Synchronising music and Music Manager

It is unfortunate the Music Manager is quite so basic. For example, when copying music to your phone and the message comes up saying the song is already on the phone, there is an option to always override but not an option to always skip (not the exact words on the message but I'm sure everyone will understand).
It is a pity that Music Manager does not have an option to either synchronise with the phone or at least indicate which songs have already been downloaded on the collection list.
Having said that I found the Music Manager easy to use and works quite well even if it is a bit slower than I would have expected (using a cable connection on a fast high spec PC). The compression is also excellent as I have downloaded hundreds of songs, and the quality is superb.
Any suggestions?

Update to PC Suite 6.83, it has the skip alternative.

  • Synchronising only music and manually managing the rest

I have recently decided to sync my iPod music to my home computer, given my growing collection and small changes I often make. I have been downloading Podcasts at work and have had them synchronised for a while and have had no problems. I have uploaded all the latest software for iTunes and the iPod.
Now that I have synchronised my home music collection, iTunes will:
    (a) NOT let me play any files on my iPod (videos, music, podcasts) through ANY computer (all the files are greyed out and cannot be selected)
    (b) NOT let me manually manage my videos
    (c) Wipe all the podcasts from work once I plug it into my home computer
Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks, Reverend.

Re: Synchronising only music and manually managing the rest
    You can't.
    (a) NOT let me play any files on my iPod (videos, music, podcasts) through ANY computer (all the files are greyed out and cannot be selected)
    (b) NOT let me manually manage my videos
    (c) Wipe all the podcasts from work once I plug it into my home computer
All of the above is because you have the iPod set to automatically sync with a computer (your home one apparently).
If you want to use more than one computer to load music and other stuff to your iPod, it needs to be set to manual.

I want to use my IPOD Classic 160gb for notepad entries in addition to the music and books I listen to. It is set to "Open ITunes when connected to computer" and "manually manage music and videos".  How can I do that without losing some of the features of those two?   I just want to add a feature.  Thanks

Settings>Store (or iTunes & App Stores if you are running iOS6)>Apple ID. Tap your son's ID and sign out. Sign in with your ID and password.
You shouldn't lose the music, but if you try to update any apps that you bought with the family ID, you will have to use that password that is linked with that ID in order to update.
Avoid downloading past purchased content with the old ID if you can since you will associate the iPad with the old ID for 90 days and you will lock yourself out of your own, new ID for that period of time. Read more about associated devices in iTunes here.

  • Drag and drop album art in Nokia Music Manager

Hi there, I am just making my first steps with the Nokia Music Manager (NMM). After converting my music files to the m4a format I want to add the album art. There is a little field on the bottom of the screen of the NMM called "Drop graphic here" (don't no exactly the wording - I have the german version). I have tried different ways but nothing happens. What do I do wrong?
    Kind regards

    Hi.
Had the same problem and couldn't find anything anywhere, just stupid workarounds using wmp & itunes and **bleep**.
    Solution is very simple
You can only drag'n'drop album art onto songs which are in 'My Collection'.
So... Copy your mp3's to the 'My Collection' view and it should work.
This also enables the 'Edit' function in Nokia Music Manager which lets you edit tags aswell as album art.
    Hope this helps...

  • Keynote - stabilising synchronised music and slides in slideshow

I have made a self-playing Keynote slideshow with a (GarageBand) music track on loop.  Although I have timed it, tried it for synchronising image and music, saved it exactly as I want it, it seems impossible to keep this synchronisation on playback.  Images may appear early or late in relation to the music, which spoils the effects I'm looking for.  Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can remedy this?  I have tried recording, with voiceover on mute, and saving as a QuickTime movie, but this may still not preserve synchronisation;  besides, the movie is jerky on dissolve and animations.  Looking forward to a resolution.  Thanks.

Gary, many thanks for your prompt reply and the advice, which I shall certainly try.  You might have thought, though, that music (timed) and slideshow (timed) starting at precisely the same time and running simultaneously would have kept up with each other.  There is no guarantee, it seems to me, that pprecisely the same timings for slides and soundtrack will prevent drift in the middle, but I do feel that your advice is definitely good.
My camera club colleagues are hugely impressed with my Keynote presentations and several have been switching from PC to Mac.  (They obviously don't know what they can do with PowerPoint).  Come on Apple, what about integrating iPhoto and Keynote?  Or introducing synchronisation?  It so happens that I have been using Apple computers since before there were Macs, and have always used Macs, and am unlikely to change now, but it would be nice to have a complete package instead of something being kept back for an upgrade to generate further Apple income.  I know it's a business, and that everybody's at it, but here's an opportunity for a USP. Apple has already had quite enough of my money!
Again, thanks.  I am assuming that this is the answer to my query.

  • Problem with n95 pc suite music manager

when i load up pc suite and click on music manager to transfer music files from my pc to my phone it shows up for about 10 secs and automatically closes by itself, every other one is fine except install applications which does the same thing but i can update my contacts, view images, messages and the lot apart from music manager and applications, so basically i cant transfer any music on to my phone now plus i even tried uninstalling the old version and installing the updated version of pc suite but its still same thing.

if you use file transfer...it should be on your memory card where the files should be save...and if you are using n95 8GB...you can then try to move the files from memory to your phone's internal memory...but i think..music player is smart enough to display all the music files transferred to your mobile...not unless file is not supported...that's the case with my n73ME..all music file i transferred can all be seen in the music player..i suggest you just refresh library...or move the files to folder where other music files visible in the music library...good luck

  • Get CD Info from Music Manager no longer available

After upgrading PC Suite to 6.82.22 the option to "Get CD information" from Gracenote has been removed, or at least in my case it is no longer available. However, when looking at the help files, it still appears to give directions on how to use this service.
I have tried many well known artist´s CD but the option to get information does not appear, therefore all song titles have to be entered manually. N.B the CDs are originals, not pirated!
Can anyone confirm if the removal of this function is supposed to be the case. Thanks

The help files seem to suggest the Gracenote service is only available if the phone is connected. Some kind of licensing restriction perhaps.
I'd try connecting the phone and re-inserting the CD, should then get the Gracenote Terms and Conditions box. Also make sure Music Manager is allowed net access by your firewall.

  • Problem with Nokia Music Manager 2.0 converting mp...

    Hi everyone!
I have a problem using the Nokia Music Manager 2.0. I want to convert some mp3-files into "Mobile Optimized Format". If a start conversion it fails and says Track cannot be converted because it is already in the target format or file format is not supported. However, the files worked on my previous computer with WinXP. Now I'm using Vista Business. The conversion will always proceed to 50% and break then. I have the feelng it's a problem with the rights to write the new file. Running it with administrative rights or in compatibility mode did not either.
    Can anyone provide help?
    Thanks!

i'm having the same problem... ever since nokia upgraded pc suite a few months ago, and i had to get a new version due to a problem with my computer, i can't put music onto my phone using the music manager 2.0. so i've been just copying them in their mp3 formats but of course it's alot more space that could be saved if i could have them in the AAC+ pr M4A formats.
i checked out download.com (they offer alot of free to try and free in general programs) and i searched for mp3 to m4a
i found this program " Abcc Free Music to MP3 AMR AAC OGG Converter 3 "
I downloaded it, which only took maybe 5 minutes, and then installed it (another maybe 2-3 minutes)
I'm trying the program now and.... IT WORKS.
i just converted about 6 pm3's to m4a's and it took about 3-4 minutes. try it !

  • PC Suite 6.86.9.3 - Music Manager shuts down.

I just bought the nokia n73 ME, and I downloaded the PC suite 6.86.9.3 from the net. However when I try to use the Music Manager to transfer music, after I select the songs and choose copy to the phone, my music manager shuts down.
Please advise if there is a bug in the PC Suite. I have re-installed the PC Suite back on my phone, and tried everything...PLease advise.

    Hi,
I am using an USB connection. And just to give you some more details, I am using windows xp with 256 MB Ram.
What I tried was copying the files from my pc and pasting it in the music folder using the file explorer...!! and it worked fine...!! but now, if I need to set a message tone as one of those songs {from profiles-general-message tone} none of those songs appear in the default list...which I think it should...
Is it because I transfered the music the other way and not using the Music manager? and is there a fix or any other way that u can think of being able to see those transfered song in the default list to be able to choose them as a message tone?

  • Nokia Music Manager - help please

Hi, sorry if this may have been covered previously, I have looked but couldn't find anything relevant.
My problem is that I save all my music on my pc in one folder and I have about 600 tracks.
I installed Nokia Music Manager recently and now when I open my music folder I can see that approx 50 of my previously mp3 tracks are now of file type "Nokia Music Manager" and not mp3. I have tried converting them to back to mp3 using Itunes which works but in my music folder they still show as NMM.
I don't have a problem with them showing NMM in itunes as I can update my ipod fine, it's just when I want to burn an mp3 disc using Nero that it doesn't work - Nero can't find these NMM files in my music folder and it's doing my head in.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Matt

Please explain your problem more detailed.

Why don't you want to follow up with your previous thread?
It'll be confusing when you started multiple threads linking to the issue.
Sorry, I haven't posted here much so I'm not familiar with the protocols. I just thought it would be less confusing to make this a separate issue. I linked them to avoid duplicating info on my config & h/w

Your best solution is to use some other tool to rip the music, then use File Transfer (USB mass storage) to drag and drop. It's much faster than using PC Suite.
i-Tunes allows you also to rip into AAC (m4a) and that works with N91.
I've tested WMP 9 and WMP10 (now beta testing WMP11) and they all work differently but work with N91 (both WMA and MP3 formats)
WInamp also rips into formats that are supported in N91.
If you don't want to pay for the encoder, use Audiograbber. It's great for Mp3
Is there a reason why you want to use Nokia Music Manager?

I am having the same problem with my 6233. Apparently it is not compatible with Nokia music store, but the Nokia music application in PC suite that I have just downloaded will not recognise it either. All other applications in this version of PC suite will work ok with it. How do I revert to the old style music manager in order to dreate playlists etc. Also, the new music application has installed as the default music player on my PC, how do I stop this and change it? Nokia seem to have made things difficult for users of older model phones.
    Can anyone help us please.

I'm trying to convert mp3 files to M4A files with music manager 1.0 When I select the files I want to convert and click 'File>Convert to mobile optimised format' the status goes to 'Pending' and does not get any further.
I am using PC suite 6.8 on Windows XP sp2 with a N91 on USB.

I have the new upgrade of PCSUITE and I got the same problem to convert MP3 to M4U or ACC to my NOKIA 3250
In tha last version of PCSUITE I had no problem in converting MP3 to ACC with the NOKIA 6682...
With this upgrade I can only got 1 file converted... further more the program says: pending and it doesn't advance from there...
even if I let the program running for an hour... I just had to close and cancel all operations of the music manager...
or it send me a message error and close by itself...
the message only says... there was an error with music manager and it should be closed.. or something like that...
