Synchronisation won't work - help!

Hi, I just set up Synchronisation but none of my contacts, or calender are showing as synchronised with this site. It's working fine with google and facebook, but not the Sony Ericsson sync facility.The instructions in the support section didn't help as they don't correspond with my X10 (2.1). Also it says I'd be sent a PIN in an sms, which I haven't. Has anyone else experienced this problem, or can anyone help please?

First bit of troubleshooting for this would be to contact your network and make sure you have a full Internet account.
If the settings are correct I would advise creating a new account on the SE Sync site: http://www.sonyericsson.com/wportal/uss/promotion?cc=gb&lc=en
Give that a try and let me know how it goes?

IPod won't work - Help!

I only just received my iPod Nano 4GB as a gift and it won't work. It works fine while plugged into my PC, and I can import music from iTunes to it, but as soon as I unplug it, the screen goes a bit fuzzy, freezes and slowly fades out - despite the fact that the iPod is fully charged. It won't allow me to reset it (via the toggle button/Menu/select either, and it won't respond when plugged into the mails either, only the computer.
Please help if you can! I've never used my iPod and I'll be really upset if it turns out to be broken - especially as I'm from the UK and all of the complimentary helplines I can find on the Apple website are for US only...

Hard Drive failure - various boot modes won't work, HELP!

First of all, sorry for the essay, but I didn't want to miss out on possible crucial details that could help!
A couple of weeks ago, my beloved 27" iMac had a hard drive failure. It won't boot, but instead goes to the grey 'no entry' sign when booting up. I tried holding Cmd + V on boot and this message repeated itself whilst failing to boot:

I'm not sure how much of that is useful, but I thought I'd copy it all down anyway.
I googled error number = 19 and found articles on an invalid b-tree node and corrupt journals, leaving me to believe that because I recently deleted a Windows Vista partition and reformed the overall HD into a 2TB OSX volume, some windows data may have been left over and corrupted the journal?
So it fails to boot normaly, using Cmd V, and using the OSX install disk, as well as failing to boot from the DiskWarrior 4 DVD I purchased from my local Apple Reseller because I'd heard that it's very good at helping with issues such as what I think my HD is having. I tried Disk Utility whilst booting from the install disk, and tried to repair the drive, and each time I tried it said that invalid content was present in the journal but the disk repair had been successful.
Am I right in thinking that my data is on the drive, it's just that OSX won't register the drive's existence because of a corrupted journal? (the little I know of hard drives is shining brightly through at this point, I'm sure!)
I also tried to boot using target mode by connecting my iMac to a MacBook Pro also running Snow Leopard, but, whilst the iMac clearly went into target mode (bouncing firewire icon on screen), my HD never appeared on the desktop of the MacBook Pro, nor in Disk Utility.
Whilst I have AppleCare, I haven't tried taking it to a mac store yet because of two reasons; 1. The last time I did this I had HD failure on my old 2008 MBP and, whilst I told them to keep the data on it, the first thing they did was reformat the disk. Needless to say, it worked, but I lost all my valuable Data! The second reason is that it's bloody heavy, and I don't own a car!
Before people go on about the way I should have backed up my data, I did, and that's gone as well! D:

OS version: not the very latest snow leopard but the one before.

I'm not sure about the DW disk. Check that out at Alsoft's website. Apple doesn't provide data recovery services.
Apple has records of your iTunes purchases. However, the licensing for music only permits you to download it once. I'm surprised that you don't have backups.
If you get an external enclosure in which to put the drive then you might try accessing it from the MBP as an external drive. If you have an external drive you could try using recovery software:
General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten by using recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro. Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive. Two free alternatives are Disk Drill and TestDisk. Look for them and demos at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.
Also visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on Data Recovery.
Beyond this you would need to send the drive off to a data recovery service which will be extremely expensive.

Ipod touch 4g- displays power cable on screen and won't work- help!

My son got an ipod touch 4g for christmas today but we can't get it to work. It's charged and brand new but the screen shows a power cable and itunes icon but won;t let us do anything other than turn it on and off. can anyone help?

I expect you are deleting your history at the end of your session, as opposed to only clearing cache.
Make sure your are saving history, then in the settings that you are not clearing history.

FWIW,
App-tabs are considered part of browsing history so you must save your browsing history for app-tabs to work.

N97 - MAPS - Won't work HELP!

and everytime i try and run it it opens for a little while and then reverts back to the menu!

When i uninstall nokia maps and go to an earlier version then it works fine.
If i then go to "software" update and re-install v 3.3 and run it then it won't run, just keeps loading and then going back to the menu, when i mean menu i mean the actual menu for where you would select the program to run not the map menu....

Flash Player Won't Work - Help?!?!

I am having some trouble downloading Flash Player to work with Safari and my friend is also having the same issue.
I have done pretty much every procedure: uninstalled, deleted plugins but still no luck.
It reaches 30% installation and then just says 'it's lost connection' but then won't do anything after that.
SOMEONE HELP ME!!!

I tried doing that but it tells me that:

as it is unable to connect to 'download.macromedia.com'

Replaced parts on Iphone. Still won't work help!

Hey,
I replaced my lcd screen, battery after girlfriend washed it. It worked but wouldn't charge so i bought the charge port, speaker piece and replaced it, now it won't even turn on at all, even when plugged in.
I also had my sim card changed to a different phone while i waited for the parts. Would this have anything to do with the phone not working at all?
What should I do, any help would be great!

This device does not support two-sided printing. Two sided printing appears on Windows computers as a program offered through the OS and does not actually print two sided, it merely prints the odd pages and then prompts you to reload them to print the even. Through the paper handling selection of the Macintosh print window you can also print odd pages and then reload the pages to print the even, although you would need to launch two commands.

Hi--I can't get itunes to open because it says "the file cannot be opened because it was created by a newer version of itunes." I have installed newest versions of Windows & itunes recently, as the troubleshooter instructed, to no avail...Help!!!

This error prevents iTunes from launching. The library file was modified to work with the newer iTunes version, so it is no longer compatible with the previous version. The good news, however, is that Apple does backup the iTunes library file into a subdirectory that you can use to revert back to the previous version.
To recover a previous version of the iTunes Library.itl file, use the following steps:
Open up your My Documents\My Music folder.
We will first backup the current version. Rename iTunes Library.itl to something like iTunes Library.itl.bak.
Go into the My Documents\My Music\Previous iTunes Libraries folder.
You may see several files that start with iTunes Library and have a date included in the name. Copy the newest file in the folder.
Go back to the My Documents\My Music and paste the file from the previous step.
Rename the new copied file to iTunes Library.itl.
Your library should now be restored to the previous version of iTunes, and you should no longer receive the message.

Tried to update to iOS 4.3, after that IPad won't work, HELP!!

So I hooked up my 64GB+3G t itunes and started to update my IPad, Took an hour to backup and then I came back to check on the IPad, It said there was an error updating. I was like no worry I will just stay with the 4.2.1 update. But when I ejected my IPad and it said it needed to connect to itunes, I did that and it wouldn't recognize my IPad. So I went on this forum and to see if restoring my IPad was the only choice. I did and people said that it won't restore it will just show another error code and that their IPad was utterly dead. Any help to save my IPad? Anyone?

Recording my Keyboard Songs to Garageband won't Work - Help!

Everyone,
I'm trying to record songs from my keyboard to my MacBook via Garageband and I'm having difficulties doing so. I purchased a MIDIsport UNO 1-In/1-Out USB MIDI Interface cable in order to record these songs from my keyboard to my MacBook. I installed the driver and the software that came with this cable. I also went into System Preferences > Sound and, under Input, selected Line In under the Audio Line-in Port. Then, in Garageband, under new track I ensured I was adding a software instrument (the keyboard that was hooked up to my Macbook. Thereafter, I selected Preferences and ensured that the Audio Input was the built-in input. However, under MIDI status it says "0 MIDI inputs detected". On my keyboard, I ensured that the Host Select was set to Mac. Still, I'm unable to record songs from my keyboard to my Macbook. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First off, you don't have to change ANY settings.
All those things you changed pertained to AUDIO and
Audio and MIDI are two completely different things.
You can set those things any way you please while
working with MIDI.
As to your problem, this is only a guess, but check
their web site for updated drivers. What came with
the interface may be outdated and not work on an
intel based Mac.
Post back and let us know what you find.
Thank you so much for that suggestion! I updated the driver and sure enough, under Garageband preferences, it says that 1 MIDI device was detected. But, I hit the record button and I didn't hear anything during playback. (Recording was unsuccessful). Any suggestions?

Synchronisation won't work

I have version 4.7.0.25 running on Vista. When synchronising it reads the calender etc on the device OK but as soon as it reads the desktop calender it freezes with message 'Desktop Manager Stopped Working'.
The programme freezes and can only be started again by re-connecting the device and re-starting the programme. Then the same thing happens again!
I have reloaded the software several times
Any suggestions

your calendar database is corrupted in Outlook.
there is a tool to correct that, I do not remember the name.
by corrupted, it can be simply a field in an event that is not perfect, like an attachment or a bogus recurrence

As far as one of your original questions is concerned
The services drop-down menu doesn't drop down and the mouse-over color change doesn't happen for any of the menu items...
I can see a marked improvement there. I have had a look at your page in IE7, IE8 and FF.
I shall have a look at the CSS next.
