Synchronizations QUITing in DW CS5.5

Big syncs just stop after a few hundred files!
I've been working with Dreamweaver for 12 years now. I can't remember when this started happening or in what version, but today I finally flipped when it happened once too often. I was "get" synchronising the remote to my local copy of a site, 1700+ files. The sync preview runs ok, i started the sync, got 320 something files and then the process failed all the rest of the files on the list.
This happens EVERY time when there are more than a few hundred files. When I looked through the full FTP log I found something I had not noticed before: after the last successful file was retrieved, it appears that DW issued a QUIT command!
< 226 Directory send OK.
> QUIT
< 221 Goodbye
Am I alone in having this issue? Anyone know why Dreamweaver seems to want to rain on my parade and Quit the FTP session mid-way thru so I need to sync many times to get large sites synchronized?
Thanks in advance!
(I'm using CS5.5 at the moment, although this has been an issue for me since at least CS4)

in the earlier versions of DW CS4, there was an option on the toolbar that allowed to draw div- tags manually.
No, there wasn't.  There was an option to draw absolutely positioned divs manually.  There's a huge difference.  In CS5.5 you can do something similar with INSERT | Layout Objects > AP Div, but that will insert an absolutely positioned div that is already sized.  Changing the size/position is a simple matter, however.
You should know that absolute positioning is like an elephant's graveyard for inexperienced or non-coding users.  DO NOT use this unless you understand how absolute positioning works and what the major disadvantages are when it's used to layout a page.

  • Indesign crashes on opening (Quit unexpededly notice) CS5

Indesign crashes immediately on opening. Several times saying it is corrupted but recently just 'quit unexpectedly' This began after moving all software & files from old macbook to new Imac, Is there a way I can uninstall then re install just Indesign rather than the suite? I brought it in 2008/9 disk format and don't want to jeopardize my other programs, I'm worried the disk might have become damaged with age. Although it looks fine and I've only used for one physical installation so far. I don't know if i will be covered??
    Any advice would be awesome,
    Thanks in advance

Thanks Peter, Since posting the first question I've realised my mistake of not installing properly in the first place!! very annoying... I'm going to try and uninstall and re install the whole suite I think. Does that sound like the right thing to do?
    Many Thanks

  • CS5 64bit Scripting Error

    Hi,
Not every time, but quite often, PS CS5 crashes ('Encountered an error and needs to close') when I try to do something which uses scripts, like:  Save Comps to Files, Image Processor or Merge to...
There was a question related to this in July, but it wasn't answered, and it concerned 32bit, in WinXP.  I run Win 7, 64bit.
In Windows Events Log I find the following info:
Faulting application name: Photoshop.exe, version: 12.0.1.0, time stamp: 0x4c255ce6
Faulting module name: ScriptingSupport.8li, version: 10.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4c25616d
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
    Fault offset: 0x00000000000eea83
    Faulting process id: 0xffc
    Faulting application start time: 0x01cb83c454a59b71
    Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)\Photoshop.exe
    Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)\Plug-ins\Extensions\ScriptingSupport.8li
I compared file 'ScriptingSupport.8li' with that file in another installation, and they were identical.
In the thread in July, it was suggested to remove all Adobe apps and reinstall them. It is not something I'll gladly do, and the OP tried it and it didn't solve the problem.
    Any help will be appreciated,
    Moshe

    Hi Tazayoot94,
From the log I see you are getting "Error 1935".
    This is a MSI error.
You can try the solution from the doc : http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/403/kb403969.html

  • Using Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended with MacBook Pro Retina

I intend to buy the new MacBook Pro with retina display. Does anyone know if I will be able to use Photoshop CS5 Extended with it? I could upgrade to CS6 but it seems an unnecessary cost given that I am still quite happy with CS5.

CS5 does not offer Retina quality display - in fact, it looks awful. The current version of CS6 was updated to work with Retina display models (you'll need to check with Adobe to see what the current version of CS6 is... I know they haven't 'abandoned' it, but I subscribe to CC so I'm on CC 2014).
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • CS5.5 Stabilizer Not Working - Question

I've got the demo of AE 5.5.  I'm quite happy with CS5, but I'm intreguied by the warp stabilizer.  However it keeps failing on my one clip that I need it on at step 2.  What can I do?  My first experience with it is it doesn't work.  Is there a way to see WHERE it fails?  What causes it to fail?
Follow up question.  Can you set keyframes to easy in/out how much stabilization it applies?  I want to go from full to zero over the course of a 30 second clip.  I currently have Mercalli stablizer (very good), but it cannot do keyframes--hence my trial of 5.5 to see this, but I can't even get that far.
EDIT:  Acutally, how is this supposed to work?  I dish it simple footage and it can handle it usually (like interview shots), but if I have walkin around shots, it fails every time.  So far, not impressed at all.  Might not upgrade afterall.

theres a topic i did as i aswell have issue but mines with the option of "no motion" i have yet to try what was said.
but theres part of me that is thinking the same as in "its still in beta mode"
i also tried the feature on a action trailer, and for some unknown reason it decided to completely 180 degree turn the explosion, even though the scene was still.

  • CS5 wont x0 y0 a movieclip like Flash8 did.

    Hi,
    Flash 8
    1) New doc and insert >new symbol>graphic, draw a rectangle, give it a colour other than black and exit to scene1
    2) Insert New MovieClip, dragdrop graphic from library to stage of movieclip, it has a small cross within the rectangle lower left of centre, relating to nothing in particular.   In properties make x 0 y 0 and exit back to scene1
    3) Drag drop Movieclip from library to stage and in properties make x0 y0
The result is the rectangle sitting snug up in the left top corner of the stage with a little + at that top left corner.
That cross is what gets moved to 0,0 taking the MovieClip with it.
    Ok so far.
Do this sequence in CS5 and at stage 3 there is a cross within the rectangle and not at its top left corner, When I make x0 y0 that cross locates to stage topleft and throws the rectangle out beyond the stage.
As such its not my Freehand vector prog artwork at fault. Its a difference in the programming of the two versions. An error in CS5 as one would expect artwork to register as it does in Flash8.
I noticed this as I am importing busroutes to stage, each has the same border and in Flash8 using x0 y0 I register all these back together again and in register with a base map. Works fine.
In flash CS5 they are coming in out of register, my MovieClip of a bus route sees a cross sitting outside of the rectangle's top left corner and x0 y0 sees the MovieClip offset South east to where it should go. Flsh8 manages all this no problem. I register many routes onto the map all at x0 y0. To work now with actionscript3 I am using CS5.
Why has CS5 an inability to place that cross topleft corner of my boxes , so messing up my registering of my artwork ?
What is the solution ?  Can I alter a setting and have it act like Flash8, the register + topleft for a MovieClip.
Is it going wrong in the graphic into MovieClip stage ?
    Cheers
    Envirographics

    Hi.
My graphic is drawn in Macromedia Freehand (now Adobe Freehand) and imported to Library.
    1) Insert>NewSymbol>MovieClip and drag drop the graphic from library onto white area and make x0  y0
    2) return to Scene1 and drag drop MoveClip to stage and make x0  y0 and top left corner of graphic registers with top left of stage.
Jobs a good 'un ! done it many times.
I am unable to import Freehand into CS5 so I open the Flash8 file into CS5 and copy paste the graphic from that file into my CS5 files library.
I do stages 1 and 2 only to see the MovieClip artwork sit offset south east of the stage corner with its cross located in that corner.
Is it the opening of these graphic files that work fine in Flash8 into CS5, ...no !  heres the evidence:-
Comparing both programs with native boxes drawn in those progs:-
    Flash8
    1) File>New then insert>New symbol>Graphic, we see a +
    2) Draw a box with the + in the lower right portion of the box and within the box area. (DO NOT select it and make x0  y0 (as per freehand file in other words)  )
    3) Exit to Scene1
    4) Insert>New symbol>MovieClip, see a white area with a +, then dragdrop the graphic onto the white with the + of the movieclip stage sitting within the lower left portion of the graphic, the graphic now has two +'s, the other being that from step1.
So far Flash 8 and CS5 are the same.
    5) make x 0  y0 and the left + now moves to the top left corner of the graphic.
IN CS5 the MovieClip stage + vanishes, we have only one + still near bottom right and its the one from step 2.
    6) exit to scene1
    7) drag drop MovieClip from lib to stage. We see our graphic with a + top left corner
In CS5 there is no + in its top left corner.
    8) make x 0  y 0 and the top left corner of the box is now at the top left corner of the stage.
In CS5 the box is out beyond the stage, with the + from step 2 positioned top left corner of stage !
Its quite evident that CS5 is handling graphics differently.
So do the graphics look different in Flash8 and CS5 if double clicked from within library, no !  both have a + sitting out beyond the top left corner.
This doesnt see Flash8 use it but does see CS5 use it to offset the MovieClip from where I need it to go.
It looks like I shall have to introduce a new stage in the well trodden process,, that of import graphic to library then d/click it and make x 0  y 0 before procedding further. Doing this sees the cross restored to the top left corner in steps 5 and 6 above, and correct registration in 8.

  • Compile with cs5 & flexsdk

i am useing  cs5 following cs4 instruction  to compile a swf  for jwplayer.???? i enter my  path to my flexsdk i the path witch is (c.\program file\flexsdk) field . but when i click on publish setting  button nex to the scrip  down & click  library path tab i did not  fine my $(flexsdk)/frameworks/libs/flex.swc  in my library what am i missing here any help please

    Hi Shane,
I just tried to implement "using terms", but it doesn't seem to work in Xcode, unless both InDesign CS4 and CS5 are open.
(It does work in Script Editor).
Also the "publish terminology" command doesn't seem to do anything to me. At least it doesn't create anything in the location listed in the InDesign Scripting guide:
    ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version x.0/Scripting Support/x.0
It does take a few seconds to execute the command, so it might be creating something someplace else, I don't know. After all it works somehow in Script Editor.
In Xcode's .applescript files, "using terms from application InDesign CS4" doesn't work without CS4 open.
I thought I may need to have it open for the first time as a kick-start.
But even after that if I quit CS4, leave CS5 and open the project in Xcode:
-all "using terms from application InDesign CS4" turn into "using terms from application InDesign CS5"
-classes inside this block turn into «class jpEr» etc.
-if I manually change "CS5" to "CS4" it doesn't help (unlike in Script Editor)
So I need to open InDesign CS4, but it doesn't help either:
«class xxxx» doesn't turn automatically into its AppleScript name, which makes script impossible to compile so I need to change it all back manually.
Am I missing something? I'm reproducing the same steps I do in Script Editor, and it doesn't work in Xcode.

  • Multiple pages in FW save is crashing

Using 10 pages to save is either crashing or corrupting the file upon force quit. . CS5 OS X10.8 intel. Is their a limit on number of pages to use?  Should I separate my files into "parts" of my final website.   I will be exporting to Dreamweaver. My site will have 24 pages total.

You might want to look at the third party TTG Highslide Galley and TTG Pages. The gallery is just that, a web engine for creating galleries but with more options than the LR galleries, and TTG pages will index multiple galleries and generate a home page. That way you could have separate galleries for interir, exterior, etc. It also has client review functionality.

  • How to save the current Indesign defaults file?

Hi, I've tried following the Indesign Classroom in a book but I find it left a lot to be desired for anyone new to this e.g ME!!!!. So can someone please tell me how I can save the current InDesign defaults file on a windows and if you can please do so like you would, for lack of a better word or term, an idiot because I'm fitting that description pretty well right now. Any help will be greatly appreciated and you will forever in my mind be a god, thank you =DDDDD.

Hi, im not too sure (I thought it was a stock standard thing, sorry) so I'll fust give you the instructions my book has.
To save the curren InDesign Defaults file, Follow these steps:
    1, Quit Adobe InDesigns CS5.
2, Locate The Indesigns Defaults file.
. In Windows, the InDesign Defaults file is located in the Documents and Settings/Users/Username/Library/ Application Data/ Adobe/ InDesign/ Version 7.0/en_US folder.
3, Drag the Indesign Defaults file to another folder on you hard drive.
When you launch Adobe Indesign CS5 after moving the InDesigns Defaults file to another folder, a new InDesign Defaults file is automatically created and all prefrences and defaults are reset to their original factory setting.
Okay that's all of it and as far I can get is to the app data, for some reason my notebook doesnt have it and I've been trying to find other ways of getting to it but im having no luck. I would really like to avoid the Ctrl+ Alt+Shift thing because I'll apparently lose any saved settings that I might want to keep.
Hopefully that all makes sense, thank you for responding and your time =3.

  • Restore in place feature?  OSX.6.3 running kinda rough

I think it is time to revitalize my OS, but I have not seen a clear route to "restore in place" on my Snow Leopard DVD. Any advice please? Mostly I am getting lots of quits in Photoshop CS5 products, 64 bit mode, tho I used to not have such problems with CS5 products in 64 bit mode.
I have run permissions regularly, scripts.
I have onyx but there are cleanings and sweeps I'm afraid to do.
I'm not excited about a clean install because reloading all my programs really takes a long time.
I had disk warrior and tech tool for previous systems, but I was hoping to side step the need for these on Show Leopard.
By the way, isn't OSX supposed to start up real fast? Sometimes I get 2 minutes+.

I do use SD. Can I just recover what is damaged with SD? Problem is, I think the damage is cloned too.
And actually I cannot access my Time Machine cuz the drivers for those eSATA back up drives are what bungled my system. But if I could, would I just recover "system"?

  • Imposed books only print one copy

    Greetings,
I have upgraded to CS5 and Quite Imposing software. Quite Imposing is quite nice and CS5 is great to work with.
I have one last hurdle : Imposed books only print one book copy on 8.5 x 15, 28 duplexed sheets in this cvase. After the first book is complete, the red attention light on the HP 4200 Duplex starts flashing, the message is "Tray one must be loaded with standard letter 8.5 x 11 inch paper."
The problem is that I print duplex on 8.5 x 14 paper.
I have tried every selection I can find but can't make 8.5 x 14 be the default size now that I've upgraded.
How do I instruct the printer to stay with 8.5 x 14 after its printed the first one at that size?
    Thanks,
    Garrett

    Peter !
I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one with this problem.
Now it has occurred differently :
One sheet letter size .indd > export to .pdf > printed one copy then printer started blinking and asked to change drawers, this time the paper size change requested was from letter to legal, rather than visa versa .
I then pushed the green check button on the printer and it asked if I wished to return to drawer 2 letter size, I pushed green check and it resumed printing.
Thanks for your time, I am attempting to help so I can be proud of myself,
    Garrett

  • Maximize compatibiliy issue/ Importing into LR

New problem, never had it before.
I opened 20 DNG files in PS, did some work and saved as PSD.
I tried to import them into LR, but it says I need to go back to PS, and save them with maximize compatibility on.
In fact, maximize compatibility was off. (why, no idea)
So I turned it on, quit/ relaunched PS (CS5), Then opened all 20, re-saved them all, but the problem remains,  LR (newest version), is still  giving me the same message.
For new images now, via, DNG,which I made a  PSD, they are fine, but I did a lot of work with those 20, are the toast? thanks.  The open, re-save, and close does not seem to be helping.

Re-saving doesn't fix them because you are still saving the same file with its original Max compatibility setting. You would need to Save As and overwrite the file, by which time you may as well use TIF.
In any case, in the long run TIF is more compatible than the proprietary PSD format and is equivalent for all practical purposes TIF. Duotone mode, displacement maps and transparency in InDesign are the three pretty obscure reasons you might need PSD.

  • Cs Review not connecting

When I fired up premiere cs5.5 on Monday my cs review window would not allow me to log in. The message displayed that cs review has been disabled and that I'd need to contact my internal IT for help but I'm working remote out of my home office and the only connection I have to the Internet is wired through a linksys router. It has worked fine for months. I updated the software to the latest version but it did not resolve the problem.  I can't find a place to enable cs review.

Adobe sent me this when I posted it on the support portal:
would like to inform you that the issue you are facing may have multiple reasons.Well I am providing you a set of steps that you need to perform in order to resolve this issue.
Step 1) Log in as a user with administrator privileges (Mac OS X)
To log in as a user with administrator privileges:
    1. From the Apple menu, choose Log Out.
    2. Click Log Out when the system returns the message "Are you sure you want to quit all applications and log out now?"
    3. When the login screen appears, select a user with administrator privileges, type the appropriate password, and then press Return.
Step 2) Re-create the premier Pro CS5.5 preferences files.
You can re-create the Premier Pro CS5.5 preferences files to eliminate problems caused by a damaged preferences files.
Note: Re-creating the Premier Pro CS5.5 preferences files restores settings to their defaults.
To re-create the CS5.5 preferences [[file or files]]:
    1. Quit Premier Pro CS5.5.
    2. Drag the Users>[Username]>Library>Application Support>Adobe>Premiere Pro>5.5 folder to the Trash.
    3. Restart Premier Pro CS5.5.
Step 3) Run Premier Pro CS5.5 while no other applications are running.
To maximize available RAM and reduce the chance that another application may conflict with Premier Pro CS5.5, quit open applications, and then restart Premier Pro CS5.5.
If applications don't quit as expected, then force quit them.
    To force quit open applications:
    1. Choose Force Quit from the Apple menu.
    2. In the Force Quit Applications dialog box, select an application, and then click Force Quit.
Note: Don't select the Finder, which is the core Mac OS component.
    3. Click Force Quit again when Mac OS returns the alert "Do you want to force [[APPLICATION]] to quit?"
    4. Restart CS5, try to re-create the error, and continue as follows:
    * If the error doesn't occur, then the application you selected in step 2 conflicts with CS5.
    * If the error occurs, then repeat steps 3-4; or, if you've quit all open applications, then proceed to the next task.
Step 4) Start the system in Safe Boot mode (Mac OS X)
To start the system in Safe Boot mode:
    1. Restart the Macintosh. Press and hold the Shift key immediately after you hear the startup tone.
    2. Release the Shift key when the Apple logo appears. Safe Boot appears on the Mac OS X startup screen.
Step 5) Please uninstall the latest update that you installed and see if still you are unable to use CS Review.
This should resolve your issue. If it does, please let us know, however in case it does not; please revert with any new information that you might want to add which will help us in resolving your issue.
That didn't help my issue.  What finally solved it was uninstalling the whole cs5.5 suite and then re-installing it.  It was kind of a pain but at least it works now.  Hopefully they'll adress this issue in the next update.  I would recommend NOT updating your software if you use CS Review until you hear from adobe about the next update having fixed it.

  • Width Tool in Illustrator CC

    HI all,
    I'm new here.
Today I was experimenting a weird problem with Illustrator Width Tool changing the width of a curve.
Apparently the shape it was creating was not curved at all, but like a small segments (just to let you understand, something quite similar to Autocad curves appearance).
Do you know if there's some setting that I have to use to avoid this problem?
Thank you so much in advance.
    francesco

    Hi Thank you so much.
It was quite different in CS5, right now in CC is worst. I don't know why, but it's really weird. The first one is CS5 and the second is CC.

  • What to add / switch to make encoding faster?

I'm looking to add or swap something in my system to improve encode time as much as possible. Currently it's taking 2-3 hours to encode 5 minutes of video.
The video is AVCHD encoding to H.264 and it's put through After Effects first with a Keylight effect to remove green screen. Then imported into Premiere and published there.
What's the best hardware improvement I can make to speed up encode time? RAM?
    Here's what I have currently:
    Gigabyte X58A-UD3R ATX LGA1366 X58 DDR3 4PCI-E SATA3 USB3.0 Sound GLAN CrossFireX SLI Motherboard
    Corsair XMS3 TR3X6G1333C7 6GB DDR3 3X2GB DDR3-1333 CL 7-7-7-20 1T Core i7 Memory Kit
    Intel Core i7 930 Quad Core Processor LGA1366 2.8GHZ 8MB L3 Cache 130W 45NM Retail Box
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA3 6GB/S 7200RPM 64MB Cache 3.5IN Dual Proc Hard Drive OEM
I also recently removed this SSD drive as it seemed to be causing it to crash.
Corsair Storage Solutions Reactor Series 60GB 2.5IN SATA2 Solid State Disk Flash Drive SSD
    Also, had this.
NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800 by PNY 768MB PCI-E16 DVI Dual DisplayPort Workstation Video Card
but just switched to GTX 570  - Was this worth it?
Any advice on what I can add to help pick up encode time and what kind of improvement I can expect would be much appreciated. RAM?
    Thank you!

Good thing that you switched out that old, slow Quadro FX 1800 (which IMHO was based on an underclocked GeForce 9600 GT) for the GTX 570. However, you still have two big problems:
    1) Not enough disks. You have only one hard disk (from your list; however, you actually have two hard drives, which is the absolute minimum required of Adobe to run Premiere Pro to anyone's satisfaction) - and the SATA interface itself is only half-duplex (meaning that it cannot handle data in both directions simultaneously, but rather it only allows data to travel in one direction at a time). Get at least two more (preferably identical) hard disks for that system.
    2) 6GB of RAM is not quite enough for CS5.5. Since RAM is relatively cheap nowadays, go with 24GB of RAM (6 x 4GB sticks). However, in order to use more than 16GB of RAM, you should upgrade to Windows 7 Professional if you are currently running Home Premium.
In addition, I recommend an overclock on that i7-930. But to overclock above 3.4-ish GHz, you should get yourself an aftermarket CPU cooler, such as a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, that's compatible with LGA 1366 CPUs.
