I have a new computer and want to sync my phone and all it's apps to my new computer. How do I do this without loosing all of my apps?

I have a new computer cause the other one crashed, and I've tried this but didn't succeed. It seems to be working and when iTunes ask if I want to use the new properties and I press ok, nothing has been done, and there's no programs in my iTunes program libary?
It want me to update an empty iTunes libary even if I try to import buying from my iPhone.
Unfortunately the answer is not very helpful to me.

If the photos on your iPhone were not TAKEN by the iPhone (i.e. they were synced from a computer with iTunes or another program), they cannot be recovered.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss. To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

Can't sync apps from iPhone to new media library

I created a new media library for iTunes because my old library had become a mess. With this library open in iTunes, I plugged in my phone and had no trouble syncing music to this library in place of the old one. However, when I go to the apps tab, it shows the preview of my home screen with my apps on it but it doesn't list any of my apps in the left hand bar that would let me know this media library has my apps. How can I get this new media library in iTunes to recognize the apps on my phone and then my phone can sync apps with this new library and not the old one?

Syncing apps from iphone 4 to new imac

I just bought a new imac. I synced my iphone 4 to the new mac to transfer my data for first time from phone to computer. contacts and calendar worked but my apps won't transfer. if i click sync apps on the preferences,it says the apps will delete from my phone.
how do i copy the apps successfully to my new computer so i have a backup? thanks

Give this a try:
1. With iTunes open, select Store from the menu bar
2. Select "Authorize this computer"
3. Fill in your AppleID information and click "Authorize"
4. Select File from the menu bar and select "Transfer Purchases from iPhone"

Syncing Apps from iPhone to iTunes with folder grouping

Hi,
I have close to 200 apps on my iPhone structured into approx 50 folders.
These apps are downloaded firectly from iTunes (via wifi).
Now, i want to sync them to my PC via iTunes.
I used the option "Transfer purchases" for that.
But the folder are not synced.
If choose Sync App options, i am afraid i will loose all my folders and it will really time consuming to create them again.
How can get my folders and Apps from iPhone to iTunes ?

Apps are transferred automatically (most of the time, that is!) during the backup that runs prior to the sync (unless you've disabled backup)
If you are syncing your apps, you will see (in the app sync pane) a visual representative of your phone, all pages, and that includes the folders. You will not lose any of them.
Like ChrisJ4203 says, you need to be syncing to the same iTunes library as your Apple ID on your phone, and that iTunes library must be authorized by you.

I'v lost all my information on my old pc and now I've bought new pc and installed itunes on it.
now I want to sync all my app to itunes and get full backup from my iphone to pc but just 49 apps out of 313 apps can be transfered.
what should I do to transfer all 313 apps of my iphone to my new pc.
by the way I bought 40% of these apps and I have new version of itunes on my pc

You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc. Use this to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy (not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases
The music sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases.

Authorization error when syncing apps from iphone to mac, mac to iphone

I am having this error with both apps I've synced from my iPhone to my Mac, and one I purchased from ITunes (which as a side problem, I can not sync to my iPhone no matter what I try). I have one iTunes account and it is the same on my computer and on my iPhone. However, the one I bought on my mac I can't authorize on my computer, and I can't sync some back because I get this same error message (I have all the latest software on phone and Mac):
THERE WAS AN ERROR STORING YOUR AUTHORIZATION INFORMATION ON THIS COMPUTER
The required directory was not found or has a permission error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions can not be changed.
Is this just becuase these apps aren't made to USE on a computer? Because that would make sense. I'm just worried it has something to do with the app I purchased on ITunes not syncing back to my iPhone.

I created a new user on my macbook and tried to authorize the computer but got the same authorization error. This doesn't have to do with the fact that I have once used a different iTunes account? (not since I have had the iPhone. I have tried to figure out how to delete this but it looks as if apple doesn't want me to.) Plus, it's the same email as my dot mac which I've ALSO been having trouble with the past few months-- it keeps resetting on its own and my keychain and iphone can't get into it. online chat has not solved the problem so i decided to just let it expire...

WIFI sync iPad and iPhone with new computer?

Bought my iPad in the fall, but didn't sync with my iMac because it was old and performing miserably, and because I was waiting for the MacMini to get a refresh so I could use it as a Media Center. Well, now I have my shiny new MacMini, but when I go to my iPad settings to do a wifi sync, it says it will sync next time I'm near my friend's computer. This is strange, because the only time I've EVER hooked up to a computer was once, at his house, to charge up and copy a book I wanted. I did not do anything except drag the book to my iPad in the Devices list on the left (older version of iTunes). I've read on other boards that I have to right click on my iPad and "transfer purchases" but when I connect my iPad to the MacMini by USB, all it gives me is the "Welcome to your new iPad" screen, with the option to set up as a new iPad or restore from a backup. Right clicking merely asks me to eject or restore. The only backup listed is dated April 21, 2011, which is an old iPad that was stolen. I've been backing up this current iPad with iCloud and have never had a problem, but it would be nice to sync over wifi if i want to copy files or music, instead of relying on Dropbox all the time.
Simillarly, when I try to sync my iPhone, I get as far as the syncing options, but when I go to apply the changes, it warns me that my phone is synced with another computer and that I can proceed if I want to erase this phone and sync the contents with my current library. In both situations, I'm afraid to proceed because I don't want to lose vital work information that has been stored in various apps. Any words of advice here? I know my apps are backed up, but I don't want to be surprised by finding out that the apps were backed up, but not the data I entered into them. I previously followed a tutorial which claimed I could copy and edit a file from the original iMac and transfer it to the MacMini, forcing it to recognize my new compurer as the original library... so when I open iTunes on the new computer, it does load up the iPhone and recognize it over wifi, and I can fiddle with options without having to connect via USB... but I get halted by that warning, and the settings app on the phone itself still indicates my original library as the one it needs for wifi sync. I should also add that my original iMac indicates that I need a newer version of iTunes to connect with my iPhone's iOS, but it is also too old (it's Lion) to upgrade iTunes beyond it's current version. I feel like with all this amazing technology, the options for a person who buys a new computer but doesn't want to migrate the clustered mess of their old system... still shamefully limited... unless I'm missing something.

Hmm. That sounds easy enough... but how do I backup to the new computer when it doesn't give me the option? When I connect the iPad via USB, it asks me to:
• set up as a new IPad
• restore from a previous backup (where the only backup listed in the drop down menu is a stolen iPad with outdated information, dated April of 2011. It doesn't ask to restore from iCloud where this current iPad is backed up.)
If you're suggesting that I back up both devices to iCloud and then wipe them, then plug them into the new computer and restore from the iCloud backup, so that my new computer considers these new devices, that makes sense... except that I don't see an option to restore from iCloud. Does that option appear later? And is it absolutely certain that any app I have entered data into will restore that information as well, and not just the app? For example, if I have an index card app which I make essay notes in, will those notes definitely be backed up along with the app? Or just the app? I can't afford to lose all my work data.

Transferring from iphone to new computer

I have all my apps and songs library on my work computer and having just had my home computer repaired I want to sync all my iphone contents to this computer. However everytime I go to the itunes it says it will erase contents off my iphone and replace with library which is empty. How can I get it to copy everything from my iphone to this new library. I have authorised this computer.
Please help. I would like to have this library as a backup to my work one.

Here is my problem. I was on vacation recently <Africa>, using my aunt's computer when we lost power during a complete i phone reload. i was able to get it to reload all of the data. But now that i am back home, on our computer, every time i try to reload the applications, it says that all previous applications will be erased. See i have over half of the applications cost money, and i do not want to pay more money to get these applications back. Can anyone help me. ??

Hey folks,
I recently upgraded from iPhone 3GS to iPhone 4S. I synced up my 3GS to iTunes and then connected my new phone. When I synced them I chose the restore from existing option. This worked great and I have all of my messages, email account settings, Photos etc etc. However, None of my Apps have been transferred to the new device. How do I get all of my Apps from the 3GS to the 4S??

Hello, so I had a small question to ask about transferring apps from both the iphone to itunes.
Basically, I downloaded an app from the app store ON my iphone.
I've made a lot of progress and have a lot of data in this app.
The(Sync app) box was never checked on my itunes, so I transferred my purchases from my iphone to my itunes, and now i've downloaded a few more apps (over 20mb) ON itunes that I want to put on my iphone.
Thing is, when I click "sync apps" it gives me a warning saying something along the lines of "Apps in itunes will replace all in iphone, including data"
Now, i've already transferred my purchases, so all the apps from my phone are on itunes, but if I sync, will I lose the DATA in my apps on my iphone? Or will the data remain in those apps?
Basically, will syncing my apps replace my settings/data/progress of the apps I have on my iphone?

There is no data in the apps themselves. Your app data is stored in the backup file iTunes creates. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
From Page 179 of http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iphone_userguide.pdf, "You can reinstall an app and restore its data as long as you backed up iPhone with iTunes on your computer. (If you try to delete an app that hasn’t been backed up to your computer, an alert appears.) To retrieve the app data, you must restore iPhone from a backup containing the data."
So, make a backup before you click the "Sync apps button. Then, you may have to restore your phone from that backup to reload the data.
