Syncing and Restoration question...

Hello,
Right, ive synced everything, ticked everything that i want my iTunes to sync to my computer like calendars, contacts, bookmarks and notes.
Now, if i restore my iphone then restore it from my last backup, WILL IT RESTORE EVERYTHING? LIKE THE CALENDARS, CONTACTS, BOOKMARKS, AND most importantly, TEXT MESSAGES?

In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When syncing iTunes content or transferring photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from your iPhone first.
The sync process for iTunes content and photos transferred from a computer is a one way transfer process only - from your computer to your iPhone.
If all your iTunes content in your iTunes library on your desktop was purchased from the iTunes store - namely music and video, iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store only.
If you haven't already done so, you need to authorize your laptop with your iTunes account with iTunes.
With your iPhone connected to iTunes on your laptop and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone. If all or some of your 3rd party apps do not transfer from your iPhone, you can re-download the 3rd party apps with iTunes on your laptop and you won't be charged again for any purchased apps as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the apps that was used to purchase the apps originally.
If your iTunes library on your desktop includes music and video that was not purchased from the iTunes store, you need to transfer your iTunes library from your desktop to your laptop.

  • How do I transfer game apps from one IPAD 2 to another without losing points or awards? I have backed up, sync and restored, nothing is working...I have to start over and lose the awards I paid for?

My first IPAD 2 wireless failed, so a second IPAD 2 was sent to me. I have game apps that aren't transfering at the levels I have achieved. Is there a way I can keep the game app levels where I am? ie, Planet fish< solitaire, Sudoku, bejeweled 2, shazam-(has saved my content)...so why has some of these not saved my content? Or is there something other than back up, syncing and restoring that will save what I have accomplished so far?

Assuming that the Library is intact, then simply drag the back up to your internal HD - put it on the desktop and open it, to make sure all is well:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and point it at the Library on the desktop.
If it is, trash the one in your Pictures Folder and put the restored one in its place.

It all depends on the definition of "factory unlocked". If the phone was purchased directly from Apple and the receipt says "Unlocked" then updating or restoring it will leave it unlocked (Apple never uses the term "factory unlocked" as there is no such thing; phones are unlocked at activation time). Similarly, if it had been locked to a carrier and the carrier authorized it to be unlocked, and you went through the unlocking steps they provided, it is permanently unlocked.
Unfortunately, a lot of the phones sold as "factory unlocked" were actually unlocked by hacking in the "factory" in the basement of some shop somewhere. These phones at best will become locked to the original carrier if restored, and in the worst case will be permanently disabled if restored.

iOS 7 devices need iTunes 11.1 or newer to sync.  Depending upon your computer and the OS it is running, you may not be able to upgrade to iTunes 11.1 based on the requirements for iTunes 11.1.  What computer and OS are you running your iTunes on?  From the iTunes download pages I see the requiorements are:
    Macintosh System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core processor
OS X version 10.6.8 or later
    400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
    Windows System Requirements
PC with a 1GHz Intel or AMD processor and 512MB of RAM
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
64-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 require the iTunes 64-bit installer
    400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store

  • Exchange Server 2013 backup and restoration question

    Good afternoon
I am wondering if I can pick people's brains here if that's not too much trouble.
I have recently implemented an Exchange 2013 environment with 3 servers (two multi-role CAS & MBX physical machines, and one further virtual CAS server). Everything is working correctly and mail-flow is fine. My question relates to backup and restoration
procedures. I am running a single Database Availability group with the two multi-role servers members of the this group and I have one Mailbox Database on the DAG, passive on one member and active on the other. Failover has been tested and this is functioning
    as expected.
The backup environment I have implemented is as follows. I have utilized a separate Microsoft DPM 2012 server that runs a nightly Bare Metal backup on both multi-role servers with a retention range of 14 days and I have protected the DAG using DPM with a
nightly full-express backup and 4 hourly syncs on one of the multi-role servers. Furthermore the Mailbox Database is protected, again nightly with a copy-backup.
I am confident I know what to do should the mailbox database become corrupted or lost or need to be restored for one reason or another (it would just be a case of restoring the backed up mailbox database using DPM to a pre-created recovery database), what
I am not quite so sure on is what I would do should I lose one or both of the multi-role CAS and MBX servers (the third CAS I am not so worried about as it is not used for incoming mail flow from the internet and we really only use it for ECP as we did not
want to expose this to the internet). I wonder what process should follow to restore my Exchange servers (I know how to perform the Bare Metal recoveries using WSB) and what configuration would be required after restoring the Bare Metal backups.
I know this is a reasonably long question but if anyone has any advice for me I would appreciate it greatly in the unlikely event something goes horribly wrong with my Exchange environment.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Yes, Most of the configuration settings are stored in AD. Mail data and personal related data are store in Mailbox DB. We just need to take consideration of these two points.

  • HT4113 i have synced and restored but it is still asking for passcode

my daughter cannot remember passcode. i have connected to itunes and restored. saved e verthing to itunes. the ipod touch is still asking for passcode.

What Passcode? If the Restrictions passcode then you have to restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If a screen-lock passcode then restoring from backup will not result in restoring the screen-lock passcode.

  • Ipod touch sync: other? and restoring questions

for the past few months everytime i sync my ipod touch it shows the catagorey "other" next to the auido, photos, videos, apps, and free space. at the moment it reads "other 208 MB", which is taking up a lot of my space considering i have an 8GB and i typically use all of my space on it. so i just wondered what "other" is and how i can get rid of it.
i know that a few people have said that restoring the ipod will fix the problem. i would restore it except for the fact that i don't know if it will delete all of my notes, calendar dates, apps, map settings, safari bookmarks, my saved photos (especially because they don't sync to my computer, they're only on my ipod, and i have 203 saved photos), and other things like that.
    thanks.

Reinstalled iTunes and tried a different USB port. I don't know which of those did the trick though.

  • Windows vista, sync and restore errors. I give up.

    I have had continuous problems with my 8gb ipod touch, 2nd gen. I just returned one which I had had for 4 months during which it worked, but then I could not get it to restore and now have a new one and have the same problem. When I first got the new one , it would not sync it had a number of errors such as;
    - Attempting to copy to the disk 'X' ipod failed. An error occurred while writing to the device.
-The ipod 'X' iod cannot be synced an error occurred while writing to the device.
    -Required disk cannot be found.
-Also something about Apple Mobile Device
So I uninstalled itunes and all related programs and then reinstalled them.
I managed to get a few songs on to the ipod but they were distorted and the album art became chequered.
I then tried to restore it and have had more errors such as:
-The 'ipod' ipod could not be restored, an unknown error occurred (6).
-The 'ipod' ipod could not be restored, an unknown error occurred (14).
I have done all the things specified such as:
    -Restarting the computer,
    -Reinstalling Itunes,
-Using differnt USB ports on the computer,
    -Removing the firewall, Zone Alarm,
    -Removing everything from itunes.
Is it due to an itunes update possibly around june, that I have started experiencing problems.
Will I be able to fix it?
Any help would be appreciated, otherwise I shall return it and not bother with an ipod again.
    Many Thanks

I have exactly the same problem with my 8gb ipod touch 2nd gen and have tried everything you have with no success (see http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2531624&tstart=0)
It's definitely due to the itunes 9.2 update in June. I get the same itunes restore and sync errors you have on Windows Vista and Windows 7. It only starts restoring and syncing properly on Windows XP. I've tried downgrading to an itunes version that worked for me on Vista before, but Apple have updated the ipod touch firmware so that its not supported anymore by the earlier versions of itunes.
Apple phone support is a waste of time. They want to charge me £25 before they are interested in helping as they say my ipod is out of warranty - but its not the ipod that's broken, its the poorly written ITUNES, so why shouldn't I get free support for itunes even though my IPOD, which is perfectly fine, is out of warranty?!
Truth is, now apple has your money, they don't care...

  • Tons of errors with sync and restore

Let me state first, that this iPod Classic i brand new, and has latest software installed. So does my Mac Mini (also brand new). All latest software is installed.
I have a large library, therefore i chose a Classic. From the very first sync, errors startet happening.
First Error: After setting up the iPod, asking to sync entire library, the iPod failed after 2 hours or so.
After it failed, i unplugged and saw, that it had transfered 500 songs successfully, and played them as it should.
I plugged it in after 10 minutes of play, to sync again.
iTunes warns, that it has found an iPod that needs to be restored.... WHY? It was working fine!
iPod cannot Restore, it is in use?!?
I finally get it restored, and start over with the sync. I go through step 1 again.
iPod will not restore, at all. Not untill i run a repair from Disc Utility.
After 4 attempts, i finally get no errors on the disc in Disc Utility. I had to completely format the disc, and reinstall the iPod.
It is syncing now! 30 tracks at the time, then this error happens, "iTunes could not copy %songname%, archive does not exist". My iTunes is in Danish, so i am unsure of the English wording of that error.
I try syncing again, works fine for 30 tracks, then same error. This has been going on for the last 20 attempts of syncing.
Anyone have any idea, of what is going on? I am not far from taking it back to the store and requesting af replacement device, or money back for that matter.

I would do the following.  Shut down (power off) the Mac mini.  Disconnect all USB devices (you can leave standard USB keyboard/mouse connected if used).  Start up the Mac mini.
Since the iPod may have some data corruption issues, put it into Disk Mode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1363
On the Mac mini, run iTunes, and connect the iPod (in Disk Mode) by itself to a direct USB port on the Mac mini.  iTunes should prompt you to do a Restore.  Do the Restore.  During the Restore process, elect NOT to sync any songs to the iPod.
In iTunes, if the sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  The iPod should appear in the sidebar, under DEVICES, after the Restore.  Select it there.  To the right, the iPod's Summary screen is shown.  Toward the top, there is a bar of buttons starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This Music screen is where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music.  This is the switch to enable automatic syncing.  Choose the option to sync Entire music library.  Click Apply.  Hopefully it goes through the sync process properly this time.

  • My sister forgot her password to her ipod that she gave me and I have no idea on how to reset it, I downloaded itunes on my computer and tried to sync and restore but it said I had to sync it to the original computer but I dont have it

So yea my sister gave me her ipod touch and forgot her password, so I looked up how to restore it and it would not let me because it said I needed to sync the ipod up to the computer it had originally been synced to. Im nowhere near that computer and I just need to know is there another way I can restore to factory settings?

Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs and then restore via iTunes.:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    Installs blootware on PC too
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
Try on another computer too and try another cable.

  • Sync and restore

    Hi,
A friend just sync his iphone with his laptop and accidentally he lost all his data, especially his graduation photos. He had his photo stream on but i think the photo stream on iPhonto is off. Is there any way to bring them back?
    Thanks a lot.

Check if he made a back up on itunes or icloud. If he has a recent back up restore from the back up and it ill bring back the photos that were on the phone when the back up was made.
In terms of photo stream those photos should still be in the cloud unless he deleted them from photostream. get him to check photos>photostream.
