Syncing 2 iPhones to 1 computer

Hi. My whole family just got new iPhones (now we have 1 original iPhone and 3 3g iPhones). The probably is we only have 3 computers. Is there a way that my mom and dad (who have a 3g and an original one) to sync their iPhones to the same computer without syncing eachother's contacts, photos, notes, and all of that stuff. They might end up sharing SOME music, but not all of the same.
So bottom line: Is there a way to sync TWO iPhones to ONE computer each with it's own information?
THANKS!

The easiest way for them would be to create 2 playlists, one for each of them.
-Mom's iPhone Music
-Dad's iPhone Music
Connect the first iPhone (lets say your mom's) and go to the music syncing options, select sync that playlist only. Now do the same with your dad's and select sync his playlist only. Now your parents can drag/drop and delete music from those playlists without messing with the full library at all. They won't have to worry about getting the wrong stuff or deleting stuff on the other person's iPhone. They just make the changes to their list and hit sync and the changes happen.
Also note, each iPhone (and iPod) syncs independently. You can sync as many as you want with a single computer, you just have to set them up to not conflict with other devices by using different playlists and other methods like that.

Can I sync iphone with another computer?

If you do, you will lose all of your information on the phone. You can only sync to 1 itunes library at a time on 1 computer.

  • Syncing iPhone with new computer

Please help and bear with me. I have read many similar threads but have found none that seem to match my situation. My old computer was unstable so I restored it to original settings. It created a backup file of my stuff. It still was trouble so i'm done with it. I now have a new computer. I'm trying to sync my iphone 3gs with it and of course it wants to erase every thing as it can't find the files and iTunes libraries etc. In my old computer's windows created backup file I have an itunes folder. It has several dated library files and about 1.3 gb of stuff. I have many contacts and pics/videos from the camera on it that I want to save. I could care less about the music. There is not much there as I have a seperate ipod synced with a diferent computer for my music. I just want to keep what is on my iPhone currently and back it up and save on my new laptop. I do not have the icloud. My phone is currently on ver. 4.2.1 and has 7 gb of stuff on it.
Thanks in advnce for pointing me in the right direction.

I had the same problem. I decided to erase my drive and instill 10.5 and all of my apps fresh. What I did to keep my contacts and calendars is something I've done often in the past when restoring from backups.
This only works if you have a backup of your previous user folder. Go to your user folder, then the library folder. You should see a folder called calendar, move those files into the user/library/calendar folder in the new computer/system.
Do the same for your address book contacts. You will find those in user/library/application support/addressbook
You can do this for a number of other applications. I have done this for years with my the support data for web browsers (saved passwords, address).
You might also try this since itunes just asked me (and if you don't have a copy of your old user folder). Make sure that you check sync calendars/contacts in the iphone section in itunes. After I did that, it just asked me if I wanted to replace the information on the phone on merge its info with the new computer... That might make the process above unnecessary.

  • What all information will i loose if I sync iPhone with another computer?

    Hey,
Just wanted to understand what all information will i loose if i sync my iphone with another computer?
will i loose my contacts and messages?

Syncing your iPhone with iTunes on another computer will not erase all data on your iPhone. SMS/MMS will not be touched, photos/video in your iPhone's Camera Roll, the same for notes, email accounts, and iPhone settings.
In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced or manually managed with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first with a warning message provided indicating this will happen.
You can sync contacts, calendar events, and Safari bookmarks with the supported applications on multiple computers.
You can transfer iTunes content and photos from one computer along with syncing contacts, calendar events, and Safari bookmarks with the supported applications.
When connecting your iPhone to iTunes on another computer, you will be provided a warning message that your iPhone has been synced with iTunes on another computer. If you don't select to transfer any iTunes content or photos from another computer, no iTunes content and photos that were transferred from a different computer will be erased from your iPhone. If you select to sync contacts, calendar events, and Safari bookmarks only with the supported applications on another computer, only this data will be touched on your iPhone.

Frequently : I sync iphone with my laptop
My problem : When I want to sync with desktop, Itunes want to erase data & restore with itunes (desktop),
How do I make this 2 location itunes with a single data.
TQ & sorry for pour English.

How do I make this 2 location itunes with a single data.
You can't, as this has never been a feature of any iPhone. By design, iPhone syncs or manually manages iTunes content with ONE computer at a time. Any attempt to sync or manually manage iTunes content with a second computer will result in ALL iTunes content being first erased from your phone, to be replaced with the content from the second computer. Pick one computer & stick with that computer.

My laptop I use to sync my iphone is out of order at present.i need to sync my iphone on another computer, how do i go about this

What are you trying to sync. The iPhone is designed to sync with a single computer and any attempt to sync to another one will result in the data on the phone being deleted.

  • Sync iphone to mac computer using OSX 10.6

    Hello group,
I have recently aquired a MiniMac computer and would like to sync my contacts from my IPhone 4S to it. The Mac is an older model with 120GB HHD and 2MB ram, running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  I called Apple and the tech advised against upgrading my OS to Lion, which would allow me to use iCloud.
HELP! How can I manually transfer my iPhone contents to my computer?

See Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive. (If you're only concerned about getting your contacts on your Mac, you could use an app like My Contacts Backup to back up your contacts on your phone and email them to your Mac.  Then open the email and double-click the attachment to import the contacts.)

    ipod still works
have tried reset on phone and unstalled itunes on computer still unable to see phone on computer

The iTunes library stores music, movies, tv shows, podcasts, and 3rd party apps.
The iTunes library does not store 3rd party app data, email account mailboxes and messages, notes, and photos. The iPhone's backup stores 3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app, email account settings - not email account mailboxes and messages, notes, and photos and videos in the iPhone's Camera Roll.
This link provides the data that is included with the iPhone's backup.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
All photos transferred from your computer should remain on your computer and be included with your computer's backup along with all other important data. Photos transferred from your computer are not included with the iPhone's backup and are not stored in the iTunes library. iTunes serves as the transfer conduit only for selected photos on your computer to be transferred to your iPhone. Photos transferred from your computer are optimized for viewing on your iPhone - the original resolution of these photos is reduced on your iPhone, which is why transferring these photos in the opposite direction is not supported.

Do I erase pics after I sync iPhone with my computer

No.  If you don't want the photos on your phone any longer, be sure to import them to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 first.  Once imported to your computer you can delete them if you want.

  • Sync iPhone with new computer (w/o access to old computer)

    I'll make this quick!
Helping a friend of mine sync her iPhone to a new computer. She wants all the info on her iPhone to stay on her iPhone after the sync on the new computer. Problem is, iTunes wants to erase and restore her iPhone (because its a new computer).
The concern here is not about her music, but actually, she just doesn't want to lose her text messages, contacts, etc. from off the phone. What can I do to get her iPhone syncing with her new computer, while retaining all the info she's got on it?
    Thanks.

You just have to set your preferences in iTunes.
You can choose not to delete contacts etc from the iPhone. After you connect the iPhone, click on the iPhone icon that shows up in iTunes, and go to the appropriate tab, and check / uncheck what you want or don't want.
I don't think text messages get deleted or changed.

  • Can u use itunes match to sync iphone with new computer

can you use itunesmatch to sync iphone music and pictures to new computer

You can use iTunes Match to make your iTunes library available on another computer, to either play or download the music to it.  But iTunes Match doesn't have anything to do with pictures and other data, and it doesn't sync your iPhone with your computer.
If you are changing computers and have previously syncing your phone with another computer, you should copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the music) from your old computer to your new one using one of the methods explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4527.  That will allow you to sync your phone with your new computer just as you did with your old one.

  • How do i sync iphone with new computer when old computer is unavailable?

I want my iphone content on itunes on a new computer.  My old computer crashed and is unavailable.

No backup is a big mistake.
If you sync iphone to a blank computer, then the current content will be erased.
The iphone is not a backup device.
The music and pics sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases:  File>Transfer Purchases
You can e-mail the pics to yourself.  They will never be of the original resolution.
If you enter one unique contact and calendar item, then you should get the option to merge the data when you first sync.
