Syncing 2 iPhones to same Macbook pro

I have a Macbook pro running OSX (10.6.8) and both my wife and I have iPhones (3 and 4). Is there a way to sync both to iTunes and keep the data separate (we both have different contact lists, etc.)?

Each device has its own sync preferences with iTunes in regards to music, movies, tv shows, podcasts, apps, photos, tones, etc., but if each iPhone syncs contacts with the same address book app, then contacts will be the same on each device with an exception. When syncing contacts direct with the Address Book for each device, you have the option to sync select Address Book Groups only. The contacts on each device will be available in the Address Book on your Mac, but the contacts do not need to be the same on each iPhone.

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

  • IMessage sync iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro

For some reason iMessage no longer syncs between my iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro.  How do I re-sync them?
    Thanks!

    Hey there David,
If you are still not receiving your iMessages between all your ios devices, I recommend the following section of this article:
iOS: Troubleshooting Messages - Apple Support
If you aren't receiving iMessages across all iOS devices
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive on each iOS device and make sure that you signed in with your Apple ID. You must use the same Apple ID on each device.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You Can Be Reached By iMessage At and make sure that you selected each phone number and email address you want to use with iMessage.
If you linked a phone number to your Apple ID with iMessage and the phone number hasn't appeared, follow these steps.
Sign out of your Apple ID in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and Settings > FaceTime on all devices.
If you're linking a phone number to an Apple ID, sign in to iMessage on your iPhone first. Then sign in to the rest of your device one by one with iMessage and FaceTime.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Synced iphone with my macbook pro, can find the voice memos, help!!

i synced my iphone with my macbook pro, checked the voice memos option and after syncing was complete (it backed up iphone in the process), i didn't see any new playlist called voice memos on my itunes!! did i lose my voice memos? where did they go? i didn't delete anything from either the phone or the computer.TIA!! on the phone, i don't see the memos too!! anyone has any idea?

iTunes automatically syncs voice memos to your iTunes library when you connect iPhone to your computer. Voice memos are synced to the Voice Memos playlist. iTunes creates the playlist if it doesn’t exist. When you sync voice memos to iTunes, they remain in the Voice Memos application until you delete them. If you delete a voice memo on iPhone, it isn’t deleted from the Voice Memos playlist in iTunes. However, if you delete a voice memo from iTunes, it is deleted from iPhone the next time you sync with iTunes.
You can sync the iTunes Voice Memos playlist to the iPod application on iPhone using the Music pane in iTunes.
To Sync the Voice Memos playlist to iPhone:
    1. Connect iPhone to your computer.
    2. In iTunes, select iPhone in the sidebar.
    3. Select the Music tab.
    4. Select the “Include voice memos” checkbox and click Apply.

  • ITunes error message when syncing iPhone 5 w/MacBook Pro

I have been syncing my iPhone 5 (32GB) with my MacBook Pro for 2.5 years and still had about 2-3GB empty (I know, should allow more free space).  Suddenly, having added nothing except maybe a couple new events in Calendar, I'm getting an iTunes message when I try to sync saying that it cannot sync as there isn't enough memory -- with a note in parentheses that an additional 13+GB are needed).  I thought I'd seen this addressed here before, but in searching for an answer, I wasn't able to pull anything up.
I have shut down my computer and rebooted several times, but doesn't change anything.  Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm having the same problem, except I used to have 12 GB of music on my iPhone that is now gone, and the same disc space now says "Other", but there is no music on the iPod. I've tried the 5 R's, is it a glitch? I didn't have this problem until I updated yesterday. Everytime I sync, it tells me there is not enough space to download the music. What is the "Other" category? I can't find any info on it at all. Also, I am NOT a computer guru, I'm a nurse, so be gentle!

  • Sync iPhone, iPad and Macbook Pro contacts

    Hello.
Everytime I sync my 3 Apple devices (iPhone 4, iPad 2 and Macbook Pro), I get the same contact 3 or 4 times at my iPhone...
By other way, I want that the iPad and Macbook Pro can have the same contacts as iPhone, because I update my contacts at iPhone everyday. So, the iPad and Macbook Pro must get the iPhone contacts and not the contrary.
Can you help me on this, please?
    Regards
    Luis Antunes

Well I answered my own question.  I just deactivated all the other accounts on my iPhone except iCloud, and all the duplicates disappeared.  Before I did this, I merged duplciate cards on the MacBook Pro (from the Contacts Card menu selection).  iCloud needs to be selected as the default account on all your devices, and it seems that other accounts need to be deactivated.  Be careful - deactivating an account also erases entries associated with only that account.

  • Help syncing iphone to new MacBook Pro

I got a MacBook Pro for Christmas, and I need help syncing my iPhone to it without losing my pictures, contacts, and music. I already wirelessly shared my iTunes library to from my old mac to the new one. Is there a way to sync my phone to the new computer and transfer my pictures and contacts and the rest of the stuff on my phone to it without losing it all? Or since I wirelessly shared my iTunes library, will my back up still be available?

There is no phone number for itunes store support.
Just copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to the new one.
You can also transfer itunes purchases from the iphone to the computer.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases

I want to sync my notes between my Iphone 3GS and my Macbook Pro. Right now when I add a note in my Iphone it automatically is added in my mail account in the Macbook.
However, if I add a note in the Macbook, it does not get added to my Iphone.
I'd like it to go both ways. Is this possible?
    Thanks!

The issue is with configuring your iPhone. I personally gave up trying to make it work.

  • Syncing iphone calendar to macbook pro

how do I sync my iphone 5 calendar to my macbook pro?

    Hi Lelemarie,
You can either sync with iTunes, or with iCloud.  To sync with iTunes:
iOS: Syncing your data with iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386
If you want to sync with iCloud, this page goes over the features and there is a link for setup instructions at the bottom:

    Hello,
I have a brand new MacBook Pro 13 inch. I connect my iPhone but iTunes is not recognizing it. I am using OS X 10.6 with iOS 4 on the iPhone. I am using iTunes 9.2. Thanks for any ideas.

    Hi,
they only mention Vista as the latest Windows OS they support.
And from '...I recently purchased' I assume you have Windows 7 installed.
Maybe Nymgo isn't Windows7 -ready yet.
Have you asked their support ?

  • Syncing iPhone with reformatted MacBook Pro

I had to reformat my Mac due to a File Vault issue. When I plug in my iPhone into the Mac, there are no syncing actions.
How can I safely get my contacts from my iPhone onto my Mac?
    Thank you!

Never mind...I answered my own question For those of you who have to deal with this, go into iTunes, under iPhone, and then choose what you want to sync. You can completely replace the info on your phone or add the iPhone data to your calendar.
Now...how do I back up the info on my computer? Anyone?

I have an iMac, an iPhone, and a MacBook Pro.  My full iTunes library is on the iMac and iPhone, but only a handful of songs are on my MacBook.  They are all associated with the same Apple ID.  When I try to sync, I get a warning message stating that I will lose songs on my phone which aren't on the laptop.  How transfer my music from my phone to the laptop?

    Hey kbert73
I would do a transfer of purchases from the phone and not sync. If you sync then it will want to start over and sync music that is on the MacBook Pro. If you want to transfer the music, check out the article below that will give you multiple options on how to move. I have also provided on how to sync with multiple computers.
