Syncing Contacts & Calendar Between Computer and Touch With Gmail?

I just got a touch. Now, how do I get my contacts and calendar (I run Address Book 4.1.2 and iCal 3.0.8 on Leopard) from my computer to my Touch?
I am a gmail user but have not done anything beyond the mail with it.
I see that address book has a "synchronize with Google" box to click in preferences but the iCal only has one for Mobile Me (for which I would rather not have to pay.)
If you can point me in the right direction that would be great.
Thanks

I have both my iCal and my Address Book data synced between my iPod Touch and my Mac.
Where I got hung up is you don't do the sync through either application -- rather you use iTunes for the sync. I need to get my head around that but who cares. All is well and synced.

  • How do I sync my calendar between iPhone and Mac on Mavericks? The postings I've seen so far are not showing me how to do this simple thing! Apple used to be easy to use - not so much any more

I am trying to sync my calendar between the mac and my iphone now that I have upgraded to Mavericks. I understand that I have to use iCloud (which I am not at all excited about) but I'll be damned if I can find out how to do it.  I've read several postings in the community but they point me to broad troubleshooting pages and I can't find anything that simply tells me how to get my calendar into icloud to begin with and then how to sync.  i was pretty happy syncing dircetly through itunes.  I am feeling very sour about Apple right now.

Actually it is pretty easy to do through iCloud,
    On your Mac(s)
    System Preferences > iCloud
Be sure the services you want to sync through iCloud are checked
click on Account Details and be sure your Apple ID is correct
    On your iPhone
    Settings > iCloud
Account -- Verify the Apple ID is the same one you set in System Preferences on your Mac(s)
turn the services you want to sync throug iClound or ON. These should match the ones you set in System Preferences on your Mac
    On your iPad
    Settings > iCloud
Account -- Verify the Apple ID is the same one you set in System Preferences on your Mac(s)
turn the services you want to sync throug iClound or ON. These should match the ones you set in System Preferences on your Mac
That is literally all there is to it. The first sync will occur when your iPhone or iPad is plugged into power and on WiFi. After that any change made on one of the synched devices will appear on all of the other synched devices the first time they have an internet connection.

  • Syncing contacts/calendars on multiple iPod Touch using 1 Apple ID

My wife and I each have an iPod Touch (5th gen) connected to a single Apple ID.
We each have our own calendars and contacts and do not want to mix them together. Unfortunately, I had already upgraded our iMac to 10.9. Contacts and calendars now go through iCloud (grumph!) instead of the local computer.
Is there anyway to keep our calendars and contacts separate without adding another Apple ID? That would make managing our music collection impossible.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Create a NEW account/ID using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
Use the new ID on one deviceiPod but only for:
    Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
    Settings>FaceTime
and Settings>iCloud to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
    Settings>GameCenter
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.

  • Syncing contact on one computer and iTunes media (music) on another

I have a desktop computer that serves as the family's itunes music and applications, and video library. I have sync'd my iphone with that computer for over a year. I also have a pc laptop that i use for work that is one of my authorized computers on the same itunes account. This is where my outlook account resides with all of my contacts. I have mobileme but have been reluctant to sync. my iphone (which has alot of contacts) with outlook using itunes because of the many stories i hear about deleting info. Now as I am about to take the leap, it seems I may not be able to sync contacts with my laptop, while continueing to sync the itunes media via my family desktop. I can't believe this is the case, but it is far from clear that i can do this, and all warnings as i start the process appear to indicate that it's going to delete those items i have sync'd from the other computer if i decide to sync. contacts with my laptop. Can i sync. my iphone with some non-itunes content (contacts) with one computer, and also sync. itunes content on a different computer?

Can i sync. my iphone with some non-itunes content (contacts) with one computer, and also sync. itunes content on a different computer?
    Yes.
In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced or manually managed with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first.
Contacts, calendar events, and Safari bookmarks can be synced with the supported applications on multiple computers.
There will be a warning message provided that your iPhone has been synced with an iTunes library on another computer, but if you don't select to transfer any iTunes content from your PC at work - don't select anything under the Music, Podcasts, Video, Applications, and Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes on your PC at work.

  • Sync of calendars between mac and iphone

Previously, I could sync my phone with itunes and my calendars would update across both devices.   couple of months ago I installed mavericks and noticed that there no longer was the option to sync calendars with a wired connection between devices so I rolled back to 10.8.5 and left mavericks well alone
Still on 10.8.5 and with my iphone 4s on 7.1, I cannot send calendar entries from my phone to my mac.
I am not a cloud user and for many reasons I can't/dont want to be a cloud user.  Is there any way to recover the two way sync capabilities between devices or is this yet another force of hand from the once mighty apple to push me in a way they want me to go ?
    Any advice greatly received

Do you have sync calendars selected in the Device Summary tab in iTunes?

  • For 10 days now, I have not been able to sync the calendar between iMac and Blackberry Bold 9900. Events prior to 10 days get moved over to Bold but not new events.

iCal in MacBook Air was able to sync with bold 9900. However, in the last 10 days, no new events created in iCal is moving over to Bold 9900. Is there an issue with iCal

The seller has been nothing but helpful. They have contacted O2 relentlessly to try to fix this. I've paid through PayPal so money is safe anyway. Seller says O2 mistakenly thought my phone was stolen and barred it for some reason. I can't get any more information from O2 or the seller. I was scheduled to meet with someone on Friday but couldn't get any details from my phone because it is barred. This person doesn't answer calls from numbers they don't know because PPI claim cold calls are particularly problematic for them. Therefore the person was probably at the meeting place on Friday while I was AWOL. O2 has actively created problems in my life. I will definitely file a complaint. I hope I will be compenstated in some form for this complete dis-service I have received.

  • Can't synch music & contacts/calendar using home and work machines

Hi all. I just purchased an Iphone. I keep me calendar and contacts on my work computer (Microsoft Outlook) and my music on my home computer (Itunes). I synched the phone with Itunes (no music) on the work computer today and now have all of my contacts and calendar on the phone. I tried to synch with my music on my home computer tonight and I got a prompt that says the phone is synched with another Itunes library and that if I want to synch with the home library (for my music) the contents of the phone will be erased and then synced.
So, my question is: will the erasing erase my contents and calendar from my synch this morning with my work computer? If so, how can I get both my contacts/calendar and my music from the 2 different computers onto my phone?
Sorry about the long post, and thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Frank A.

You can sync music/video from ONE computer/library at a time. The same is not true of contacts and calendars.
Your music will be erased if you sync music to another computer, and replaced with music from the new computer.
If you are trying to sync contacts/calendar to both computers, then make sure that each computer has at least one contact and calendar entry. This will prompt a merge.
If you want to sync contacts/calendars from one and music from another computer, then disable automatic sync and select contacts and calendars to sync with one computer ( de-select music and video sync) and do the opposite on the other computer.

  • I have an iMac with 10.9.1 and an iPhone 5 also updated to the newest system and I cannot get a sync set up between Ical and the iPhone or Outlook 2011 mac calendar with the iphone

I have an iMac with 10.9.1 and an iPhone 5 also updated to the newest system and I cannot get a sync set up between Ical and the iPhone or Outlook 2011 mac calendar with the iphone. I would perfer using outlook but will settle for the Imac calendar

It depends on what iMac you have. If it is an old PPC (G4 orG5) iMac then no further upgrades are possible. If it an Intel iMac:
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
(NB: PowerPC applications can still be run in Snow Leopard using Rosetta, but they will not work in later versions of OS X.)
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard to bring it up to 10.6.8, or download the combo update from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Check via Software Update whether any further updates are required, particularly to iTunes.
You should now see the App Store icon in iTunes, and you now need to set up your account:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4479
You can now upgrade to Mavericks OS 10.9 for free IF you have one of the following Macs, with not less than 2GB of RAM, and at least 8GB of available space on your hard drive:
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
    MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later), (15-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later), (17-inch, Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac Mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    iCloud system requirements:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4759
If you cannot run Mavericks you can purchase the code to use to download Lion from the App Store (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard):
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion
    or Mountain Lion:

  • Syncing contacts/calendars of 2 phones on 1 computer [win XP]

My wife and I recently got iphones (yay!!). However, we only have on computer at home running outlook 2007 and every time we sync contacts/calendars we get all of each others info. I tried creating groups in outlook, but they are not showing up in itunes (i'm only getting the all contacts option, not groups). I've been trying to figure this out most of the day, any help is greatly appreciated.

I wonder if the original poster might be able to do it with manual sync and (admittedly) a bit of inconvenience. I have my iPhone set up to sync manually on two different machines, one for my music and the other for my laptop's iCal. But I didn't want all of the individual calendars of my laptop's iCal assortment to sync to the 'phone, so I checked "sync selected calendars" and toggled just the ones I wanted to cart around on my iPhone.
Maybe the OP could set up the iPhones for manual syncing, and on the Info tab check off selected calendars to sync with his phone before hitting the sync button. It may be a pain to have to remember to change the checkboxes for the His and Hers calendars, but it might be worth a try. (And make sure you have the right destination calendar -- again in the Info tab -- for the appointments made on your iPhone when you are syncing back to the laptop iCal. You don't want your appointments showing up in her calendar...)
    Hope this helps.

  • HT1692 Syncing calendar between laptop and iPad mini

I can't sync my calendar between my laptop and iPad mini. I don't want to use iCloud, especially as when I tried it, all my entries were duplicated, which took up the whole calendar. Other apps will sync, but the calendars refuse. What can I do?

YOu can sync via iTUnes and not use iCloud. When you connect your iPad to your computer  look for the 'info' tab. Then when you scroll down you should see the option to sync your calendar. Tap on that and sync and you can sync your calendar without messing with iCloud.
Alternatively, its not quite syncing, but you can export your calendar from the calendar program, e--mail it to yourself, open that mail on your device and then save your calendar info from there.
I've had to do it both of those ways because I export my work calendar and can't sync with my work computer, also when I upgraded to windows 8.1, iCloud wasn't compatible for about a month or two so I would have had a blank calendar for that time.

  • How to transfer SMS and Call History from Iphone 5 to Iphone 6 plus? Only the contacts, calendar, safari bookmarks and notes have synced.

Hi! Please help. I have synced my IPhone 5 to Itunes. When I try to sync it to Iphone 6 plus, only the contacts, calendar, safari bookmarks and notes have synced to the latest date. The rest like SMS and Call History have only synced to June 2013.

I upgraded from an iPhone 4S to iPhone 6 Plus, I don't like to run iTunes, and iCloud backup is not so reliable, I think. Then I searched on the Internet, and some articles told me that I can directly transfer data from Phone to iPhone with some tools.
I doubt it first, then I gave a shot on one of them for the free trial. I follow the steps to transfer about 200 sms from my 4S to 6 Plus, and it works!
    Got this from here: http://www.cultofmac.com/296711/transfer-data-new-iphone-6-imazing/
    Hope this helps!

my ipod touch accidentally disconnected during sync, after that it wont sync at all. although it appears to be syncing on both the computer and ipod, it rushes through "determining which tracks to sync' step and no changes are actually made.i restarted both and reset the ipod. i checked to see that the computer recognizes the ipod (yes) and tried to sync over wifi with the same result...(i am afraid to retore to factory original beacuse the problem is about transferring from th computer itunes to the ipod)

There is no good way for yur problem since iTunes sees the iPOd.  Yu can ry removing and reinstalling all the Apple software using:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
However, I suspect a restor, first try from backup, is required.
