Synching with Palm

I have a Palm Tungsten E (Palm OS 5.2.1). I want to replace it, and my current cell phone, with a Blackberry Curve. I want to synch all my dates, contacts and memos with the Blackberry Curve. This would be a one-time event--once it's done I won't be using my Palm again. Is this possible? I don't want to have to re-enter hundreds of entries into my Curve.

Load the BB Desktop Manager to your PC. I would recommend version 4.6 withOUT the media manager.
Download Desktop Manager from here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Then, you will use the Switch Device Wizard from within DM to move all your data, calendar, contacts, etc., from the Palm to your BB. It is made to be quite simple and seamless.
A second option would be sync your Palm with Outlook, and then Outlook to the BB.

  • Problems synching with Palm Tungsten T3

I am having problems synching with my Palm Tungsten T3 datebook to Outlook 2003.  It was working up until about a week ago.  When I try to synch, it works for a few items and then I get the error message Pilot connector "Unable to read application data".  I click OK and then it finishes.  Below is the information I get in my log:
    HotSync operation started 07/29/08 15:21:15
    OK Expense
    OK Note Pad
    OK Voice Memo
    OK Photos
Palm handheld database could not be opened (4004).
Unable to communicate with Palm handheld (400D).

  • Synch with palm on a pc?

    Hi,
I'm switching from a palm treo to the iphone. Has anyone been successful in synching palm contacts and calendar?
    Thanks.

I am still working on this also. I spent an hour on the phone with the Palm folks. You need to have the conduits that will sync the Palm to Outlook. It is automatically a part of the lastest Palm Desktop software. Follow their download and install instructions.
Then select the custom field in the Palm Hotsync manager and select Outlook as the sync location. I chose the "handheld over writes the desktop" option, as I am trying to get my calendar into Outlook and ultimately into my iPhone.
Then turn on hotsync and it everything goes smoothly, the data goes from your handheld to Outlook.
I did all of this and my palm handheld tried to sync to Outlook, but was not successful. Outlook on my computer won't sync with my iPhone either, so it may be a problem with my configuration.
I hope it works for you. Let us know if it works for you.

  • Bluetooth error while synching with Palm Treo

When I try to sync my Treo 755p with my iMac I get the following on the phone: Unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port in use by another application.
Problem must exist on the computer because I am able to sync this phone with another mac. The phone is a trusted device on the mac, the software is configured according to the documentation on the palm site. Suggested fixes for this error are to remove any other devices using the port. How do I find out what port it is using so I can remove other devices? The only other devices on this computer are a secondary monitor, Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

  • Centro will not sync with Palm desktop - Calendar and/or Contacts

I have used a Palm device for many years. Acquired a new Centro. Upon installation of Palm Desktop (on Windows XP) that came with Centro, all contacts, calendar, to do, memos, etc transferred to the Centro during installation.
Subsequent changes to contacts and/or calendar on Centro are not syncing with Palm desktop when Hot Sync is performed. Hot Sync starts and appears to complete normally. To Do list and memos appear to sync just fine. Have tried changing conduits to have Centro overwrite desktop. Have uninstalled/reinstalled Desktop many times.

    Post relates to: Centro (Sprint)

I have a Centro/Verizon Wireless using Versamail with accounts established for personal POP and Exchange e-mail synchronization.  The latter account is for work.  Previously I owned a Treo 650p using Versamail.
When I first installed Palm OS Desktop and synched to my Centro device, it was on a Windows XP home computer, and no Versamail accounts were defined.  First I downloaded and installed the Versamail version which allowed Exchange synchronization.  I exported the Treo650p contacts list to a disk file, and imported it onto the Windows XP home computer into the Palm OS Desktop installed with the Centro-supplied CD.  This synched the imported contacts list to the Centro fine.  After I defined all the POP and Exchange accounts, synchronization with the office Exchange contacts list worked fine, and still does.  Synchronization with the windows XP home computer for contacts seems to still be ok, too regardless of the MS Exchange Versamail account commingling with my personal POP accounts.  Maybe the install sequence is overriding the previous posts' notation that MS Exchange mail definition will override synch with Palm OS Desktop?
The problem now is I have a different/second home computer that's Vista os.  I installed the Palm OS Desktop and synch with the Treo.  The contacts list is not synching to this second home computer, maybe because I didn't follow the exact same sequence as for the Windows XP pc?  I can still synch my Centro with my Windows XP pc and that includes contacts.
Is there a way on this second pc to override the MS Exchange contacts override for synchronization without having to go through the exact same install sequence as occurred on the Windows XP machine?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Know that for questions such as this in the future, the Search Discussions feature is your friend. You have stumbled onto the single most frequently encountered Palm device problem under Mac OS X 10.5 and later releases. You can workaround this issue by…
    • eliminating Groups in your Address Book
    • turning off Contacts to synchronize calendars, the Calendars to synchronize contacts
    • ditching the iSync and iSync Conduit approach completely and instead using the Missing Sync for Palm OS

  • Hot synch problem with Palm TX

I entered some new contacts on Microsoft Outlook and two new categories of contacts. When I hot synch with my Palm TX the new contacts appear but the two new categories do not appear.  Does the Palm TX have a limit on the number of Contact Categories it will handle?  I have 15 Categories at present in Outlook.

    Post relates to: Palm TX

According to the Palm Knowledgebase, 15 is the maximum (not counting All and Unfiled).
    Details here:
    http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/nua/launchKB.asp?c=31763
It states any more than 15 will be lumped together into "Unfiled".

  • Palm Z22 synch. with Outlook 2007

My old HP 4700 series PDA has died.  Fortunately, I've been backing it up to Outlook 2007.  I tried to replace it with an HP 111, but it simply would not synch. with Outlook and I eventually sent it back.  I really don't need WiFi on the PDA, so I'm thinking about going with a much simpler model and the Palm Z22 has been recommended.  I just want to make sure that it will easily synch with Outlook 2007 so I don't have to reenter all the contacts, calendar entries and notes that are presently on Outlook.  Has anyone had any problems that I should know about?  Any comments about the Z22 would also be appreciated.  Thanks.
    Post relates to: Palm Z22

Yes, the z22 will work with Outlook. However, Palm is not selling the z22 anymore. You might be able to find it on ebay...

  • How do I synch my Palm Pre Plus with Outlook 2010 running on Windows 7 - 64 Bit

Any 3rd party apps that will do this>
Post relates to: Pre Plus p100una (AT&T)

I have been using my Palm TX for years, with Chapura's KeySuite, in order to sync contacts, calendars, notes and tasks (including categories) with Outlook 2003 in two computers (home and office.) I expected to be able to do the same with the Palm Pre Plus, but this is what Chapura have told me:
"We only offer software that syncs with Palm OS or the Pre webOS devices. PocketMirror would be our software that works with these devices. The Pre webOS does not support categories for the calendar and contacts. The calendar and contact categories remain in Outlook. They just do not sync to the Pre. The tasks and notes applications that come on the Pre do not support categories. However, in order to sync tasks and notes we had to create our own tasks and notes applications for the Pre. Our tasks and notes application do support categories."
"You cannot sync with more than one PC using our Pre software. It is only designed to allow you to sync the Pre with one PC. The only software we offer that will allow a handheld to sync with multiple PCs would be our Palm OS software."
Bummer. So this means that I will be able to sync Outlook 2003 to the Pre (albeit imperfectly -- no categories in calendars nor contacts), but I won't be abe to sync to a 2nd PC...

  • Diffulty synching with Chaos Sync for Palm

Lost my old TX, so bought a second-hand replacement. I've loaded Chaos Sync for Palm.
The Configure button in Hotsync Manager - which I think I need in order to get the system to use Chaos Sync - is greyed out. Syncs fine with Palm Desktop - but that's not what I need?
Any suggestions as to why the Configure option is currently unavilable?

I can not synchronize my Palm Treo 680 Unlocked with Windows XP Home and MS Office 2007.

  • Hot Synch issue-accidently synch with another person

Some help would be great.  I accidently hot synched with a friend's computer.  Now her name is at the top of my Palm screen when I try to hot synch, and also on my palm desktop hot synch.  I am unable to hot synch anything.  What should I do??  I tried to restart, and her name is still there.  what do I do??  Thank you
    Post relates to: Palm TX

Was this the first Hotsync you have ever done?  There really isn't a way you can "accidentally" HotSync to another name.  A blank device will trigger Palm Desktop to ask you "Create a New User" or "Use and Existing Account".  You will have to pick one of the options.  If you chose the latter and picked her name, then that's where all the info came from.
Hard Reset your device to start over again.  When you HotSync to your computer, pick "Create a New User" and choose a name you wish.

  • Since 5.0.1 desktop upgrade, BBerry no longer synchs with outlook

I use Outlook 2007 on a Windows 7 PC for the calendar, contacts, memos.  I don't do email on the blackberry at all because my family runs its own email server on a UNIX machine we keep here at home and the Verizon Blackberry setup for the Curve 8330 doesn't play well with that arrangement.
For email I use Thunderbird connected to our own server via IMAP.
The BBerry was fine synching with the Outlook calendar, contacts, memos but sans email in previous desktop versions.  It would complain about lack of Outlook as the default email handler, but it would soldier on and do the synch.
NOW, apparently, if Outlook is not the default email handler, it cannot find anything to synch with and it just quits.
I would rather trash Outlook completely and find some other Calendar app than to use Outlook email as my default.  I moved to the BBerry from a Palm Treo.  I could dig that back out and just use the BBerry as a phone if I needed to (The Palm calendar app is better on the PDA, worse on the desktop).
For now, I think I'm going to have to uninstall the desktop 5.0.1 and reinstall the old 4.7 version until someone can tell me how to make the synch work again... (And in the forum I can see that I am not the only one having problems with this).

Well, I found something I can live with to make this work.
Using the 5.0.1 desktop... before I connect the Blackberry to synch, I set the Windows 7 default email to Outlook.  Then I synch the calendar.  Then I set the Windows email default back to Thunderbird.  That works.
I can live with this for awhile, but I would hope that eventually the desktop would allow you to synch even if you don't use Outlook email. *sigh*  I really don't need it to synch email at all... and with the amount of spam I'm filtering, trying to cope on the BBerry wouldn't be much fun anyway.

  • Synch with e2 and laptop

When I bought the e2 (may or june 2010), it wouldn't synch with my laptop.  I went to the web and found a program that enabled me to synch,  It worked fine until 13 December 2010.  I have been trying to figure it out, and can't remember what program I used.  Can anyone help?
    Thanx.

    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

Assuming your desktop is Windows Vista or Windows 7?  Have you changed computers?  Do you use Palm Desktop, or Microsoft Outlook?  When was the last time you Hotsynced to your computer?
Perhaps you used Palm Desktop 6.2.2?  Select the Support tab at the top of the screen, click on Handhelds, and look for Palm Desktop 6.2.2.

  • ICal not Sync with Palm

    Hi
I have just purchased a Palm Tungsten E2. Installed the most recent Palm Desktop 4.2.1 software, via Palm's website and did several hotsync's to make sure it worked . I have managed to add the Palm to iSync and Syncing appeared to work (The iSnyc log states that
    10:40:07 Connecting to paullefever,
    then
    10:40:07 Device "paullefever" connected.
In the iSync drop down box, I have Calenders ticked for both home and work.
However, when I sync, my iCal data had not been transferred, it does not appear on the Palm device.
    What I am doing wrong?
    Thanks

    Dear Michael
Thanks for your comprehensive response on how to fix Palm synching problems. I had already deleted Groups from my Address Book a couple of weeks ago, following advice from a user discussion somewhere, and it did indeed fix the problem I was having with synching with my Palm Treo 600. However, I may still follow your advice and buy the Missing Synch software so my Treo/Apple interface works better (e.g. so I can use Groups again) and can hold off on buying an iPhone a bit longer.
The reason I was revisiting Apple Discussions on this topic just now is that I have come across a weird problem while trying to get FoldersSynchronizer to update my bootable backup disk after my 10.5.x upgrade. The problem is that, after installing Leopard and doing the required things to get Palm synching working again, a symlink with an OS-X-Finder-incompatible name has appeared. (Which FoldersSynchronizer doesn't like, though Unix seems OK with it in Terminal.)
As the link is related both to Palm and iSync, it could conceivably have something to do with the unresolved synching problems you give workarounds for.
As this symlink was presumably created by Apple it should be reported to an appropriate Apple engineer, but I thought I might bounce this discovery off you first because you seem knowledgeable about these issues and may know whom to target at Apple. The offending symlink is
    ~/Library/Application\ Support/SyncServices/Local/clientdata/com.apple.Palm:3146679877
(the problem being, of course, the colon).
