Synchronize color

I have photoshop photos. The color settings in Photoshop are:
RGB:sRGB IEC61966-2.1
CMYK U.S. Web Coated (SWOP)v2
gray: dot gain 20%
spot dot gain 20%
RGB: preserve embedd profiles
cmyk: preserve embedded profiles
gray: preserved embedded profiles
In Illustrator I have some of the same settings except the last one:
Settings:North America General Purpose 2,
RGB: sRGB IEC61966-2.1,
CMYK: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP)v2
RGB: preserve Embedded Profiels
CMYK Preserve Numbers(Ignore Linked Profiles
Is this what the setting in Illustrator is supposed to be?
I didn't synch it between Photoshop and Illustrator. It says your creative suite applications are synchronized using the same color settings for consistent color management in Illustrator but I never synched it at least I don't remember doing it.
When I go to Adobe Bridge the Suite Color Management menu says "Suite Color Management is not enabled" in the bridge. It seems like it is enabled since Illustrator and Photoshop have the same settings? Do I need color management turned on in the Bridge? It appears I can't change it. It probably isn't necessary would that be used for Dreamweaver?
Since I am designing for the web should I turn off anything related to CMYK in Illustrator or leave it as is? I didn't create these settings. The photos have preserve settings embedded in them and when I opened them in Illustrator they preserved the settings. Is there a way to preserve the color swatches from Photoshop as a color combination in Illustrator so I have the same color scheme?

Leave as is. They are just defaults. something has to be there. If you just do web, it matters zero. sRGB al lthe way. At best, you may wish to assign your monitor profile for proof preview, but that's it.

The only CS3 programs I am running are Bridge and PS. I like to work in Adobe RGB and maintain all my files in that color space. Consequently, I set that color space in PSCS3 (in
Edit/Color Settings). However, for some reason I can't nail down, PS often seems to lose my preference and reverts to sRGB; when I re-set my working space to Adobe RGB, I am informed
"Unsynchronized: Your Creative Suite applications are not synchronized for consistent color." I can't find the place where I can tell Bridge to use Adobe RGB color space. How can I resolve this?

I am having the same issue. It is frustrating because I am following a Lynda.com training video that talks about PS CS3 and Bridge basics. Included in that video is how to synchronize color between these two applications. Nowhere does it say that one needs to own a >$1000 full suite to be able to do this. Deke directs the viewer to the Edit menu of Bridge where you are supposed to enter the "creative suite color settings" menu. No such menu exists on my "el cheapo" version of Bridge CS3.

Could not synchronize color settings because of a program error.

First, let me preface this by saying that I have several identical workstations that are all imaged from a single master.
On the master, I configured Bridge to synchronize color settings across my Creative Suite apps. This works on the Master but on every machine I've imaged from the Master I get a "Could not synchronize color settings because of a program error" when I launch Photoshop.
Is there a way to stop the error?

I have my machines setup this way to make preference/setting management/deployment easier.
Yes, I can understand that and as said, I have a single set up.
But in normal set up you install the suite at system level Application folder and use it from the dedicated user account(s) on that machine. All preferences and custom settings for Adobe (at least that I know of) are stored in the user library ( User/ library / Application Support / Adobe / and then per app presets - and same library / preferences / Adobe and many settings folders)
Color sync and custom color profiles you have added are stored in the system library while the saved custom color setting you have created in one of the CS6 apps for use of color settings synchronization is in its turn again stored on user level library (user/ library / application support / Adobe/ Color / Settings) and inhere should be the custom name .csf file you have saved and should be able to find back in the list showing in Bridge when asking for color settings sync.
I really doubt (but as said, no experience in it) imaging the systems is the correct procedure. I'm not sure what settings you want to pre set but mostly they are found in the user lib app support and user lib pref folder (for PS actions, workspaces, custom brushes etc etc.)
And if you are using it for education it is a very good idea to learn all user that there is such thing as a preference command that offer you options to customize the application to your wishes. I can't yell enough about that because PS has a very pre historic default preference settings that needs changing for better use of the app. And the default workspace of Bridge is very clumsy and very unattractive, so the more people learn how to change that themselves the better it will be for making it more popular...

Synchronize color settings

I own PS CS4 and InDesign CS4. From Bridge I can click on Edit->Creative Suite Color Settings but I then get an error msg that says that "Suite Color Management is not enabled" and further that a qualifying product must have been launched at least once. What's going on here? I thought owning more than one product in the creative suite enabled this function.
I'm not sure I want to synchronize the color management in PS and ID but I want to try it to see if it resolves a color management problem I can't figure out.

The key word in your posting is "Suite". If you do not have have a
Creative Suite license and only have a single product license for Ps
then Suite Color Management is not relevant.

How to synchronize colors with two different video cameras

I own Sony FX1 and HC9 video cameras. The color between the two video cameras can be pretty noticeable, and I tend to flip between the two cameras a lot during editing. Ideally I would get them to match up better before I start filming, but despite my attempts, I still can see a noticeable difference between them in post-production. I know I can use the color corrector filter to adjust the colors, but is there a more effective way to adjust the colors of the two video so they match better? I have used that eyedropper on the "visual" screen of the color corrector to adjust the white balance. Is there something similar where I could for example click the eyedropper on the blue of one video and it would change the blue of the video from the second camera to match?

You don't really have the controls for that in FCE. You can't fine tune the color with real precision for color matching in FCE. There is a match hue function with the eyedropper, but without separate shadows, mids, and highlight color controls there is only so much you can do.

Asking the Bridge Team: Bridge "working color space" setting when one does not have the Suite?

Common sense tells me there is really no such thing as a
"working color space" in Bridge, because
Bridge is not an image editor, just a browser
Therefore, this may turn out to be a purely academic question; but that doesn't keep my curiosity from forcing me to ask it anyway. ;)

The only Adobe program I keep up to date is Photoshop, so I've never had the suite. My version of Photoshop is 11 (CS4) and I run updated
(not upgraded) versions of Adobe Acrobat 7.x, Illustrator 10.x and InDesign 2.x. Consequently, the Synchronize color settings command is not available to me.
It seems to me that Bridge is behaving like a proper color-managed browser (e.g. Firefox with color management enabled), in that it displays tagged image files correctly and assumes sRGB for untagged image files. This normally works fine.
But what if I wanted Bridge to assume my
Photoshop color working space for untagged images
so that it behaves the same as Photoshop? I'm just curious, as I deal with a minuscule, practically negligible amount of untagged files.
My reason for bringing it up now is that I don't recall this being explicitly mentioned in forum replies when users inquire about color settings in Bridge. A recent post regarding Version Cue in the Photoshop Macintosh forum got me thinking about this. Just wanting to make sure that I'm right in my assumption that
there is really no such thing as a
"working color space" in Bridge, because Bridge is not an image editor, just a browser.

Thanks for sharing the outcome of your tests. However, I may have found a bug/exception to Bridge's colour management policy!
It appears that CMYK EPS photoshop files are not colour managed in Adobe Bridge, even if they contain an embedded ICC profile.
I've tried every combination in the EPS 'Save As' dialogue box, so it doesn't seem to be an issue with file encoding. Also, Bridge doesn't rely on the low-res preview that is held within the EPS itself.
My guess is that Bridge is previewing the CMYK EPS with a Bridge-generated RGB image, but it's being displayed as monitor RGB (assigned) rather than colour managed (converted to monitor RGB). For most users the difference will be barely perceptible, but the problem became very noticeable when using Bridge to preview Newsprint CMYK images on a wide-gamut monitor (images that should have appeared muted really leapt off the screen!).
How do I report this to the Colour Police at Adobe?!?

Synchronizing color settings in Adobe Bridge

I want to synchronize color settings in Adobe Bridge and I've currently installed photoshop extended CS5 and InDesing CS5.5 (these programs are not installed from any Adobe Creative Suite package. I mean these are not from:

Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Standard
Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Web Premium

My adobe photoshop CS5 extended is downloaded as a single package from softarchive.net and so on InDesign CS5.5 is downloaded as a single package from softarchive.net.)
When I click Edit > Creative Suite Color Settings... from Adobe Bridge an error message appears:
Suite Color Management is not enabled.
Suite Color Management requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature.
Can anyone help me?

I believe Suite Color Management is only installed when you install one of the editions of the Adobe Creative Suite.
You'll need go into Edit > Color Settings in Photoshop and in InDesign and use the same settings. That is, you'll have to do it more manually.

Word to PDF Conversion = Different Color on Paper

Hello All,
I created a bunch of forms in Word 2010. Converted them into PDF and made them fillable. On screen Word doc and PDF doc colors look the same, but when I print PDF documents their blue turns intor dark purple. Any suggestions on how to keep colors consistent with the Word doc? I read about software and screen collibration, but I believe that there must be a simplier way to synchronize colors. Again, on screen colors looks the same.... Thank you very much.

I wan't generate a PDF near the word document in a document library.
Your second link is interesting, allow IntranetCall and permission on application service Word Automation but no change.
I have always :
"The file could not be converted due to an intermittent error in the system. Please resubmit this file for conversion. If the file fails again with this error message, contact your system administrator" error code 10.

CS5 and ACR not same color

In order for my monitor to match my prints that I receive from my lab, I need to "desaturate my monitor" by 15% in the color settings tab. I was previously working in CS2, and when I opened up an image in ACR in CS2, adjusted my image, then opened it in Photoshop.......the color was the same. (I'm assuming that my "desaturate monitor" by 15%, as well as my calibrated screen were all working together. Now, I have upgraded to CS5. And, now when I open a RAW image into photoshop, it is coming in "desaturated" from the ACR screen. Any idea why it's not looking the same, like it did in CS2???

Color Synchronization works between applications, and works to synchronize color workflow choices.
But not all of the applications have exactly the same color features.
The "desaturate" option is specific to Photoshop, and is really a bit of a hack designed for experts to deal with large gamut colorspaces. Most people should never have to use it.
If you aren't using application specific settings (like desaturate), and have the settings matching/syncrhronized - then the color should look the same across the Adobe apps.

Hey guys... I'm at the brink of despair....
whenever I open an Image in Photoshop its colors are completely corrupted (color management broken)
I've tried the following things so far....
Reset Photoshop setting vie holding ctrl + alt + **** while startup - didn't work
Synchronize color settings via Bridge - didn't work
Reinstall Photoshop - didn't work
Adjust my monitor - didn't work
Opened through bridge - didn't work
Does anybody know why its only Photoshop ?
All other software don't seem to have problems, I viewed them in Irfanview and the windows picture viewer and they are correct, but as soon as I open them in Photoshop they're broken..
The color Profiles are the same (Ps settings are sRGB, the image is also set to sRGB) yet broken colors.
Mostly the saturation/brightness and the the color spectrum seems to be incorrect...
Anyone with helpful advices ?

Ah got ya, with some images, the colors always doffer, sometimes I open an .jpg in Camera raw first to adjust some values and open it in ps afterwards and I dunno why some pics just won't be displayed correctly...
So My Monitor is not a really good one (Samsung Syncmaster p2470) its default ICC profile is: Samsung - Natural color pro 1.0 ICM
I realized that pressing alt + ctrl + shift doesnt affect the color settings... What's the default for that btw ?
So is my monitor even able to display the whole adobe rgb color spectrum or should I go for srgb instead ?
And after setting the color profile for the monitor, should I set my color settings in ps to "monitor" or to the color profile itself ?
But no matter what I should leave the "View" section right ?

Color settings on a Mac

I have pse 3.0 on my old eMac and I don't know why, but I keep getting the message "Could not synchronize color settings because color settngs could not be found" and I can't run the program. Any ideas?

Go to your username>library>preferences and delete
com.adobe.Photoshop.Elements.plist
Photoshop Elements 3 settings
Photoshop Elements 3 paths
repair permissions and try again.
If that doesn't do it, drag PSE to the trash and reinstall it.

Color Shifts printing from CS3 Apps

I just loaded CS3 on my system (Mac OS 10.4.10, Dual Core Intel Xeon). I have an OKI5300 laser printer. I sent my client a pdf generated through Indesign, and we are both experiencing the same problem: severe color shifts in our print-out. Indesign prints color correctly, but both Acrobat and Photoshop (I recreated the design in Photoshop by copying and pasting the elements into it) were severely out of balance. However, Acrobat 6 professional, which I still have on my system, printed the original pdf file perfectly. Your suggestions on what to do about this problem.

Problem resolved! I called in to support, as my CS3 package was brand new, and the CS rep figured it out. When printing from Acrobat 8 to a postscript laser printer, the program has a default setting in the print window, under advanced/color profile that says something like Color management by print device. He suggested I select No Color Management, use source profile. This I did and it worked. I think generally Adobe has, in the software, pretty good color management, so letting the software and not the hardware manage color is likely the best choice.
But you are likely right as well, i may also have to synchronize color spaces between software and devices.

No Color Profile

I'm trying to sync my color profile with the CS3 apps. The help tells me to go under Preferences >> Advanced and select "Enable Color Management In Bridge". It is not there to select. Any ideas?

Better go back and read my original post because if you had of read it you would have known exactly where I got my instructions and if you had of read the post you also would have known that the link I posted was the result I got when I fiollowed the instructions given. Thirdly if you read my second reply you would know I am in bridge CS3, that link you posted is for CS2.
So now maybe in the future before you jump, maybe ya better read first, jump second cause your reply is empty and useless. Here is what I get when I go to bridge help and as stated this is what I had said in my original post. Just in case you miss it, I am using win xp pro sp3
