Synchro Iphone from PC to MAC

Hello,
I just buy a MacBook Pro and I would like to syncrho my Iphone 3G on it.
I have this Iphone since one year and it is synchronised on my PC and ITunes.
How can I do now to use my Iphone only on my new MacBook?
I don't want to lose all my contacts.
Thank you very much for your help

Thank you for this quick and detailed answer.:
I did exactly what you told me, but:
+-Disable auto sync when an ipod/iphone is connected under preferences in itunes.+ OK
+-After doing this, put at least one contact in address book,+ OK
+-Connect your phone with itunes running,+ OK
+-right click your phone in the left device pane, choose "reset warnings".+
+When complete,+
I don't understands "when complete", because when I right click on "reset warnings" nothing happen?
+-sync your phone.+
+This should generate a pop up about your contacts asking if you want to merge or replace, select merge & your contacts should populate address book.+
Sorry, but no pop up asking to merge or replace contacts?
Only the contact I create is synchronized...
Mark

• How do i reconfigure my iphone from windows to mac?

I would like to reformat my iphone from windows to mac without loosing the music on my iphone. Is this possible? Or would I have to factory reset my phone?

There is no reformat necessary as such. An iPhone can only synchronize to a single computer, though, so when you connect your iPhone to the new computer, you'll be told that your iPhone is synched to a different computer and given the choice of erasing the content on the iPhone or transferring iTunes Store purchases to the new iTunes. The best approach is probably to copy the entire contents of the iTunes folder in your Windows system to your Mac. Then your iPhone should still think it's being synched to the same library and be fine. Someone here can point you to instructions on how to move your iTunes library if you need them.

• Transfer iPhone from PC to Mac without losing anything

I know this question has been asked dozens of times, but I just want to get an answer that I know will work for me.
When I got my first iPod I had to set it up on my family's computer as I didn't own a computer. Later on I got an iPhone, and while I had my Mac, I set it up with the family computer to keep my music.
I've been wanting to move my iPhone to my Mac for awhile, but all the guides I've found don't give me all the info I need. I want to keep my iPhone exactly as it is, so that when I connect it with my Mac it acts as if nothing is wrong. I've seen how to consolidate the iTunes library, but I'm confused about App Data. I want to keep all my scores on my games, and I haven't seen a straight answer on whether they will stay.
So is there a way to move my music, apps, photos, texts, data, app locations, play count, notes, contacts, etc. to a new computer? If so is there an online guide that outlines the best way to do this? Is it as easy as following this guide? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
My PC is running XP and my MacBook Pro is running OSX 10.6.8.
Thanks in advance!

Basically you need to move the Entire iTunes Library from the PC to the Mac...

• Photos on Iphone from PC to Mac- not "iphone photos"

I uploaded all of my pictures to my iphone from my PC under the impression that when I opened itunes on my Mac it would give me the option to upload those pictures to my computer.... Does it only allow you to upload pictures taken from iphone or is there a way I can get all those pictures on to the Mac a different way... I no longer have that PC and will be devastated to lose all those pictures otherwise!

There is no way to do this that Apple supports and if you are able to, photos transferred to the iPhone are optimized for viewing on the iPhone. The original resolution of these photos will be lost, which is why Apple doesn't include the option.

• Switching iPhone from PC to Mac, from one computer to another??

I just got my iPhone. Haven't activated it yet, b/c I also ordered a Macbook Pro. Should I wait until the Macbook comes to activate my iPhone? Or can I just activate it using my PC, and then switch it over to the Macbook? I know that you cant do that with an iPod unless you wipe it completely.
I ordered Parallels Desktop 3.0 for Mac, so I think with a cable I'll be able to load all my iTunes onto my new Mac from my current PC. Will Parallels be able to do anything regarding iPhone migration (contacts, etc.)?

Hey appleuser101,
You should run into any issues. I activated my iPhone on a PC and use it regularly on my Macs.
This article provides more detailed information on syncing information to the iPhone.

• Switching iphone from pc to mac

previously owned a pc which my iphone is synced to, bought a mac but cant upload music

Hello.
Could you be a bit more specific, please?
Where are you trying to get the music from and to?
If this is about the music not loading from your mac to your phone, then the issue is likely that the phone is still tied to the library on the PC. If you have already migrated your iTunes library to the mac, then moving a copy of the backup file to the mac and restoring the phone with it should fix the problem.
Again. more details will allow more specific answers.

• Taking iPhone from PC to Mac - Camera Roll question!

OK, I have an iPhone 3GS that is sync'd with iTunes on my PC. I have created a new iTunes library on my new Mac and would like to transfer the phone to be synced with this. When I connect the iPhone to the Mac it asks if I would like to "Erase and Sync", which I'm happy to do, I agreed this and it then stated that the phone was registered to another iTunes account and would I be happy to change it to the account on this library (it must be the same iTunes account as I only have one.)
Now I don't mind anything being deleted or restarted, but the only thng I really REALLY dont want to lose is my Camera Roll. Can anyone explain what will happen to this if I go ahead an sync it all to the new Mac?

Set up iTunes on your new Mac. Log into your iTunes account (under the "store" menu).
GO TO THE PREFERENCES AND DISABLE AUTOMATIC SYNCING FOR IPOD'S AND IPHONES!!
While you're in there, select the option to "copy music to my iTunes Library" and "Keep iTunes Library Organized". (or whatever is called, I can't remember and since I'm copying files to mine right now, I can't check the menu)
Copy all your music, movies, apps, podcasts etc. over to the new iTunes on the Mac (you can copy everything to an external drive and then just drop it in the iTunes window where your "music" would normally be displayed. iTunes will copy it all to the proper locations in your new Mac.
Now when you plug in your iPhone it will show up in iTunes and you can right click, control click, double finger tap, whatever you decide to use on your iPhone's icon to access the contextual menu and select Backup. This will start the process of backing up your iPhone on your new computer. After you back it up, you should be able to sync without fear of losing all your texts and such. The only thing I don't know is if you can copy the Library files and such from the PC to the Mac so you can keep your playlists. I'm pretty sure it doesn't go the other way as I just tried to do it migrating my iTunes to a new Windows 7 install. If I remember correctly, iTunes may ask you some questions about adding the iPhone to that iTunes account but I know you will be able to back up before anything gets changed, I just bought a new MacBook Pro and had to go through it myself.
This exact same thing happens when you move from one Mac to another, as I just did, except I can copy my Library files and thus don't lose any playlists either.
Good Luck

• Transfering iPhone from PC to Mac

I sold my desktop PC a few weeks ago and saved all the backup info and other folders. After selling the computer, I hooked my iPhone up to my wife's PC laptop and it let me back it up. I ended up replacing my 3GS with a new one, but when I restored it from the backup I made on my wife's computer... all it restored was the notes and photos and such... not the apps and saved games.
I bought a MBP last night and would like to transfer all of that info including backups to this Mac and restore the phone from a backup that includes the apps and saved games.
My question is, what is the best way to transfer the files to the Mac... where are the folders located and what do I truly need to transfer in order to get everything back on my phone. Also, what is the process I need to go through in order to correctly restore everything including apps and saved games?
Thanks.

I end up asking him some questions about the battery and he tells me it's fine to leave the Macbook plugged in at all times, when the Mac genius at the Apple store last night told me that the cells in the battery need to keep fresh and it's best to drop it to 5% and then recharge to 100% instead of keeping it plugged in all the time.
There is nothing wrong with keeping your MacBook plugged in all the time as long as you go through at least one complete discharge and charge cycle once a month, which can be done at one time if the computer is never unplugged, or this can be done gradually at different discharge and charge levels when using the computer when unplugged at various times followed by plugging it back in before the batter is completely discharged, which is common and usually the norm with a laptop.
The following was copied from this link.

*For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, it’s important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally*. Apple does not recommend leaving your portable plugged in all the time. *An ideal use would be a commuter who uses her MacBook Pro on the train, then plugs it in at the office to charge. This keeps the battery juices flowing. If on the other hand, you use a desktop computer at work, and save a notebook for infrequent travel, Apple recommends charging and discharging its battery at least once per month.* Need a reminder? Add an event to your desktop’s iCal.
Apple does not recommend leaving your portable plugged in all the time as in never unplugging it, which usually isn't common with a portable computer.

• Move iPhone from PC to Mac

Hi All,
Just looking for some tips before I make the big move from my virus ridden PC to a MacBook, which I plan to purchase in the next couple of days.
I currently have my iPhone synced with itunes on my PC. I would like to move this to itunes on my mac. Are there any potential problems here that I should be wary of? Is there an easy way to do this? Do i just have to "deauthorise" the PC itunes prior to the move?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the discussions,
Backup your iTunes library and restore it on your Mac: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1382
Authorize your Mac and setup your account in Tunes. Deselect automatic syncing and set up at least one contact and event on your Mac. Connect your phone and backup manually. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Your phone will be wiped during your first sync and restored from the backup you made when you first connected. After restoring your library your media content should be the same as on your PC.

• IPhone from pc to Mac

i've just moved to Mac, i understand i have to lose my itunes library if i'm to sync with my new mac - this is not a major headache, as most of it is from cds that i have so can be replaced. purchased songs and apps can be moved over ok, according to other threads here but what about my texts? will they all be wiped? if this is the case i will be soooo annoyed at Apple and won't be syncing iphone with my Mac! this has been wrecking my head so anyone who can help, it would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

• How can I sync my Iphone to a new iTunes account on a new Mac Book as no longer have the old Mac Book and im unable to use the same Apple ID, I want to sync music to my Iphone from my new Mac Book, new Mac Book and iphone in same Apple ID???

Basically, my iphone has been in the same apple ID as my dads iphone and mac book, so my iphone has always been synced to his macbook. I bought myself a mac book the other day and want to sync my iphone to it. However i have obviously put my mac book in a different apple id as i know pay for things i download myself, how can I sync my iphone to my mac book without losing all the music and pictures on it?  ive now put my iphone into my new apple id thinking this might help? ive also tried clicking 'manually manage music and video' but this doesnt seem to work, it basically says you have to erase your iphone to sync to a new itunes!
HELPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

" how can I sync my iphone to my mac book without losing all the music and pictures on it?"
You cannot.  Copy everything you want form the old computer to the new one, then sync it.
it basically says you have to erase your iphone to sync to a new itunes!
Correct Iphone will sync, or manually manage, with one and only one computer/library at a time. Syncing, or manually managing, to another will indeed erase the current content.

• Can I disassociate my IPhone from a previous Mac without access to the previous computer?

My iPhone was once synced with my ex's mac that I no longer have access to. Now when I try to update through the app store, it is showing my ex's e-mail and
asking for his password.  This pops up when I try to to updat apps on my computer:
This pops up whe I try to update apps on my iphone:
[email protected] is my ex's e-mail.  Can I fix this without knowing his password or having access to his computer?

Delete those apps you can't access. Apps are forever tied to the Apple ID used to purchased them.

• Transfer iPhone from pc to mac

I have my iphone synced to a very old pc and want to transfer it to a mac pro.  I have heard this is very complex and you risk losing everything.  Does anyone have any advice?

Hello ninjahen,
Congratulations on your new computer!  I certainly understand your concern with syncing your iPhone with a new computer.
To avoid any issues with using a new computer, I recommend transferring your iTunes Library to the new computer and to backup your iPhone.  Find steps to accomplish this in the following links:
