Synchronization; chromium (google-chrome) search configuration

does anyone know the configuration file for keyword searches (gui configuration is a context menu in the address bar) in chromium? i am trying this browser as an alternative to firefox which [despite its horrible resource usage] has robust syncronization via the delicious.net plugin. since bookmark sync does not update the search configuration in chromium i would like to replace the appropriate file on the remote machine by hand.

I am still having this issue on my Arch Linux install in additional to my Crunchbang install and my Ubuntu install. For some reason dwm and this chrome dropdown menu do not play well together. What's odd is that this did not used to happen in the Arch install but after an install it began to have the same problem. Is there some sort of library/setting/plugin that the bookmarks dropdown menu uses in chrome that dwm might not work well with? Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks!

Google Chrome Search-bar Lag?

I have the new 2015 XPS 13 - just got it 2 days ago, but I noticed while I was using google chrome that when I was typing things into the search bar there was a slight lag and for a split second it'll show very zoomed in, low resolution search results before it jumps back to what it's supposed to look like. I attempted to take a screenshot.. this is a minor one that happened. The search result font gets larger then shrinks back - sometimes it'll be 3X larger than this:

Could you please confirm if you are running the most up to date version of Chrome?
Are you noticing similar slow issues when you search using Google in other web browsers such as Firefox or Internet Explorer?
Could you try running Chrome in incognito mode and let me know if you're still seeing this problem?
Could you please confirm that you don't have any extensions installed?
I suggest you clear your cache and other browser data.

Installing google-chrome from AUR broke sound in chromium

Hi,
I installed google-chrome to watch netflix yesterday and since then, chromium sound is broken. This isn't just with flashplugin, I can't even play mp3 files from my hdd using chromium. I have since uninstalled google-chrome but that's made no difference. Any hints of where I should start with troubleshooting? I couldn't find anything on the forums or Google.

I'd try one then the other then together with first installation. Flash was broken last year I was reading somewhere. Try searching the forum.

[SOLVED] Google Chrome vs Chromium

A few months ago while visiting Youtube, I noticed it was asking me to install google chrome. So I realized the Linux version is finally out. So I googled for it and installed it on my Ubuntu laptop under the name of google-chrome. Then I tried to install it on my 64 bit Arch Linux machine. I googled for it, but didn't find anything. I tried to search for it on pacman, but I only found Chromium. I installed it, and it looked exactly the same as my google-chrome on ubuntu.
Today, I got confused whether or not chromium is the same as google-chrome. I read somewhere that chromium is the ported version of windows google-chrome for Linux while there's a separate version of google-chrome for linux, named google-chrome. I don't find any differences between my google-chrom on ubuntu and chromium on Arch, but I'm really confused.
Would be glad if someone tells me what is what.

Yep that link explains it all straight from the horses mouth so to speak.
Basically chromium is the open source projected created by Google and google-chrome is a slightly modified version, google branded version of the browser that comes in binary form.

Kwin and Chromium(or google-chrome) problem

I'm using Arch Linux about 2 years now,and this is the first time i have a problem that i cannot solve or find the solution googling it...
the problem is that for some days now on my pc if chromium is maximazed if i drag the tab bar with my mouse, nothing happped and chromium stays maximazed.the same problem happens when chrumium is not maximazed and it drag it on top of the screen.it sould be maximazed,but it stays as it is.I also realized that kwin effects is not working with chromium(wobby windows for example).
The only way to make it work properly again is to restote system title bar and borders.Then if i drag the title bar on top or the edge of the screen chromium resized correctly.The problem is that I need this extra space if system's title bar.
The same problem happens this google-chrome(I installed it from the AUR).
The have this problem only on my desktop(64bit),on my laptop(32bit installation,same configuration) everything works great.

Another strange thig that i notice is:
i can't open proxy settings and archlinux forum don't open in chromium... but it open in firefox...

[SOLVED] Google chrome/chromium freezing when typing in address bar

Hello again everyone, sorry to bother you.
Im using Arch 64 bit + kde.
Recently my chromium began freezing at random when I begin typing in the address bar. Since it persisted after several updates I installed google chrome beta from AUR, and the problem persists there. I've tried deleting the configuration directory to no avail.
I am a web developer and therefore this is kind of extremely annoying, I need more browsers than just Firefox so I thought about asking your help, are there any of you with a 64 bit arch system in which chrome works flawlessly? Did you do anything special?

yes, my card is nvidia 8600GT.
This morning I spent a few experiments.
1. I noticed that if you run full-screen application (game), then when you try to switch to the console - is a black screen without text, a problem arises as in KDE and in xfce, if you switch to the console without running full screen applications, the when switching to the console you can see the shell prompt to login (enter your login and password), both in KDE and in xfce.
I tried to remove the option "VGA = 773" from the boot parameter has the kernel (GRUB), and the problem with switching to the console was gone.
2. I made a nvidia-xconfig, creating a file /etc/x11/xorg.conf, rebooted (with the VGA = 773), and logged in to KDE user denis (yes my name is Denis too ), the name of my new account, the name of the old - user0), and the Problem with switching to the console was gone, at least for now.
I think that the Problem with chromium somehow connected with the fact that the video card is Nvidia and its mode of operation, which hurt when you log in to your account.
How does chromium in KDE in your account until Dennis, I have not tested that particular - will be tested, the result accomplish your goal.
So try to remowe vga=773 from kernel line, and and see how it will work chromium.
But i still dont know, why chromium work fine in xfce, but freezing in KDE...

I have downloaded Firefox android a number of times and every time I open Firefox and try to use the search line Google Chrome takes over the search, so save to

PDF in Firefox remains grayed out, because l cannot do a Firefox search. l cannot change the default search in apps because there all grayed out. l cannot change it in settings - search for Google Chrome and Firefox, because there is no Firefox appearing, even after in Firefox tip saying long press search line to add it. Cannot get box to come up either, to be able to change default search to Firefox by clicking always or once. My tablet is a Lenovo Yoga 8 Android jelly bean 4.2.2 OS. Please can someone help, l have been trying to figure this out for more than a week. l especially wanted to use the save to PDF function in Firefox. Please, please HELP!

There is no Firefox search, there are a number of search engines you can choose in the Settings men u > Customize> Search Engines
The search engine will be searched in the toolbar, as you type there will be an option to chose to search in many engines. If you turned on google search suggestions this will happen as well.
When you say the option is greyed out, can you please take a screenshot on the tablet and upload it in a response, it is a little unclear what you are trying to do. [[How to make screenshots]]
When you say you want to save to a pdf, are you talking about this add on for the android?

Sounds like a third party installation has hijacked your search bar. If you find suspicious looking extensions in your add-ons page, can you try the following steps?
# Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and choose Add-ons.
# In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions panel.
# Select the toolbar you wish to remove.
# Click the Remove button.
# Click "Restart now" if it pops up. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.
After Firefox restarts, install the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/ Search Reset Tool]. This will remove the rest of the traces of this program from your Firefox.
For further information, please read [[Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page]].
If the above doesn't work, try running some anti-malware scans:

Firefox, google chrome, IE8 lose the ability to search and find text on certain archived books. IE7 can search and find. Is there a way to fix this?

Firefox, google chrome, and IE8 all have the same error. The search and find functions for certain on-line archive books does not work on these browsers. They claim that text does not exist. In IE7 the text is found. I can be typing in a word I see on the page and all three still bottom out with this error. Again the search and find function works with IE7 but not these new browsers. And I would love to upgrade from IE7 but cannot.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

No sound with flash through chromium or google-chrome-stable

I set up ALSA with snd_usb_audio, and it works with Firefox and other applications like vlc. However, I can't get any sound from chromium or google-chrome-stable. I installed the pepper flash plugin, enabled it in chrome://plugins, and disabled the regular flash plugin, but this didn't work. Also, I'm using a 64-bit HP laptop.

I have found a solutiton to the problem I was having. I hope that many more can benefit from the information I will provide.
I started at Finder, then went to GO selected COMPUTER and then Machintosh HD, then Library, Scripting Additions folder and trashed all that was there. This is what worked for me, if you choose to not delete your content its up to you. Happy Computing.
