Syncing calendars using Plaxo, what about TO DO's......?

I'm using Plaxo nowadays to keep my Addresbook and iCal-calendars synchronized over several computers, and that works fine, even under Leopard. But my TO DO's is a mess. They show up in Mail and in iCal. But how can I make sure that they are also synchronized accross different computers?
Any advice appreciated!
Frank

I appreciate your perseverance , but that way doesn't work for me. iCal and Mail are giving me two sets of calendars - there is a set associated with my email account, and a separate set associated with the "on my mac" account. I cannot assign calendars associated with the emails to my on-my-mac to-dos, and vice versa, even using the pull-down menu you describe.
I did, however, find a solution to my problem. Once a ToDo is created from an email message, the ToDo can be moved from the email account to the on-my-mac account. Once it has been moved, THEN I can assign the calendar I want.
Although I have a workaround, I wonder whether I am alone in experiencing this problem.

  • Syncing calendars using Outlook 2007 from iCal Server

    Hi,
I would like to know the procedure to sync calendars using Outlook 2007 from iCal Server.
I'm setting up Internet Calendar on Outlook 2007 from == Tools> Account Settings> Internet Calendars>New> Enter the URL and click on add button
Post that, I'm getting an error:
"Error: Cannot verify or add the Internet Calendar in Outlook. Verify the link is a valid calendar link:
    webcal://fully qualified domain name:8443/calendars/_uids_/Generated UID/Calendar"
    Looking forward some response soon.
    Thanks!!

    Hi!
That is never going to work if you are looking for 2-way sync with iCal server. You need a 3rd party application to do that, like ical4ol or the open source Outlook sync plugin available here: http://caldav.calconnect.org/implementations/clients.html.
Or alternatively, use another mail client like eMClient for mail and calendaring.

  • Sync calendar using Groupwise Server?

I have Outlook on my computer, but we use Groupwise server for the Company. Whenever I post an appointment to my iphone it creates an error during sync and will not put the appointment on my calendar in Outlook. Anyone else have this issue?

I use Touchdown for my work email exchange server. You can set up to see the exchange sent emails with it. Yes it is a little pricey, but it works real well, and the setup was pretty easy ( they have a automatic setup that you can use that is pretty good). They have a 30 day trial version that they insist you try to make sure it works for you before you buy. You can find Touchdown in the market, by searching for Touchdown, or NitroDesk.
The only requirement is that your work has OWA (Outlook Web Access) enabled. If you can check your emails from outside the company through a browser, then OWA is enabled.

  • How should i sync calendars using iCloud?

I need my calendar on my iPhone 4s synced with my boss's calendar on his iPhone 4s. We both have (different) apple id's but we need to see the same information. I think icloud can do this, but I'm not sure how to set it up or if this is the best option.
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
He can share his calendar from iCal on a mac or from iCloud.com.

  • HT4918 Okay, I can move mail, calendars, etc. but what about files (e.g. documents)?  How do I access them?

Okay, I can see mail, calendars, etc from Mobile Me on iCloud but how to I acces (see) files (e.g., documents)?

iCloud does not provide general file storage in the manner iof iDisk. If you have such files on your iDisk they are still there, and accessible in the same way as before, until Saturday when they will be deleted. If you have files on your iDisk which are not also on your Mac you need to be downloading them now.
iCloud provides only syncing of iWork documents between your Mac and an iOS device - the latter, with iWork apps installed, is required.
If you want general online file storage you will have to find a third-party alternative. This page examines some options:

  • Been told to restore my iphone 3g but what about contacts, cal and apps?

I am really nervous about this and worried. mynetwork operator has advised I need to restore my iphone using itunes, due to not being able to make calls on my phone.
anyway, I am really worried about losing my contacts, calendar and any Apps I have purchased too.
any ideas on these concerns? definately need a fool proof way of making sure I restore my contacts and calendar etc.
then what about the apps? I paid for them? if I remove them, what happens, do I have to purchase them again?

You should be syncing regularly with your computer, so all of these things should be on your computer. You can simply sync them back to your iphone.

  • What about iCal event tagging for better event organization ?

Actually, it is possible to create several calendars (e.g., Work, Personal, Kids, ...) to organize your events.
Then, you can choose to simultaneously view events of one or many calendars.
But what about a more flexible tagging mechanism ?
We would be able to multi-tag an event.
Then, we would be able to simultaneously view events that match some tags and not some other tags.
We would be able to create intelligent calendar views that simultaneously display events that match some tags and not some other tags.
Tagging is a feature provided today by iPhoto for photos.
Intelligent view based on a expression is a feature provided today by iTunes for musics.
It would be nice to generalize these concepts
Is there any plan to introduce event tagging in iCal ?
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

This is what I think it means:
"Depending on whether you want the event type to be deactivated when its listeners have acknowledged receipt of the event, select either Upon Notification or Never."
I think deactivate the event means, it's not available anymore on the queue. You can ensure it doesn't stay on the queue after you catch it (Upon Notification), or you can catch it and then deactivate (or remove it from the queue) manually using your own service.
"For example, you might select Never if a service is handling the notification and any deactivation of the event type."
I think that what they mean here. If you select "Never" then, you catch the event, and you're responsible to deactivate it (remove it from the queue).

How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6/7, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

  • Why has apple removed the ability to sync calendars, contacts, notes, and what ever by hard wire and is forcing people to use iCloud?

Removing this ability has to be one of the worse moves that apple has made.  Beleave it or not some people may not want to connect to use iCloud.

    I hate iCloud, too
Never use it. I don't want to trust any of my real important data to remote servers.
Especially don't trust Apple and their servers with  personal contacts info, my calendar and appointments info, personal note, etc.
I want the ability back to sync calendars, notes, contacts to my local computer and local storage.

  • ITunes says it can't sync calendar b/c calendar on iPod is in use.

Hi all.  I'm stumped.  I just got a new iPod Touch.  I was able to sync my contacts (and everything else) through iTunes on my MacBook, but I got an error message about the calendar: "iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPod 'iPod Touch' because the calendars are in use by the iPod.  Close the calendars setting on the iPod and try again."  The problem is, I don't have the calendar open on the iPod, and don't see where I could close it in any case.
Then, I thought I would just enter things manually onto the calendar, but I can't do that either, as there's no + sign and no way to enter/add anything.
I've googled around about this and seen people saying to turn on the calendar in iCloud.  But when I do that, it just crashes.  It says it's starting to merge and then crashes, sometimes instantly, sometimes after a minute. I can't use iCloud for now anyway because my MacBook is running Snow Leopard, and I'm not planning to upgrade to Lion until I get a new computer.
I've been syncing my first generation iPod Touch to my MacBook for almost 4 years now with no difficulties.  And, as I said, the contacts and everything else worked fine.  It's just the calendar, which I really need to be able to update.  I tried to sync it with my Outlook calendar at work, just to see what would happen, and I got the same error message.
Ideally, I'd like a fix that will allow me to sync it with either iCal on my MacBook or with my Outlook calendar on my work computer.  In any case, I need to be able to update it manually but don't know how to get the + sign back.
    Any assistance would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Sue

  • How do I sync calendars between Mac (OS10.6.8) and iPad (iOS7.1)? using iTunes (v 11.1.15).

I have an iMac (model 8.1, OS X v 10.6.8) and an iPad 2 (iOS 7.1).  The calendars no longer sych via iTunes but did about 6 months ago. I think that may have been when I updated the iPad OS.  None of the instructions I've seen on-line seem to help. When I attach the iPad to the iMac via a USB cable I get the following message in iTunes - > Info - >Sych Calendars, "Your calendara are being synced with your iPad over the air from iCloud. Over the air settings can be changed on your iPad."  I do not have an iCloud account.  According to the Apple Support website, "To use iCloud, you must have at least iOS 5 on iPhone 3GS, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPad, or iPad mini; or at least OS X Lion v10.7.5 on a Mac." I'm not sure my iMac can support that OS due to its age.  Besides, I used to be able to sync the calendars so why bother with iCloud?  It just seems like one more step.
Also, I've never been able to sych the mail content between the two machines.  The message below the iTunes->iPad->Info ->Sync Mail Accounts says, "Syncing Mail Accounts syncs your account settings, but not your messages...."  Any instructions on how to sync the messages would be appreciated too.
It's frustrating to have these syncing challenges.  I had a Palm Pilot at work about 15 years ago and and it synced with the PC any time I put it into the docking cradle.  Same thing with a work-issued Blackberry about 10 years ago.  I'm disappointed that the Apple systems seems to be so convoluted and un-user friendly.  Syncing calendars worked when I orginally got the iPad about two years ago but now doesn't seem to sych.  What am I missing?  Thanks in advance.

    Hi crispinfromab,
If you are having issues syncing your calendars via USB, you may find the following articles helpful. If you do not have an iCloud account or don't intend to use it for syncing, you may also want to make sure that iCloud syncing is turned off on your phone (under Settings > iCloud).

I updated my iphone to iOS 6.1.2 and now my iphone calander and macbook calendar no longer sync (they used to). How do I get them to sync again?

    Why can't you update?
There should be nothing preventing the update from 6.1.3 or 6.1.2 or even from 5 directly to 7.
What happens when you try to update?
Have you tried to Update through a computer running the most up top date version of iTunes?
