Syncing Apps from iPhone to iTunes with folder grouping

Hi,
I have close to 200 apps on my iPhone structured into approx 50 folders.
These apps are downloaded firectly from iTunes (via wifi).
Now, i want to sync them to my PC via iTunes.
I used the option "Transfer purchases" for that.
But the folder are not synced.
If choose Sync App options, i am afraid i will loose all my folders and it will really time consuming to create them again.
How can get my folders and Apps from iPhone to iTunes ?
Regards,
Ashwani Kr Sharma

Apps are transferred automatically (most of the time, that is!) during the backup that runs prior to the sync (unless you've disabled backup)
If you are syncing your apps, you will see (in the app sync pane) a visual representative of your phone, all pages, and that includes the folders. You will not lose any of them.
Like ChrisJ4203 says, you need to be syncing to the same iTunes library as your Apple ID on your phone, and that iTunes library must be authorized by you.

  • Syncing apps FROM iPhone TO ITunes and retaining app folder structure

How can you retain the app folder structure you have painstakingly created on your iPhone (OS4.3) when syncing apps with iTunes?
It seems that it only works the other way - i.e. creating the structure in iTunes and having that copied to the iPhone when syncing apps.
I know this has been posted in various ways before, but there seems to be no answer, and Apple appear either not to understand the question, or its importance to so many users.
Anyone found a way of doing this yet - or Apple - please can we have this fixed?

Thanks Mr. Gnome I was aware of that - it was a rhetorical question as far as Apple are concerned, but I do hope someone out there may have found a way around this illogical glitch.

  • Syncing apps FROM IPHONE TO ITUNES!!!

The Iphone allows you to download apps onto the phone __from the phone__ but I can't find how to sync those apps I bought via the phone with apps in my Itunes library...???!~!!! It appears as though I will loose those apps if I upgrade my software version.

And after transferring purchases from your iPhone and confirming all 3rd party apps on your iPhone are now in your iTunes library, select Sync Apps under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes and make sure all apps currently installed on your iPhone are selected below. Select Apply.
Now after downloading an app direct with your iPhone, the app will be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so.

  • Syncing Apps from Iphone to Itunes and vice versa, quick question.

Hello, so I had a small question to ask about transferring apps from both the iphone to itunes.
Basically, I downloaded an app from the app store ON my iphone.
I've made a lot of progress and have a lot of data in this app.
The(Sync app) box was never checked on my itunes, so I transferred my purchases from my iphone to my itunes, and now i've downloaded a few more apps (over 20mb) ON itunes that I want to put on my iphone.
Thing is, when I click "sync apps" it gives me a warning saying something along the lines of "Apps in itunes will replace all in iphone, including data"
Now, i've already transferred my purchases, so all the apps from my phone are on itunes, but if I sync, will I lose the DATA in my apps on my iphone? Or will the data remain in those apps?
Basically, will syncing my apps replace my settings/data/progress of the apps I have on my iphone?

There is no data in the apps themselves. Your app data is stored in the backup file iTunes creates. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
From Page 179 of http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iphone_userguide.pdf, "You can reinstall an app and restore its data as long as you backed up iPhone with iTunes on your computer. (If you try to delete an app that hasn’t been backed up to your computer, an alert appears.) To retrieve the app data, you must restore iPhone from a backup containing the data."
So, make a backup before you click the "Sync apps button. Then, you may have to restore your phone from that backup to reload the data.

  • Syncing Apps from iPhone to iTunes and back

I've transferred my apps from the iPhone to iTunes by clicking on "Transfer Purchases" That's all good so now they both have the same apps.
I've installed the latest ver of iTunes so ultimately it allows us to re-arrange the pages of apps on the iPhone through iTunes.
When the checkbox "Sync Applications" is unchecked I can see my apps as arranged on the iPhone, when I check it everything is different. That's not what I want as it tells me my settings will be copied from iTunes to iPhone.
What I want is for it to recognise my latest apps setup on my iPhone and THEN allow me to re-arrange it from iTunes before syncing.
    How can I do this?
Extra info: This is for my MBP, I've synced it with my PC and I think that has the latest settings I'm not too sure.

As already mentioned, you can only sync to one computer at a time. To be able to go back to your computer, disable autosync in itunes, connect your phone and right click on it in the device list and choose Backup. Transfer your purchases the same way after that. Then sync your phone. All media content will be erased during this process, but you can restore your phone from the manual backup you made before. • How do I sync apps FROM iPhone TO iTunes?

I don't want to lose all the folders with apps I have on my iPhone when synching to iTunes. The playlists, movies, etc. I can create without much headache.
I have right-clicked on my device and selected "transfer purchases," but when I checkmark "sync apps," I still get that annoying "are you sure you want to sync apps? ..." warning.
I'm running on iTunes 10.3.1.55 now because the upgrade to iTunes 10.4 locked me out of the iTunes Store and Apple couldn't figure out why
    Suggestions?

    are you positive,
    No.  I'm lying to you.
Of course i'm positive.  I, and countless others download apps to their phones all the time that end up syncing back to their iTunes library on the computer.

  • I cannot sync apps from Iphone to Itunes. Itunes says apps cannot be determined.

  • How do you get voice memos from iphone onto itunes with MANUAL sync?

Ok, the iphone voice record function... I can't get the voice memos onto itunes or my computer. I don't use the autosync function, I like to manage my music and such manually.
I cannot find a way to manually access the voice memos on my iphone through itunes. Many of them are too large to email so I'm stuck.
The only option seems to be auto-sync, and if I do turn on the sync function at this point, itunes will completely erase my iphone and the voice memos I've recorded on it. Kind of defeats the purpose.
    Any tips?
I've looked at a lot of posts and haven't found anything to help here. Just a bunch of posts complaining about how bad the voice recorder feature is integrated into the new iphone 3.0 software.
    i'm using a 32gb 3gs.

Sorry for bumping an old topic, but I'm not quite sure if there is a solution to this.
I have the same desire as OP, but yet I do not see my voice memos automatically syncing when I have manual sync selected. I also do not see a playlist folder or anything that indicates voice memos have transferred. Am I missing something? Is there no way to get voice memos onto the computer without having to autosync it?
If someone can provide more details on how to do this, that'd be great. But it seems at this point that I cannot get voice memos onto my computer through iTunes with manual sync on.

  • ITunes wont sync apps from iPhone

  • Removing Apps from iPhone using iTunes Apps Sync Apps doesn't work

Im trying to manage the space on my iPhone 4 16GB, so when I go on hiloday I have enough space for photos and vacation movies.
When plugged in, iTunes shows my apps in the Apps tab. (it actually shows an extra page of apps which are not installed on my phone)
In iTunes I used to hover over an app, click the x to remove, confirm the prompt to delete and finally, sync. The app was gone from my phone.
    Now this doesnt work.
The other way was to uncheck the app from my list of apps (in iTunes Apps tab), and then sync.
    This doesnt work either.
I'm sure I used to use this method previously.
This is especially handy because itunes lists the applications by size, so I can easily see the ones that will free up the most space.
Is there any way to remove apps from the iPhone WITHOUT DOING IT ON THE PHONE?
Note: I have 'Sync Apps' ticked & 'automatically sync new apps' unticked.
    Im running:
    Macbook Air 2012
    OS X 10.8.1 64 Bit
    Itunes 10.7(21) 64 Bit
    iPhone 4 iOS 6.0 (10A403)

  • How do I sync voicememo from IPhone to itune?

It works the first time..but I don't know what I did wrong. I was deleting something because it kept transfering the old voicememo from itune to my IPhone. Now it doesn't sync any voicememos recorded on my IPhone or even the old ones I have to Itune. I already clicked "include voice memo", and it shows in playlist, but it doesn't show anything on voicemmo page. It doesn't show "voice memo" as playlist on music page either.
I would like to sync only the new voicememo recorded in my IPhone to Itune. Thanks

I know exactly what you're going through. I may win the prize for having the most number of photos on my iPhone (2,397) that couldn't get downloaded. I have never been able to export photos from my iPhone to any of my Macs using iPhoto or Image Capture. (And yes, all OS and apps are the latest revisions). Nor have any of the popular apps like Picasa2, Adobe Photoshop Elements, or Windows native Camera & Scanner Wizard been able to do it on my Windows machines. BUT, the only 3rd party app that I had any success with was the Tansee iPhone Transfer Photo program. It downloaded 884 photos from my iPhone before that app stopped working, for some reason. It cost $20USD and works on Windows only. You may have better luck than I downloading all your photos.

  • Syncing Apps from Iphone

    Hey world wide internets.
My dilemma is that when I set up my iphone after restoring, itunes didn't automatically select to sync my apps with my PC. Happily unaware of this I have downloaded well over 3.6g of apps to my iphone. However now I want to update my Iphone to the latest software and upon attempting to do so I was alerted that I should sync my apps first. Although when I go to select the sync apps button it states that all the apps off my iphone + their associated saved information will be replaced with the apps from my itunes library! And when I do select this option it shows me what my iphone home screen will look like... it is default! I really want to update and I want to keep my apps. I know it used to say upon syncing 'Would you like to transfer app purchases to itunes' - obviously doesnt because I didn't tell it to in the beginning...
Is there a way to transfer all my apps off my iphone to itunes?

With your phone connected, iTunes running: File>Transfer Purchases.

  • Syncing Apps from iPhone 3 to iPhone 4

I've just upgraded my phone 3 to 4 and managed to sync all my personal info apart from my purchased Apps. They no longer appear.
How do I get them back??

All iTunes content on your iPhone should be in your iTunes library on your computer - all music, movies, tv shows, and 3rd party apps. Did you have Sync Apps selected under the Apps tab for your iPhone 3G or 3GS sync preferences with iTunes? If so, all apps installed on your 3G or 3GS should be in your iTunes library. If not, you need to transfer the apps from your 3G or 3GS to your iTunes library followed by selecting Sync Apps under the Apps tab for your iPhone 4 sync preferences with iTunes, selecting the apps below that you want installed on your iPhone 4 followed by a sync.
