Syncing and different accounts and my iPod

I have two users on my computer. One for me and one for a friend. I have one iTunes account and put all of my iTUnes things on one user. The only problem is I was on my friends account when I bought another app. I have all my apps on one account but I really wanted the newly bought app so when I tried to sync the app to my iPod it asked if I wanted to delete all my other apps and I clicked yes thinking that if I went on to the other user I could get the apps from that user too. Sadly this is not the case and I was wondering if anyone new anything about this and if there are any ways around it?

iPod Touch syncs with only one iTunes @ any time. if you sync with a different iTunes, all items from the other iTunes will be removed to make room for the new ones. that's not news, it has always been that way.
assuming you used your friend's iTunes store account to buy that particular app, you could do this:
in iTunes on your user account sign into your friend's iTunes store account and re-download the app (it's free of charge - see _*How to redownload purchased apps from the App Store*_). this will authorize iTunes on your user account to use/play purchases made with your friend's iTunes account @ the same time.
now you will be able to sync your files back to your Touch and also that one app in question. the only downside is that, in order to update this app, you will have to log out of your iTunes account, log into your friend's, update the app, then log back in to your own iTunes account.

  • Why can I only sync 2 audible accounts to my iPod

why can I only sync 2 audible accounts to my iPod

Why would you need to sync any more than just 1?  What exactly is happening? Need a bit more detail in order to assist you.
However, it sounds like it may be more of an Audible issue, in which case you should contact Audible's support.

  • Apps don't work after itunes sync and or ipod update!

Today when I clicked on my apps they'd open for a split second and then close down. I did some searching on this forum and as a result deleted all my apps and re-installed them again (time consuming and frustrating as all my game data is gone!) and now they work.
I assume this has to do with me either syncing my ipod with itunes for the 1st time yesterday or downloading an apple update for my ipod touch.
Does anyone know if this is a regular problem (i.e is this going to happen everytime I sync my ipod or update it?) and is there any fix other than me deleting and re-installing my apps?
    Thanks!

According to some of the AppleCare advisors that I've spoken with, a reset as you've mentioned can result in data loss.
And according to this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430 :
"Important: Only reset your iPhone or iPod touch if it is no longer responding."

I have a 2nd and a 3rd gen iPod Nano and I'm currently using latest iTunes version. My iPod will sync with iTunes and show up as a device but my new songs will not sync onto my ipod....anyone know why or have a solution?

  • TS1382 I want to add multiples of the same song from different playlists to my ipod but iTunes wont let me. How can I override this so that I get the songs I want on my ipod?

I want to add multiples of the same song from different playlists to my ipod but iTunes wont let me. How can I override this so that I get the songs I want on my ipod?

You can sync those different playlists to the iPod, and the song appears on each playlist.  However, the song is stored on the iPod once.  What is the practical reason for wanting to store the same song file multiple times (and waste storage space) on the iPod?

  • HT1918 My iPhone and my iPod have different account email addresses, I would like to sync them.  When I try to change (using edit) it reminds me that I already have an account with that name.  I don't need the reminder, I need to change the email address

I used different email addresses when I signed up for my iPod and my iPhone.  I would like to use only ONE email address for both devices.  When I try to edit, it tells me there is already a user with that address (hint:  I know that!).  Does anyone know how to sync two email accounts into one?  Thanks,

When I go into my account settings and try to change my old hotmail address to my current Yahoo! address, it tells me "That email address is already used as an Apple ID."  Yeah, I know that.  I set up the account that I'd really, really, like to have together, but it won't let me go further.  End of activity!  It is trusting that my email account and password are correct b/c it will let me make purchases, etc., so it's not like it is preventing fraud or anything.   Summary:  iPod = Yahoo!, iPhone = hotmail, would like to have both reflect my Yahoo! address.

  • I have a new computer and downloaded iTunes and signed in to my account but my iPod touch says it's synced to a different  account?

I have a new computer and downloaded iTunes and signed in to my account but my iPod tuoch says its synced to a different account?

Edit > Preferences > Store check Music under Automatic Downloads.
Open the iTunes Store from left hand column, then select Purchasedfrom the column on the right, click the Not In My Library button and select the tunes you want to download again.
That said, you seem to be under a misapprehension as to how iTunes works, or at least how it has worked in the past. It has, until recently, been up to you take care of your purchases once they have been downloaded. You had a one-time download which you were reminded to back up. With the recent change to this policy you can at least download your store purchases again, but having a personal backup of your iTunes store purchases, stuff purchased elsewhere and files ripped from your CDs will still be preferable to gathering all the stuff together again in the event of a disaster.
For a backup strategy see this User Tip.

  • How do i sync one itunes account with two iphones, one ipod touch, and a nano?

I need help in how to sync the one itunes account we use as a family with the two iphones my wife and i have and an ipod touch that my son has and a nano that my daughter has. Please help.

That article applies, as far as I can tell, to all things called iPod X where X can be nano, touch, classic etc.
We don't have two iPhones in the family as yet but as I understand it each device can have separate settings for syncing calendars and contacts. For example my iPhone syncs these over the air with the Exchange server at work so if/when my wife gets an iPhone it would be easy to have hers sync to our computer
To make sure your apps don't inadvertently merge turn off Automatically sync new apps from the apps tab when you connect your device.
The Apple support document How to use multiple iPods with one computer suggests a number of ways for managing the media content. I use method two (Sync with selected playlists) with a slight twist. Rather than regular playlists I set the grouping field to indicate which users should receive which tracks and create smart playlists based on the content of this field.
    e.g.
"Alice's Tracks" is "Grouping contains Alice" + "Kind contains audio"
"Bob's Videos" is "Grouping contains Bob" + "Kind does not contain audio"
Tracks that both Alice & Bob want on their iPods have the grouping set to "Alice/Bob"
    etc.
I currently manage our family's five iDevices using this system, each getting a different selection to suit their tastes and the capacity of their device. An advantage of using the grouping field is that it is stored in file tags (for non-wav audio files anyway) so that it is relatively easy to recreate the playlists should the iTunes library get trashed and need rebuilding. Also useful if you move files about manually as playlist membership is preserved when you delete & re-import the tracks.

  • I have 3 iphones, an ipod touch and an Ipad on the same itunes account.  should I have a different account for each device?  If so how do I get all my purchases, like music on all the devices?

You can sync as many devices as you want to the same iTunes account, there is no limit. You can have the same content on each device or different content, the choice is yours. iTunes will keep everything straight, by device, including separate backups. I'd suggest giving each device a unique name, to make things easier.

So how do I create a separate I tunes on a PC which already has itunes... Or if not can I plug my iPad to the PC and use itunes on my iPad, and drag mp3s from a computer.
I'm not sure what the equivalent of a desktop is on the iPad.. And I don't actually know how to use the icloud either...
Can anyone start me off, given it have a iPad and use of a PC - not mine with existing iplayer
I do have spotify soundcloud so I could potentially use these.. If there is a route of getting either mp3's etc to end up on my iPad or iPod.

  • We have itunes music on a computer, an ipod nano, and a new ipod touch under two different accounts. How can we combine the music from both accounts to one device?

We have itunes music on a computer, an ipod nano, and a new ipod touch under two different accounts. How can we combine the music from both accounts to one device?

There is no "adding" a device.  Simply plug the iDevice into the computer.  iTunes should automatically detect the device when it is connected.
iTunes can sync/manage as many iDevices as you want... there is no 1 device limit.

  • I just got a new Iphone 4. My husband already has an iphone 4 and an Ipod touch, with itunes set up on 2 different computers. How can I access the songs on either of his itunes accounts?

How do I get access to Itunes if my husband has already downloaded itunes on our 2 computers and his iphone 4 is the device for one computer and the ipod touch is the device for the second? I have already set up my own itunes account, but it doesn't recognize my phone on either of the computers. Do I need to down load a second itunes software on the computer just for my new device. That would seem ridiculous considering we are married and share all of the music together. Please help
