iCal calendars. And, I've been having issues with disappearing calendars. So, I restored the iPod and the following happened...
After connecting my ipod to my iMac, I went to iPod options and under calendar, I selected to "synchronize all calendars". iTunes found all my calendars. I clicked ok, iTunes says it's "updating calendars" and after a few moments my ipod is back to normal. But, when I navigate to calendars on the iPod, there are no calendars to be found.
So, I reinstalled itunes. deleted .plist files. I even exported all my calendars to .ics files and completely reinstalled iCal. Restarted the iMac a few times in between. Now, the only way I can get the calendars to show up on my ipod is to mount the ipod as a drive and copy over the .ics files. Since I have 16 calendars, the export and copy routine is not ideal.
I do not sync with entourage. I have a .mac account, but I don't sync with that either. Nor do I have the Mark Space app that seems to appear in a lot of threads about odd times and disappearing calendars.
I have a Gen3 20gb iPod with the latest updates, itunes (6.0.4) ical (2.0.3) and OS X 10.4.6 with 1 GB RAM and about 160 GB of available on the hard disk. My iPod has about 12 Gb of stuff on it.
Any clues as to what's happening or how I can solve this?

  • Important that each addRow be synched with a tableChange event?

Suppose you have a folder that can recieve objects from any thread. The insert method is synchronized, so only one thread gets in at a time. The folder is a TableModel. Each insert needs to update the UI.
If you use invokeAndWait, you run the risk of deadlock when the EDT is waiting for the folder to be free while another thread is blocking on the EDT. One solution is to use invokeLater, but then each UI update doesn't necessarily come immediately after its corresponding insert.
Another solution is to force all inserts to come from the EDT. This solution is less desirable since sometimes the folder is not open, and there is no need to update the UI.
So my question is: How important is it that each table change event follow immediately after the corresponding change to the data model?

I don't think the component will actually update the
    gui
everytime you insert data. If you insert many things
in rapid succession, it will probably end up with one
    update
at the end.If you're using a DefaultXXXXMode, any change to the model results in an event being fired to listeners. If one of those listeners is a visible view, the component is dirtied and will be redrawn the next time the GUI is refreshed.
You can have rapid inserts, and maybe the GUI will only be redrawn once, but the component will be dirtied every time.
    >
Why not modify the table model and add a method that
    takes
a block of objects and insert them together instead of
    1 by 1?
That will ensure only 1 gui update be dispatched for a
    block
of objects inserted. That's what I did in my program.
    There is a method
named fireTableRowsInserted(int start, int end) that
    you might
want to use.The problem is that the table model is part of a larger model, and there are 3 representations of data that exist in the model. Objects passed into this model are stored in an array (if the model contains a vew that's visible), are also cached, and also sent across a server to be stored remotely. Since objects can be stored into the model from any thread, you must use synchronization to keep it from stepping on itself. A problem occurs when you do an invokeAndWait call from a synchronized method, since the EDT could already be waiting for the object to finish with its current synchronized operation.

  • Problems with ical "show event times"

Help!  When I schedule an appointment at the half-hour mark, ical shows this (see below).  The class on Dec 9 shows the 6 p.m. "event time" next to it, which is what I want.
The class scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Dec 10 shows the date (12/10/13) right after the event time.  I don't want this.  How do I fix this?

    Hello drpepper2013,
It may be that the event in question is set up as an all-day event, rather than being constrained to a particular timeframe as the one that appears as desired.

  • Set up synch with Exchange - works in Entourage but not in Mail!

    Hi all,
In Entourage I've been able to connect to my Exchange 2003 server at the office. Apart from the certificate warning it works just ok.
But now, how do I set Mail to accept the same connection?
In other words which settings from Entourage go where in the Mail account settings?
    So where's Mail's equivalent of:
    - Domain
    - The DAV 443 port setting
    etc
Mail just keeps reporting that it cannot find the server.
    Marco

Entourage uses a connection to Exchange via settings established under OWA (Outlook Web Access). ActiveSync is different than that and so is Blackberry access. Each company can set up ActiveSync differently, so I can't tell you what to configure, but generally you should be able to put in your OWA (Entourage) settings and set up ActiveSync with very minor modifications. For example, your OWA (Entourage) server might be: https://exchange.somecompany.com/owa or similar. It is likely that your IT folks set up ActiveSync access on the same server. In that case, the server entry for the iPhone might be simply: exchange.somecompany.com
Keep in mind that Exchange 2007 has a feature where the email address is used to "find" the server, but if your company is running Exchange 2003, that feature is not available. This is likely confusing some people on how to set things up, too.
OWA (Outlook Web Access), OMA (Outlook Mobile Access) and (EAS) Exchange ActiveSync are all different services. For the iPhone, we will configure for EAS even if all of these products are running on the same server or not.
The other thing that I note in some posts is that people are having issues with certificates. If the company signs their own certificates, then that certificate will need to be installed on the iPhone. If the certificate is purchased from EnTrust, Verisign or other certificate authority (CA), then the iPhone will likely not need the company certificate imported to the device.
    I hope this helps someone.

  • IPod Classic synch with iCal question

I have 6 calendars in my iCal and I have iTunes set to synch All Calendars into my iPod 160GB Classic. It's only synching 2 of the 6. Turning all on and off and any other combination I've tried either removes all (the 2) or synchs just the 2. I want all 6 calendars in the iPod. Does anyone have a solution? Thank you for your help

I have the same problem, some calendars will sync while others refuse. I cannot find any consistency although it appears that the multi-day entries transfer OK.

  • Ical calendar on my mac not synching with iCloud

icloud calendars is checked in system preferences, however my ical appears empty on my macbook pro. Why is my iphone calendar not synching with ical in macbook pro even though icloud preferences are properly set up?

I wish I'd found this earlier.  Here's some info that takes Winston's solution a bit further:
I just spent a bunch of time with Apple and have solved my similar problem.  A week ago, iCal and my iPhone calendar stopped syncing.  My assortment of iCal calendars were gone from iCloud, so that was the problem (not phone to iCloud).  After much de-selecting and re-selecting, I realized that all my important calendars were @me.com type.  I tested the iCloud calendars, and they functioned perfectly.  Apple explained a simple way to migrate the @me.com calendars to iCloud:
Create a new iCloud calendar     File > New Calendar > iCloud
    Name the calender
Right click the old @me.com calendar and choose Export.  Desktop is a good destination.
Drag the exported calendar from your desktop to the new iCloud calendar
iCal should show duplicates of all events in the @me.com calendar.
De-select the @me.com calendar.  The duplicates will disappear.
Repeat with all the @me.com calendars and abandon this antiquated list.
Rejoice in your shiny new list of iCloud calendars that shows up everywhere it is supposed to.
There must be a lot of people out there who still have @me.com calendars, so I hope this info reaches them before they all spend time and money with Apple trying to sort it out.

  • ToDo App that syncs with iCal?

Has anybody found a good ToDo app that syncs with iCal? That would be awesome!

I tried several to do applications. A couple would synch with Ical, but you had as much as a 30 minute delay before the synch would be updated.
So far the best thing I have found is Toodledo. You can import your Ical data into it and very effectively sort all your to dos.
They have their own iphone web application for the iphone for accessing it, but there is an iphone application called Todo, that will synch with Toodledo and store all the data in your iphone so you do not have to be connected to the internet all the time. Go toodledo.com
    It synching is instant.
