Synchronized text issue from desktop to mobile site design

Hello, I love the idea of synchronized text, but is there a way to assign different styles on both desktop and mobile site pages?
For example, If I use synchronized text on my desktop pages, my font sizes will be larger then the font sizes I would use for my mobile site pages. But, using synchronized text, if that content is linked between my desktop and mobile pages, I'm limited to one font size, which would work for my desktop site but the font size would be too large for my mobile site.
The content between between desktop and mobile would be the same text, but I need the option to assign a different font size for my mobile site.
Is this possible? If not, can you please add this to new features.

Hi,
Single page websites can be great for new sites or for some special projects, but I won't recommend them as long-term solutions and, if you already have a multi-page website, I do not recommend switching to a single-page site.
If your single page site has great content and good structure, google might provide same treatment as it does for various sub pages website.

Search engines will index all the pages of your website, providing multiple opportunities for your site to come up in searches. When your site consists of only one page, a single page is exactly what you’ll have indexed.
That means if you have many services, many products, single page design will really compromise your rank and result in search engine.

Separating all.css from stand-alone mobile site

I have come to the conclusion that I need to create a stand-alone mobile site for a client's ecommerce site. Should I copy and paste my css code from the desktop version "all.css" into the phone.css so as to keep them separate? The "Main template_phone.dwt" uses "all.css" and "phone.css" but I don't want to change any of the css for my desktop version. Thank you!

That really depends on the situation and what if any CSS you are reusing.
There are several ways to do what you need including, seperate CSS files, Media Queries (Dreamweaver), the BC built in mobile template system, if doing it in Muse they now have mobile capability now as well.
So we would really need more information to advise what would be the best solution for you.

How to detect whether the request is from Desktop or Mobile and redirect accordingly.

I have 2 pages with alomost data, one(for mobile devices) page having only important highlights. I want to redirect to mobile devices page when the request is from mobile devices and to regular webpage when request is from desktop...

I created a regular site in dreamweaver and then I made a mobile version usingjquery mobile, how do I link the two together so when someone search fro the site on a desktop the regular site will show and when someone searches for it on a mobile device the mobile one will show?

That is why better informed web developers use the Responsive Web Design (RWD) technique. I thoroughly recommend this.

The example will not help you
because the url that we generate we take it from the sms provider ( or the mobile service company )
so its will not work with you.
I mean if you want to send sms there is no standard way
because its depend on the sms provider ( or the mobile service company )
because every provider have different way>
So the sms provider must tell you how to generate that URL or what is the a webservice
that will send the sms.

As a note, you can double tap the Home button and select the iPod app as that is what I'm doing now. It's not intuitive and you would think if you select Done you'd go back to the folder list in the iPod app.

Quick Look Full Screen Issue from Desktop

I have an issue with quick looking files in full screen from a screen other than that which is occupied by the Finder.
Example, I have a pdf on my desktop, if I Quick Look it, it opens OK on all screens but if I try to go into full screeen from Quick Look it does not work unless I am on the same screen as the Finder.
On close inspection, this is because the Finder App options is set to 'This Desktop' (control-click on the Finder icon in the dock and choose Options). If I set it to 'None' then this issue cannot be replicated. Anyone think that this is an issue with Lion and Quick Look should not be written this way? This was initially confusing for me and I though that something was broken.

I remembered that there had been a slight bug in the Leopard Quicklook, so that if you went to full-screen QL, then used Command-Tab to switch to another program, then Command-Tab back to Finder, you would be back in QL Full Screen, but you could now navigate with the arrow keys. At first I thought this had been fixed, and started mucking about with other key combos and accidently got it going again. Took awhile to figure out exactly what I had done, but it works like this:
1. Select your file, hit spacebar and click the full screen arrows
2. Command-tab to some other program
3. Mouse click the toolbar or sidebar of the open folder with your file in it
4. You can now navigate with the arrow keys
Although I don't really see how this is better or easier than opening the folder, hitting Command-A, then bringing up QL....

Texting issues from one Android phone only

I have a friend with an android that all of the sudden cant send me texts. I can send to her, but I don't receive. She is not blocked. I've tried resetting my network too. I get texts from other androids, just not her. How do we fix this?

Mobile site design for eshop

Hi Guys
We have an eshop that displays products in 3 columns which we need to keep - ie - we can't display them in 1 column.
This is setup in the overall layout {tag_productlist,3,,}
However, when we turn on our mobile template - we only want products to display in 1 column - and not 3.
BC renders the individual products in tables so we are finding it difficult to control the column length using css, widths and float tags.
We also can't use any js to control the value in {tag_productlist,3,,} as this is rendered server-side. Any suggestions or examples of sites that have achieved this or something similar?

Lists the products in the current catalogue (Use {tag_productlist,u,v,w,x,y,z} where u is the number of products per row; v is the target frame, e.g. _blank or leave empty; w is the number of products per page (limit of 500 products per page); x is the sort type, e.g. Price, or Alphabetical; y allows you to hide empty message, e.g. 'this catalog has no products' and z is list type). Change: {tag_productlist,4} to {tag_productlist,4,,,,,true} to display as LI.
Set it to LI and make the width of the container effect the li items which you float.
YOu do not need a new template for this either, just fluid widths ala responsive design.

PC Desktop copyto Mobile Device??

Developing a little tool in Flash Builder 4.5/ AIR. I have a simple mobile app device built and running on a Motorola Xoom. However I am looking for a way to copy files to the mobile device from my PC (Windows) desktop. Would be nice if it could work on both Mac OSX and PC but am concentrating on Windows for now. Or alternatively import from Desktop to Mobile, in principle I guess it is the same thing

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

You can check for problems with preferences and try to rename or delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js files and a possible user.js file to reset all prefs to the default values.

MSM for Mobile site

We are considering using MSM (Multi Site Manager) for Mobile site using livecopy, before we finalize the decision need to clerify some of the possibilities including:
Is it possible to automatically swap certain components? e.g. If desktop site is using TextA component then we want mobile site which is a livecopy of it to use TextAMobile component for the same content (in a automated way).
If it possible to make livecopy use a different template? e.g. if desktop site is using template TemplateDesktop then we want to Mobile site to use TemplateMobile

Goto "etc/msm/rolloutconfigs/mobile/_jcr_content/editProperties" and see the values for "editMap" properties to update template name during Live Copy. Like wise you can modify some of your properties during livecopy.

BBC News Mobile Site.

Just got a Lumia 920 (very good so far), but the text size on BBC News Mobile Site (my favourite site) is tiny and does not respond to text size settings. Is this to do with Nokia or Windows 8 or BBC Mobile or is it me?Oddly enough the BBC Sport section is ok. I could wear specs but am too vain. Cheers Tim
