Synchronizing iPhone 4 with Aperture

I would like to synchronize my iPhone 4 with Aperture instead of iPhoto. However, when I elect Aperture, iTunes tells me to set Aperture up to share previews. I have set Aperture up to share previews with iLife and iWork but this doesn't help (I still get the same message). I haven't been able to find any other sharing settings in Aperture. What do I do wrong?

However, my problems is actually not getting pictures from the iPhone to Aperture but getting pictures from Aperture to the iPhone, i.e. to have access to my photos when meeting friends and family and to be able to send them by text message. It seems Image Capture only works for imports to the laptop. Is this correct? When I choose Aperture in iTunes for synchronization purposes, it still says it cannot find the Aperture library and asks med to change the setting for sharing of previews in Aperture. Could the reason be that I actually import new photos to Lightroom 2 and then import them to Aperture without copying or changing the location of the photos? I do this because I have used Lightroom for many years and only recently converted to Aperture.

Synching iPad/iPhone with Aperture missing pictures

Recently when I synch my iPad and iPhone with iTunes , the number of pictures I get on my iPad or iPhone is either less or equal to zero when compared to the folders and projects in my Aperture Library. For Example my entire Aperture library contains 15331 pictures if I synch it all I consistently get 5604 photos in my iPad or iPhone. I have the latest versions of OSX, Aperture and ITunes as well as iOS. I have repaired, rebuilt the Aperture Library and repaired permissions on my HD but the problem persists.
Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

There is no solution. USB 2.0 is required. If your notebook has a PCMCIA slot then you might look for a PCMCIA card that provides one or two USB 2.0 ports, but I don't know if such an animal exists.

Updating / Synchronizing iPhone with new computer - pruchased music lost?

A friend of mine has an iPhone 3G which she uses happily to download music from the iTues store over Wi-Fi.
She has never synchronized this with a computer but wants the 3.0 update.
Do you guys know of any way that we can update without losing her purchased songs?
In case it is relevant, I do have a MacBook that she could sync with if that turns out to be better than using iTunes on Windows.

Purchased music can be transfered in itunes. Disable autosync, connect your phone, right click on your phone in the device list and choose transfer purchases.
The music will show up in itunes/Store list/purchases with iphone
Since you can only sync media content to one computer at a time, sync to the one she uses. If she syncs to your mac and changes back to her pc afterwards, all her music will be erased during the first sync.
And convince her to backup her phone from time to time

Problem synchronizing iPhone with iPhoto

Sometimes when I synchronize the iPhone with iPhoto, it takes too long and some photos don't get synchronized it says that the file is unreadable and on iPhoto it appears all corrupted.

Did you already try to reset the photo cache?

After a little further research, it appears that you would need to create separate iTunes libraries in order to be able to continue to purchase and download previously purchased items on the same computer, for two different Apple IDs. Sorry - but my husband and I have had the library we sync with authorized for so long, that we have not run into this issue, but it appears that you will get an warning when you try to authorize the second ID on the same computer, indicating that another ID is already associated with it.
So, you will probably have to set up separate iTunes libraries for each ID:

Fatal error in synchronizing iPhone with outlook! But no error warning!

I just noticed that my calendar on iPhone has several failures compared to my outlook calendar! On May 13th it is the Ascension Day! My iPhone tells me that the Ascension Day is on Wednesday 12th!!!! There are a lot of similar faults such as the Norwegian national day on may 17th. My iPhone tells me that it is on may 16th!!!! I have tried the advanced function in iTunes to let outlook completely remove my iPhone calendar. I have synced the iPhone with a empty calendar and then synced back with the normal calendar. At last. My iPhone synchronizes wrong! Unbelievable! Can somebody help me? The weard thing is that this is just about some of may "whole day" happenings such as special days, birthdays etc. All other appointments is correct!

Synchronizing iphone with 2 copies of Outlook

Hi,
Before I get an iphone I wonder if anyone is using one like I will be. I have a local copy of Outlook at home (2007), and also at work (2007). I want to keep them both synchronized with my phone, and I understand that itunes can do that. I need to sync contacts, to do lists and calendar, not emails.
At the moment i have a windows mobile and it makes a frankly awful job of synching and keeping all 3 calendars in sync - mobile device centre is clunky and doesn't seem to work properly for me. I update the calendar at work, home and on the phone, and sometimes it simply can't cope with updating to both the PC calendars.
Can anyone who has this scenario working with iphone 4 put my mind at rest that itunes can handle this?

Here's the deal, while in "theory" you can sync contacts & calendars with more than one computer, and some users get this working with no issues, Apple specifically recommends you NOT do so. Rather, Apple only recommends you do so ONCE, to transfer the data, & warns that continuing to sync such data with more than one computer "could" lead to data loss, corruption or both. Your mileage may vary.

Synchronizing iPhone with Microsoft Works

Is there a method of synchronizing the iPhone calendar and/ or contacts with Microsoft Works calendar and contacts applications? I don't have Outlook on my home computer but do have Works and the Works calendar and contacts applications look very similar to Outlook so maybe there's a way to do it.

I doubt there is a way. In the WindowsMobile world it can NOT be done either. The closest thing in WinMo is syncing with Outlook Express and that requires a 3rd party sync tool - SyncExpress.
Works has always looked similar to office but been very different. At one time you could not move spreadsheets between Works and Excel.
I would recommend sending feedback to Apple, or maybe look into a different Calendar/Contacts app.

Did you check "Sync notes" in iTunes/info pane/Other, with your phone connected to your MacbookPro?
Your notes will show up in the Mail program/Reminders on your Mac.

as google calender sync. is no longer supported and available, I am looking for ways to sync. my Iphone to my Outlook. is icloude good for that?

use windows live (create a windows live Id)... in outlook use the hotmail connector, on iphone use mail setup for hotmail, include contacts and calender. Then all sync seamlessly.
In outlook you will have a separate contact list and a separate calendar - copy your normal contacts and calendar to these. I now use those contacts and calender as my default in outlook.
This same technique works with windows phone also

Synchronizing iphone with itunes on pc

I have upgraded my itunes on pc and updated my iphne 3gs as well. I have lost my music on the iphone and when tried to syncronize with pc, itunes tries to start synchonizing but then failes within minutes. Can someone help me pls?

When I try to syncronise, it starts by displaying "syncronising step 1 of 6" and remains like this for about 3 or 4 minutes and then a window is displayed with "syncronising failed"

I own an iMac, but just today got a MacBook Pro.... I am wondering if I can have my iTunes library on both so I can sincromize my Ipad and Iphone on the Mca Book when I am travelling...?

As long as you have the exactly same content in each iTunes library, you'll have no problem syncing.
The truth is what raominggnome said, that if you do that, your iPhone, iPad, etc. will replace the content for the one that's on your "new" library. But as I told you, if you've got the same things in each computer, you'll always sync the same from both of them.

IPhone and Aperture 3

I've been trying to sincronize my iPhone with Aperture 3 via iTunes. When I try, a message appears saying:
"The Aperture Library has not been found. Open the Preferences window in Aperture and activate the option that allows to share previews with other applications"
I've tried to find the option, but haven't been able to find it.
Can anybody help???

Do your images have previews?
Select all the images you want to share in the browser and select "Photos > Update Previews" from the main menu bar.
You also may need to repair your Aperture library or fix a corrupted Preference file, see the
Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805
on how to do this. Try first to repair the permissions, then to repair the library, then to remove the preferences.
Another possibility might be the iPod Photo Cache inside the library package.
Quit Aperture.
Open the Aperture Library package by ctrl-clicking it, selecting "Show Package Contents", and then remove the folder "iPod Photo Cache".

You can redownload you previously purchased apps for free as long as they are still available in the app store. Be sure you are logged into the Apple ID in iTunes used to purchase them, then follow this guide: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.

Error -50 - Syncing iPhone photos with aperture

Hi,
The facts:
OS - 10.7 Lion
iTunes - 10.4
iOS - 4.3.5
So when I updated to Lion and iTunes 10.4 my photos from Aperture will no longer sync with my phone. I get the error (-50), which to my understanding is a time out error. Now when I sync with iPhoto it works, no error.
Any help with getting my iPhone to sync with Aperture would be appreciated.
