Synchronising caldav accounts

Hi,
I have several caldav accounts for different people and calenders to synchronise on my own NAS by Synology. All the firmware has been updated regularily on the NAS as well as on iPhone and my mac. However, I guess with the last iOS Update solving a problem with exchange servers, the synchronising of my caldav accounts doesn't work anymore. Before the update, there was no probem to synchronise appointments between iCal on my mac an iPhone via my caldav server on my nas. After having my iOS updated there is no synchronising between mac and iPhone possible, whereas synchronisation between iCal on mac and thunderbird on windows PCs works fine.
Years before I changed my computer hardware to Apple explicitly not to have such problems for which it is very time consuming to troubleshoot, getting updates and updates for the updates.... for which windows is renowned for.....
Just in case if anybody wonders, I do not use iCloud at all and I do not want to.
Need help.
Thanks

Nevermind, I just enabled iCloud calendar sync on my iPhone and my CalDAV accounts were not removed.

  • "access to keychain forbidden" while adding CalDav account

My problems started when a client's mobile account became disabled after the open directory locked them out.  I was able to "unlock" the account by deleting the a keychain (somehow, I am not so good documenting while under pressure).
Unfortunately, none of their passwords could be saved aftewards.  Most noticebly, I couldn't add a CalDav account to iCal and kept giving me an "incorrect login username or password".
What I eventually figured out after hours of frustration:  there should be 3 keychains: "login", "system" and "System roots" in the "Keychain Access" utility! My problem was I only had the "system" and "System roots" keychains showing up in the upper left pane.
    To add a missing keychain:
Go to "File"-->"New Keychain"-->call it what you'd like --> "Create"
Make sure you remember the password!!
Hope this helps anyone else who comes across this problem.

    Hi Jitendra,
You are required to call web.EnsureUser function to ensure if user exists in web and if not then add it into the web before adding it into the group.
    User csvUser = context.Web.EnsureUser(strLoginName);
    context.Load(csvUser);
    context.ExecuteQuery();
    selectedGroup.Users.AddUser(csvUser);
    selectedGroup.Update();
    context.ExecuteQuery();
Below is the link to project hosted on codeplex for adding users using CSV file using client object model. You can check the code also.

Hope this will help to solve your problem.

  • How do display multiple accounts under one CalDav account?

Hello - I have a google mail account, for which I use google calendar to organize both my and my wifes calendars. We share calendars, but she has a separate google account and calendar. Using iCal, both these calendars are subscribed using separate CalDav accounts. Using the calendar function on the iphone, I subscribe to both calendars separately as well, but the interface is different.
Here's my question: I created a new calendar under my account, which I would like to share with certain people (call it 'Group cycling sessions.'). On iCal, under > Properties > 'delegation,' I can access the calendar, and by the way, access my wifes as well. However, I cannot figure out how to subscribe to this calendar on the iphone (short of using mobile me, which I am loathe to do).
    Any ideas?

Google calendar colours are taken from the Google settings.
If you have another account such as the calendar on your iPhone or the Birthday Calendar, each time they are removed and re-activated, the colour will cycle to the next one Apple has chosen

  • How do I delete an old CalDAV account from iPhone that no longer exists?

A few months ago I tried to set up synching between my work calendar (via a CalDAV account) on my work Macbook, my iPhone and my home iMac. I never could get the account to set up in iCal on my iMac but it worked fine on my work Macbook and my iPhone. But we eventually went to using Google Apps, so now I don't need it.
The problem is that despite having removed the account entirely on my work Macbook's iCal, the calendar remains on my iPhone and keeps notifying me of reminders that had been set up there. When I go into my iPhone's settings, into Mail, Calendars, etc., the calendar is not there anymore (because I removed it when we got rid of using it at work) so I can't delete it.
I thought maybe somehow it was still hanging around on my home iMac, despite never having been able to set it up to work, but it's not there, either. The only place it exists is when I open iCal on my iPhone, although there's no way for me to delete it and when the notifications pop up I can't edit them, either.
Am I just out of luck here and stuck with this rogue calendar? When I plug my iPhone into my home iMac, where it's set up to sync, it tells me that my calendars are being synched over the air, not through iTunes. But when I go into system settings on that computer and force it to resync calendars, it doesn't get rid of the old CalDAV account on my phone.
    Any ideas?? I'm stumped.

If your device is signed into an old ID of yours that is an earlier version of the ID you want to sign in with, do the following:
If you are using iMessage and FaceTime, make sure you are signed into these services with your current ID.  If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.)  Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iDevice and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID).  Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless you are using iCloud Photo Library).  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out (or Delete Account if you are not running iOS 8) and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your device).

  • Is there a way to disable "Reminders" from being pushed from CalDav accounts, but keep calenders? Or is this just all from push notifications?

On all iOS devices we have CalDav accounts setup to sync calenders from our server.  However, you also get those accounts in the "Reminders" app.  Is there a way to remove on the reminders portion, but leave the calenders?
    Thanks!

    Hi Everyone,
To give an update on the situation: I disabled the Yahoo account and it seems to make a VERY NOTICEABLE difference in battery life - prior to this my battery would drain quite rapidly but since disabling it it's only lost about 15-20% over the past 24 hours (and thats with using the video/music/internet functions for about an hour and a half).. Prior to this it would have been close to drained under the same circumstances.
Also, to confirm, the "Your last transaction cost 0.00" messages only appear when accessing the internet manually now. before they appeared every 10-15 minutes with no interaction from myself at all (while it was sitting idle, while watching videos, while charging, while in my pocket, etc..)
I do have it set to only check Manually but Yahoo would seem to check on it's own even though this setting is checked (I'm guessing it has to do with the Push setting). Aside from draining the battery, it was quite annoying having 30 or so "Your transaction cost $0.00" messages to click through whenever I turned on the phone.
I did have the screen set to shut off after 1 min, but the 'your transaction cost..' messages would first wake the iphone up, the screen would stay bright for about 30 seconds, dim for about 30 seconds, then turn on bright again for 1 minute until it shut off. I'm guessing the screen (being on for about 10-15 minutes per hour due to this) and the fact that yahoo accesses the internet on such a frequent basis are what cut the battery life down.
I really wish I could make Yahoo work more like Gmail and have it manually search for new mail

  • Can't delete old CalDAV account

Whenever I start iCal I get the message:
*The server responded with an error*
The server did not recognize your user name or password for account “xyz.exampledomain.com.” Make sure you enter them correctly.
(I edited the actual server address, of course)
I understand this message, as I had been trying to set up my iCal to talk to a server I had been running, but since I originally did that, I have re-installed Snow Leopard Server on the machine it was syncing with and the server has a new address as well. I was able to set up iCal to run fine with the new server, but for some reason, I simply can't find a way to delete the old account and it's settings from iCal.
Whenever I go into iCal's preferences and highlight the old account and press the minus button, it gives me a warning message saying:
"Deleting the account "xyz.exampledomain.com" will remove all references to the calendars in the account. This operation can't be undone."
I, of course, choose delete. The calendar and the account seem to disappear fine (disappears from iCal preferences and from the calendar sidebar) until I quit and re-open iCal. When I reopen iCal this whole cycle starts all over again and I get the pop-up saying it couldn't communicate with the old CalDAV account...
Any ideas? I've tried the usual stuff (deleted the ~/Library... preferences for iCal, restarted the computer, cleared p-ram, reset SMU, start in safe-boot)...
    Details:
    iCal - Version 4.0 (1362)
    MacBook Pro 15" (late 2008)
    OS 10.6.1

Oh, and I forgot to respond to your question
@ "Are you syncing iCal, with MobileMe or another server? Even if not I suggest you re-set your SyncServices database."
I used to sync iCal with MobileMe, but stopped syncing with MobileMe before I ever created the CalDAV setting that is giving me this issue. Currently, I am syncing with a server I have set up that runs Snow Leopard Server's calendar server, but I have had this issue that does not allow me to delete the CalDAV account since before I started syncing with the server I am currently syncing with. Again, as mentioned in my post above, I tried resetting the sync services etc and have had no luck.
What Apple's support website has to say about removing the SyncServices folder has caused me to shy away from that option. But as a last resort, would reinstalling Snow Leopard fix this if I were to then restore my computer from a Time Machine backup? Or would Time Machine have probably backed up whatever file or setting is giving me this problem, and restoring it from that backup would only leave me having wasted time re-installing and restoring my computer?
Also, is there a practical way of deleting all files associated with iCal and then re-installing it? and would that help?

  • Keep getting a request for password "for the CalDAV account for my email account when I log in my iPhone password. ????

I keep getting a request "for the CalDAv account" when I log in using my iPhone password on my iPhone.  Just started happening.   ????

If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact AppleCare(or Apple ID Support), upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
The operator will take you through some steps you may have already tried, however they need to be sure they have exhausted all usual approaches before trying to reset your account, so you should try to be helpful and show patience with the procedure.
The operator will need to verify they are speaking to the account holder and may ask you some questions that only the account holder could know, and you will need to answer them if the process is to proceed.
Once the operator has verified your identity they will send a message through to your device which contains an alpha numeric code, which you will need to read back to them.
Once this has been completed they will send an email to your iCloud email address after a period of 24 hours, so you should check that mail is enabled in your devices iCloud settings.
Upon receipt of the email, use the reset link provided to reset your password, after which you should be able to make the adjustments to iCloud that you wish to do.

  • Alerts in iCal with a CalDAV Account

The alerts in my iCal when setting an appointment in my CalDAV account, don't appear.
If I set an event in my iCloud calendar the reminder will set in automatically as configured in preferences. But if I create an event in iCal under my CalDAV account then that event automatically erases the alert and I need to set the alert manually from every event, even though I have configured that every event has an alert.
My CalDAV account is a gmail account.

The second script is working but if I need to change the link it will not allow me to edit or delete it in iCal on my desktop. The only way to edit it is to use the online iCal in me.com.
And the worst problem is that the url does not show up on my iPhone iCal. The iPhone version of iCal has limited features. So if I'm away from the office on my iPhone I still have the problem of having no link to my iCal appointment. I still end up having to use both iCal and Contacts as separate Apps.
I still dont understand why Apple wouldnt make these 2 Apps work together! It seems so obvious! thanks anyway.

  • Can't create second caldav account

I have a work calendar that I have successfully synced with google and embedded on my website. Now I would like to sync a second calendar for family stuff. But every time I try to create a second caldav account in iCal, nothing happens! I need a second account because all my work stuff is handled using a separate domain. I go to the Accounts tab in iCal's prefs, click on the plus sign, the fill-in page comes down, I fill in all the correct info, get a spinning belly button for a few seconds, then it scrolls back up, but no new account gets added!
Has anyone successfully entered two caldav accounts into iCal? I know my information is correct, because I was able to create the family caldav account on her computer.
I hope someone has the answer. I'm stumped!
    TIA,
    Thad

    I solved my problem.
I quit iCal and relaunched it. I got my second caldav account... and like nine more, since I tried entering the info several times. Weird. Apple, if you're listening, please fix this small bug.
    Aloha.

  • Why does iCal keep replicating CALDAV accounts?

I have this crazy thing going on with my iCal. It keeps creating replications of my work calendar. I've tried a number of things, like deleting files from the Library and starting fresh, disabling copies of the account, etc. Now it replicates so fast that I can't keep up and I have 30+ copies of the account.
While I really enjoy using Lion, I have had no end in iCal, Outgoing Mac Mail / SMTP, App freezing issues. Considering a clean install next.
    Ideas folks?

This started happening to me today. OSX 10.7.2.
In iCal it spontaneously started creating 40, 50 duplicate CalDAV accounts at the same time, while the alert chime was going crazy.  Took ages to delete all the accounts.   And then it happened again later on.
This is the most ridiculous behaviour I've experienced on OSX. It's like something from Windows 95. At the same time it keeps prompting me for the CalDAV password, I put the right one each time but it still reappears. The two issues I think are related, but it renders iCal unusable, basically.

  • Caldav Account problems

I noticed a forum regarding Caldav account problems for the Iphone, however, is there one for the Ipad?  I have tried the suggestions of logging into my yahoo account, searching for my password under settings/mail/account, etc., and that has not worked.  I have also gone into my calendar and unchecked my name as to unsync my calendar/caldav.  I still cannot get into my Ipad, it has locked me out and asked for the Caldav account password.  Does anyone have a solution for the iPad Caldav issue?

  • ICal multiplies my CalDAV account

    Hi,
Since the upgrade to Lion I'm facing a weird behavior in iCal. My single CalDAV account is multiplied over and over again. Even if I delete them they show again.
It seems that removing the calendar from my account under System Preferences solves the issue, but obviously this shouldn't be the normal configuration (as far as I can tell).
The calendar is served by a Zimbra installation and I'm also using the Zimbra syncing application that doesn't seem to be part of the issue (I removed it and nothing changed).
    Any help is appreciated.

Your calendar can only synchronized though the .Mac Sync framework—or, alternatively, through the use of Sync Together—or, be published through .Mac or a private WebDAV server.
It is not accessible on—or viewable on—your .Mac account itself.
It is, in fact, published for all the world to see (or, at least those who know its URL) and is not password protected but, it is write-protected to everyone, including you. This means that it can only be edited by you on your machine, or using another synchronized machine with which that machine is synchronized through a .Mac account.

  • Why does the preferences-app crash when I try to add a CalDAV-account?

    Hey all,
I recently set up a calendarserver on my debian-machine. After that, I set up my account in iCal on my MacBook. Everything works, so my server does.
Now, if I try to add a CalDAV-account on my iPhone (preferences-app -> Mail, Contacts, Calendar -> Add account -> Other -> Add CalDAV-Account) the preferences-app crashes and nothing was added.
Any suggestions how to solve this issue?
My iPhone 3GS runs with iOS version 4.3.3 (8J2).

    Any suggestions on this issue?

  • New CalDAV-account but no connection/no sync to Calendar

Hi at all, I use David from Tobit for addresses and appointments. Therefore I created a new CalDAV account for syncing these data but the new calender is not available. I also miss to define the standard-calender in the settings for mail, contacts, calendar. The server for Tobit is reachable (no problems with addresses via CarDAV by a similar way - and the standardaccount for contacts is also shown in the settings)
I use miCal and all applications and software are up-to-date. Any ideas for a solution?

    Hi!
Problem is still unsolved unfortunately! Any ideas how I could get back the menu bar "standard calendar" in the settings?

  • Unable to create a caldav account on iPhone 3G

Hello and thank you for looking at my problem and for any advice you may have.
I have a client that is trying to connect to his office Calendar server with his iPhone 3G running iOS 4.3.3 (not jb). The server is an XServe running 10.5.8 Server. The phone is connecting to it via the office LAN.
I was able to set up this phone for the user's personal calendar on the office server with no problem, it works fine. There is an office wide calendar that he also wants to be able to use on the phone. When I try to create the account, I enter the server address, account information, etc and click Next, it tells me that SSL is not available (correct) do I want to continue, I tell it to continue and then BOOM the Settings app closes and I am back on the Desktop. Entering Settings again I find that the account has not been created.
Now here is where it gets weird. If I go to the personal calendar account and change it's settings to use the office wide calendar settings, I am able to save this and work with the calendar without issue. If I then try to create another calendar account using his personal settings, account creation fails in the same manner as described above.
Is there a limit to the number of caldav accounts in this version of iOS? I have set up other phones (iPhone 4 running 6.0.1 and iPhone 5s running 6.0) and they all have worked fine.
Any help would be much appreciated.

If you are trying to sync via iCloud, you can share Mail, Calendars, and Contacts running Snow Leopard. Based on my experience, I don't recommend syncing Contacts - created a lot of problems with duplicates.
Snow Leopard iCloud - Address and iCal
    Snow Leopard iCloud –  iCal
Snow Leopard iCloud - Configuring Mail with Mac OS X v10.6 or iOS 4
