Syncing and Apps....

If i buy a app through the phone, everything works fine with the phone and the app.......the problem i am having is.......once i sync, iTunes ask me if i want to transfer the apps, i select transfer now...... then you sync begins, but here is where the strange part is.......iTunes reinstalls all the apps i have......(as you can guess this makes my sync times very long as i have bout 20 apps...)......at the end of the sync i get an error message saying that there was a problem installing my app.......but when i disconnect my phone, all the apps are there and working.......
Is anyone else having these problems?????

I have and its annoying it also does a system back up on me every time and you want to talk about a long time of syncing maybe about 30mins or so
To be fair I have to say that it started happening to me once I had to reinstall I-Tunes because I got a virus from MultiMedia/games app .I was wondering if this virus came from one of the Apple Apps and is Apple inspecting there apps well enough to see if programmers aren't slipping in viruses through the Free Apps

Syncing and apps not showing up

HELP! I have purchased several new apps and hit sync. It syncs, then computer says "backing up iPOD" At this point, things just appear "stuck" It sits in backup mode forever, never making any progress. If I go to the iPod, none of the newly purchased apps show up (after sync). Have successfully downloaded apps before. Any ideas?

When your computer says "backing up ipod" click the x button next to where it says it. It should skip the backing up process and install the apps. This worked for me and hopefully it might work for you

2.0 syncing and apps

Can you sync the 2.0 update with apps? I just purchased a couple and they are sitting in itunes. If the upgrade does a restore, will I lose those apps?

You wont lose them.....
Be patient for the 2.0 software to come out any hour and then you will be able to transfer your apps.

Sync and App update

My sync is only one way when it comes to contacts. It will not sync from the contact list to the iphone but will from the iphone to the contact list.
Secondly, IO6 is suppose to allow us to update apps without entering pur passwords any longer. Yet, whenever I have to update, I still get prompted for my password.

I am near Philly, PA. And sorry, as I said I have had the SAME /password/ID the entire time. No app has been downloaded on my phone under any other password/ID. So that is not the issue.
I sync via itunes. Both ways, WIFI or USB. All other syncs work as they are suppose to. Only contacts do not sync both ways..........

Syncing and App load time

1) Regularly used apps are taking longer to open. For example when I open the "messages" app it lags for a couple seconds before displaying my texts. I deleted most old texts hoping that would speed it up, but it didn't. I have done the "home+power" button held past the red slider.
2) When cleaning up my iphone, what items should be considered for deletion other than the following:
-Texts
-Mail - inbox and sent
-Safari cookies, cache and history
-Any apps that log events (e.g. Things archives completed tasks)
3) My iPhone takes forever to sync now. Is there a way to modify it so it only backs up new items instead of backing up everything every time I sync? I have "calendar" and "contacts" checked to sync. But even when I haven't made any changes to my calendar or contacts ,it still goes through the whole syncing calendar and contacts process. Why?
4) I have to wait until the sync process fails to read how much space is required to sync all my selected items. Is there a way to see how much data I have selected to sync beforehand so I don't waste time syncing twice?
5) Does the iphone have moving parts? If not, does this mean it is not susceptible to fragmentation?

Did you already restore your phone? If no, restore it "as new phone" to make sure no corrupt data is copied back afterwards. Backup and restore: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Connect your phone and check the status bar in itunes to see if you have a huge orange "other" section on your phone. If yes, this could be corrupted data. Backup your phone manually by right clicking on it in the device list and choose backup. See what's part of the backup here: After that restore your phone

One of my apps is "waiting" for an update. Its been "waiting" for 4 days. It wont delete (so I can re load it). Sadly its not in i tunes as I put it on after the last sync and it wont for some reason sync either. Any ideas?

Download the app on iTunes under her account (you've already paid - you won't have to again), then sync the app across to the phone that way and it should clear it up.
It's possible the app is too large to do over the air and it started on wifi but wasn't able to continue and got corrupted.

My sisters ipod touch was being registered to my itunes account and then itunes crashed at the final stage and now it wont give me an option to sync my apps and songs from my itunes to her ipod. What can i do?

- You need to restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod and start anew. Is the restore button visable in iTunes? If it is they restore the iPod.
- If it is not visible try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- If the restore button is still not visable, try placing the iPod in recovry mode. See:

I updated my IPad and now I can't download any apps and it won't let me log onto iTunes , I have the same account I use on my iPhone which is synced and that works fine

If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update (iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.

Working on that now. I'm just getting frustrated that everytime I run updates for the phone I end up with tech problems that I have to spend time solving as opposed to updates that actually improve my usage. Tthe thing is when i just went to go manually start dowmloading a few of the songs that i knew i already bought , itunes is making me pay forthem again. No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.

it is an itouch, i buy apps from the app store, they are purchased, they show up in my app section but when i try to sync them to my itouch they do not show up in on the itouch. i have tried to atuthorize and deauthorize the computer also few times, rebooted computer and still nothing. when i restore the firmware and have everything reinstall all over again the apps music and such, all show up. however if i buy a new app and try to sync it with the itouch it does not show up despite the fact that the computer states 'installing "......" whatever app. it happens with numerous apps, there is no rhyme and reason to why certain apps just do not show up on the itouch. the authorize/deauthorize deal does nothing to rectify the situtaion. any other ideas ?

Regarding your broken, previously authorized computer, here's how that works:
You would authorize your new computer -- maybe you've done that already. Then you will have two computers authorized. Apple allows you to have up to five computers authorized at any time. If you get to five, you can then go to your account details in iTunes and remove all authorizations.
Bear in mind this is not saying you can synch to more tham one library. Razmee209 and gdgmacguy's comments above are correct. But if Apple only allowed you to authorize one computer at a time, then having a broken computer would mean you could no longer use your Apple ID with iTunes.
