I has been necessary for me to perform a factory re-set on my pc which meant loading iTunes again. I now want to synchronise my iPod with iTunes but not to have to delete the music already stored on my iPod. how do I do this?

In ITunes,
my library was about 55 G. I have a Ipod Classic 160 G. I synchronised my IPod
on ITunes and I checked the tag Convert
songs with a throughput greater than 128 kbit / s ACC before
synchronisation I took maybe 6 hours to synchronise, and afterward my library was
about 42 G. All my tunes, more than 9500, seem still be in library. Most of my
library is from music purchased in ITunes store along with copies on my old CDs
an some MP3 files from other discs. This is good for me but what happened? This is good for me but what happened?
I don't understand the question... Did something happen that you think should not have happened?
It took such a long time to sync, because iTunes was converting songs with bit-rate higher than 128 kbps "on the fly" while syncing. That takes much longer than just syncing the songs.
Also, since you have so much space on your iPod (compared to the size of your music library), you should not use that "convert to 128 kbps AAC" setting. For songs that are encoded higher than 128 kbps, the conversion reduces sound quality. You may want to uncheck Sync Music and Apply, to remove the songs on the iPod currently, and then sync it all again without the "convert" setting checked this time. -
Does anybody know why my ipod touch 3rd generations screen does not show anything? The screen is all black constantly. When I try to synchronise my ipod with my iTunes library it comes up with a message saying " iTunes could not back up the ipod because a session could not be started with the ipod. Please help and reply if you know an answer!!!

I have not connected my IPOD to my PC for some time and I am now running iTunes v.7.1. When I now connect my IPOD the PC will not allow it to synch and displays the following - "iTunes cannot synchronise to IPOD because Microsoft Outlook 2003 or later id required". Why is this so when previousley it synchronised perfectly?
Many thanks for your thoughts on this, but when I click on the Contact tab I get a Outlook error message, which when closed also closes down iTunes! I have Contacts 7 Calander turned 'on' on the iPOD and this problem hasn't occurred before. D'you think it's associated with the latest iTunes version?

Can not synchronise my ipod with itunes. the required medium can not be found
Can not synchronise my ipod with itunes. I receive the message the required medium can not be found
Is it along the lines of the "required disk cannot be found?" What OS are you using and are you running the latest version of iTunes? I assume you have tried multiple USB ports as well as tried using a different USB sync cable to rule out a damaged/faulty cable?
Do you have any other USB devices plugged in while you try to sync your iPod?

Why when I sync my iPod with my laptop, the application I downloaded on the iPod are saved when they are not on my desktop?
- I do not fully understand your question/problem.
- You can only sync with one iTunes library/computer but you can manually manage music and videos among different libraries/computer. You can only sync apps from the library to the iPod on your one syncing computer.
- You can copy iTunes purchases like app from the iPod to any computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
In iTunes 11 use Control+B to show the Menu bar then go to iTunes>File>Devices>Transfer Purchases -

As my topic suggests, I recently stole my Ipod Touch at school. I had locked with a code. I wish I just know if the thief was able to sync my Ipod with Itunes and especially his account whether he had access to my photos, videos, or music. Thank you in advance for your reply.
It is possible for someone to get into your locked iPod but it is not very easy as all.
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod and wifi is on and connect go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and hae to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- Apple will do nothing

Why is it that after I synchronise my iPod with iTunes the track on my iPod starts part way through the song? Only happens with the occasional song and is not widespread. The iTunes song on my laptop is fine - when I play it from iTunes it starts from the start.
Any help would be very welcomeYou're in the exact same situation as me, and I can't seem to find help with this problem.

HT1353 cannot synchronise my Ipod classic (5th generation) anymore
I have synchronised my Ipad and Iphone and then wanted to synchronise my Ipod but only get, do not disconnect. Can also not find it in the list anymore only Iphone and Ipad. What to do now?
Remove the iPod and reset it by pressing and holding both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear. Reboot your PC and then open iTunes. Then reconnect the iPod. Any luck there?
If not, try a different USB port, preferably a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of the PC and not via a hub, etc. It might not hurt to try a different USB sync cable as well to rule out a bad/damaged cable.

I just got a macbook pro and I already own an iPod touch 32GB. I used to have a sony viao and I had my iPod synhronized to that computer. How do I change the synchronisation of my iPod to the macbook pro from the sony viao?

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs. -
hello
just a little question...
I've got an iPod 5th Generation, with color display and so on. I really like to have a comfortable and easy synchronisation with my PC, however, the problem's I can't activate the "automatically snychronisation", because if you do that iTunes will suddenly delete all your songs you have on the iPod and not on PC... Why there isn't sort of a function with I can only put the songs on iPod who aren't still on the iPod?! Nothing others, just put them autmatically on iPod...
I lost the half of my complete library last time I tried a few things out with this ******' "synchronisation-function"! As it works now, I can't need it at all
I just like to use my 30GB iPod as a second Harddisk, especially for saving music of course...
Is there something I haven't seen? Otherwise I really have to invest so much time in this **** synchronisation?!?
How do you do that?

Bonjour a tous !
Is it possible to not lose its data during a restore?? If so, how?? Is ICloud does the work??
Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."

How do I synchronise from iPod to iTunes
Hello,
I've recently changed mac because the hard disk crashed on the previous one. I have a lot of podcasts on my iPod, and I would like to keep them, but if I try to sync it with the new mac, it tells me that all data on my iPod will be erased. Is there a way to synchronise from the iPod to iTunes and not the reverse?
Thanks for the help!
Eve-LineConnect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer podcasts, movies, videos, photos and games as well. This is just a small selection of what's available, you can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
Comparison of iPod managers
Senuti Mac Only (Currently only the beta version is iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
PodView Mac Only
PodWorks Mac Only
iPodDisk PPC Mac Only (experimental version available for Intel Macs)
TuneAid Mac only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPodRip Mac & Windows
YamiPod Mac & Windows
Music Rescue Mac & Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Floola Mac & Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay. -
Merci
When I plug in my iPod it makes it loads as usual but does not sync to my computer. This is the message that I see: This iPod can not be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not running.
Except I do not know this service and we never told me to run before.
It is not updater since the summer of last year (2010)
Thanks
