Syncing Classic and Nano to the same account

I have an iPod Classic and an iTunes account for it. I was given a new 4th generation Nano and would like to sync it to the same account (or a second iTunes account on the same computer). But I want to sync different things to each iPod without affecting what is on the other. Is this possible and how do I accomplish it? Thanks

The short solution is to go to Settings > FaceTime > iPhone Cellular Calls OFF.
However, as Csound points out, you should not really be sharing an Apple ID with anyone. See: How to Stop Sharing an Apple ID.

If you set up a new account on your iPhone you won't have access to all the data associated with the prior Apple ID.

Hi,
Are you talking about changing the Apple ID used for purchases in iTunes? If so go to 'Settings->iTunes & App Store-> then 'tap' on the Apple ID that appears and click Sign Out on menu that appears. You can now login with a different Apple ID.

How to sync Ipad and Iphone on the same computer

My wife's iPhone is synched via iTunes on a PC whose hard drive just crashed. I have a laptop that sync's my iPad. I now want to sync her phone on the same laptop. We have separate itunes store account. How can she sync her phone with the laptop and not get the iPad information. We mostly want sync her email and her existing apps. Music and podcasts don't matter.

not sure if this is a permanent fix but, ever since upgrading to itunes 11.3.1, my iphone5 seems to finish syncing on its own, now. didn't seem to be a problem anymore. at least after doing only one sync, since the upgrade.
(stiil have a blank "purchased" page at itunes store, though).

I have just received an Ipad 16gb as a present. I have an iphone 5 64gb on my itunes account with 17.4gb in music and 14.5gb in apps plus 3.6gb in other items on my itunes/icloud account. How to I add the Ipad with its much smaller storage?
I assume I will run into difficulties when I sync as the ipad will fill up straight away, therefore becoming usless?
Any advice on how to pick and chose so I don't fill the Ipad straight away.

Close iTunes/iPhoto/iWhateverYoureRunningThatYouWantToShare. Now move your iTunes folder (found in your Music folder by default) and move the iPhoto Library (found in your Pictures folder by default) to /Users/Shared. Now in your profile, hold down alt/option while opening iTunes. A dialog box should come up asking you to create a or choose a library location. Point it to the +iTunes Library+ file in the iTunes folder you just made.
Now hold alt/option while opening iPhoto and a similar dialog box should come up asking the same question as iTunes. Point it to the iPhoto Library you moved.
Now repeat the hold alt/option process for your missus' profile. /Users/Shared is a folder all users can access so by having your iTunes and iPhoto libraries in there, you can both access it without permission errors.

Mail on iMac not accessing MS Exchange server but both iPhone and iPad access the same account with no problems.

I have been using an iPhone and iPad to access my work emails via our MS Exchange server for a number of years now with no problems at all. I recently replaced my home PC with an iMac (first Mac I have owned) but cannot get it to communicate with the exchange server. I've checked and re-checked the information on the iMac and my iPad - I even deleted the mail account on the iPad and input the details concurrently with setting up on the iMac - but the Mac will not access the exchange server.
I receive the message "The Exchange server "---------------" rejected the password for user "------" Enter you password again or cancel." I am using the correct password. iPad and iPhone are logging on using that password fine. iMac just ends up repeating this message.
Our IT support at work assure me that there is no reason from their end for it not to work, and reasonably point to it working using the iPhone etc.
I'd be extremely grateful if anyone can provide a solution to this basic, but extremely frustrating, little problem.

iPhone and iPad use a different way of accessing the server.
I don't know the exact details, but we are using Zarafa instead of Exchange and have the same problem:
iPhone and the likes can connect to Zarafas z-push interface, which is some identical interface to the native Exchange interface, while the desktop e-mail application tries to interface with the web front end (via http) of the server.
These are completely different setups and it depends on the actual installation of the server to get this going.
So, you will most likely need different access parameters for the desktop - and the web mail feature has to be enabled on the Exchange server.
In my opinion using the web mail interface is just silly. On the other hand, the native protocol has less features comparedto the web front end, so you are somehow stuck with sins of the past.

When I deleted and then recreated the same account all the emails are now gone. Where did they go?

I was having problems with getting mail from my verizon email account. Suddenly stopped working when checking mail. Sending was fine. No server settings were changed. So as a last try before the nightmare of finally giving up on them I deleted the account and then set it up again. I now get the emails but all the old ones are gone. Where did they go?
I've read all the posts about the verizon smtp ssl issues but this (the missing emails that were alreadiny in thunderbird) seems to be a TB question.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Using a shuffle and nano on the same computer

I want to get a shuffle and already have a nano on my iBook. Will the shuffle automatically use the nano software already installed. Or do I have to install the shuffle software as well. All of the frustration I've been reading about iTunes not recognizing shuffle is making me nervous. I'm afraid if I have software for both nano and shuffle installed I'll get into a confusing mess and fortunately, right now, my nano is working perfectly. I'm a new Mac user and an even newer ipod user and so this question is very basic.

If you are already using a recent version of iTunes and the iPod updater, yes. Installing the iPod shuffle software is only necessary if it is newer than the versions of iTunes and the iPod updater already on your computer.

Very easily. I have an iPod touch and iPad on the same account with totally different content.
If you use iTunes, connect each iPad to your computer and open iTunes and deselect any automatic updating/syncing. If you don't sync with iTunes but have them set up independently, under the settings, App Store, turn off automatic downloads for apps, etc.
I'm old fashioned, I set up and sync my iPad and iPod to my computer and iTunes. Each device has a different name and I manage content manually and only allow sharing on what I want shared.

We have one computer where we use iTunes (our main desktop at home).
On iTunes on our computer, sometimes we are logged into my wife's iTunes account and sometimes we are logged into mine.
My iPhone was set up with my account and my wife’s was set up with her account.
My wife's iPad is set up with her account (but it seems like it is pretty easy to log out and then log in with my account if I want, I think).
Since we log into our respective accounts on iTunes and have our own accounts for our iOS devices, we purchase music, games, etc. on both accounts.
If we continue with our current method of different accounts, I am worried that our music, games etc. will be separated so that we won't be able to access them all from each of our devices. For example, I'm thinking of setting up that Home Sharing thing where you can use your iOS device to stream off your computer's iTunes but I think it only streams off the iTunes account you are currently signed into.
Is this a good idea or should we just pick one of our accounts and use it exclusively?
If we just use one account, should our phones both be signed in / started up with that one account?
