Hi,
I have my Z10 connected to an Exchange Server (ActiveSync) and have the sync timeframe set to 7 days as i don't need to see emails older than that on the device. I also use Outlook on my Laptop to see the same emails.
Question is : I assume the Z10 will automatically remove emails when they reach 7 days old but will the device delete off the Z10 only or will it delete the emails off the Exchange server as well considering i use Activesync?
Cheers.
They are simply not sync anymore if they are older than the number of days you set, I have mine set for 30 days and l have the Z10 since launch day in Canada (2013/02/05) and all the emails from back then are still on the server just not sync with the Z10.
BTW The PlayBook is working the same way for the native email program
Using the Playbook and the Z10 and the Z30 and loving them

I use to send my email then all of a sudden I cant send mail, I am new to apple

"icloud exchange" - this seems a contradiction.  There's icloud email and there's Exchange email.  Describe your problem with more detail.

Yeah, I've done that. And the I click the mail app to try to check my mail, and that screen that I described above shows up.

  • I had an old macbook so icloud was set up only with my iphone and ipad. Now I have a new macbook pro but can't synchronise icloud with it. It ask me to create a new account.

    Hi,
I had an old macbook, too old to put it on icloud. So when I created my icloud account, I did it with my iphone and my ipad. Now I bought a new macbook pro.I wanted to synchronise it to my icloud account but it tell me that this account is with someone and that I have to create a new one. Seems like it does not recognised my account.
    What should I do?

Let me see if I've gotten this right! You want to remove an account from BOTH machines? Do this for your new machine first, then for the other.
Click the Apple logo on the top left of the screen, System Preferences, Users and Groups (under Systems), unlock the lock in the window if its locked (you need to know the password), select the user that you wish to remove, and click the - sign next to the + sign for Login options. A window will pop up with some options. Select Delete this user and securely, and click 'Delete user'.
After this, do an update from the App Store.
Thats all there is to it.
For the other machine repeat the process except for one thing. Before you delete the user in this case YOU, you will have to give Administrator priviledges to your son bu checking the box 'Allow user to administer this computer'.
Do NOT do anything from Finder ... if you dont know how to fix the consequences of the problems caused.
There is no need to unauthorize your iTunes account on your new machine. Do it on the old machine though.

  • Sync problems with iCloud + Exchange

Since 3-4 weeks the email/calendar synchronization with my iPhone's (3GS and 4S) and iPad 2 is nor working properly any more,
I have in parallel installed an iCloud account for private and an Exchange account for business use.
Only if I turn the iPhones/iPad off and on it syncs for one time. After that the email app always shows the turning wheel and "Receiving emails" and does nothing more at all.
As soon as I delete my iCloud account on the iPhone's/iPad the Exchange account works perfect again without any problems. As soon as I reinstall iCloud all email/calendar sync for Exchange and iCloud is dead again.
So there must be a problem with the iCloud sync which also affects the Exchange sync.
As long as I used my Exchange account together with Gmail I had no problems at all.
Hopefully Apple fixes this problem with iCloud within the next days otherwise I have to go to Google back again.
Any people out there with the same problem?

I have boiled the problem down to just the icloud contacts.  If I leave them off everything is fine when I turn them on my exchange accounts will not update.

  • Synchronise iCloud MacBookPro / iPhone

I am using iCloud on my MacBookPro (Mail app + webmail) and iPhone 4S.
Recently I experienced that iCloud seems not to synchronise seemlessly with my Mac.
Problem occured with both iOS 6 and 5.
When reading an e-mail on my Mac, it is not automatically marked as read on my iPhone (unless refresh Mail on my iPhone manually)
but the other way around my Mac is immediately updated when reading a message on my iPhone.
Looks like a similar problem with IMAP as Hotmail elsewhere.
All settings are on 'Push' and also already removed my iCloud account from my iPhone and did multiple 'switch off/on' as per
the other support pages. No difference afterwards.
Sometimes it also looks like messages are not coming in automatically/immediately on my iPhone too. However this is not
    always the case.
It seems that iCloud is 'pushing' new messages to your phone, but not stay seemlessly synchronised with a Mac (or webmail)
which I would have expected by using only Apple products. To be honest it's a bit annoying you need to manually refresh your
iPhone to have the 'same' mailbox as on your laptop/webmail.
Is this another 'setting' issue or is this 'normal'? In the past I used other mail clients and stayed synchronised perfectly.
    Thank you.
    Rgds Michael

You can do this. The iPhone will only sync with one computer for music/videos/other media, but can be synced with multiple computes for calendars/contacts/etc.
On your computer at home (with the music you want to sync), with the iPhone connected, select it in the device list in iTunes and set the music tab to sync music (and in the other tabs, videos, podcasts, ringtones, if you like). In the Info tab on the computer at home, make sure the options to sync calendars and contacts are UNchecked. On the computer at work, open iTunes without the iPhone connected. Go to Preferences > Syncing and check the box to "Disable automatic syncing for all iPhones and iPods." Connect the iPhone, select it in the device list in iTunes and in the Summary tab, check the box to "Manually manage music and videos." Then, on the Info tab, select the options to sync calendars and contacts. Then you can Sync. Uncheck the box in Preferences > Syncing that you checked earlier.
From now on, when you connect at home, your music will sync, and when you connect at work, your calendars and contacts will sync. Also (if you want) when you are connected at work you can click on playlists on the iPhone in the device list, and you'll see your music grayed out, but you can still select songs and play them through the speakers of the computer at work.
    Hope this helps...

  • How to sync contacts in iPhone, iCloud, Exchange, Hotmail?

I have contacts in four different places: Microsoft Exchange (on a Mac), Hotmail, iPhone 5s and iCloud. I have cleaned up all duplicates in all the lists but am not managing to get them all to sync. My iPhone has 660 contacts on it, iCloud (and Mac Contacts) has 502 and Exchange has 527. I can't figure out why there are contacts on my phone that have not synced with any of the other contact lists. I do not appear to have a group 'on my iphone' on the phone and there are no duplicates. How can I get all 660 contacts from my phone onto iCloud and Exchange?

    Hi rajeshkumarfromindia!
If you already have an iCloud account, you should be able to simply turn on contacts in the iCloud section of your settings on the phone in order to merge your local contacts on your iPhone into the contacts of iCloud:

If you are having issues with the contact syncing function, try the steps for troubleshooting located in the following article:

  • Mail constantly synchronising (iCloud imap - Mavericks)

Since upgrading to Mavericks, I have had a slew of problems. One major issue is:
Mail is constantly synchronizing every imap folder. As soon as it finishes, If i click on any new message, folder, or file a mesage, etc.... Mail will start syncing every folder again.
This is not a big issue at home with 500M speed internet, but at work and on the road where I have as slow as 3M speed, it slows down everything, since moving messages or loading messages with attachments crawl when the synchronizing is going on.
Any ideas how to end it from synchronizing non stop?

Rebuild? I just built them last night for first time, as I did a clean install of Mavericks and fresh install of my IMAP iCloud account so that i could get a clean download of all emails. I suppose I can try that again tonight

  • I use Google as my primary Contacts manager and it is set up as an Exchange account on my iPhone. Does this mean I can't sync my contacts to iCloud?

When I activated the sync contacts with iCloud option, only 93 of 912 contacts showed up in iCloud.com. I assume it is because all 829 missing are considered as Exchange contacts. As stated when you activate Contacts sync in iCloud, Exchange cannot be synced. Is there a way I could sync all my Google contacts to iCloud?

Is there a way I could sync all my Google contacts to iCloud?
import them to your OSX adressbook. This is what gets synced to the icloud, nothing else.

  • Synchronisation Contacts with Exchange incomplete

Dear Nokia, there is a serious problem with your you Synchronisation with Exchange: not all contact fields are being synchronised.
After several test the following appears:
    1) Some phone number fields are NOT synchronised to Exchange and as such not backed up nor available in outlook.
    2) Some Outlook field are not copied to the phone so you miss them when "on the road"
    3) The Outlook fields "Home Phone" and "Home Phone2" are both synchronised to the nokia field "telefon(private". If you use both fields in Outlook, then 2 Fields are created in the phone, both called "telefon(privat)" so you don't know wich is which.
Now in contrast with Windows Mobile Nokia never designed their fields taking account of exchange but had their own definitions instead. As business users are using exchange as their primary contact DB, the mail for exchange on the nokia is nice, but dangerous at the same time. You might think all you contacts entered or corrected at the phone are backed up to Exhange, but they are not. So you must backup the phone contacts manually. Obvoiusly, Windows Mobile doesn't have this problem. Also, the fields not being copied to Exhange are not marked accordingly. So you don't know which fields you better do not use on the phone or at least you know they are not copied/backed up.
I see 2 or 3 solutions to cope better with the problem:
    1) Nokia adopts fully to the exchange contact fields. Would be the most future oriented solution.
    2) Nokia marks the fields on the phone according to the synchronisation status with exchange. This would be already a big help. This can be a color, lettertype, litle star or what so ever.
    3) Nokia keeps the old fields and adds the fields from exchange not being copied currently. Phone Fields not being copied are marked accordingly.
The bring clarity to the readers and nokia: the following exchange phone number fields are NOT copied to the phone:
    - Assistant's Phone
    - Callback
    - Car Phone
    - Company Main Phone
    - Home Phone
    - Home Phone 2 (mixed up with telefon(private)
    - Other Phone
    - Primary Phone
    - TTY/TDD Phone.
The following phone Fields (from german tel. version) are NOT being copied to exchange:
    - mobieltelefon (privat)
    - mobieltelefon (dienstlich)
    - Videoanruf
    - Videoanruf(priv)
    - Vid.anruf(dienstlich)
    - Fax(privat)
    - Internettel.(priv)
    - Internettel.(dienstlich)
    - Push to talk
    - Gemeinsame Ansicht
    - SIP
The most irritating fields are those for the mobile numbers and potentially Internet. One tends to use them not realising you will not find the number back in Outlook.
As being said, the very first step should be to distinguish optically in the phone between fields being copied and those which are NOT.

I would think that if your IT policy prohibits personal contacts in your Outlook contacts, then they would certainly prohibit you syncing the same device at work and at home.
If you merge personal contacts and work contacts, they appear under your Outlook Contacts - separate from the global address book. This is no different then having your spouse listed in your contacts folder.
One thing you can do to keep them separate, is to create a new folder in Contacts (at the same level as Contacts) call it "personal" and keep all your personal contacts there. They are not co-mingled with "contacts" and on the iPHone you have distinct groups. You do have personal info on work computer though - Is your IT policy that strict that you can have no personal stuff on a work PC? If so, then I think you are still breaking the rules by doing it with your iPhone.

  • Switching a MobileMe & local Calender to iCloud

Hello, I have recently upgraded my old MacBook from SnowLeopard to Lion (a little late, I know, but it won't go to Mountain Lion). Until now the calendar on the MacBok was a hybrid of local and MobileMe stuff. Now I want iCal to display the iCloud Calendar that my iPhone, iPad and iMac already have. But I am afraid that if I just switch on the synchronisation iCloud will double every item that is there in both versions of the calendar (like everything back from the start of iCloud to when I started to have an electronic calendar on my first Palm - years and years). So what should I do: Delete all calendar data on the MacBook and then wait for it to fill itself again from iCloud? Or transfer a file or files from the iMac while being off the net? And if so, which ones? I'd be very grateful for a few pointers. Cheers, Chris

Hello, turns out that it was much easier than I thought. I just exported the calendar from the iMac and imported it to the MacBook overwriting the file there. Then I switched on the sync. Sorry to have bothered whoever read this. Cheers, Chris

  • Integrating iCloud with Google Sync?

For a long time, I've had my iPhone sync with Google Calendar and Google Contacts via Exchange. I've also had iCal and Address Book on my Mac sync with Google Calendar and Google Contacts using their own built-in Google synchronization options.
Now that I've upgraded my iPhone to iOS 5, and I'm about to upgrade my Mac to OS 10.7.2, I'm nervous about how well iCloud, Exchange, and the Mac-Google syncing options will cooperate. I don't want duplicates and I definitely don't want to lose any data.
Has anyone else successfully handled this configuration? Any suggestions?

Also check out SyncMan to sync from Address Book's iCloud to Google:
    http://wateree.net/syncman/
When you're on iCloud, confirm that all of your addresses are there.  To move contacts from "On My Mac" to "iCloud" just put them in a group, an then drag that group over.  Then finally you can delete the "On My Mac" contacts entirely, with everything only in the syncing "iCloud" section.
Then if you want that same content in Google Contacts you can run SyncMan.  I used it last week and it ran fine -- syncing contacts that are in "iCloud."  I have no "On my Mac" group, at all.

  • HT4898 How do I keep my mobile me email account across my iphone, ipad, and mac once I am on icloud?

How do I keep my mobile me email account synced across my iphone, ipad, and mac once I am on icloud?

Basically iCloud will do it for you.
All you have to do on your iOS devices is login to your iCloud account and enable mail synchronisation, iCloud will do the rest.
Your profile states that you are using OS X 10.5.8, which cannot run iCloud. If this is the case, you can still use iCloud mail, but will have to enter the details manually.(iCloud requires OS X 10.7.2 or better on a Mac)
Delete your mail account from Mail preferences and set it up again using the Mail Server Information.
Some users have apparently encountered issues using this information in pre-Lion set ups (I haven't), Roger Wilmut has kindly provided instructions for those who find themselves with this problem.
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard

  • IOS7 ActiveSync Exchange Multiple Subfolders

In iOS 5.x and 6.x there was the option to specify which subfolders in the inbox that you could automatically sync, this option does not seem to be available in iOS7 as far as I can see.  As I recieved quite a large number of emails daily, I rely heavily filtering mail to specific subfolders.  This worked very well previously... is there a reason this option was removed or is it simply a bug?
If I browse to the subfolder it updates, but I really need this to automatically sync and send audio/vibrate notification (even if the icon itself doesn't update, which has always baffled me why it doesn't).  Is there an option somewhere in iOS7 that I am missing?  Is this a bug?  Really don't want to have to redesign my mail filtering rules...

    Hi!!!
I am on ios 7.0.2. I found the sub folder option available for my exchange account.
If I am not wrong, you want to sync all your exchange sub folders automatically.
Just go to settings -> Mails, Contacts, Calendars -> Fetch new data -> (you should see your configured accounts like iCloud, exchange mail etc. now) -> select the exchange account for which you want to auto push mails -> (now you will see options for 'select schedule') select the "PUSH" -> Now you should see the PUSH mail boxes and can select whatever folders you want....
That's how I found in my iPhone 5. I will be very happy if this little info can help you out. Besides, you can try delete and re adding the account.

  • Synchro Exchange Iphone

    Bonjour,

With a year left in your contract, that would imply that your phone is already a year old.  Within the first 30 days of purchase, you can reurn a phone under the "buyers remorse" clause, but after that, your best option is to try to sell your old phone to buy a new one.
With one year left on your contract, you would also not qualify for the "new discount" pricing, so you either pay the full price, or pay the "new discount" plus $250 and get a new 2 year contract.  This would mean that the 16GB iPhone 4S wouldn't cost you $199, but in fact $449 and you would have a new 2 year contract starting the day of your new purchase.
