Syncing all devices via iCloud
Before switching to iCloud my calendar synced to my desktop Mac, MacBook, iPad and iPhone automatically. Since switching to iCloud, my calendar has not synced to all devices. How do I get back to the automatic syncing of my calendar?
Are you already using iCloud on all your devices, are the contacts you wish to use across iCloud in your "iCloud" account or in your "on my Mac" account.

Naive question but here goes.
As a family we have one Apple ID. All devices are synced via my PC and backed up to it rather than to iCloud.
Books purchased via Kindle App appear on all the devices within the "cloud" option. How do I separate each reader's prefernce to their own device? I want to make sure that the younger one's dont have access to anything unsuitable.
Thanks.You can have one AppleID for your purchases so that all teh devices can use all the apps without having to buy them again, and at the same time, have different iCloud accounts for each user so that their content is not intermingled with everyone else's. You can even go so far as to have your iCloud Account enabled for "Find my iPhone" for each of the other devices allowing you to keep track of where tehy are when they get misplaced.
If you need/want, you can share iCloud Calendars between different iCloud accounts as well. This is exactly what my wife & I have done. We share calendars so I know when she has classes or dog competitions, and she can see my work schedule so she knows what nights I have to be in late, etc. -
How can I make my photo albums sync between devices via iCloud?
I've recently started using iCloud to sync my iPhone 5 and iPad (original iPad). Problem is: new albums I create on my iPad in Photos are not appearing on my iPhone in Photos.
I thought they were meant to sync automatically but I've waited a week for them to sync and nothing has changed.
I just went into iCloud in my iPhone and did 'Backup Now' and upon completion, it's made no differecne to my missing photo albums.
Photos are turned on in iCloud on both devices.
Is there a way to 'force' iCloud to sync them up?
Thanks in advance for any help offered.Is your phone number checked in Settings>Messages>Send & Receive at>You can be reached by iMessages at. If it is selected in there, make sure that nothing else is checked that would cause the phone number to not be used.
Sometimes all that you have to do is to close the app completely and then launch it again and that might jump start the syncing of your messages. In order to close apps in iOS 7, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
If all of that is set up properly, you may have to sign out of messages on your devices and start over again. Start with the phone first so that the phone number is accessible to use on the iPad. Maybe this will be of some help.

Neo Malefane you should be enabled in Settings --> iCloud --> Notes on all you device. Then you can see your notes on all.

Thank you. New, but similar issue. Running XP and early iCloud on laptop. iOS 8+ on iPad and iPhone. Photos do not sync from iPad to itunes to iPhone Nor from iPhone to iPad. Both iOS devices are configured exactly the same. This leads me conclude that my laptop running XP is the weak link. Make sense?

Sync-ing Notes via iCloud to a PC (Windows)
So here's the deal, I have an iPad, Macbook Pro, iPhone and work machine running windows 7. I'm currently sync-ing notes and reminders across all of my Apple devices, and would like to have access to them on my work PC (windows) as well.
Is there a way to sync my notes via iCloud with my Windows machine?Worse still: the new iTunes will has discontinued to sync notes from MS Outlook with standard iTunes sync (wired or wireless)

In Icloud on my imac I can't see my "numbers" icon which i need to select "tick" to transfer data to my other devices via icloud. any ideas why it's not showing up?
You have to do it app wise, which means that the icon won't show up in settings, but you will be able to move files from your local drive to iCloud via the Numbers app (move... > choose the iCloud option).
It requires that you set up the same iCloud account on all your devices and that you have the latest version of Numbers on all your devices as well. -
Is it possible to NOT sync Mail preferences via iCloud?
I use Mail on both my office Mac and home Mac and would like to have slightly different email Rules setup on each. It seems, however, that in Mountain Lion, Mail automatically syncs its preferences via iCloud. I have looked through both the application and System Peferences settings and can see no location that allows me to change this behavior. FWIW, in System Preferences, I have iCloud set to NOT sink Mail, but it is set-up to sync Documents and Data.
Any ideas?I turned off the iCloud syncing of Mail between machines. Both machines communicate with the same IMAP server independently, so my email remains in sync that way.
My problem is that even though iCloud is not syncing my mail, it seems to be syncing my Mail.app preferences, which means all my filtering rules end up being duplicated across the two machines. Where this is a problem for me is that I have a filter setup to send me notifications (via boxcar.io) when messages from particular people or groups arrive in my inbox. When the preferences get synced both machines process the message and push a notification, so I get double notified of everything. -
My iPad is not syncing calendar events via iCloud that I enter on my iPhone 5, but events entered on the iPad are syncing with the iPhone.
On you phone, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar and make sure you have selected a calendar listed under your iCloud account as your default. If not, make this change, then enter a new event on your phone and see if it syncs properly now.
If your settings are already correct, or if after changing them it still isn't syncing properly, make sure all the calendar events on your phone are in your iCloud calendar. If not, enter any missing events either on your iPad, or on icloud.com from your computer. Then, after your iCloud calendar is up to date, go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn Calendars to Off. When prompted, choose Delete from My iPhone. After a minute or so, turn Calendars back to On to sync your iCloud calendar back to your phone. Then try adding a new event on your phone and see if it syncs properly now. -
I have an iPhone and iPad. I would like to get my husband an iPhone. Are we able to sync all devices and share info with both iPhones and the iPad, using a single email address?

I have a BT internet pop account and have been told this cannot sync across devices using icloud. Is this true and are there ways round it?
That's correct. iCloud handles only its own email, and has no relationship with other accounts. It's in the nature of a POP service that messages are downloaded from the server to the machine - it was really designed for single-computer use in the days when a second computer was an unheard-of luxury. You can usually set the email client to leave message on the server either permanently or for a specified period, so that other devices can also access the messages, but of course they won't see replies or sent messages.
IMAP (which is what iCloud uses) is the better protocol to use - the messages live on the server and the various computers and devices read them from there, like webmail - and a service which provides that will behave in exactly the same way as iCloud but independently of it. You should ask BT if they can provide an IMAP version of the account - some ISPs provide both, some don't. -
Like many others after I installed Maverick I found that all the calendar history has been lost and most of the forward info has also been lost. Also in order to get calendar, contacts and notes to sync with the iPhone I have had to move to iCloud. Contacts and notes sync fine. new calendar entries sync ok. My iPhone has all the calendar entries that were on the Mac before I installed Maverick. So far iCloud has not overwritten them nor have they synced onto iCloud.
How can I get all the entries from my iPhone onto iCloud, without losing the only copy of my calendar from my iPhone?
Thanks Apple for deciding to take over my privacy. I do not want this data stored on a US based server. Fortunately Mail still syncs via my own email provider. I guess Apple will find a way to stop that soon too!Greetings Nefertiti72,
It seems you are experiencing an issue with contact syncing and management. It seems you've removed an email account which contained a number of contacts that are not associated with your iCloud account. You may want to consider importing the contacts from the email account you removed. You can do it easily by following the steps in this article:
iCloud: Import a vCard
You can import an electronic business card, also called a vCard, into iCloud Contacts. If the vCard contains contact information for more than one person, each contact becomes a separate entry.
In iCloud Contacts, choose Import vCard from the Action pop-up menu , which appears at the bottom of the All Contacts list or a list of group contacts
Select a vCard to import.
The contacts from the vCard are added to the All Contacts group in Contacts. You can add the contacts to any other group by dragging them to the desired group.

Ipad 1 not syncing all photos from icloud
i have just bought an ipad 1 64gb (ios 5.1.1) all works fine but only 120 of the 1000 photos have synced via icloud?
any ideas? do i need to plug into itunes 1st time?
thanksYou should have been syncing photos to a computer to archive them, but it looks like you haven't been syncing via itunes to the computer.
I suspect from your description that you have been using photo stream. This is a service used to sync photos between devices, it's not a storage/archive service. Photos are kept in the stream for up to 30 days, after which they are deleted. If you've been using photo stream, then this is most likely the problem. Unless you've backed up the photos elsewhere, then they are gone. It's too late to use itunes for getting back photos. hopefully they are on some other device or computer. -
HT1277 e-mails on all devices without iCloud?
In order to receive e-mails on my iPhone, computer AND iPad mini, do I HAVE to use the cloud? Before iPad was set up for e-mail, I was getting all incoming mail on both my iPhone and computer. I didn't mind having to delete in 2 places.
Now, I just noticed that when I get an e-mail on the iPad, I don't get it anywhere else. I've lost more e-mails than I even know this way. I have no desire to use the icloud.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!They are def not there. I had a friend e-mail me a few tests. If I open it on the iPad, it doesn't show up anywhere else. But if I first open it from Computer or iPhone, then it still shows up on the iPad.

When you set up Yahoo! Mail using the mail client on your mobile device, it automatically uses IMAP servers to sync your phone's mail client to your Yahoo! Mail account. This means the emails are retrieved on the device and remain within your Yahoo! Mail account. Both (webmail and device) will mirror each other. What this means is that if a message is deleted from your phone, the message will also be deleted from your account. Likewise, when changes are made in your Yahoo! Mail account, the changes will be reflected on your device. IMAP servers sync your device and account constantly, so they are the same.
