Synchronization of ID3v2.3 Tags in iTunes 7.6and/or Windows Media Player 11

Althought maintained e.g. rating information for single mp3-files on my HDD, I can see this rating and maintain it in WMP11 but this rating is not shown in iTunes 7.6
How do I see rating info in iTunes and how can I update iTunes if e.g. rating info has been updated in Media Player or in the mp3-file itself?

I only use ID3v2.3 tags for my MP3 files and I can verify that track numbers and disc numbers work properly. My hunch is that these files do not only have ID3v2 tags in them. I recommend downloading Mp3tag to check the format of your tags. I recommend using ID3v2 UTF-16.

  • Mp3 does not play in iTunes but plays in Windows Media Player

    Dear group,
iTunes will not play a particular group of mp3s I have but the same mp3s play fine in Windows Media Player.
    Winamp cannot play them either.
I've searched the net a bit and found many mentions of it but no solutions which work for me.
Also, these same mp3s are on my iPod and they play fine.
Any clues what is causing this bizzare problem? The files are not wma do not have DRM or anything like that.
I have tried reinstalling iTunes and Winamp.
    Thanks

Do the tracks import into iTunes even though the will not play? If so try selecting a track, then go to Advanced>>Convert ID3 tags and select None.
If that allows the track to play you can select multiple tracks to convert.

  • How can I separate my itunes music from my windows media player music?

I've tried changing the file location in preferences>advanced, but every time I open iTunes it doesn't find the library.

Changing the location of the iTunes Media folder tells iTunes where to put new media, not where to "find" the library.

  • ITunes gift card for Windows Media Player library

I am wanting to buy an iTunes giftcard for my brother for his birthday, however he runs his MP3 player through Windows Media Player (Vista) and has never used iTunes before. Will he be able to copy over the files once downloaded so that they'll be usable through Media Player?
If not, then obviously I'll have to think again!
    Cheers

He needs to install this plugin or convert the songs into MP3 in iTunes, and purchase only iTunes Plus content.

Sorry but no. The copy protection will only allow play in iTunes or on a video-capable iPod.

Yes. Use the iTunes command File > Add Folder to Library and point it to the folder where the music is stored. Start with one folder so you can see how it works. iTunes will add whatever is compatible.

iTunes is only designed to sync Apple devices. However, the songs in your iTunes library can be used for other purposes. Follow the instructions that came with your player.

  • How do I get itunes tracks to windows media player

    I need help.

To clarify, do you mean that you want to play tracks from your iTunes music library with Windows Media Player? If so, then they'll have to be in MP3 or WAV format, since WMP won't play AAC.
If you want to get your tracks from Windows Media Player into iTunes, then Chris's advice will apply. Note, though, that iTunes cannot import or play copy-protected WMA, so if you have any of those, they won't work.

  • Linking music files from Windows Media Player to Itunes

How do you link music between WMP (this is where I download my music) and ITunes without having to copy all the files so I don't need to use up hard drive space?

iTunes will not accept Window Media player tracks that are protected. If you imported them off your own CDs, did you check the option to apply protection to them? If so, your only choice is to re-rip those CDs.

  • My music is on a nas loaded by Windows Media Player in WAV. When I import into Itunes only the songs appear no album name etc.

My music is on a nas. Loaded using windows media player in WAV.
When I import into Itunes only the record apears, no Album name etc
How can can I see all the details

Information is often stored as tags embedded in the file.  WAV does not support tagging. I don't know how WMP works but iTunes keeps its own database about media.  For many audio formats, track information will be stored both in iTunes' database and in the file itself as tags.  With formats such as mp3 most tags (not all) will 'travel' with the file when copied.  This does not happen with WAV where the information is only stored in the player application's database.

  • Transfer windows media player music to itunes

I have downloaded all my music in Windows Media Player. I have been trying to import with out losing my music in WMP to itunes. Can anyone help with the steps to transfer or is the word import to itunes. Also, will this step increase the memory used on my hard drive.
    Thanks,

You'll probably want to turn off Windows Media Player's options for updating media information from the internet or reorganising files based on tags. WMP will normally find files that you move manually or using other software but iTunes won't - move it and iTunes loses track of it.
Maintaining/moving your iTunes library is much easier if all the content is inside the *iTunes Media* folder so it might be worth considering placing your media files inside the iTunes Media folder before importing them into iTunes. This also ensures that iTunes won't try to make any copies (other than for .wma) during the import. If, like me, you are particular about how your files are organised (file & folder names longer than 35 characters as WMP would use etc.) then make sure the *Keep iTunes Media folder organised* option is turned off. WMP will find things you move. Also make sure iTunes rip format is set to mp3 so that anything you rip in iTunes is also available to WMP if you want.
