    Hi Kcolleary,
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I'm not sure what the error message says or whether you are on a Mac or PC, so please start with this article which gives a good starting point for troubleshooting update errors.

  • I can't sync photos from Mac to iPad.

I can't sync photos from Mac to ipad2 and i have read on the support page How to fix it but it won't work

Have the photos been taken with the iPad or have the photos been synced to the iPad Air? Photos synced with iTunes to iOS devices cannot be synced back. See this link:  iOS: Syncing photos using iTunes
If the photos have been synced to the iPad Air, you need an external app as JimHDK recommended. Or mail the photos, which will be tedious. To delete them from the iPad after transferring them, sync again with iTunes, but select no folders to sync.
If the photos have been taken with the iPad Camera, you can connect the iPad Air to your Mac using a USB cable and then to launch Image Capture or iPhoto to transfer the photos. But that will not transfer synced photos.

  • How can i get photos from mac to ipad ? please

hi all, i am in a mess !, some how a lot of photos have been deleted from my iPad, and i dont know how ?.
However i do still have these photos on my MacBookPro but i dont remember how i got them onto my iPad originally, over 2 years ago (this is nothing to do with Photo Stream)
So PLEASE PLEASE how do i get these photos back onto my iPad ?. I would rather not use iTunes, i think this may be why the photos have gone AWOL in the first place !!!.
iTunes always seems to be so dammed complicated for my liking
i have an APP called iExplorer but i cant work out how to get that to work, i can two Finder Windows, one for MacBookPro and one for iPad but something seems to be write (or read) protected, i can select all the photos on my MacBookPro in one window but i simply cannot drag them across to the iPad window !!!

    Hey Timmy,
I use Dropbox to get my photos to/from my iPad to my computer wirelessly (no iTunes). The process below is one I posted a few weeks ago for the opposite process than what you're wanting to do (from iPad to computer) but Dropbox will work both ways. Just set up a Dropbox folder on your computer and set up the Dropbox app on your iPad and they will both be in sync automatically.
    Hope this helps!

---from a post I did a few weeks ago---
The Dropbox app has a very cool auto-upload process that will automatically upload photos from the iPad Camera Roll to Dropbox.
First sign up for a free Dropbox account from your computer.
Then, download the free Dropbox app on your iPad.
Log in to the Dropbox app on the iPad with your new account and click on the Photos icon in the lower left corner of the screen (second one from the left).
Select "Enable Camera Upload" and "Only Wi-Fi." The upload process will begin for all existing photos in the Camera Roll.
From now on, all future photos taken by the iPad will automatically upload to the Dropbox folder. You can then download your photos from Dropbox to your computer by going to http://www.dropbox.com, logging in to your account, and downloading the photos. You can then put the photos on a USB drive or burn to a CD or upload them to a photo processing website.
    Hope this helps!

    Hi everyone,
We developed an app just for that, transferring from computer (mac or windows) to iPad and vice versa. Here is the website of the app and the link to the app on the app store:

The app lets you transfer photos and videos over your wifi network. Let us know if you have questions, we hope the app will be useful to you!

  • How do I transfer photos from Mac to iPad?

I have lot's of photos on my desktop computer and just bought an iPad.  How do I get selected albums from my Mac iPhoto to my iPad iPhoto?

Learn how to sync your iPad. There is a link to the iPad manual in Safari on your iPad. Also you can download the iBooks app and get the iPad manual there for free.
Connect your iPad to your computer. Run iTunes 10.7 or later on your computer. Select your iPad in iTunes. Check on the Photos tab. Select the photo albums you want on your iPad. Click on Apply or Sync.

  • Can I stream photos from Mac to iPad?

I can share my music library and movie library from my Mac to my iPad, but what about my photo library?

    dxironman wrote:
I recommend the stream to me app. It's 3 bucks and you can stream pics, music, movies. Works great.
I was making the assumption that the OP was referring to Home Sharing. Third party apps will allow for photo streaming.

Kan iemand me helpen?

Then, just drag the files into the "Movies" tab (upper left corner) of your iTunes and synchronize them via the "Movies" tab under your iPad's horizontal tabs.
It will refuse working in only one case: if the so-called H.264 level is too large. Let me know if you encounter such problems.

  • Move photos from mac to ipad

I would like to copy pictures from my Macbook Pro to my Ipad.  I have the camera connection kit, which is great if you want to go directly from the camera to the ipad.  Unfortunately moving pictures from the mac book to the ipad appears to be very difficult.  Been seaching on the web for an hour.  Is there an easy way to do this?

  • When i try to transfer photos from mac to iPad the albums that move over do not contain the same photos as the albums on the computer. extra photos are added and some do not move over at all

when  i try to copy albums or events from my computer to ipad 2, the transferred albums or events lack some photos from the original events but also contain other photos from differennt albums or events. i have tried rebuilding the thumbnails and repairing the database but none has made any difference. further if i try to import the entire library then again only  a small subset gets over.

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for the iPod Photo Cache.
Trash it. Start iPhoto and try sync again.

How do I move photos from Mac to iPad?

Connect the iPad to your Computer and sync with iTunes.
Your iPad will appear in the "Devices" section in the iTunes Library Inspector.
Select it and click the "Photos" tab. Choose which events and albums you want to sync.
    Press "Sync"
If your MacOS X version does support iCloud, you can also add the pictures you want to copy to your iPad to the PhotoStream.

  • Why are my photos duplicating on my iPad

All three of my Apple products are duplicating my photos.  Mac Mini, iPad Retina, iPhone5.  Tried to use an app to remove duplicates  Afraid to try any product that isn't apple approved.  Tons of waisted space.  Please help.

Is it just Photos that appear darker on your iPad or is the entire screen dark?
If it's just the photos you can try just rebooting the iPad to see if there is any improvement.
Keep in mind the computer will optimize photos for use on your iPad, I suppose it could have done that incorrectly... If that's the case you can use iTunes to remove those photos sync'd to your iPad, just uncheck the "Sync Photos" in iTunes and apply that change. From there you'll want to try to sync them back on, but before doing that you'll want to remove the previously optimized photos in the iPod Photo Cache. You can find this Photo cache by.. following the steps in this article for iPhoto:

  • I made a photo book in iPhoto and would like to transfer the book to my iPhoto on other macs and iPad.   How is this done and can it be synced between devices like photo stream.

I made a photo book in iPhoto and would like to transfer the book to my iPhoto on other macs and iPad.   How is this done and can it be synced between devices like photo stream?

You can create a Quicktime movie slideshow of the book's pages and share that. Here's how to get your book into an iPhoto slideshow and then export as a Quicktime video:
1 - While viewing the book type Command+P to start the print process.
2  - click on the PDF button and select "Save PDF to iPhoto".
Note:  If you don't have any of those options go to Toad's Cellar and download these two files:
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Unzip the files and place in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder and reboot.
3 - select either of the files above (300 dip is used for photos to be included in a book that will be ordered).
4 - in the window that comes up enter an album name or select an existing album and hit the Continue button.
That will create a 200 or 300 dpi jpeg file of the item being printed and import it into iPhoto. Immediately select all of the photos in the new album and sequentially renumber them as "Page  " using the Batch Change ➙ Title to Text with the option to add a sequential number to each title.  This is to let you put the pages back in the correct order in the event they get sorted incorrectly.
Now you can proceed as follows: create the slideshow in iPhoto and export it out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large (480p with iPhoto 9),
    Happy New Year
