Syncing Apps from iPhone...manual fix not working...

Similar problem to what others have experienced...however when I manually select "transfer purchases from iPhone) from iTunes the transfer stalls almost immediately.

In iTunes, go into the AppStore (not on the phone, but computer) and just redownload them. If you paid for them once already, it will NOT recharge you.
Of course use the same account you used on the phone.

  • Transfer apps from iPhone to iTunes not working

I have tried this on iTunes 8.0.1, 8.0.2 and 2.1, 2.2 firmware without success. For a good while now, I installed apps directly onto to my iPhone and never bothered to sync up regularly. As a result, I have over 20 apps on my phone that are not on iTunes. Last week when I finally sycn with iTunes, it usually hung on copying the first app for a long time and if I leave it on long enough, it shows that all the apps are copied. Yet when I check iTunes apps, they don't show up. I have tried this many times without any success. Does anyone know a remedy for this?

  • Syncing Apps from iPhone to iTunes with folder grouping

    Hi,
I have close to 200 apps on my iPhone structured into approx 50 folders.
These apps are downloaded firectly from iTunes (via wifi).
Now, i want to sync them to my PC via iTunes.
I used the option "Transfer purchases" for that.
But the folder are not synced.
If choose Sync App options, i am afraid i will loose all my folders and it will really time consuming to create them again.
How can get my folders and Apps from iPhone to iTunes ?
    Regards,
    Ashwani Kr Sharma

Apps are transferred automatically (most of the time, that is!) during the backup that runs prior to the sync (unless you've disabled backup)
If you are syncing your apps, you will see (in the app sync pane) a visual representative of your phone, all pages, and that includes the folders. You will not lose any of them.
Like ChrisJ4203 says, you need to be syncing to the same iTunes library as your Apple ID on your phone, and that iTunes library must be authorized by you.

  • Syncing contacts FROM IPhone MANUAL.  PC

So this is basically a continuation of bsohl's thread Syncing Contacts FROM iPhone?.
For those of you that are in a similar situation to this:
    1. You're on a PC.
    2. Your primary storage space for contacts is your phone.
    3. Your email client isn't compatable with ITunes.
    4. You want to back up your contacts.
Follow these few steps to make your backup happen:
    1. Sign up for a new yahoo email address.
    2. In the info tab in ITunes select Sync Contacts with Yahoo Address Book.
    3. At the prompt enter in your new yahoo email address and password.
    4. Hit 'apply'. At this point you may have to hit sync or it might just do it automatically. I can't remember.
    Here comes the magic
    5. You will see the following prompt: http://a425.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/89/l_dfc21c0b2fd5015780fbaad7fddb3 798.gif
    6. Select 'merge'.
    7. Wait a few seconds.
    8. Check your contacts in your yahoo email account and they should all be there.
    9. Sweet!
    10. Good luck.

You can also sync your contacts to Microsoft Address Book. Go to the info pane with your phone connected to change the settings.
Your iphone backup also contains your contact info. So before you sync, back up your phone manually, here's how to:
Disable autosync in iTunes/settings/devices, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your phone without syncing.
Do the same to transfer your purchases by choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the phone for the first time.

  • Syncing apps FROM iPhone TO ITunes and retaining app folder structure

How can you retain the app folder structure you have painstakingly created on your iPhone (OS4.3) when syncing apps with iTunes?
It seems that it only works the other way - i.e. creating the structure in iTunes and having that copied to the iPhone when syncing apps.
I know this has been posted in various ways before, but there seems to be no answer, and Apple appear either not to understand the question, or its importance to so many users.
Anyone found a way of doing this yet - or Apple - please can we have this fixed?

Thanks Mr. Gnome I was aware of that - it was a rhetorical question as far as Apple are concerned, but I do hope someone out there may have found a way around this illogical glitch.

  • Syncing Apps from iPhone to iTunes and back

I've transferred my apps from the iPhone to iTunes by clicking on "Transfer Purchases" That's all good so now they both have the same apps.
I've installed the latest ver of iTunes so ultimately it allows us to re-arrange the pages of apps on the iPhone through iTunes.
When the checkbox "Sync Applications" is unchecked I can see my apps as arranged on the iPhone, when I check it everything is different. That's not what I want as it tells me my settings will be copied from iTunes to iPhone.
What I want is for it to recognise my latest apps setup on my iPhone and THEN allow me to re-arrange it from iTunes before syncing.
    How can I do this?
Extra info: This is for my MBP, I've synced it with my PC and I think that has the latest settings I'm not too sure.

As already mentioned, you can only sync to one computer at a time. To be able to go back to your computer, disable autosync in itunes, connect your phone and right click on it in the device list and choose Backup. Transfer your purchases the same way after that. Then sync your phone. All media content will be erased during this process, but you can restore your phone from the manual backup you made before. • Syncing Apps from iPhone 3GS to 4S

    Hey folks,
I recently upgraded from iPhone 3GS to iPhone 4S. I synced up my 3GS to iTunes and then connected my new phone. When I synced them I chose the restore from existing option. This worked great and I have all of my messages, email account settings, Photos etc etc. However, None of my Apps have been transferred to the new device. How do I get all of my Apps from the 3GS to the 4S??
    Any help would be great!

  • Trouble Syncing Apps from iPhone 3GS to iTunes 10.2.1.

I have yet to update my iPhone 3GS to the newest OS because of an on-going issue I have been having with syncing my purchased apps on iTunes 10.2.1. Despite having authorized my computer and re-installing both iTunes and Quicktime, every time I try to sync my apps, I receive an error message that says that it was unable to sync my purchased apps because my computer has not been authorized. Since I did authorize my computer, this is obviously not true. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions for how to fix it? Thanks!

  • Printing from iphone/ipad does not work after ios5 upgrade

have a Brother HL-2140 that would print and show up as the "printer" when printing from an iPhone/iPad thru an Airport Extreme. Everything worked fine till upgrading to ios5 ... now the option for printing is replaced with an "no airprint printer found" ... meanwhile I can still print through the network wirelessly through multiple MacBook Pros and MacBooks around the house. I have re-installed the driver from the Bother website ... I have the Printer Sharing on ... the network allows wireless printing from laptops ... just NOT from iPhones and iPads.

Today's iOS 6.1 update fixed the printer problem.

  • Syncing Apps from Iphone to Itunes and vice versa, quick question.

Hello, so I had a small question to ask about transferring apps from both the iphone to itunes.
Basically, I downloaded an app from the app store ON my iphone.
I've made a lot of progress and have a lot of data in this app.
The(Sync app) box was never checked on my itunes, so I transferred my purchases from my iphone to my itunes, and now i've downloaded a few more apps (over 20mb) ON itunes that I want to put on my iphone.
Thing is, when I click "sync apps" it gives me a warning saying something along the lines of "Apps in itunes will replace all in iphone, including data"
Now, i've already transferred my purchases, so all the apps from my phone are on itunes, but if I sync, will I lose the DATA in my apps on my iphone? Or will the data remain in those apps?
Basically, will syncing my apps replace my settings/data/progress of the apps I have on my iphone?

There is no data in the apps themselves. Your app data is stored in the backup file iTunes creates. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
From Page 179 of http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iphone_userguide.pdf, "You can reinstall an app and restore its data as long as you backed up iPhone with iTunes on your computer. (If you try to delete an app that hasn’t been backed up to your computer, an alert appears.) To retrieve the app data, you must restore iPhone from a backup containing the data."
So, make a backup before you click the "Sync apps button. Then, you may have to restore your phone from that backup to reload the data.

  • Syncing Apps from iPhone 3 to iPhone 4

I've just upgraded my phone 3 to 4 and managed to sync all my personal info apart from my purchased Apps. They no longer appear.
How do I get them back??

All iTunes content on your iPhone should be in your iTunes library on your computer - all music, movies, tv shows, and 3rd party apps. Did you have Sync Apps selected under the Apps tab for your iPhone 3G or 3GS sync preferences with iTunes? If so, all apps installed on your 3G or 3GS should be in your iTunes library. If not, you need to transfer the apps from your 3G or 3GS to your iTunes library followed by selecting Sync Apps under the Apps tab for your iPhone 4 sync preferences with iTunes, selecting the apps below that you want installed on your iPhone 4 followed by a sync.

  • Lost photos updating to 4, iphone explorer fix not working.

    History of my update.
    First attempt.
Using my offices PC, I plugged my 3G in and it proceeded to start backing up. It proceeds very slowly, and stops before it completes backup.
I figure in order to speed up the backup, I will delete all my free apps on my phone manually. I don't have many apps, I left the one app that actually cost me something.
I plug it in to my wifes macbook, the backup completes a lot quicker. I unplug the phone just to let it do it one more time. We then download the OS 4 update.
I plug the phone back in to update my phone to the new OS. It starts doing a backup which appears to go EXTREMELY slow. It's late so I went to bed, wake up the next morning with OS 4 running but all 1800 of my pictures are gone except the first 30 or so I took when I got the phone, and my guitar tuner app that I left on the phone is also gone.
We checked the mobile backups and there are no backup files on my wifes mac.
I read about the iphone explorer fix. we download it, and there aren't any files in the media folder to show.
I have most of my important pictures on facebook, but it would be nice to get them all back.
I'm not very technical, obviously, any help would be appreciated.

  • Authorization error when syncing apps from iphone to mac, mac to iphone

I am having this error with both apps I've synced from my iPhone to my Mac, and one I purchased from ITunes (which as a side problem, I can not sync to my iPhone no matter what I try). I have one iTunes account and it is the same on my computer and on my iPhone. However, the one I bought on my mac I can't authorize on my computer, and I can't sync some back because I get this same error message (I have all the latest software on phone and Mac):
THERE WAS AN ERROR STORING YOUR AUTHORIZATION INFORMATION ON THIS COMPUTER
The required directory was not found or has a permission error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions can not be changed.
Is this just becuase these apps aren't made to USE on a computer? Because that would make sense. I'm just worried it has something to do with the app I purchased on ITunes not syncing back to my iPhone.

I created a new user on my macbook and tried to authorize the computer but got the same authorization error. This doesn't have to do with the fact that I have once used a different iTunes account? (not since I have had the iPhone. I have tried to figure out how to delete this but it looks as if apple doesn't want me to.) Plus, it's the same email as my dot mac which I've ALSO been having trouble with the past few months-- it keeps resetting on its own and my keychain and iphone can't get into it. online chat has not solved the problem so i decided to just let it expire...
Ive been using a mac for 15 years and have never had as many problems as i've had these past few months.
