Synchronising the IPOD

I have not connected my IPOD to my PC for some time and I am now running iTunes v.7.1. When I now connect my IPOD the PC will not allow it to synch and displays the following - "iTunes cannot synchronise to IPOD because Microsoft Outlook 2003 or later id required". Why is this so when previousley it synchronised perfectly?

Many thanks for your thoughts on this, but when I click on the Contact tab I get a Outlook error message, which when closed also closes down iTunes! I have Contacts 7 Calander turned 'on' on the iPOD and this problem hasn't occurred before. D'you think it's associated with the latest iTunes version?

  • After synchronising, the iPod song starts part way through the song. Same song starts fine on iTunes. Wassup?

Why is it that after I synchronise my iPod with iTunes the track on my iPod starts part way through the song? Only happens with the occasional song and is not widespread. The iTunes song on my laptop is fine - when I play it from iTunes it starts from the start.
Any help would be very welcome

You're in the exact same situation as me, and I can't seem to find help with this problem.

I 'm trying to transfer the player list of the Windows média library in the iPod touch. But the média player center doesn't even recognized the iPod??? Does that mean that I will only be able to synchronised the iPod with iTunes?  If that's the case is it possible to transfer the Windows  Music library into iTune and make iTunes the principal média center ?

  • Hi-Fi docking station...can you record onto the iPod...?

    Hello iPod users.
I want a new Hi-Fi with an iPod docking station (these are readily available)anyhow, I know full well that you can play and control the iPod when it is on the docking station of a hi-fi, however, can you record or synchronise the iPod when it is on the hi-fi docking station?
In short, can you only put music onto an iPod by using a computer?
If not, can anyone suggest to Apple to make this possible?

    Hi!
The only way you can get music on your iPod is to use a computer. There are some iPods that will support recording voice memos with an external microphone, but I don't think you can record directly from your Hi-Fi. Awhile ago, I looked into getting a device to digitize my long out of print recordings, but I gave up as more of those albums became available for digital download through iTunes or other (legal) sources. It proved to be less expensive, and less hassle than trying to re-record. Hope this helps!

This is good for me but what happened?
I don't understand the question...  Did something happen that you think should not have happened?
It took such a long time to sync, because iTunes was converting songs with bit-rate higher than 128 kbps "on the fly" while syncing.  That takes much longer than just syncing the songs.
Also, since you have so much space on your iPod (compared to the size of your music library), you should not use that "convert to 128 kbps AAC" setting.  For songs that are encoded higher than 128 kbps, the conversion reduces sound quality.  You may want to uncheck Sync Music and Apply, to remove the songs on the iPod currently, and then sync it all again without the "convert" setting checked this time.

Yes. Other things have synced including books, but I don't know how these happened. According to the 'audible' instructions it should happen automatically, but it doesn't.

You'll likely need the assistance of some sort of 3rd party software.  Keep in mind that the photos on your iPod are only scaled down thumbnail versions of the originals.  So even if you do manage to copy them backt to your PC, they will not be in their full original resolution.
Do a simple Google search for "copy photos from ipod" and you should get a number of hits that can assist you.

  • Can not synchronise my ipod with itunes. the required medium can not be found

Can not synchronise my ipod with itunes. I receive the message the required medium can not be found

Is it along the lines of the "required disk cannot be found?"  What OS are you using and are you running the latest version of iTunes?  I assume you have tried multiple USB ports as well as tried using a different USB sync cable to rule out a damaged/faulty cable?
Do you have any other USB devices plugged in while you try to sync your iPod?

I have a brand new Ipod classic (Christmas 2012-13), a newish laptop (2012) and have just downloaded the latest version of iTunes.  However, despite iTunes working fine on the laptop, the ipod being recognised by the laptop/iTunes, telling me it is synchronising, it actually won't synch.  I have reset the ipod, tried different USB ports, restarted the laptop, and uninstalled / reinstalled iTunes, but still not working.  Can anybody help ?

Well, I don't know if that's a software or hardware problem.  You should take it to Apple Genius Bar or send it to service center.  And one more thing, Its not synch......  Its Sync...  Just saying...  It would help if you send pictures of the problem.  Such as the screen of iTunes saying it's syncing.  It will help everyone and me...

  • I have just opened a new account for my Ipod Nano. My husband and daughter both have accounts on the same computer. I have registered and have downloaded a song, however it the Ipod has synchronised and also downloaded all my daughters tunes fron her Ipod

I have just opened a new account with my new I pod Nano. I have registered,my husband and daughter have an Itunes account on the same computer. I have bought one song but the Ipod has synvhronised also downloading my daughters tunes from her Ipod.
How do I delete all these songs and prevent this from happening again.?

Installing iTunes does not cause content to magically appear on the computer.
Your media is only where you put it.
iOS devices are not backup devices.
Copy the media from the old computer to the new computer.

  • How to have more than one playlist on the iPOD mini ...?

This may seem a silly question - after all, isn't it the whole point of the iPOD ? Anyway, with my current setup, I cannot get more than one playlist onto my ipod mini.
Using Win2000Pro, connecting using USB; there have been lots of other issues involving ' cannot read/write to ipod ' which have been reported on these forums , I started having problems after Apple 'upgraded' iTunes from 4.9 ...ended up with nothing on the ipod at all. Since then a few upgrades and now running iTunes 6.0 (not 6.0.1), it DOES sync with the ipod but does not let me manage the playlists:
Since my library is > the ipod ( 4 GB model) I cannot use the option ' sync all songs & playlists' , which is what I originally used when the library was < the ipod. At that point I did get ( automatically I think..) a few playlists onto the ipod.
Howeever, since the library got too big, I have to select 'sync to these playlists only' . I use 1 master list, which works, ( it syncs all the songs to the ipod and I get just that playlist on the 'pod) but any attempt to select another playlist from that dialogue box results in consistent hanging of iTunes, and you have to kikll it in task manager.
I would have thought that you could simply drag n drop a playlist onto the connected ipod icon (that would be more elegant) but the inteface doesn't allow it..
Oh and another thing ..why does the syncing tool delete ones on the go playlists from the pod ? I can't even get around this issue by making them manually on the 'pod as they get deleted when syncing.. Grrrrhhh
Where to go from here guys & gals ??
    Thanks...any tips gratefully received
Aries/ AMD Windows 2000 Draytek Wireless DSL 2 Mb

Ok I'll try that, although I did try it earlier when I had iTunes 5.xx loaded, I think.
As to size of playlists, I have a master (900 songs) that defines what will fit onto the ipod , I then generate all the others as subsets of the master (not of the library)- hence I know they will all fit
Can you also clarify something for me: the dialogue box we are discussing is intended, I think, so that one can set the automatic synching of certain playlists between the PC & the ipod. Is that the only way one can select other playlists to go to the ipod - i.e. as static once-offs, not synchronised ?
Apple' docs, I think, are poor in this regard - they assume most ipods are bigger then the users song library and they gloss over the details of this alternate mode of playlist synching.
    Thanks - Nick

What exactly happens when you try to sync?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

  • Synchronisation with iPod

    hello
    just a little question...
I've got an iPod 5th Generation, with color display and so on. I really like to have a comfortable and easy synchronisation with my PC, however, the problem's I can't activate the "automatically snychronisation", because if you do that iTunes will suddenly delete all your songs you have on the iPod and not on PC... Why there isn't sort of a function with I can only put the songs on iPod who aren't still on the iPod?! Nothing others, just put them autmatically on iPod...
I lost the half of my complete library last time I tried a few things out with this ******' "synchronisation-function"! As it works now, I can't need it at all
I just like to use my 30GB iPod as a second Harddisk, especially for saving music of course...
Is there something I haven't seen? Otherwise I really have to invest so much time in this **** synchronisation?!?
    How do you do that?

Well, unfortunately, that's the way auto sync works. Nothing you can do about it.

So you connect the iPod to an USB port, and then your computer immediately restarts with no further action from you? That's very odd...
Try removing all USB peripherals (including any hubs) except for your keyboard and mouse, and then connect the iPod directly to one of the USB ports on the computer. If that makes it work, connect your devices one at a time.
thanks that works i finally can use my ipod
