Syncing and losing app folders

Hi since the new massive software upgrade last week my iphone is losing message threads and also all the app folders I created. I have re-created these twice now but it is a wste of time and very tedious.
Any bright ideas?
Thanks
Judi

I dont know, but I arrange my apps into folders in itunes and when I sync there are some folders but not all the apps are in the folders i put them in.. I too feel like this is a big waste of time. But maybe I am not doing something right.. some times it takes me over an hour to arrange my apps and then when I sync half dont show up and the other half  I have to search for because they are not where I put them.. any suggestions?

  • Relating to sync and paid app purchases?

Actually I am having a doubt regarding sync and paid apps purchases
    First question
I am not having credit card so I can not make any paid app purchase from App Store but one of my friend is having credit card and he is making purchases so can I sync my phone with his pc and get his paid app to my phone
    Second question
If yes, then  will my app that are already existing will still be with me so that I can use both my free as well as his paid apps one at a same time
And my device in not jailbroken and I am not even interested in that

can I sync my phone with his pc and get his paid app to my phone
No, You would have to sign into your friends iTunes/App store account on your phone, and if you did that, all apps you previously downloaded on your account will no longer work (answer to question #2)

  • Syncing iphone and losing apps

I registered my replacement iphone and backed it up on itunes. when completed the apps were gone from my phone. I looked in itunes and they were still located there, but would not let me resync them to the phone. I tryed to redownload them on the phone and it told me they were already downloaded and would not let me relaod them. Has anyone else expierenced this problem?
    Thanks

3rd party apps are not included with your iPhone's backup. 3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app are included with your iPhone's backup.
When an iPhone is exchanged under warranty or a new iPhone is purchased to replace an existing iPhone, you are prompted to transfer the backup for an existing iPhone to the new iPhone the first time the new iPhone is connected to iTunes. This must be followed by a sync with iTunes to transfer selected iTunes content including 3rd party apps and any selected photos from your computer to your iPhone.
What does not let you sync apps mean? Are the selections under the Applications tab for your new iPhone sync preferences grayed out?

  • Hi, My desktop pc died recently. That was the computer that I used for my Itunes purchases. I have recently purchased a Macbook pro and tried to transfer info from the dead pc hard drive to my mac,how do I sync without losing apps?

When i try to sync my Iphone on my macbook pro I am told that I will lose any apps previously purchased while I was using a since crashed pc harddrive. I have authorized my macbook as a second computer but am not able to sync. Is there a way I can transfer my apps from my phone onto the macbook and then sync with my family members phones on the same account?

    On the MacBook launch iTunes.
From the menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer.
    Now sync your iPhone.

  • Why do my photos on my computer take up 5.5 GB but syncing them to my iPod Touch they take up around 15 GB, and why can I only select one folder to sync, and not multiple folders?

I have wiped the iPod a few times and tried from different computers. All the small things get more frustrating every day with apple.

I'm a little confused how that would help the problem I have...care to explain it a little differently?
The Camera roll, on the iPod Touch, is where photos taken by the iPod (if it has a camera), screenshots and downloaded pictures are stored. Since they have "originated" on the iPod they are not on your computer - yet. So the total size of the photos on your iPod (in your case 15GB) will be made up of photos you have synced from your computer (5.5GB) and the Camera Roll of 9.5GB.
In the Photos App, notice the line named Photo Library (I mentioned it in my previous post). That folder contains all the photos synced form your computer. If there is an extra line above the Photo Library, named Saved Photos, this is the Camera Roll and it is where those screenshots, downloaded pictures and camera shots are listed.
Cruicially, if you ever need to Restore your iPod, the Camera Roll (Saved Photos) will be deleted, so you may wish to save the contents of the Camera Roll onto your computer. My method is; when the iPod is connected to iTunes, look in My Computer for an extra drive (it should show an iPod icon) and copy them from there to a folder on my computer. If I want them on your iPod, I paste them into one of the folders I intend to use for Syncing with the iPod. Once they have been successfully saved, I can go back the My Computer/the iPod and delete them from the Camera Roll.

  • Sync without losing apps?

    HI
I would like to sync my iphone with a new Macbook.
I copied the iTunes folder from my old Mac and replaced it with the one I copied.
    This being said...
If I would go ahead and re-sync with the new Mac... Will it erase everything on it?
Will I lose the apps if I would do that?
How can I keep the apps and all other info?
How can I simply start syncing with the new Mac without losing anything on it?
How do I start the sync progress from scratch but to have it just the way it is with the new Mac?
Or at least if I would have to backup the iphone, how do I do that?
    Thanks.
    Would appreciate.
    Cheers.

There is no excuse for someone not including their iTunes library with their computer's backup along with all other important data stored on their computer's hard drive. Since nowadays people switch computers often, another reason why there is no excuse for this. Apple includes Time Machine on each Mac running Leopard or later for this very thing and includes a warning message with iTunes about backing up iTunes content downloaded from the Tunes store. The iPhone is not designed or intended to be used as a backup storage device and even if it were, only someone who is not very bright would use a portable device like an iPhone as their only backup. There can be a partial or complete hard drive failure without warning at any time regardless the age of the hard drive. Don't maintain a regular backup for the important data stored on your computer's hard drive and you are playing Russian Roulette with your important data. And an iPhone can be lost or stolen or suffer hardware failure from being dropped on a hard surface or water damage from being dropped in a toilet which is very common with cell phones these days.
How hard can it be to include your iTunes library with your computer's backup per the simple instructions included with this link?

  • ITunes wireless sync and Remote App not working in in unison.

I'm running iTunes on a Windows 8 machine, and I'm having issues getting both these above mentioned applications working together.
I did have some issues in the beginning with setting up wireless sync for my iPhone, but these were fixed by restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service that runs in the background.
The remote application seemed to have similar issues in the beginning, so I tried restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service - and this seemed to help, but then wireless sync faulted again.
After having a bit more of a read, I made sure UPnP was enabled across the board - in my PC and router, SSDP on my PC was changed to automatic mode, all bonjour services were confirmed running and there and I couldn't see any funky rules in my firewall that may be causing me issues.
I did find though, that both the remote app and the wireless sync functions operate on the same ports; TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353. I'd imagine if this would be a problem, it would have been picked up - but I can't find any solid info to disregard this thought. Can anyone confirm or deny that this could be an issue?
    Any other ideas? Cheers.

  • Upgrading to Lion and losing apps

Here's my dilema... I really want to upgrade to Lion for obvious reason, but am a little nervous about losing all my apps. For instance, I bought the new Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite on student discounts, so I only recieved one activation code for those. If I have to reinstall those apps after installing Lion, will that one activation code still work?
Would it be better to go the route of backing up everything to Time Machine? I hope I'm correct when I assume I won't have to activate any apps transferred through TIme Machine.
I would appreaciate help from anyone who can clear this up for me!
    Thank you in advance!

What's a body to do?  Apple may be shafting me by dropping support for older applications but they finally satisfied me by coming out with the new MacBook Air, so I got me a 13"/256 GB storage/4 GB RAM/i7 birthday present to myself, complete with Lion and I will go ahead and install Windows 7/Parallels so I can run Quicken 2011 for Windows.
This machine is also a compromise--I have an original iPad and find myself very frustrated by the lack of Flash support--too many of the web sites I use seem to have embedded Flash videos or other Flash graphics, but I need a highly portable computer to take with me when I travel and I want to be able to run both Flash and Quicken on it so I've been waiting for the new Airs.  And, while portability said "11 inch model", the likelihood of running Windows in a window on my MacOS screen (and watching movies) and the need for room to install both OSs led me to the 13 inch with 256 GB of space.
So I will be running Quicken henceforth on Windows and, I suppose, Turbotax as well.

  • My ipad used to show up on the left side of my screen it would be named by my device, I could sync and control apps, movies, music etc. that control is gone. Now I can't sync or manage.

When connecting my IPad to my MAC, on the right hand side of the screen, my device would show up and I could switch movies etc from my computer/ITunes back and forth. Now a days the device shows up on the top and is listed as devices, IPad and Iphone but I have no control or syncing control. Need help

  • Syncing and losing music

have a laptop with a smaller hard drive. Last night, I synced the iPod Touch with my laptop to upload the music. I didn't have room on the hard drive for as many albums that I wanted, so I deleted the ones from the iTunes that I had already uploaded.
Today, after sync to add new albums, it erased the ones I already added. How do I keep this from happening?

    Welcome to the discussions,
You can't change that iTunes will delete items on your ipod that are no longer part of your iTunes library:
By default, iTunes automatically syncs your entire iTunes library whenever you connect your device to your computer. On each subsequent sync, iTunes will automatically add any new music or videos to the device and remove any items that are no longer in your iTunes Library.
    copied from: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1535
To avoid this, think about getting a bigger HD or copy your iTunes library to an external HD and make iTunes use this place to store and manage your data. See also http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751

  • New GMail sync and Google Apps vs GMail

Has anyone tried this yet? I'm curious if it will work with Google Apps vs GMail only. I've been out of town lately and haven't had time to play with it any early feedback?
    Thanks!

It appears to work in the other apps, such as Calendar.

  • How come I cannot put music from my library to my iPhone without syncing and losing music from my other computer?

I am having trouble putting music from my music library onto my iPhone without syncing. I have home sharing set up already, but not all of my music transferred. I do not want to lose the music I have my phone now. Is there anything I can do?

Not really. An iOS device can only be synced with one iTunes library at at time.

  • I can't see my apps & folders in the newest iTunes?

On the latest version of iTunes, I can't view my device (iPhone5) or manage the apps or folders on the iPhone5. I can sync my iPhone, transfer purchases from my iPhone, Backup or Restore from Backup. I used to be able to see a pic of my homescreen and manage apps & folders, but no longer can.

I assume that you have already powered down and restarted the entire network.
The next thing to check is this:
Click anywhere on the open desktop so that the Finder menus appear at the top of the screen
Click the Finder menu, then click Preferences
    Click the General tab
Under the heading of Show these items on the desktop, make sure that there is a check mark next to Connected Servers
You may need to restart the entire network again.
    Any help?

  • I synced my new iPad with my new macbook and when I tried to then sync my iPhone as well it says that all apps will be replaced with apps in my library. How do I sync without losing all of my existing iPhone apps?

I synced my new iPad with my new macbook and when I tried to then sync my iPhone as well it says that all apps will be replaced with apps in my library. How do I sync without losing all of my existing iPhone apps?

My guess is that you previously synced the iPhone with a different computer in the past. You will probably want to set up Home Sharing.
