Syncing albums from iPhoto to iPhone doesn't get complete albums

I am trying to sync an albums from iPhoto on a Macbook Pro to an iPhone 4 and I'm running into a problem where some albums are only partially transferred to the iPhone. Eg, there's an album in iPhoto that contains 9 images, and iTunes shows me that count, but when I (directly through USB cable) hook up the iPhone and sync, only one of them appears in the corresponding album on the iPhone. I think I understand the procedure, and I've pulled the images out of the Photostream to build the album, but can anyone think of why on some albums but not all, not all images in the iPhoto version of the album get transferred?

I do know there are different types of jpegs, exactly how or if that affects whether you can use them with a mobile I'm not sure. Use iPhoto to see if you can see some obvious differences between the photos.
All the photos are selected for sharing from the advanced menu I presume.

  • Sync Photos from Iphoto to Iphone 3GS

Hello I'll really appreciate your help:
When I try to sync mi iphone, if i have the sync photos from iphoto feature activated in itunes it shows, at the end of the sync the error message (The sync could not be completed because an unknown error -50) and the photos doesn't appear in the iphone, even when the files have been transferred. I've tried rebooting and even restoring the iphone and the problem persists, I was using this feature without any problems and it begin to happen a few days ago without any particular reason.
    Thank you!!!

I just saw this error -50 on my old click-wheel ipod tonight.
To fix it. I plugged in the ipod. On the ipod setting tabs, click on Photos.
Change it so no photos are synced.
Then change it back and browse to a new photo folder.
Also you can try using Windows explorer to delete the sub-folder

  • Video syncing errors from iPhoto to iPhone via iTunes

I recently took 50 or so video or pictures on my iPhone 5 while on vacation. Once home, I synced them into iPhoto like I always do, and deleted the files after import. I then synced my phone with iTunes, where (in the photos section) I choose to sync all events from the past 12 months, with the 'Include Videos' checkbox checked. This is how I've done things up to now, and its always worked.
However, this time, two of the videos will not sync back to my phone. I get an iTunes error saying that they are not in the correct format. This is bizarre, since several videos taken before, between, and after them sync fine. The 2 videos are not exceptionally long or short compared to others that sync successfully.
Has anyone seen a trick or workaround to make iTunes sync these videos?

    Thanks again TD
I will check on the formating when I get home, I am pretty sure that I haven't used any no-ascii characters, but will double check.
Before I download iphoto library manager, I just wanted to report an interesting experiment that I tried last night that may point in a different direction:
I keep my iphoto library on a second internal HD, so I thought I would just try making a complete copy of my iphoto library onto my desktop. Once I did this, I started up iPhoto with alt and choose the desktop version of the library and all worked perfectly, my iphoto albums showed instantly in my photo tab in itunes when I selected to sync with iphoto.
My next move was to rename my old library and then copy my desktop version into the folder where the old library is. Once I did this the problem was back again.
I have no reason to believe that it is the second disc that is causing the problem, as that is where I have always kept my itunes and iphoto libraries and they have worked without problem.
(As I am writing this, it dawned upon me that I missed one important test, I should have tried the old library after I had renamed it, but stil in the same place.)
I am now suspecting that the problem may be linked to an external drive that I addded to the system at Christmas. This was a WD My Book which I use for backup, the link being that I use the software that came with it to do autobackups that includes my iphoto library folder. I am wondering if this software does something to the folder.
    Thoughts welcome.

  • Can't sync movie from iPhoto to iPhone

I tried to find a discussion of this, but couldn't see an answer. (Maybe there isn't one.)
I have some AVI movies in iPhoto. I'd like to sync them to my iPhone. I think I did so many months ago, but can't replicate now.
I tried dragging from iPhoto to iTunes. No luck. I tried dragging to "movies': no luck. I tried exporting from iPhoto: it seemed to work, but couldn't find the movie on iTunes.

I think the movies have to be able to play in iTunes before you can view them on an iPhone.
AVI is just a "wrapper" that can contain movies with many different codecs. Not all of them are viewable in iTunes. Many of the AVI's that I get can't play in Quicktime and I use VLC and I've added Perian and Flip4Mac to be able to play them at all. These codecs aren't available on the iPhone so the movies have to be in just the right format to work.
There are many programs (looks like dozens) that can convert AVI's to be playable in iTunes. There are companies like Aimersoft, Xilisoft that sell programs that will do all sorts of conversions and optimizations for iPod/iPhone video.
Here's a tutorial that uses Free methods: http://news.metaparadigma.de/?p=48
Handbrake (free) is also supposed to be good for the job, but I don't use it anymore: http://handbrake.fr/
    Hope this helps.

  • Sync photos from iPhotos to iPhone

Can someone help me please? I would like to sync specific photos from my iPhoto to my iPhone, however the Photos tab in iTune doesn't have that feature - when you check the box "Selected albums" it only gives me the choice of: "Last Import" or "Last 12 months". How do I tell it I want to be MORE specific???
    Thank you so much!
    Lilly

You have to set up an album in iphoto to be able to see it in the photo pane in itunes in order to sync.
Move the desired pictures into the album, go to itunes and select the album and sync.

  • How do I upload / sync movie from iPhoto to iPhone in Photos folder

I shot a short clip from my digital camera and want to share it with family through Whatsapp on my iPhone 3GS.
I downloaded the movie (.AVI extension) to iPhoto on my Macbook Pro, saved a copy on the Desktop; and using Quicktime's export feature, was able to transfer a .m4v version of the video on the 'Videos' folder of iOS. However, since Whatsapp picks up content only from the 'Photos' app, I was looking for a mechanism through which the video (preferably .AVI format) can be transfered to the 'Photos' app.
Additionally, I created a separate album on iPhoto containing just this clip. Next I tried to sync this album to my iPhone with the 'include videos' checkbox ticked, but it does not copy the video to Photos on iPhone (tried doing the same with some photos and it is working just fine).
Request if someone can provide an easy solution for this.
    Regards,
    Prashrash.
P.S.: Since I am a newbie, apologize in advance for any forum rules that I might have broken. Happy to be corrected / informed on the same.
BTW, have done a basic search on the articles existing in the forums to try and find an answer before posting my question. Mostly have seen many nays on older / archived posts, and hence am posting afresh once again in the hope that with the newer versions of iPhoto / iTunes, something has hopefully changed that will make my task easy! <fingers crossed>

    Hello prashrash
Because when you sync a video that you have converted, it will want to go in the Videos app. A way to get around that is to email the video to yourself if the video size is small enough to send through email. Once you have received it you should be able to save it to your Camera Roll and then be able to access like you normally would.
Save a photo or video you received in Mail.

  • Syncing photos from iPhoto to iPhone

Selected albums only offers 3 options 1) last import, 2) last 12 months and 3) iPhone.
I tried resetting sync, but that didn't work. Any thoughts?

    jl klein,
Do you mean you reset the sync history? If not, it's a good step to try:
Resetting the sync history on your computer
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iSync/2.0/en/isc39.html
If that doesn't resolve the issue, if you create a new album in iTunes, does that appear?
    Hope this helps,

  • Sync notes from iPad to iPhone doesn't work.

I have iPad 2 for about a year.  It has 14 Notes in it.  Yesterday I got an iPhone5 and everything sync'd EXCEPT Notes.
Only 4 of the notes sync to iCloud and transferred to iPhone.  The others didn't.  I even modified every single note and tried again, only the 4 notes sync'd.
In iPad Notes settings (and also on the Notes app) I discovered there is a "Default Account" and the 4 notes that sync to iCloud & iPhone have an account set to iCloud but the other notes that won't are all listed as "On My iPad".  I presume this is the source of my sync problem.
There is no similar setting on the iPhone regarding a Default Account on the Notes app or settings for the Notes app.
I see lots of discussion about Note sync problems but nothing specifically as I describe regarding changing the default acct.
How do I fix this?  I tried setting Default acct iCloud, modifying the notes after this change but only the same 4 Notes sync to iCloud.
    Thanks, Jon

For the record, I copied Notes that didn't sync into an email and sent to iPhone.  Copied notes from the emails into new note on iPhone.  then deleted Note from iPad that were in the "on my iPad" account and now they seem to sync ok.
Fortunately I only had to do this for a few Notes.  This solution is a real kludge and with all the complaints from other users about syncing I am astonished Apple hasn't published a solution.

  • Can't sync videos from iPhoto to iPhone

My pictures sync fine, but can't get the videos I shot with my camera to sync to my iPhone. Size-wise, they are within the limits allowed. Any suggestions?

iPhoto should import them just fine. Have you tried repairing permissions on your Macbook, then re-booting & see if iPhoto will see & import them.

  • Can no longer sync photos from iPhoto to my iPad or iPhone

I can no longer sync from iTunes to my iPad or iPhone if I want to sync photos from iPhoto.  I keep getting the following error:
"The iPad "XXXXXXXXXX" cannot be synced because it cannot be read from or written to."
If I choose not to sync photos everthing works fine.

I had a similar problem only neither my iPad nor my iPhone would sync and I was getting error 1106.
I looked it up and it said delete the iphoto cache, which I did and I also turned of syncing photos.
Now when I turn on SYNC PHOTOS FROM, the choice of Select albums........ is greyed out and cannot be clicked.
I don't want to sync my entire set of photos.

  • Cannot sync any photos from iPhoto to iPhone

I cannot sync any photos from iPhoto to my iPhone. When I select the box to "Sync Photos from iPhoto," it displays "0 photos" regardless of what other settings I try (all photos, selected albums, etc.). Attempting to sync from folders other than iPhoto works fine.
I have tried removing the iPod Photo Cache. (First syncing the iPhone with no photos selected, then removing the phone, closing iTunes and iPhoto, trashing the cache, emptying the trash, rebooting the iMac, restarting the phone, reattaching the phone, and trying to sync again.)
I've tried searching the internet for a solution, but have only found threads going off in multiple directions with no clear advice.
    iMac running OS X 10.9.1
    iPhoto 9.5.1
    iPhone 4S running iOS 7.0.4

Additional info: I tried repairing permissions, repairing the database, and even rebuilding the database in iPhoto. Rebuilding eliminated all ordering in my albums. Since this seemed to be only messing things up further, I then tried restoring my entire iPhoto Library from a previous version in Time Machine (when synching photos still worked). However, the problem persists. I am still unable to sync any photos from iTunes to my phone.

  • HT4236 photos are syncing without a problem however movies in the same folder do not.  How do you sync movies from iPhoto to the iPhone?.

  • I'd like help troubleshooting moving albums from iPhoto to iPhone

Help! I'm having trouble moving iPhoto (OS 10.7.4) albums/photos back to iPhone 4S (OS 5.1.1). I previously uploaded all photos from iphone to iphoto and parsed into albums. I deleted all photos from iphone. I followed apple instructions to move selected albums from iphoto to iphone, and iTunes shows synched, but no albums or images on displaying on my iPhone.
    Thanks in advance for assistance!

It is not an iPhoto library-- it's just seperate pictures on a USB stick. I never said you can run a library on a USB stick.
Free up space on my HD
Move current photos to my "Mac My Book" 1TB
Insure moving forward all new photos are stored and accessed to and from the My Book
This is clearly a request to move the iPhoto library to an external hard drive and run it there
The instructions for doing that are
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive
It is NOT possible to do that on a USB Stick!

  • Syncing selection of photos from iPhoto to iPhone

Just bougth an iPhone 3GS 16 gb and want to sync a selection of photos/maps from iPhoto, through iTunes, to the iPhone, just like I do with syncing music. Under the Photos tab in iTunes I can only choose for all the content of the iPhoto library. But then I get an syncing error message (-50). I see the possibillity (like under the music tab) to select only the maps I want, but I can not click on it, it's greyed out. I already adjusted under the summery tab not to sync automatically but manually.
Moreover, syncing photos to the iPhone 3G of my wife worked just like I want, using the same iMac, but when I tried it just now (it was some time ago that I synced that iPhone)it appears to have the same problem. I'm not aware that I changed some tuning. Could it be caused by an updat of MacOSX or Itunes or iPhoto?
    What to do?

wjosten posted "Re: Cannot sync selection of iPhoto to iPhone" in "Cannot sync selection of iPhoto to iPhone" on Dec 27, 2009 4:29:17 AM.
You need to go into your iPhoto application and turn off (or disable) all music that is tied to any of your self-created slideshows. This error seems to be directly related to odd characters in the titles of the songs in your slideshows. Then sync your photos. Afterward, you can then "try" and go back in and re-attach your songs inside your slideshows, and see if your iPhoto photos will again sync without the -50 error.

  • Sync dates of photos from iPhoto to iPhone

I was recently on holiday and after I synced my photos from my camera and iPhone to iPhoto I realised that the date stamp on my camera was incorrectly set to 2013.  I updated the photo info in iPhoto and they are all now showing as 2014.  However, I have removed and synched them with my iPhone several times but it still treats them as 2013.  They are all out of order in the Collections view.  I'm using the most up to date software for my Mac and iPhone but it did this before iOS8.  Any suggestions?
