  • Sync 2 iPhones with 1 PC using Outlook 2003

    Hey all,
My wife just bought an iPhone and now we have two that need to be synched to the one PC running XP and Outlook 2003.
Is there any way to sync separate contact lists and separate calendars using Outlook 2003 on a PC without creating a second user account?
I have scoured the web looking for options and could only find two solutions:
_1. Create a separate user account_ for my wife and sync the phone with that account. (Problem here is that I know someone may accidently synch her phone with my account. Also, it is a hassle having to choose a user account everytime you boot up the PC).
    or...
_2. Make "Contact Groups"_ (which I believe is only available in Outlook 2007) and select them when setting my synch options in iTunes. (Problem here is I have to upgrade my software - trying to avoid spending any more $$ for the moment!)
I realise this is probably more of a PC question but I thought I would try posting here as well.
I am sure most of you will just say "Go and buy a Mac!"
Thanks in advance for any assistance,
    Gyoza

    Thanks for the reply.
I have now ditched Outlook all together and have set up two Google accounts instead.
This way there is no need to synch with the PC at all. Just synch via the cloud.
    Yay problem solved.

  • HT1386 When I sync my Iphone with Itunes, my Microsoft Outlook calendar on my computer does not sync to my Iphone.  What can I do?

I used to be able to sync my Outlook calendar with my Iphone calendar, but the last few times I tried it did not sync.  Help!

Anything.  It completes three steps only and when I see the backup in the summary info it reads from yesterday, not today.  I also just bought a new mac and updated to IOS 6, so not sure if that has something to do with it.

  • Hi, From where can I download a copy of iTunes 10.7, so I can again sync my iPhone with Ms.Outlook?

    Hi,
I did an "upgrade" to the obviously beta version of iTunes 11, which when attempting to sync an iPhone with Ms.Outlook, displays the message, "iTunes could not sync calendars ..."
Only iTunes changed - nothing else, so it seems pretty obvious that the defect is in iTunes 11.
I hope that returning to a fully functional version of iTunes (that is, 10.7) will restore sync capability.
Does anyone know of a cache location or someone who could e-mail me a copy?
    Thanks.

I had the exact same thing.  Apple level 2 senior tech advisors and senior engineers apparently clueless about this. I spent over 7 hours last week with Apple tech support and they still have not gotten back to me with any info.  I generated and sent them all my logs, etc.  What a waste --  they should know about this. This is what I did, and it works:
It works also in Windows XP (maybe also Vista and 7)
        1.Click on Start button.
2.Type Cmd in the Start Search box.
        3. right-click cmd.exe, click Run as administrator, and then press Continue.
        4. Type netsh winsock reset and then press the Enter.
        5. Restart the computer.
I can't take credit for the fix --- I found it by doing a Yahoo search and found this link

  • Syncing my iPhone with Outlook

I have now lost my contacts for a 3rd time syncing my iphone with my laptop. I did so in order to get the 4.2 update for it and to attempt to save my hard fought business and family contacts.
I don't know if this is an issue to do with using Microsoft software with an Apple product, but as a consumer - I just don't give a ****. At this stage in the game, the two should be able to play nice and keep your issues in the courts and away from my data. Here is another suggestion - use the write terms to describe what is being done. Example - merge. Here is the definition of the word merge:
merge – verb (used with object)
1.to cause to combine or coalesce; unite.
2.to combine, blend, or unite gradually so as to blur the individuality or individual identity of: They voted to merge the two branch offices into a single unit.
    –verb (used without object)
3.to become combined, united, swallowed up, or absorbed; lose identity by uniting or blending (often fol. by in or into ): This stream merges into the river up ahead.
4.to combine or unite into a single enterprise, organization, body, etc.: The two firms merged last year.
Nowhere in this definition does it say that at the end of the merging - you should have less, certainly not significantly less than when the process started. I would expect duplications, I would also expect error messages as in the old mail merge process of Word 5.0 where you would lose data if a tab or comma was missing. But at the end of this merge in iTunes, the result is always some random loss of data that is impossible to establish any kind of rules. Did I lose the data because there was a duplicate on my laptop, because the fields were different? Why would I start with 600 contacts in my phone, 100 on my laptop - merge the two and end up with 90? Please someone explain how a merge could result in less, significantly less? How is that 600 + 90 = 120? ***!!!! I can live with the iphone not having java - I can just avoid videos, but now it can't add?
Bottom line, can you please put your R & D department, your developers and engineers together and give them a basic vocabulary lesson. Merge means add - not subtract. Obviously this is an issue that has befuddled many before me and will continue to frustrate many more because is yet to be answered on this forum.

  • I am syncing my iPhone with microsoft outlook.

I am syncing my iPhone with microsoft outlook 2003.  Prior to my last sync my wife sync'd her iPad.  When I sync'd my iPhone my notes where removed
and my wifes notes were copied.  Where can I find a copy of the notes that were removed??  I have a PC.
    Thank-you,

It's probably the fact that you have iTunes set to sync calendars as well as having iCloud sync them.  Turn off calendar syncing in iTunes.

how do i sync my iphone with outlook for mac 2011 calendar?

Here are some instructions from Microsoft:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2452489
Alternatively, depending on where the data in Outlook is coming from, you could set up your phone to sync to the same account that Outlook is syncing with.  For example, my Outlook 2011 and my iPhone both sync to my work Exchange account, so I have that same calendar in both places.

No problem with the imac G5 but tower Power PC allows only the initial sync (ie after erasing all contacts and events in my phone and reseting device in bluetooth syst pref and in isync).
For the following syncings I always get the same message.
[K800i] Connection to the phone failed.
Please make sure that your phone is turned on. If this error occurs again, please restart your phone.
Restarting my phone does not help.
    Anyone an idea?

  • Syncing an iPhone with PC Outlook

I have a BlackBerry and am thinking of getting an iPhone when my contract is up. Does iCloud really work well as a means to sync the iPhone with Outlook email, contacts and calendar? BBerry works so well I am very conflicted. I also have a PlayBook. Will iCloud sync my stuff with it, too?

Well I am not sure why this is happening because if you have checked sync all calendars, any appointment on any calendar should be in outlook.   Check to see that you have indeed checked "sync all calendars" and not just sync a work calendar or a birthday calendar or something like that.
I am a Mac person now and I cannot remember how you check your sync settings on a PC to make sure you have elected that the syncing of calendar goes both ways from and to iPhone and Outlook.  Perhaps another PC person on the forum can advise us how to do this on a PC.  If I have a little time  later I will see if we have had this help and if not, I will research the Apple KB for you.  I am sorry that I have no time to do that right now.

I suggest that no response is made to this duplicate thread.

I really don't appreciate the fact that no one from Apple seems to be dealing with the many, many threads that have started on this topic since iOS 7 came out. In any event, I seem to have solved my problem with a full software restoration -- that is, iOS software restoration.
I clicked on "Restore iPhone..." which does a complete reinstall of the iOS but also all apps, photos, songs, etc. Took about 45 minutes, but seems to have worked.
I had previously tried reverting to a backup of my iPhone, but that did not solve the problem. Only a full restore solved it.

  • Can no one help? Sync'ing iPhone with a new computer after crash on old PC

    Hi all,
I'm hoping any lack of response was because you were taking time off at Christmas and not that I defeated the best of the bests.
Hopefully your reply is simply a case of saying 'YES!' to the steps below.
Here's a sort of potted timeline history as to what has occurred:
My iPhone 3GS was backed up via sync to 2 different location PCs.
The main location was here at 'home' where I managed my Music Library and Apps on a Vista based laptop.
My 'Work' PC simply dealt with sync of Contacts with a folder in Outlook.
The home PC was backed up fully typically once a fortnight.
A few weeks ago, my home PC had a catastrophic failure and it is clear I can't recover from the HDD.
I restored the key folders from the backup to a 'from backup' folder on the new PC and not the same folder structure as it has Windows 7.
From this folder I moved the entire contents of my music folder into Windows 7's music folder (and there is a sub-folder in there called 'itunes').
So, after reading a couple of threads, bizarrely enough, this one on iPad seems the nearest scenario to mine http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11527315
user, 'virtualgeo' summarises neatly the steps of sync'ing so I guess this would figure the same here but with an iPhone?
I'veinstalled the latest iTunes on my new PC and I'm ecstatic to see all my music and apps appear on running up iTunes for the first time.
I've gone to Edit>Preferences>Devices and checked the box next to "Prevent your iPod from automatically syncing" (However I see no previous backups being shown in this window. Is it worth recovering this from my backup?)
I've also authorised the new computer successfully.
So I was going to continue following virtualgeo's steps in the thread but not sync'ing contacts if that looks sensible?
Anything else I should do before connecting my iPhone to iTunes?
And out of interest, should I be backing up my iTunes separately to my PC backup?
    Many thanks in advance!

Well I forget the exact keys, but believe pressing and holding down CTRL before clicking Restore will allow you to browse and find the backup file (may be wrong).
In the end, as far as the iPhone thinks, it is a new computer so it will erase and resync stuff and as long as you loaded everything back into iTunes all should sync back. Main issue is other stuff like the data within the apps, notes, etc that are part of the backup which is why you would want to try to restore from the backup. If you don't mind losing data in apps (eg: do you care you have to relog into some apps and start over, don't care about game scores, etc) then you don't have to worry about the backup. If you have important data in some of those apps then you will need to restore from the backup.
