Synchronizing caption info in Metadata

Can I synchronize Caption info in Metadata across multiple computers? Our Master images are located on a server at my studio. If I add a caption to an image from my computer, then go to another computer in my studio, and synchronize the folder that the image is located in, the caption does not show up in the Metadata.

On your computer, Cmd S saves the metadata back to the images (or a sidecar file). You can switch this on automatically if you wish - at first it'll slow things down but it's quicker after the first run. On the other computer, Library > Read Metadata from File.

    I cannot seem to find a way to enter the job name into the "file info" or metadata in Photoshop CS. If the job name was entered in a previous version of photoshop such as PS7 it will appear in the file info under the advanced tab underthe XMP Basic job ticket properties but cannot be edited. As a work around I am using PS 7 to enter my job name and then using CS for everything else. There must be a better way. Am I missing something?

    Ahem, well this is interesting.  I haven't found a way to write a custom panel to display the JobName in CS and make it editable - perhaps a limitation to the panel language.<br /><br />One option is to create a template to apply to multiple files - either through the flyout menu in File Info, Replace in the Advanced panel or via the File Browser > Edit > Replace Metadata.<br /><br />Below is a template that I created.  Best way to create your own is to save a template with the JobName property present, then go in an edit the file to remove the other template data and retain the jobName section as I did below.<br /><br />Edit the jobName value between the tags and rename the template - then use the Replace command to apply it to files in CS.<br /><br />Not a pretty work around.  Otherwise I would suggest using another field going forward.<br /><br />Gunar<br /><br /><?xpacket begin='Ôªø' id='W5M0MpCehiHzreSzNTczkc9d'?><x:xmpmeta xmlns:x='adobe:ns:meta/' x:xmptk='XMP toolkit 3.0-29, framework 1.6'><br /><rdf:RDF xmlns:rdf='http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#' xmlns:iX='http://ns.adobe.com/iX/1.0/'><br /><br /> <rdf:Description rdf:about=''<br />  xmlns:stJob='http://ns.adobe.com/xap/1.0/sType/Job#'<br />  xmlns:xapBJ='http://ns.adobe.com/xap/1.0/bj/'><br />  <xapBJ:JobRef><br />   <rdf:Bag><br />    <rdf:li rdf:parseType='Resource'><br />     <stJob:name>new info goes into here</stJob:name><br />    </rdf:li><br />   </rdf:Bag><br />  </xapBJ:JobRef><br /> </rdf:Description><br /><br /></rdf:RDF><br /></x:xmpmeta><br /><?xpacket end='r'?>

  • Category and Supplemental Category are missing from Photoshop CC 2014 File Info IPTC metadata

    Photoshop CC 2014.0.0 is missing the File Info IPTC metadata fields Category and Supplemental Category. Is there a way to restore them? The new interface to all the IPTC fields is much less flexible—they cannot be rearranged or hidden as in Photoshop CC 14.x

  • How to get Caption of custom metadat

    Hi everybody,
    I tried to change tha page "Workflow in queue". I would like to add my custom field.
    I don't have a problem to add custom metadata field, but I have problem with the Caption.
    This code doesn't get the Caption of the field xInvoice_Number:
    <$exec setValue("ColumnProperties", "headerLabel", getFieldConfigValue("xInvoice_Number", "fieldCaption", "Caption"))$>
    Can you help me how to get the Caption of custom metadata filed?
    Thank you
    Martin

    Two questions:
    - have you set up Field Caption for your custom field in Configuration Manager?
    - if not, does your string "Caption" exist in your resources (still, I think you should use the lw() function)

  • Aperture stripping caption info using aperturetoFTPpro plug in

    I have been uploading large jpegs onto another server using ftp plug-in with Aperture. But it strips the photo info, captions etc from the file, which is crucial information for my clients. Does any one know why this is happening, If I could ftp directly from iphoto or Photoshop elements even, it would be easier for me as I don't find aperture useful for multiple batch changes in file names and captions.
    Currently I have been editing the file names and comments in iphoto, exporting 'version name' (other wise it exports the original file name) to a folder on the desktop and then importing these files into aperture where I use a plug in AperturetoFTPpro. I do have the export version box checked and not the 'master' box - By now i've lost track of which it thinks the 'master' or 'version' is!
    not sure what's causing the problem, iphoto or aperture.
    When i look at the metadata in aperture, I can't see the captions, but if i open the same file in photoshop and do 'apple i' the info is there.

    Have you checked with the Font Book Utility if there are still any font families marked with an exclamation mark as duplicates?
    If the upgrade to 3.2.2. does not resolve your problem, try if running Aperture in 32bit mode will help.
    I am not entirely sure if duplicate fonts might cause the problem - the last crash with nik plug-ins reported in this forum that were related to duplicate Arial fonts  (Re: Nik Plugin Crash Issues) was with the viveza plug-in, not with the colorefex plug-in, also the crash occured when selecting the plug-in from the menu "Performing @selector(a_editWithPlugIn:) from sender NSMenuItem", not  with a bad access when addressing the graphics card.

    So your problem might be related to the  ATIRadeonX3000GLDriver; maybe the plugin is still using an old Snow Leopard version, that may be incompatible with Lion?

  • Can Premier Pro make use of caption and keyword metadata from Lightroom

    I’m using Premier CS6 to create a slideshow with images from Lightroom. When I export from Lightroom, I have quite a bit of Metadata encoded into the image and I’m wondering if there is a way to see that metadata in Premier?
    I’m probably dreaming but I’d love to be able to create a lower third, title template that would get its information from the Caption field in Lightroom.
    Any other tips for using Lightroom and Premier together would be appreciated.

    Whatever metadata is viewable in PP will be available in the metadata pane.  However, titles cannot automatically 'grab' their data from any source.  It has to be typed or copied in manually.

  • IWeb Photo Captioning from Aperture Metadata

    I'm not sure if this should be under iWeb or Aperture. I use Aperture 2.1 and iWeb '08 2.0.3. In iWeb I have albums of photos from Aperture. When using the media browser for adding Aperture photos into iWeb, the standard nomenclature is for the iWeb caption to use the Aperture 'Version Name'. Since iWeb can be set to have more than one caption line, I was wondering if there was a way to map Aperture metadata into the multiple lines of iWeb photo captions? As it is, any additional iWeb caption lines have to be added manually. Can this additional caption information be added automatically?

    I'm banging my head on this too.. I prefer to use iWeb for several reasons: one is that I publish to a non-Apple webhost; and I prefer the editing capabilities of iWeb vs Aperture/iPhoto -- plus the templates are more varied.
    It's hard to believe that Apple doesn't provide this extremely basic capability. I've noticed other threads on this & it doesn't seem that it's possible.

  • Photoshop changes file info xmp metadata - unknown to public domain?

    Curious if anyone has feedback or solution for the following:
    My PSD file's metadata enters photoshop with "unknown" as the copyright status, and then after I save it in a new format or with a new name
    , I notice that in Bridge the copyright status shows up incorrectly as "public domain." This is incorrent and should not change on
    its own. I've been using Photoshop with Bridge for many years, and have never seen this...

    I have a script that the user runs to input xmp data into a Customized version of the generic file info panel. it is data that is gathered from the user when the psd file is created. once the file is open in photoshop. the information is visible in the File info panel , the raw data, and as a schema addition in the advanced tab.
    in CC the nodes and the children of the XMP packet have changed positions. so that the XML -this.XMP.child(0).appendChild(this.createNode())
    is no longer the node that can be appended.
    Where XML.child(0).elements().length(); would enable the xmlns to be added in CS6
    <rdf:Description xmlns:phsa="' + this.namespace + '" xmlns:rdf="http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#" xmlns:x="adobe:ns:meta/" rdf:about="" />'
    it is visible in CC as namespace in a different arrangement. XML.child(0).child(0).namespaceDeclarations().toString()) and the children are  XML.child(0).child(0).elements().length().toString()); There are now 7 child nodes where before there were 1.
    with all shifted, the initialize of the values and the delete XMP packet wrapper and create new or the amend to the XMP packet wrapper is undefined.

  • Get Info panel metadata all gone after upgrade to Yosemite!

    Shortly after upgrading to Yosemite I discovered that all the metadata I had typed into the Get Info panel for a multitude of image files has been wiped out! Need less to say I'm ****** off. What happened and is there any way to recover this info? On a related note I also discovered that the field where you type info now behaves like a tag entry field, where typing a comma creates separate snippets of text. Whose brilliant idea was that? Is there a preference that can be reset so the field will accept text normally? Thanks.

    I have the same problem, and no I haven't moved it.. but it's back to the default WIKI after the upgrade..
    It seems there's the data in there.. a good 7-8 gig's worth, so I'm not thinking that's the default/empty data.
    There IS a
    Config
    Config.original
    Actually.. I'm not sure about the exact wording cos I can't access the computer as Yosemite is hanging right now.. **** Yosemite, I'm never going there again...

  • Trouble maintaining original "date taken" info and metadata when exporting TIFFs from original CR2 files.

    When exporting TIFFs (from original RAW), I noticed my metadata said the "date created" was the day of export. I want to be able to access the date the original image was taken as opposed to the day I exported it. Is there a way to maintain original date of image taken in my info? I couldn't seem to find it after I exported my TIFFs...

    I just tested this with LR 5.5 Mac OS 10.9.3 and it works correctly for me.
    To troubleshoot your problem:
    1. Which version of LR and which platform (Mac, Windows)?
    2. Which tool or command are you using to examine Date Created of the exported TIFF?
    3. Upload a sample TIFF showing the problem to Dropbox or similar and post the URL here. This will allow us to take a look in detail.

  • IPTC Info in Metadata Boxes?

    When you add a new metadata box to page, is it possible to have that metadata box populate itself with the City/Country IPTC info?
    I can't seem to find a way to change (add/remove) the metadata fields in the drop down menu.
    I'm trying to make a contact sheet that includes the City and Country where each photo was shot.
    Thank you,
    Kenny

    The metadata is recorded by the camera. Aperture simply reads what data the camera recorded. I'd suggest you update your camera firmware, if an update is available. My experience with this is that the camera body manufacturer's lenses are often much more reliably identified.
    Regardless, not all lens information is available for all cameras; it's currently a hit-and-miss technology.
    I'd say don't worry about it much.

  • Flex 3 Passing Event Info via Metadata

    As an opener, I am a complete new Flex user and a total novice.  This is my first crack at it and first post.  Now my problem, I am modifying and updating some existing Flex 3 code using the SDK.  I have completed all updates save one, The Alert messages HAVE NEVER WORKED, so I am trying to get those working.
    The application uses a parent mxml file, FileUploadApp.mxml which sets the stage and a canvas.
    That file uses a subordinate mxml file, FileUpload.mxml does all the work and places items on the canvas.
    FileUpload.swf is created, then included in FileUploadApp.swf.  Everything works except the Alert messages.  Communication from FileUploadApp.swf is as two fold:
    1) variables and constants are defined in FileUploadApp and used by FileUpload.
    2) evemts are defined in FileUpload and passed back to FileUploadApp via metadata.  All events are being passed back except button/mouse events.
    FileUploadApp code:
    <mx:Canvas width="400" height="300" horizontalCenter="0" verticalCenter="0">
    <com:FileUpload
      width="100%" height="100%"
      uploadUrl="{_strUploadScript}"
      uploadComplete="Alert.show('File(s) have been uploaded.', 'Upload successful')"
      uploadIOError="Alert.show('IO Error in uploading file.', 'Error')"
      uploadHTTPError="Alert.show('Upload Server Connection Lost.', 'Upload Failure')"
      uploadSecurityError="Alert.show('Security Error in uploading file.', 'Error')"
      btnCancel="Alert.show('You have canceled this upload.', 'Upload Cancled')"/>
    </mx:Canvas>
    FileUpload code:
    <mx:Metadata>
    [Event(name="uploadComplete", type="flash.events.Event")]
    [Event(name="uploadProgress", type="flash.events.ProgressEvent")]
    [Event(name="uploadCancel", type="flash.events.Event")]
    [Event(name="uploadIOError", type="flash.events.IOErrorEvent")]
    [Event(name="uploadHTTPError", type="flash.events.HTTPStatusEvent")]
    [Event(name="uploadSecurityError", type="flash.events.SecurityErrorEvent")]
    [Event(name="btnCancel", type="flash.events.MouseEvent")]
    </mx:Metadata>
    btnCancel.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onbtnCancelClick);
    var mevt:MouseEvent = new MouseEvent("btnCancel");
    dispatchEvent(mevt);
    <mx:Button id="btnCancel" toolTip="Cancel upload" icon="@Embed('assets/cancel2.png')" width="26" click="onbtnCancelClick()"/>
    When the "btnCancel" button is clicked, the user should get the Alert message "Upload Cancled'.  All the other Alerts from events except the button events are being displayed.
    Any help will be appreciated.

    rtalton
    There are two mxml files:
    FileUploadApp.mxml => Sets the stage, some constants, some variables, all the Alerts from events and the canvas.
    There is a subordinate file, FileUpload.mxml =>  does all the work, has the images that are placed on the canvas and processes all events, but passes the events back to FileUploadApp.mxml to process the Alerts.
    FileUpload.mxml is compiled to FileUpload.swf and included into FileUploadApp.swf, all in the same compile.  Only FileUploadApp.swf is used in the Flash Player.
    Do no know why this path was chosen, as in my original message, this is code I am modifying and updating.  I have everything else running correctly except the Alerts.  I tried moving all Alert processing to FileUpload.mxml to avoid passing the event through metadata, but no joy.  The Alerts have to be processed where the original blank canvas is defined, that is FileUploadApp.mxml.

  • Is there a way to change caption info from my iPad in Lightroom Mobile?

    I want my client to be able to caption photos as I do the processing from my laptop.  I want him to work from my iPad. Can this be done? I have the two devices synced. It seems to be working correctly. I just cant find the button to let me do the caption.

    Thank you so very much.  That is, unfortunately, the ONLY use that I have for the mobile app.  It will be useful **someday** but not today. Many, many thanks again.
