Syncing both "Contacts" contacts and "Phone" contacts to iCloud

I have an iPhone 4, and when tryig to upload my contacts from my phone to iCloud I noticed some were missing. I went through my phone and found some of my contacts are in the "Contacts" app, and others are in the "Phone" app. How do I get all of these together and onto iCloud, or at least all into one app on my iPhone?
When I attempt to sync my phone contacts to iCloud it only transfers the contacts from the "Phone" app, leaving all the contacts in the "Contacts" app behind.
Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure if this will work or not, but you could try something like this:
Put your phone in airplane mode so it does not connect to the internet (and to iCloud)
Restore your iTunes backup as before.
When completed, go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts to Off.  If prompted, choose Delete from My iPhone.
If you have only a few contacts on icloud.com, you can just copy them down to re-enter later.  If you have many contacts on icloud.com, download them as a vCard file to your desktop as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4910, under "Contacts...iCloud.com Contacts".
Delete all contacts on icloud.com.
Turn off airplane mode to allow your phone to connect to icloud.
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to On and choose Merge when prompted.  Your recovered contacts should now be in iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section) and confirm that it is set to your iCloud account.  If you don't have this setting you can skip this step.
If you downloaded contacts from icloud.com as a vCard in step 4, email this file to yourself, open the email on your phone and tap the attachement to import these back to your phone and to iCloud.
If iTunes does not allow you to restore the backup while the phone is in airplane mode just leave airplane mode off and restore nomally.  When the restore process begins to restore your apps on the phone, perform step 3, then wait until the restore process finishes to complete the remaining steps.

  • Sync iphone contact with icloud

I've entered new contact information on my iPhone, but those phone numbers are not appearing for that contact in the iCloud subfolder in Outlook.  What is the best way to sync contact information in Outlook so information on my iPhone is updated in my iCloud (in Outlook).

The first thing to check is to go to icloud.com on your computer, then enter a new contact on your phone and see if it appears in your contacts on icloud.com.  Then do the same thing in Outlook.
When you do this, which is not syncing new contacts to icloud.com?

  • How do i sync my contacts from icloud to my new pc ?!

my laptop is not working anymore so i bought a new one , my contacts on my iphone are synced , but only on icloud,
anyway to sync these contacts from icloud or download them to my new laptop !?
    I have windows 7

Why would you downgrade your OS? That is neither supported by Apple or recommended by them, and is no doubt the cause of the problems you are now having.
To sync with iCloud requires iOS 5.
Update to the OS that iCloud supports and you will be able to do what you want, exactly as Apple recommends.

  • I've got an iPad and iPhone 4S, both of which are set up for facetime. When someone calls me, both the iPad and phone ring, even though the phone is set to receive facetime calls on the number and the iPad is set for an email account. why is this?

I've got an iPad and iPhone 4S, both of which are set up for facetime. When someone calls me, both the iPad and phone ring, even though the phone is set to receive facetime calls on the number and the iPad is set for an email account.
How can I change the setup so on the email only the iPad rings and on the phone number only the phone rings?

No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.

How can I sync my contacts - please help

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If they are iCloud contacts, just log into iCloud on your new phone.
You should restore from a back up of your old phone though to get things like your photos and other app data onto your new phone.

  • I use Google as my primary Contacts manager and it is set up as an Exchange account on my iPhone. Does this mean I can't sync my contacts to iCloud?

When I activated the sync contacts with iCloud option, only 93 of 912 contacts showed up in iCloud.com. I assume it is because all 829 missing are considered as Exchange contacts. As stated when you activate Contacts sync in iCloud, Exchange cannot be synced. Is there a way I could sync all my Google contacts to iCloud?

import them to your OSX adressbook. This is what gets synced to the icloud, nothing else.

  • Struggling to Sync iPhone contacts to iCloud? Here's a possible solution!

I was struggling all day trying to figure out why my contacts were appearing on my iPhone 5, but not on my Macbook Pro Late 2011 Edition. To make a long story short, I was able to add contacts to my Contact app on my Macbook and have them sync immediately to my iPhone, but was not able to do it vice-versa.
    Here was the cause:
I opened up my Contacts app on my iPhone 5
I hit 'Groups' at the top left side of the app.
I was given three options; Show All Contacts, All Outlook, and All iCloud.
I had All Outlook and All iCloud checked.
I created a fake person on my Mac Contact's app and it showed up immediately under my phone.
After thinking on it for some time, I came back and unchecked All Outlook.
By doing this, only my one fake contact appeared.
This was then a red flag to me that I had stored all of my contacts as Outlook contacts, not as iCloud contacts. If you're having a similar problem, it could be that you are storing your contacts under your email, not as iCloud, which is a huge problem for Mac users who want to integrate everything together. I like to go to my Messages app on the Mac and have a name to go with each conversation, and when my phone is charging pick up the conversation on the Mac. First, go into your iPhone settings and assuming you're running iOS 7, others may differ, hit 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars', scroll down to the sub category 'Contacts' and make sure your Default account is set to iCloud. Mine was set to Outlook which is why all of my contacts were stored in Outlook.
I found a very easy, quick fix to migrate the contacts from my Outlook to my iCloud! This solution works as a Verizon user.
Download the Backup Assistant app from the App Store on your iPhone.
    Run the Backup Assistant.
Log into your Verizon account and hit "Manage Contacts"
You will then be brought to a page with contacts from your phone.
From here, Select All Contacts and hit the 'Gear' icon.
    Click "Export Contacts"
This will create a file for you to refer to in the future so remember where you save it and make multiple copies.
Head over to your iPhone and download MultiDelete contact app. This app is used to delete multiple contacts instead of going one by one.
Once you have finished deleting your contacts from everything, including iCloud and your email program (mine was Outlook), you will have a clean and empty contacts book on your iPhone.
Go to your Mac now and open up Contacts.
Find the MyContacts.csv file and within Contacts, hit 'File' - 'Import' and browse to where MyContacts.csv is.
This will then add all of your contacts back into your phone, but as iCloud contacts, not as Outlook contacts or association with any other email address
Open up MultiDelete one more time and search for duplicates. Once you have found that there are no duplicates, you are all set.
Some people just like to turn off Contacts under their Mail, Contacts, etc... folder on their iPhone but that's not deleting them. This deletes them from the email program on the phone and makes them into iCloud contacts. Now, if you navigate to iCloud.com and log in, hit Contacts, all of your contacts are available. This is especially nice to have because if you ever use Messages on your Mac, you can text message right off your Mac!
This solution is only used for people running newer versions of both iOS and OSX. I am running iOS 7.1 currently and running the latest, most up-to-date version of Mavericks at the time this article is being written.
I figured after all of the trouble I went through today, I would share hoping that maybe somebody in a similar situation can get the fix they desire. Always enter your contacts app on your phone and uncheck your email version to test and see if they are iCloud contacts. As an Apple user with mutliple devices, this is especially helpful. You want all of your Apple devices integrated together from iPod touch to iPad, to Mac, to iPhone, as long as everything is in iCloud, you can sync them across multiple devices effortlessly.
Also, if this solution doesn't help, I'd start by troubleshooting and checking the following:
Making sure your iCloud is set up on each device and that you have turned on exactly what you desire to share between devices (whether it's contacts to calendar events)
If that's all set up, definitely look into my solution above.
If you're still having trouble, contact Apple Live Chat or give them a call. They were stumped by this issue I had, however after brainstorming a bit I figured it out myself.
I hope this helps a few people!

You could also try resetting your airport express.

  • How to sync the contacts in icloud

if i add a contact in icloud in my pc i am able to find it in my iphone. but if i add a contact in my iphone i could'nt see that in icloud. and i have imported 250 contacts through my sim card and i have saved some 100 contacts manually in my phone. but i am able to see the contacts that i have imported from sim alone, i am unable to see the contacts that i have uploaded manually.

Download the free app My Contacts Backup.  Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, when prompted choose Delete from My iPhone.  Check the contacts on your phone.  If you have any left on your phone, launch My Contacts Backup, tap the gear shaped icon on the bottom right, scroll to the bottom and tap Remove All Contacts.  When finished, go back to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On to sync the unduplicated contacts back to your phone from iCloud.
Also, be sure you aren't trying to sync your contacts with both iCloud and iTunes or you will get duplicates.

  • Can't sync my contacts through iCloud or iTunes from an iPhone 4S to an iPhone 3G

I have an iphone 4S that fell on the floor and broke the front glass. They will take some time to fix it and I need to sync my contacts to an iPhone 3G. The problem is that I can't sync them through iCloud or iTunes. Everything else syncs just fine (calendar included) but not the contacts.
    Anyone had the same problem?
Anyone has any solution to this problem?
It's reaaly important because I can't be without my contacts all that time (they will take up to 15 days to replace the glass!!!!, the iPhone works fine, just the glass broken!)
    Thanks

Does the display work?  If so, you could use an app like My Contacts Backup to email your contacts to your other phone.

  • I can't sync my contacts from iCloud to my iPhone.

I go to settings, contacts (which is green) I turn it off, it says "turning off contacts", I turn it back on but nothing happens. my contacts have not come back.  Please help!

To copy the contacts from your external accounts to iCloud, do the following:
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (any iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup.  (If you have more than 500 contests to transfer you will need the “Pro” version.)  Use the app to backup the remaining contacts on your phone (from the external accounts) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself.  Confirm that you have received the email.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section), and set this to iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap each of your external accounts and turn off contacts syncing (otherwise you will see duplicate contacts on your phone).
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the contacts from the external accounts back to your phone, and to iCloud.  They should all be in iCloud now, and you will no longer be syncing them with your external accounts.

  • Sync/transfer contacts to iCloud?

How can I force EVERY contact on my iPhone to be transferred/backed up to iCloud? I already have iCloud set up as my default Contact thing, AND I already have Contact sync enabled in iCloud Settings... but there are still contacts locally on my phone that are not synced to my iCloud account.
Is there an easy way to consolidate/transfer them so that ALL of the contacts on my phone are synced through iCloud, and not just the ones that were created there?

If you use iTunes now, you may well end up with duplicates. However if there is no other way, duplicates can be deleted, and this may be your only option.
What exactly is the state of play, are contacts on your iPod in your contacts at iCloud.com

  • I can not sync my contacts to icloud

I really hope someone can help me.
I am trying to put my contacts from my iphone5 to my new ipad.  I have managed to sync everything else.  Other than this.  I have signed in and out of icloud and also reset the process of sycing
If i go through my itunes on pc then it tells me that I am syncing through the air and that I can turn this off through my divice but i can not see this option through my phone.  all calanders have been transfered to each device so why should this be happening.
I really hope someone can help because the nearest store is always too busy and is 40 + miles away

First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

  • HT204150 I cannot Sync the contact to icloud

How can I sync the contact list from iphone 4s to icloud?

Did you go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to On and choose Merge when prompted yet?
If so, and your contacts still aren't in your iCloud account, what account is the contact list in on your phone?  Is it in On My iPhone, a Gmail, Yahoo or exchange account?  Something else?
