Syncing apps on different devices - will data get wiped or mixed up?

My family has three iPod/iPhones and one iPad that all have the same apps (ie: Tiny Zoo, Angry Birds, etc.) but with different saved data. When I sync the devices via iTunes (same account), will each device still have it's own saved data?

- If the items are not on the computer/iTunes library, they will not be on the iPod after.
Unless you do something the photos will be lost too. The message says the iPod will be erased.
- What you want to do is to makee sure everthing is on the new computer. Then connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up. The restore from backup. The backup contains app data, photos/videos take by or saved to the iPod. It does not contain app, music and and other stuff that is synced to the iPod like synced photos.

Hi - I am not sure if this is the right place for this question, but maybe someone can help me out. My school district purchased an app that can be loaded on up to 5 devices. The district does not have their own Itunes account, so it was loaded on to someones personal Itunes account (with all of her personal purchases as well). I am trying to figure out how to get just this app onto my device, and then not have to use her account for anything else? My question then is, once she loads it onto my IPad, how do I go and sync to a different ITunes account - is that even possible? Hope this makes sense to someone....! Any help would be appreciated.

When iCloud is enabled for apps, if I delete an app off one device will it be deleted off of all devices?

I'm still trying to get used to iOS5 and iCloud. I currently have an iPhone 4 and the wife has the 4S. If I download/delete an app on my 4 will iCloud automatically transition the same app/remove the same app to her 4S? Does the same hold true for the iPad 2? Any additional information regarding the nuances of iCloud would also be appreciated. Thanks.

No if you delete the app off of the iOS device IPad/iPhone/iPod Touch it will be in your iTunes account so whenever you want to download it again just go to the app store and go to purchased in the update iOS 5.1.1 but in iCloud it save exactly what was happening on the app. Example: I have grand theft auto 3 and I “accidentally” deleted it and so I restored from iCloud and it had the exact same place I had last saved but if I just downloaded it again I would have lost my saved game and would have had to start over. iTunes saves your purchases and iCloud saves the data (if you know what I mean).

Sync apps are different on my computer from my iPhone

We have 3 iPod's and my iPhone. The apps on my computer are different than the ones on my iPhone. They are a combination of the wife's and both my sons apps. If I click on SYNC APPS, it tells me that all apps on the iPhone will be lost.
How can I fix this? Do I need to delete iTunes and reinstall it?

Which apps? Where are you downloading from? Which browser? Version?
Please detail ALL you have done so far in the way of troubleshooting? Need this info to avoid the been there done that scenarios.

How to manage my kids apps on different devices when they dont have an Apple ID

I have been using my apple id to download apps, games etc... for my sons ipod touch. Hes not old enough to have his own id and now it looks like a credit card is required anyways? Whats the deal with that? I want to be able to keep my sons games and apps off of our ipad and visa versa when I sync each of the devices. I have him set up on our imac with his own login, but what's the best way for me to keep our apps, movies and music separate if I have to use my apple id to download for both devices?

Ok, title says most of it. I'm dealing with only an iphone and a touch right now but another iphone is coming but all the goofy apps my son likes my wife doesn't want on her iphone. Can you make playlists?

It won't sync anything that you do not select.
You do not have to select them each time. Once you make your selections, they will not change unless you change them.

[HOW TO] Sync contacts across different devices.

Well recently ran into a problem, i had to get a new phone due iphone giving up the ghost, so switched to a Android device, now i wanted to transfer all my contacts over from my iphone to my android.
I followed countless instructions, but always faced the same hurdles, itunes failed to sync my contacts to google via itunes, it just kept getting stuck in the enter pass word loop, which no one seems to be able to fix.
I then tried adding an exchange account, but this also failed, it failed at the login, then even when i finally got it to login, it failed to sync with no user input to tell it to sync it was looking bleak.
With frustration i tried adding a CardDAV account, this too kept failing on the varification process.
At this point it seemed that OS was doing all it could to stop me syncing my contacts to move them to a new device.
So i thought id search the App store for something that would do the job for me.
And now im here.
First off if you have faced the same issues as me, then please save your self a head ache and just do this.
On your iphone > app store > search for NQ contacts sync.
Download and install it.
On your Adroid device > Play store > search NQ contacts sync.
Download and install it.
On your iphone, open NQ contacts that has now installed on your iphone, create new account, put in your email, and chose a password (not the same one you use for your email account) once created, drag your finger from the bottom of the screen (still in HQ) from the icon that shows your contacts, to the cloud on the top of the screen. this will transfer your contacts to NQ servers.
On your Android device, sign in with the NQ account you just made. it will automatically sync your contacts to your android device.
Job done.

Why it takes a third party app to actually do a hassle free contacts transfer is beyond me, between google and apple i was about to throw both phones out of the window and go back to using a note pad and a house phone, they have made it so complicated that it causes more hassle than its worth.
And no i have nothing to do with NQ, i just found it so frigging easy to do something two major companys couldnt get wright in the first place i thought id share to help others out.

Before I go crazy purchasing apps, does anyone know if I would be able to sync purchased apps to both the iPhone and iPod Touch?

Yes you can.
I installed Super Monkeyball to my iPhone, wife's iPhone and iPod Touch.
I am not sure how many iPods/iPhones one can install on but I believe that each device can contain only one appleid (go into the App Store and scroll to the very bottom to see the last appleid which was sync'd) and if you change after the DRM probably won't allow existing apps to work.
It gets a little confusing when using a 2nd computer that is authorized under itunes account. If I click to purchase on 2nd computer with a different iPhone, it says I have already purchased and can download for free which is no problem, but does not make it clear on 2nd computer what I already have purchased. I suppose I could copy the .ipa files and manually move to the 2nd machine.

I have an iphone which I sync mainly with my home mac for music, videos, photos, and apps.
I also sync the iphone with my work windows PC for contacts and calendars.
Both the mac and the PC are authorised on my same iTunes account.
From time to time, I buy apps from my work PC, when they're on sale and because they're too large to download under 3G. (no wifi at work)
But I don't know how to get those apps on the iPhone then ? I didn"t try to sync the iphone with the PC for apps, as I am afraid this will break everything.
I tried to copy the .ipa files from the PC to the mac with a USB key, but then iTunes on the mac don't seem to "see" those IPAs...
So what is the solution ?

So, if I do that, I'll transfer all the apps from the iPod to my brother's computer and then I'll just need to sync everything back to my iPod... and I'll also need to do the same thing with my mac, in order not to lose the apps that I copied from my brother's pc, right?

Does syncing apps to itunes save game data

I want to know if I sync my apps to iTunes (which I do) does it save my game data/levels/files.
I recently had to restore my iPod Touch 4g and when I got my apps back from iTunes my game files were saved but they were old versions. I synced to iTunes just the day before I had to restore. But my game levels were that of 1 week ago. So how do I sync my game levels so that if I ever have to restore again I will have my levels. Thanks.

App data and settings are part of the backup. But, as every backup replaces the old one, you'll have to include your backup folder in your computer backup routine, to be sure to have several backups to go back.
Only if you use a backup to restore from, iTunes will create a new one and mark the old one with a time stamp.

How do I prevent iTunes 11 from syncing apps with my devices?

I want to be able to sync music to my iPad and iPod but I do not want to store their apps on my computer. Since iCloud remembers which apps I own, this is (in my mind) unnecessary. How do I prevent iTunes 11 from syncing my apps? This did not use to be a problem because in iTuens 10 it was an option. Now it seems that it isn't.

App Store Germnay - when will we get usefull apps here?

Thanks to Apple I can only use the german App Store. So I wonder who at Apple checks the Apps we get here...
I have no need for Hongkong Weather, Dallas Radar Cameras, Apps in Japanese.
On the other hand not only I would love to have usefull Apps like Loopt, eBay, PayPal and others - only available in the US Store.
I wonder if Apple will start offering usefull apps over herer too soon - maybe tells us german app store users a bit more when they will come.
Or Apple only gives me the possibility to get me an unofficial US Store Account, but normaly I'm not the one using hacks, but if Apple pushes me to do so ...
