Syncing calendars across PC, iPad & iPhone via iCloud.

As the name suggests, I'm a PC.  Everyone keeps telling me to make the leap to apple for a laptop too & then all my devices would work beautufully together.  But it's not an option at the moment.
I'm really struggling to get my calendar syncing properly via iCloud across a PC, an iPhone & iPad.  I've figured out a few of the problems but the biggie that remains is around meeting invites.  My husband & I send each other meeting requests to ensure that we know what each other is doing.  If he sends me an invite, I can accept it in Outlook on  my PC & it drops into the Outlook default calendar, but it will not appear in the iCloud calendar on Outlook & therefore doesn't appear on my iPhone & iPad.
If I attempt to send him an invite from iPhone or iPad, he cant even see it properly on his PC/Galaxy/Nexus.
I have my own IMAP domain & don't want to abandon it for Gmail.

  • Sync only a group on iPhone via iCloud

On an iPhone 4s, how do I sync only contacts of a group?
In AddressBook I have "All contacts" and I created a group called "IPhone" and I want to sync only this group in my iPhone via iCloud.
Is it possible? I don't see any option but maybe there's a workaround somewhere
    iPhone 4s, iOS 5.0.1, OS X Lion 10.7.2
    Thanks

Ok, I've figured out what's happened but I don't know how to correct it. This is what I did: when I joined icloud I named the email account eg  [email protected] when I should have used [email protected] could someone please explain how to change it. I have tried to open a new account on icloud called [email protected] but it tells me I have already done that but the emails to that address are not coming to my phone only if I look on my PC. Any suggestions very gratefully received

  • Syncing m4b files to iPad / iPhone via iTunes

Wondering if anyone else ran into a problem syncing m4b files to their iPod/iPhone via iTunes.  I was able to import these into iTunes with no issues, but when I try to transfer them to my iPod or iPhone, they do not show up in the list.  Anyone knows why?  I thought, m4b is Apple format.  I was able to convert the files to mp3 and get them over that way, but that's a pain in the neck.

That particular Kbase article is the inverse of the question....
It describes device to computer transfers but says nothing about transferring from computer to device.
In fact, the implication from that article is that it CANNOT be done!

  • Syncing contacts from Mac to iPhone via iCloud

Ok, second time to type this up, as the program cannot remember what I typed (I changed my devices).
My wife and I shared our mobile me account on our MacBook pro.  She logged in with her account, and I had mine.  I updated to lion.  No problem very smooth.  Then I set up my wife with her own iCloud account and purged her account and her iPhone 3GS of the mobile me account.  Still, everything worked out great.  My wifethen notified me that she has no contacts which messes up a lot of stuff.  No problem.  I transferred the address book data to her part of the computer.  Not an easy task considering that it was 31mb and I no longer had the ability to drop it into iDisk.
Ifigured that iCloud or a simple sync would put all the contacts back on.  No joy.  A sync would not restore the contact database.  It says that iCloud is syncing it.  how long does it take?  And why can I not simply syn it through iTunes?  But iTunes gave me an error and would not sync it.  So, what am I doing wrong?  Her address book has all her contacts, and so did data is there.

Why won't iCloud recognize my contacts?  That is the question I intended to ask. I checked iCloud.com, and it does not show any of the contacts in the address book that are in the address book.  Did the usual check and turned on everything in Preferences that I know of.  Still, it won't see it.  Trying to go through iTunes.  Maybe I missed something there.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
        1.    First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
        2.    Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
        3.    If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

If your phone is turned off or not connected to the Internet, you will be unable to locate it. Last known location is only stored for 24 hours.

  • Is there a way to sync outlook calendars with Imac, Ipad, Iphone calendars.  I am not running exchange server.

Is there a way to sync outlook calendars with Imac, Ipad, Iphone calendars?  I am not running exchange server.

    hello,
BlackBerry devices do not support ActiveSync.
you have several ways, from best to less good :
    1)
if your company has set up Outlook Web Access, you can use the BIS connection of your device to connect to the Exchange server (email + Address book) through the url of the Outlook Web Access. The OWA needs to be accessible from outside the company.
    2)
if your company has setup an external link to the exchange server (can be accessible from outside the company), you can configure your BIS directly to the Exchange server (email only if I recall correctly)
    3)
if your company allows it, on your PC you can setup your email account to automatically forward all incoming emails to a third party email (like GMail or Hotmail), and then configure BIS to connect to that email provider. You will get push email. You can then setup a reply-to: field.
    4)
use a Windows Mobile phone that has the ActiveSync feature.

  • How do I sync calendars across Apple devices?

I have gone through the steps to use iCloud to sync calendars on my computers, iPhone, and iPad. However, not all calendar items on my iPhone show up on the Calendar on my iMac.  How can I ensure that events I add on one device are pushed to all other devices?  Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hey Walter Dalch,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with iCloud calendar, in which events may not be pushed to all other devices. To isolate and troubleshoot these issues, it may be best to follow the steps outlined in this resource:

  • How to sync bookmarks between Mac and iPhone without iCloud

How to sync bookmarks between Mac and iPhone without iCloud?
I bought a new iPhone and i would like to copy my Safari's bookmarks from my iMac (OS X 10.10.3) to my new iPhone (iOS 8.3).
How to do this, without iCloud?

You might be able to use Google Calendar to do what you want.  Set up a Google account on the web, set up the MacBook to access the Google account, including calendar, then set up the iPhone the same way.  While I'm using MAvericks, I am also using Google to manage my calendar, since I don't particularly *like* iCloud... And I came from Android to iPhone, but I haven't like iCloud since it was called MobileMe.
Oh, and as for sync to iTunes, can't you just use a direct conenction to the computer (either WiFi or cable) to keep the music in control?

  • How do I sync audiobooks across to my iPhone?

Can anyone tell me how I am supposed to sync audiobooks across to my iPhone?
I have a whole bunch of them, and they are all plain old MP3 files, with a .mp3 file extension, but I have changed the "Media Kind" for them, by selecting File > Get Info, and then choosing the Options tab. Under there, I change Media Kind from "Music" to "Audiobook".
Having done that, they do all show up under the Audiobooks section in iTunes on my Mac.
I have my iPhone set to auto-sync, ie: "Manually manage music and videos" is unchecked.
I have "Sync only checked songs and videos" checked, and the relevant individual audiobooks that I do want to copy across are checked.
I just want a few at a time, so I only have a few checked.
Needless to say, Apple doesn't supply an Audiobook tab when viewing the iPhone settings in iTunes when the iPhone is plugged in.
I have plenty of space left on my iPhone. I do not get any error messages when attempting to sync. iTunes on my mac has no problems locating the files. But still, the audiobooks will not copy across.
The only way I can get them to copy across is to create a playlist for them, copy them from the Audiobooks section into this playlist, then go under the iPhone's settings/preferences when it's plugged in, and check this new playlist that I've created.
Then they will copy across to the iPhone.
But that's a bit of a hack-job. Is there no way to "correctly" copy across an audiobook to an iPhone?
I am running the latest versions of everything:
    Mac OS X 10.5.5
    iTunes 8.0.2
    iPhone OS 2.2.1

    I'm such an idiot...
Well, actually, I'm not entirely to blame on this one...
I just figured out that Apple has buried an "Audiobook playlist" checkbox under the Music tab in the iPhone's settings / preferences.
I didn't have this "playlist" checked.
So even though the individual audiobooks themselves were checked, because the main playlist itself was not, nothing was copying across.
So I'm the fool for not noticing the box wasn't checked — but can you blame me when Apple decides to hide the "Audiobooks" section under the "Music" tab instead of in its own dedicated tab, like they do with "Video", "Podcasts", etc.
Why does "Podcasts" get its own section, but "Audiobooks" doesn't?
How is an audiobook any more like "music" than a podcast is?
    Now where's that rolls-eyes emoticon...?
