Syncing all media across Mac Devices

Hello,
Ok, so I have a Mac Mini with OSX Lion, an iPhone 4S and am about to purchase a Macbook Air.
My questions:
1. How do I access and sync all of my media across all devices? (This includes, emails, documents, music, videos and apps)
2. Am I able to re-download purchased TV Shows from iTunes music store on other devices? If so, how?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Kindest regards and best wishes for the New Year,
James

You don't sync the MM calendar anymore, you subscribe to it in iCal,
    iCal>Preferences>Accounts, enter the details here.
MM should be the default calendar on all clients.

Go to www.ecamm.com and d/l PhoneView.
To prevent a sync when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - hold down the 'option' and the 'command' keys when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - key the keys down until the iPod/iPhone is listed under the Devices list in iTunes - this will prevent a sync from taking place.
With PhoneView you can take the content from the device to the iTunes library.

When you say hit and miss do you mean sometimes you print a whole document with no problems, or do you mean each document has problems? This is from HP's website for your printer:
Your sig says 10.6.7 but your message says 10.7. So if it's really Lion, this printer isn't officially supported. Elsewhere on HP's site it says updated drivers will be available on your Mac via Software Update. Have you run that recently?

  • Upgraded to Mavericks - and iCloud.   Calendar will not stop 'updating' - and has not synced all entries across all devices/calendars.

    Hello Apple Support Community;
I am looking for some help on several matters related to my upgrade to OS X Mavericks this week.   THIS issue is one related to CALENDAR.
I believe that I have done everything (as instructed) to install, activate, and sync contacts and calendars via iCloud - immediately following my upgrade to Mavericks earlier this week.   When I opened CALENDAR for the first time - from the Dock on my computer (not the iCloud calendar) - after upgrading to Mavericks and setting up iCloud - CALENDAR provided a pop-up notification stating "Moving calendars to server account..." with a moving "candy cane" progress bar.
This has been "updating" for about 12 hours, now.   And while open and "updating" - it will not allow ANY other commands, scrolling, or menu options.   Additionally, I am unable to close this calendar of the Mac, unless I 'Force Quit'.   I have, in fact, executed Force Quit, and restarted the Mac.   No change... it still "updates".
When I open the iCloud calendar - it opens and works (mostly).   There are events on my iPhone 5 that are not on the iCloud calendar.   And there are events on the iCloud calendar that are not on my iPhone.   I have created new calendar events on each calendar account (iCloud on my Mac and iPhone 5) - and they seem to automatically update each device.   There does not seem to be any obviously rationale for the inconsistency of the calendar (iCloud and iPhone).
Can you offer ideas for possible solutions to:
    1)  the "permanently updating" calendar from the Dock on my Mac?
    2)  ensure that all events are properly synced across all calendar accounts (and devices)?
    THANK YOU!!

Hello Phil... I got nothing from the Apple Communities.   May have been very hard to diagnose via my description - or hard to resolve given many possible solutions.
The perpetually updating scroll-bar-of-death continued for about a week.
I DID (finally) get resolution from the Genius Bar in my local Apple Store.   They deleted all prior "local" calendar back-ups and content - as I had my Calendar up on iCloud - which essentially "reset" the calendar function... and then reloaded the calendar, and then pulled in my calendar data from iCloud.
They twisted and tweaked a few more things that I was not able to follow (sorry I cannot offer more assistance on these other things).
    They also reloaded Mavericks.
Everything seems to be working well now.
Apple Community... any more guidance for Phil - and others???
    Good luck, Phil.

  • ICloud won´t sync all contacts with Mac

    Hardware and software involved:
Macbook Pro (bit older model) with fully updated Lion
iPhone 4 with fully updated newest iOS
    Situation:
There are all contacts in iCloud. iPhone synces without issue and has all contacts in adress book. On Mac many contacts are missing.
    Tested solutions on Mac:
    1) Turned iCloud account off and on - no result, no change, iCloud still synces only some contacts
    2) Turned iCloud adress book syncing on (while deleting all contacts on Mac) - no result, no change, iCloud still synces only some contacts
    3) Deleting user/Library/applicationsupport/adress book - adress book synced more contacts (and different ones) then before, but still not all... Maybe around 1/2 contacts from iCloud.
Looking for help, I´m out of ideas. This is not some trivial error like looking in wrong tab at Adress Book (for example looking to On My Mac).
    Thank you.

If your only issue is with duplicates I would go to your address book and click on the "red marker" up on the window. That should get you into main directory. There you should see at least two main lists:
    On My Mac
    iCloud
If you click on iCloud, there should be all entries with no duplicates - check if all your contacts are there. Then go to On My Mac and delete all contacts there. Problem solved (and if you have iPhone don't sync contacts over cable if you have iCloud sync active, that's where my duplicates came from).
My issue was more complicated. It started with duplicates which I have deleted as described above. Then I noticed I have all contacts on my iPhone and I can see all contacts on iCloud web page but in Mac there was only about half of them.
So after trying stuff for some time I have solved it by
    1) deleting all contacts from Mac and turning iCloud off on Mac
    2) copying all contacts from iPhone to Mac over cable to On My Mac directory
    3) deleting all contacts from iPhone and iCloud manually, turning iCloud on iPhone off
    4) copying all contacts from Mac back to iPhone
    5) deleting all contacts from Mac (On My Mac)
    6) turning iCloud on again and uploading contacts from iPhone to iCloud
    7) turning iCloud on again on Mac and leting Mac sync
Complicated stuff, it's few days so I hope I have not forgotten something.

  • Lightroom CC syncing and deleting across Mac, iPhone, and iPad Lightroom apps

I have searched for nearly an hour for some answers and find the Lightroom support sections massively confusing, even contradictory (example here:  Adobe Lightroom on mobile FAQ In one answer it says that "Lightroom on mobile syncs original JPEG and PNG files that originate from your mobile device in the Creative Cloud" and in another question right below it says "Since Lightroom on mobile does not store your original image files, but instead syncs Smart Previews").  I need some basic questions answered around how these various platforms inter-operate [BTW, I am running latest OS and App versions across the board]:
    1) Do images taken with my iPhone automatically get uploaded to Creative Cloud (CC) or not and are they at full resolution? [Seems like they sync once I open the app, but not sure of resolution.  Would be good to know what is supposed to trigger the syncing, e.g., opening the app, taking the picture, etc.]
    2) Once an image is uploaded to CC from the phone, and I can see it in Lightroom desktop, are changes made to the image from either device's version of Lightroom automatically synced, i.e., I will see the changes made from any device on any other device the next time I log into CC from that device? [It seems like this is the way it works, but again not sure]
    3) Assuming the whole image is uploaded intact from the phone to the CC, if I delete the image in the Apple Photos app, will that in any way affect the CC cloud image?  I am not deleting it from within any Lightroom app at this point -- just the native IOS app. [Does not appear to be in any way connected -- which is both good and bad -- must delete in multiple places now]
    4) If I delete the photo in the CC from the desktop, does it delete the native photo on the phone as well, or do I need to delete it in both places to get rid of it entirely? [It would seem that when I delete the photo from the Lightroom iPhone app, after it has been synced, it does not delete it from the Lightroom desktop version -- I still see it there]
    5) I assume videos taken with the phone are not uploaded -- is that right? [They are not loaded to the CC as best as I can tell]
    6) Do the iPhone photos that get uploaded to CC end up only as preview-like images on the desktop version of Lightroom, or is the entire original resolution image downloaded to the desktop?  If it is not downloaded, how do I export a full resolution, modified image from Lightroom desktop (or from the iPhone for that matter)?
    7) I am not seeing any of the 25,000+ photos stored on my desktop version of Lightroom getting synced to the cloud -- isn't supposed to sync a preview image, and if so, how do I enable that?  What happens to changes to that preview image made from the phone -- do they get made back on the desktop version of the image through Lightroom?
Thanks for the help.  I wish Adobe made this clearer up front so as to avoid any accidental deletions and to ensure the products are interoperating the way they should.

Let me try to answer your questions.
    1)
collections created within the Lr Mobile app will be automatically synced to the back-end. You can add photos manually from your camera roll or enable a collection for "Auto Add". With that all future camera shots will be automatically imported to Lr Mobile and synced
    2)
correct. changes will be synced from Lr Mobile to Lr Desktop - back&forth
    3) local camera roll deletion is not connected to the Cloud back-end. But be carefull that the import/sync is finished before you trigger that.
    4)
as answerd before. the cloud back-end is not connected to the device camera roll
    5)
    video is not supported yet
    7)
original resolution images will be  downloaded to Lr Desktop. Preview images will be shown in the Lr Web view Adobe Lightroom
    8)
when you create a collection within Lr Desktop and add your photos you would like to sync, then you can enable this collection for sync. As soon your are signed-in and start the sync (via the top left activity panel) you will notice a little checkbox beside the collection. When you check this sync start to run. Lr Deskop generates smart previews and uploads these to the back-end (plus thumbnail previews + meta-data). When you open up Lr Mobile app and you would like to make an edit, the Lr Mobile app loads the smart preview form the back-end and syncs back the meta-data or edit setting.
Hope that helps you to start.
    Guido

  • ITunes won't sync all photos across from iPhoto to my iPad, either when using 'all photos' or manually selecting the events. All the rest sync normally

Can anyone suggest a workround or reason why I can't sync a batch of about 300 photos in 5 events on consecutive days across from iPhoto 09 to my iPad 2? All the rest (>1000 frames mainly before and some after) go over, including some shot on the same digital camera (before and after). I've tried using 'all photos' and also manually selecting the events individually, they won't go. An album containing some of these photos goes across without them included, and converting the whole album on iPhoto to a movie and then dropping that into my videos won't go either. I've cleared the sync history as advised by the support line, and all software is updated. Loads of room on the iPad

Started having the same issue with my iPad 2 just this week. Tried deleting the iPod Photo Cache, disabling then re-enabling photo sync through iTunes, but keep getting the error: "Some of your photos, including the photo “XXX.jpg”, were not copied to the iPad “XXX” because they cannot be displayed on your iPad." This is with iOS 4.3.5, iTunes 10.4, and Mac OS 10.7 Lion.
Interestingly enough, I have no issues syncing the same exact set of photos to my iPhone 4 (also running 4.3.5). This seems to be an iPad-only issue.

  • Sync all fields from Mac Address Book to iPhone Contacts

You would think that all the fields entered in Address Book would sync to iPhone Contacts. I have fields for "spouse", "assistant" and some custom fields like "skype", "blackberry", etc, which do not get transferred over to iPhone.
I migrated from Entourage/Palm to "all Mac apps" to resolve this problem and now have fewer fields available than before!
I want ALL fields sync'ed over to my iP3G!
Anyone have a fix for this?

I have a problem similar to DeeRun's.. I would like the IM fields to be synced.. I use them to send e-mails to when the e-mail field is empty or when i just want to use that specific address.. Very annoying, would take hours if not days to transfer all those IM adresses to e-mail fields in addressbook..
EDIT: not to mention the mess it would make in my address book!

  • How do I sync my content across my devices?

I've been transferring my substantial collection of CDs to my iTunes, but I find that it is only available on the computer into which I transfer it. How do I share this content without having to go from device

    Hi HighCTenor,
Thanks for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
If you are importing your CDs to iTunes, and would like them to be available to your other iOS devices or computers, you can set up Home Sharing using these guides:
iTunes: Setting up Home Sharing on your computer - Apple Support
iOS: Setting up Home Sharing on your iOS device - Apple Support
Home Sharing will let you stream your music over your home Wi-Fi network to your iOS devices, as well as copy imported music to an iTunes library on your other computers.
Another option is to sign up for iTunes Match, which allows you to store your music in iCloud to download or stream at your convenience:

  • Media Center MAC and Storage

A friend of mine recently gave me his old media center PC to use on my TV. I love the idea of recording live TV, however, Mac does not have this option built directly into any of its CURRENT systems (I have seen the blogs about the recent patent filed for a possible media type Mac device). You can attach 3rd party equipment, but do they work? In addition, my MacBook Pro laptop has eaten up most of my 120GB hard drive space, so switching to the media PC helped free up some space, but I still had to keep my music files on my laptop (over 40GB) for i-tunes. This is also the case with my photos. I want external storage for my laptop but on a home network for the media PC and my son's windows laptop. Does anyone have any suggestions for storing files on an external drive, instead of on my laptop, that all 3 computers can sync up to and use/access (share) without actually storing them on the individual hard drive systems? This may sound basic to some of you out there, but I am not up to speed on this stuff, and my friend is all about pc based systems.

    Thank you for the reply-
Would this allow me to place all the data from my Mac on the NAS and have all three computers point to it without storing the info on the main hard drives? Does it need to be attached to the media center pc? Can I use a Mac mini like the media pc? Are there 3rd party program specifically for Mac to make it operate like a media center pc, besides Apple TV?
*Example- I placed my itunes music files onto the media center pc (except for purchased songs- can I transfer those as well?). But when I tried to get them back to the Mac, it transfered the whole file back to my Mac via the airport extreme, I could not just "refer" to the media pc to play the music from the files on it.
In addition, I have front row, which acts similar to the media pc system for access to audio/video files and picture files. But are there any programs besides front row that are similar to the media pc program that can be used on the Mac to include recording, scheduling and storing the live TV shows?

  • Apple TV didn't sync all music

I just got a 160GB ATV and set it to sync my entire music collection (7188 songs, 49.27GB from iTunes). This went pretty well though not quite everything has synchronized. The ATV shows 7175 songs, 49.20GB.
Is there any way to easily check which songs are missing and why they didn't copy across?

I also recently purchased a ATV. Mine also did not sync all media the first time. I did notice the exclamation point mentioned previously. The solution to my problem was to deauthorize the computer and then reauthorize it. I found a post somewhere that stated even though it was authorized it lost the ability to verify it was authorized. After doing this it synced the remainder of my media. Hope this helps.

  • HT202297 How can I sync calendar on my mac book with iPhone and iPad mini?

How can I sync all calendars, like mac book, iPhone, and iPad ?

Set up the same iCloud account on all of your devices, then turn calendar syncing to On.  This article explains how to set up iCloud on your iOS devices and your Mac: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/.  You will have to be running OS X Lion (10.7.2) or higher on your Mac and iOS 5 or higher on your iOS devices in order to do this.

  • Media Go USB device music formats?

Well this isn't so much about my phone but other USB devices however I can't find any other sony forum to do with Media Go.
Anyway, in Medoa Go device properties you can tell it which format to convert to when the USB device does not support the format the song is in, but is there a way to tell it what formats the USB device actually supports?
It looks like it just assumes that any USB device connect can support both MP3 and AAC and that it can only support those two formats.
I have alot of MP3, AAC and FLAC files in my library, my phone and walkman work fine since they can play both MP3 and AAC and need the FLAC converted to MP3. However I also have a Yamaha AV reciever which can play FLAC from a USB stick however if I sync to a USB stick it converts all the FLAC to MP3 (or AAC if set to that). Is there any way that I can tell it for the USB stick connected to not convert anything and just to sync them?
Much in the same way my car stereo from USB can only play MP3 not AAC. So if I sync to a USB stick it does not convert any of the AAC files to MP3 it leaves them as AAC and only converts the FLAC files, and if I deselect the "encode only when require by device" the it encodes all the AAC to MP3 but it also renecodes all the MP3 files to MP3 which makes it take a lot longer as well as degrades the files.
Is there some way you can edit a Media Go program file that will tell it not to convery any of the files when it syncs or to convert files of a specific type?
I'd be nice to be able to just sync all 5 of my devices but as it is, it's only my two mobile devices I can sync and the other 3 I have to manually copy the files to the USB and/or manually convert each file before doing so which is of course time consuming and annoying.

The only thing you can set there though is under the "Media Format" tab which only sets the audio format that the files will be converted to if the device doesn't support the format  you are transfering, there is no option to select what formats the device actually supports.
I suspect for all the Sony devices it knows all the file formats they support so its no problem, but when you sync to a plain old USB stick (which the device you use it on could supoort anything) it always converts FLAC files and it never converts AAC, like it's assuming whatever you are going to plug the USB stick into is always capable of playing AAC files and not capable of playing anything else except MP3 files.
The only semi work around is to deselect the "Only encode audio when required by device" which will then convert every file to the selected format, but as I said the problem then being it takes a long time since it converts everything and it also converts the files which are already MP3 (or AAC if you are converting to AAC). And that's no help if the device you plug the USB  stick into can play the FLAC and other files and you don't actually need to it convert anything at all.
Surely there must be a config file or something that stores everything which you could edit to tell it that when connected to a USB stick to either convert none of the files at all, or convert only a specific format etc?
