Synchronizing your modifications ...

When I quit iCal 2.0.4 running under OSX 10.4.8 on my PowerBook 17" I receive the message "Synchronizing your modifications ...". Synchronization never seems to complete, so I have to force-quit iCal. The behavior is the same, regardless of whether .mac is reachable over the Internet or not. I see in the console log that OSX thinks it isn't and claims to be quitting synchronization.
Has anybody else encountered -- and hopefully solved! -- this problem?

This is the solution to this problem
Export each of your calendars to a folder on your desktop for safe keeping.
Quit ical.
Under your user (the house icon), go to the libray folder > Application Support> and you will find a folder called Syncservices. Take that folder and throw it in the trash.
Restart ical and you should be fine.

    So my wife has been having some major issues with iCal. I'll spare you all of the gory details of me having to resurrect one of her calendars by modifying it in text edit.
    Anyway I now have her back up and running again, but she now gets a drop down dialog that says "synchronizing your modifications..." with an "abort and quit" button after it (This doesn't work BTW).
    What exactly is it synchronizing with? I am not using .mac (I tried and somewhat blame it for my recent woes) but have since removed all login information from the .mac pref pane, and deleted just about every plist I can think of.
    I'd love to get rid of this thing but can't seem to find anyone else who has experienced it. At least not in this forum or the iSync forum.
    Any suggestions will be tried and results posted.

    These sorts of issues arise when data stored in, on or at individual synchronization clients becomes corrupted, or when data stored in your centralized truth database does.
    First, backup iCal on the primary computer you use—using the option to do so under the File menu of that application—after making any changes to it that you wish to have propagate throughout the framework before you do so. You should modify and then back up your Address Book data in a similar manner.
    Then launch iSync, open the Preferences… dialog, press the Reset Sync History… button and follow the directions which appear. This procedure will leave your synchronization clients registered and their data stores intact, but will empty the truth database and make it appear to the framework as though you had never synchronized. This—in turn—will force a slow, first-time synchronization during the next synchronization event, and will distribute the now corrected and backed up data across your entire client pool, eliminating the issue you now see.

    I have a brand new install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. New install of Office 2010 with Hotmail Connector.
    I cannot receive emails to Outlook for my Hotmail account. I tried to delete then re-add the Hotmail account in Outlook. No luck.

    Step 1: Try to remove and re-add the account in Outlook and check.

    Just plug the USB cable from your phone to your computer.  You should get instructions in installing Blackberry Link.
    Link does the backup when you sync.  You can set the backup frequency.
    Link also updates your calendar and contact information.

  • Help Please! iCal won't close without "synchronizing modificatons"

    I have iCal on an intel iMac running Tiger. I emailed my calendars from my old mac to my new mac and imported them into my new iCal. iCal won't close now, it says "Synchronizing Your Modifications" Abort and Quit is given as a choice, but it doesn't quit. What is this? HELP !!!

    To reinstall iCal:
    1. Insert the Snow Leopard Installation disk into the computer.
    2. The disk will appear on the desktop.
    3. Double click on the "Optional Installs" folder.
    4. Double click on the "Optional Installs.mpkg."
    5. Click on (Continue) in Introduction.
    6. Click on (Continue) in Software License Agreement.
    7. Click on (Agree) to agree to the terms of the software license agreement.
    8. Click on the disclosure arrow ▶ next to Applications.
    9. Select (✓) iCal.
    10. Click (Continue).
    11. After iCal has been reinstalled, download and install the Mac OS X v10.6.7 Update Combo to bring iCal up to the most recent version.

  • Ical widget launch ical

    This is more of an annoyance than a serious question, still help would be appreciated. I seem to remember having the ability to use the iCal widget that came with Snow Leopard to open iCal to a specific date. To do this, all I had to do was go to that widget in my Dashboard, double-click on the date I was interested on and voila! iCal launched with that specific date open. Not any more. Now the widget appears as a single square containing today's date first, which you can expand once, by double clicking, to get the full month, which you can adjust using the arrows, and then double click again to get a list of today's events. You can also click on one of those events and that will launch iCal. Still, I miss being able to be more specific in which day I wanted to open iCal in. Did the features of the widget change or is mine just malfunctioning? Let me know what you think. Thank you!
    On a side note, it will be interesting to see what happens to Dashboard and widgets when Lion (Mac OS X 10.7) is launched.

    Here's some point's regarding my slice of horror, fyi. I kid you not I was going to buy an iphone tomorrow. I am spooked.
    On the 5th, the synced ical calendars and address books simply vanished from my connected ipod classic. Today, itunes attempted to update the ipod software to 1.0.2 and iCal never fully launched itself again. (Perhaps related - or not? - In iphoto, in order to access its preferences there's a (15-25 minute wait. And I tried deleting the several different applications' preferences, etc.) And now not even a folder titled "Calendars" exists on my hard drive. (At least I've got my palm pilot which remarkably has the calendars. From here....?)
    Any further thoughts or tips would be more than welcome if they come to you at your convenience.
    Hope we all come out of this together.

  • ICal does launch

    I run iCal. I get the spinning gears for 40 seconds, then it crashes. there is a Kernel failure. I get an opprtunity to TRY AGAIN, CANCEL or REPORT.
    I cannot get the program to start. I have restarted the Mac, and closed all other app.s. Any ideas?

  • Solution to problems synchronizing with Mercedes C...

    Warning: this is long but worths reading if you have trouble synchronizing your Nokia's phone book/addressbook with COMAND APS.
    I have spent hours looking on Mercedes and Nokia forums for my problem and did not find a posted solution. I have now found a solution myself so I decided to post here hoping it will help other people.
    First my issue: I have an E-Class W211 (Apr 2005, UK) with phone pre-wiring, the Mercedes SAP v2 cradle and a Nokia E61i (S60 3rd edition). Till about a week ago the whole was working perfectly: was able to make/receive calls, read/send SMS, synchronize the phone's and SIM contacts to the COMAND, etc.
    About a week ago I upgraded the firmware on my phone to overcome some other (irrelevant to this) issues I had. When I got into my car after the phone's firmware upgrade I naturally needed to pair the phone with the COMAND/SAP Cradle. I did everything according to the manual that came with the SAP v2 Cradle and thought all would be good again. Then, I try to re-sync the COMAND's address book with that of my phone's by following the manual's procedure (dial 0000).
    The synchronization started ok: phone exited Remote SIM mode, got indication "Please Wait" on Comand and phone went into Sync mode. Almost immediately though I get on the phone "System Error" and just the option to press ok. I pressed ok and few seconds later the synchronization process ended, Remote SIM was activated again but phonebook was not loaded to COMAND. I repeated the same process over and over again, removed pairing and went over the whole pairing process from the beginning but still no luck. Unfortunately neither the phone or the COMAND would give any information on what the problem was.
    I checked for many hours on Nokia and Mercedes forums, on Google, etc. but still no luck. I found quite a few people facing the same problem mainly with N95 and E-series phones but no solution. Strange thing was that all were facing the problem from the very first time they tried to transfer their phone's contacts to COMAND while in my case in the past it was working and stopped working after upgrading my phones firmware.
    After hours of trial and error (removed recently installed phone applications, restored old phone backups, etc.) without luck I thought the problem would be the new firmware on my phone. But... I had no way to go back to the old firmware but even if I had I would cause the same issues that the new firmware solved again (so "rolling back" the firmware was not a real option). So I started going through every possible "core" phone setting that could have changed with the firmware upgrade to see what could be wrong and voila: if you go to the Connect->Sync menu on your phone you will see there a sync profile called PC Suite. Select it, click Options, Edit Profile and then, Connection. You will see that one option is Server Version. If selected Server Version is 1.2 underneath there is another option called Server ID. These two (Server Version and Server ID) are what cause the problem. You have the option to edit the PC Suite profile and set Server Version to 1.1 (then Server ID option disappears) and synchronization with COMAND will work. But as you might have side effects with PC Suite in this way, the ideal thing to do is to create a new sync profile, copy the settings from the PC Suite profile (you are prompted for this) and then, go and change this new profile so that Server version is 1.1. That was it (at least in my case) and I hope this will be helpful for others too. I also had Mail For Exchange installed on my mobile and removed it but I don't think this was the issue (will actually re-install MfE on my mobile now).
    Obviously, this Server Version 1.2 option did not exist on the old firmware of my phone so there was nothing to configure and all was working ok seamlessly but when it came out and set as the default by Nokia caused the incompatibility with Mercedes COMAND.

    I was getting very happy with your description of facts, for I recognized them all. However, in my case your solution did not work: I did change back to Server Version 1.1 of the synchronization profile and still get the "System Error" message.
    I have no doubts whatsoever that this happened with the 110.07.127 firmware upgrading.
    Do you have any other clue on how to proceed from here?

  • Exporting: iPhoto won't show all edits and modifications when exporting

    Hi there,
    A problem recently cropped up in my iPhoto album.
    I'm using at 12" PowerBook G4, 1.5GHz, 250GB HD / 1.25GB RAM / OS 10.5.6 / iPhoto 8.0.2 (iPhoto '09). My iPhoto library contains 29,654 photos and 333 movies in 474 events and measures 119.2GB, including content since 1999. It's stored on a LaCie external FireWire drive.
    The problem I'm experiencing is as follows:
    Certain photos, no matter how I export them, be it via the +File -> Export+ command (to +File Export+ or Facebook (having installed the plug-in) or by dragging-and-dropping from iPhoto to the Finder, will not export with all (or sometimes any) of my edits (a.K.a., enhancements,changes or adjustments) made.
    This is to say, for certain photos, I cannot figure out how to get the version of the photo I can see within iPhoto out of iPhoto so it can be shared or used elsewhere.
    These +certain photos+ which won't export properly seem to be ones which have had more extensive editing done to them, specifically having had extensive shadows, highlights, definition or de-noise work done.
    I have searched the Support Discussions and the web for other case and have found a several. Unfortunately, all of the helpful Support Discussions regarding this issue were archived (and closed) before they reached a solution.
    Here is an example of such a case where the various Support Discussions users went to extensive effort to solve the problem but ended without a solution in August of 2008:

    This takes me to a file within a sub-folder of the Modified folder. This is an incorrect version of the photo. Choosing +Show Original File+ from the secondary-click menu takes me to another incorrect version of the file within a sub-folder of the Originals folder, as expected.

    Here I ended up at another incorrect version of the photo, which was in a sub-folder of the Modified folder... I think this is the same file I was directed to when I secondary-clicked and selected +Show File+.

  • SPDD  EHP4 Problems with DDIC modifications from OSS Notes

    we made some ddic modifications (addes some fields to sap-tables accoring to oss-notes, also structures with .INCLUDE).
    now in SPDD the system wants to create an Append Structure and it is impossible to just use the modifications as done accordingly to the oss notes?
    can we accept the append-strucure proposal from spdd or should we throw the modifications away and redo it manually.

    Can you specify where exactly you are facing the problem.
    You would have 2 options now :
    1- Either to retain your modifications - adopt the modification
    2. or overwrite everything by the corrections contained in the new SP - reset to original.
    Both the above steps are independent and you can proceed as per your requirement. Absolutely
    your and your team's choice.

    The user exit is one way to chage standard system behavior (others ways are field exit, screen exit and BAdi.) There are different ways that SAP implements the user exit concept. In your case, in the standard code, you'll find a perform call to forms that I indicate you (USEREXIT_PRICING_RULE (include RV61AFZA) and USEREXIT_PRICING_RULE (include RV61AFZA)).
    These forms are implemented in the includes that your able to change. So your code can only be implemented inside these includes.
    It doesn't provide any side effects?

    In the internal tabel t_beket[] you'll get the data for all Delivery Schedule. In the field beket-eindt you get the delivery date.
    After that, you move the delivery date found in t_beket:
    komk-fbuda = l_data.
    komk-prsdt = l_data.

    But User requested to add SRM Approval Note into Notification mail.
    I searched SAP Notes and notification mail content can be changed by BBP_OFFLINE_APP_BADI. (program: RBBP_NOTIFICATION_OFFAPP)
    But I don't know what method should be changed and How to I have to implemet it on the BADI.

  • Modification in the screen with referenced documents in VA01

    When you are in transaction VA01 and you indicate a material, if this one has outline agreements associated, you can display a list. I would like to add some fields to this structure (LISTVBAP). I made this by se11 but when I try to fill these fields in MV45AFZZ, it doesn't work because the exit is executed before the filling of the structure. Besides, the function that creates the ALV doesn't consider these fields, so I can't see them in the window neither empty.  I checked the others exits and i think none of them works for this. How can I make this modification ?

    The Data for the Popup is handled in internal tables using the structure LISTVBAP. The new fields must be inserted in this structure (modification in data dictionary). The new fields will show in the popup at the position where they are located in the structure.
    For displaying the fields BSTNK and AUDAT, the form routine AUSGABE_LISTE_HINWEIS in include LV45CF0A must be modified. The new fields must be transferred to itab GT_LISTDOCU and in itab LT_FIELDCAT the flag TECH needs to be cleared for the fields to be displayed (coding below).
    The variable KOPFEBENE is set by the calling program and used for varying the popup for different uses, so make your modification according to this.
    For the usage of the popup in VA01 for the use descibed by Yelimar, the supplying of the data is found in include MV45AFDB_VAPMA_SELECT. Modify it to fill the new fields (coding snippet below).
