Syncing a MINI with my MacBook Pro-13"

After some nightmare problems with my MacBook Pro-13" (likely software but that's not certain yet) - things like the cursor freezing, the internet dropping-out and not-waking from sleep - I realize I need a second Intel Mac to keep my sanity and as a backup. Sure, I have daily bootable SuperDuper! backups; and also I have a weekly one-- but if my MBP hardware fails...
I use the computer essentially daily (hourly?!) for everything from banking to eMailing to SKYPEing etc.
So if I get a MINI -(or another MBP or an iMac) then how will I be able to make sure that my eMail (some is pop; plus my MobileMe as IMAP) - and my banking (offline - storeage on my Mac) and everything else can be made identical on the MPB and the MINI?
I want to be able to try-out programs on one Mac (say the MacBook Pro) and then if they don't cause problems, either sync that to the MINI or download and install on the MINI. (Shareware etc.)
How easy is this going to be to do? Ideally if one of the 2 computers would fail or get stolen, I'd have the other 99 44/100% identical so that my life could go on...
Thanks for any suggestions - I have a Mobile Me account - and extra HD's could be obtained if needed!
Regards,
Steve

ANOTHER unanswered post - really strange that recently I get few replies to my posts... Questions must be too specific and not a concern to other or just not an issue they are seeing. OK Solved, even if not...

When I sync my phone with my macbook pro, there are "3,307 items that could not be synced". What do I do?

What you should do is figure out why no songs will sync:
Is there an Apple ID problem?  That's the most likely reason.  Maybe you haven't signed in to your Apple ID on iTunes.  Maybe the Apple ID on your computer differs from that on your iPhone.
Have you been syncing your iPhone to some other computer?  It only syncs to one computer.
Are you using the latest iTunes?  The current version is 11.0.5.

  • I am attempting to re sync my iPad2 with my macbook pro iTunes and i get all the way to where it tells me to connect to iTunes...which my iTunes on my macbook sees as connected, yet my iPad still tells me to connect to iTunes...

Your iPad is going to show "Connect to iTunes" screen until you either set it up successfully or restore it. If you've already set your iPad up in the past, "Connect to iTunes" typically indicates the iPad is in Recovery Mode and you must restore it.

Not if it's not the original computer you registered it on.

  • I can not sync my phone with this Macbook Pro

I had a nasty suprise I paid out over £1500.00 to be told that I can not sync my phone with this Macbook Pro.
the reason for buying a Mac is that the windows 7 machine is in little bits so how do I sync that.  there is no music on this Mac pro and if I try to sync my phone it wants to wipe my phone That is Pants!
    <Re-Titled by Host>

    FTFY (for readability):
"I had a nasty surprise, when after having paid out over £1500.00, I learned that I am unable to sync my phone (unidentified model) with my new MacBook Pro (unidentified model).
The reason I bought the Mac was due to the fact that my former computer, a Windows 7 machine, has been damaged beyond repair.
There is no music currently loaded onto my new Mac, and when I try to sync the data on my Mac to my phone (unidentified model) I am prompted with a warning that my phone data will be wiped clean. This is not good!"
Okay, so I'm just being a little cheeky here - no offense intended.
Details are always best when seeking assistance, however. Try not to make others do the work for you. Take the time to do it yourself.
What model of Mac do you have?
What version of OSX are you using?
What version of iTunes are you using for syncing purposes?
What model of phone are you using and what software version is installed on it?
Try to better articulate the steps you are performing and the warnings that you are encountering.
    Best of luck.

  • My IPhone 4S no longer updates my calendar when I sync my phone with my MacBook Pro.

My IPhone 4S no longer updates my caldendar when I sync my phone to my MacBook Pro.

Were you syncing over USB? If so, and you upgraded to Mavericks, you will have to switch your calendar to iCloud or another cloud-based option.
Syncing over USB is no longer an option in Mavericks.

  • Is there a way to sync contacts iPhone with my macbook pro

Is there a way to sync contacts iPhone with my macbook pro

    Yes.
    1) With iTunes and an USB cable.
    2) Using MobileMe over the air. (I think it's replaced by iCloud soon [5th Oct.])
I would just wait and create an iCloud account when it's released.

  • Running Mac Mini with a MacBook Pro?

Is it possible to run a Mac Mini using a MacBook Pro keyboard and display? Essentially using the keyboard and display of the MacBook to run the Mini as a normal desktop setup? I would be looking to use the Mini in Boot camp mode to run Windows and do not want to install Windows on my MacBook. Thanks for any tips.

You can remotely control most computers via software (generically) called VNC (Virtual Network Computing). The connection between the computers would preferably be via an ethernet cable.
While this can be easily set up in a Leopard-to-Leopard environment (in Leopard it is called "screen sharing"), it should also be possible in a Leopard (or Tiger) to Windows environment.
Using VNC, you should not expect the remote computer to be as responsive as using a real keyboard, mouse, and monitor directly connected to it.
You will also (temporarily) need a real keyboard, mouse, and monitor to configure the Mini initially.

  • Syncing an Mac Mini with a Macbook Pro Over Wifi

I'm setting up my new office and I've got a Mac Mini I've had for several years and a Macbook Pro that I use at home.  I travel quite a bit and it would be really nice to have my Mac Mini and my Macbook synced.
I'd like to work all day on my Mac Mini, then when I get home, be able to experience the exact same desktop on my Macbook as I had on my Mac Mini.
Is there a way to get the two syncing to the same backup?  That way if I edit a document at the office, I can back the computer up, go home, sync my Macbook and continue working on that same document.  I could then back it up and in the morning, again continue my work on the Mac Mini.
Currently I'm taking my Macbook Pro back and forth.  It's really getting worn out with all the travel.

Use SugarSync (you can sync any folders, or all of them)

  • How do I sync my Iphone with my MacBook Pro with a reformatted hard drive?

My MacBook Pro hard drive crashed. I rebooted from the Mac OS X install DVD. Now, my itunes is empty. When I tried to sync my iPhone 4, it states that it will erase everything on my phone and replace it with the items in itunes (which is empty). What do I do?

  • I can't sync my iPhone with my macbook pro?

its a long story but what happened was a few months ago in June of 2014 I found out my macbook pro had a virus. I have had my mac for almost a year before June so I had synced my iPhone which was running 7.0.6 and still is since I haven't updated my iPhone to iOS 8. So the only way to get rid of the virus I had to erase my entire mac. I basically returned it to factory settings. I lost all my data. Lucky I saved some of my data on an external hard drive. Now fast forward to today Nov 27 and I had downloaded music from iTunes on the same iPhone and i wanted to sync my music on iTunes and my mac is running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 and it says that my iPhone 5s is synced with another computer but in reality its the same computer its just I restarted my mac to factory settings. I've tried going online to see if there's a way to bypass it and trick my iPhone into thinking its syncing the with the same iTunes cause thats the reason it won't sync with two computers but my problem is I'm using the same mac and i can't find a way to fix my problem. PLEASE HELP ME.

Can you be a little more specific? Do you mean you have set the sync options on the Device pages, Clicked Sync and it does not work, or you can't find the sync pages.
