Syncing contacts from mac to icloud

I've got all my contacts on my MacBook. However, iCloud only shows a single contact. I want to upload my copntacts from my MacBook to iCloud. Why is this so hard?

First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.
This user tip might help you understand how accounts work with Address Book.

My iPhone 4 won't sync the "all contacts" section of my phone to the iCloud contacts. I just want to put all of my contacts from my iPhone onto iCloud so they can then be synced to my Macbook Pro. As of right now I have an incomplete contact list on my Mac. Thanks for the help!

  • Problems syncing Contacts from Mac to iphone - popup says script error MM

Hi, when I did my initial sync from my MBP to the iphone all worked great. But when I made some changes to my Address Book on the MBP yesterday and did a manual sync, those changes were not picked up by the iphone - I tried several times So I logged onto MM to check, clicked on the Contacts icon and got a busy symbol. The folder headings of my address book appeared then I had a popup appear to say that a script was having a problem on the page and I could continue or stop it. I tried continue a few times and eventually had to stop it, the busy symbol just continued. My contacts were never displayed. I tried it this morning and it is the same, is this the cause of my syncing probs and if so how do I fix it.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

Are you syncing contacts direct with the Address Book on your Mac via the iTunes sync process, or over the air with MM on your iPhone?
If you are doing the former, this has nothing to do with a problem with your MM online address book.
If you are doing the former, try resetting the sync history on your Mac, which is done via iSync preferences with the iSync application located in your Applications folder.
    Quit iTunes and launch iSync.
At iSync preferences, select reset sync history.
Restart your Mac and try syncing with iTunes again.

  • Sync Contacts from Phone to icloud

I have about 3000 contacts from my old Microsoft Exchange server that are in my phone but I'm unable to get them from my phone to iCloud. Any idea how I can salvage these contacts? I don't want to lose them when I upgrade my phone. Thanks.

To copy the exchange account contacts to iCloud, do the following:
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (any iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup.  (Since you have more than 500 contacts to transfer you will need the “Pro” version.)  Use the app to back up the remaining contacts on your phone (from the exchange account) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself.  Confirm that you have received the email.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section) and set this to iCloud.
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the contacts from the other accounts back to your device, and to iCloud.
Open the Contacts app, tap Groups, then tap the exchange account so it is unchecked and tap Done.  Confirm that the contacts are now all in the iCloud account on your phone, as well as on icloud.com.
Assuming they are, you can either leave things this way (with the duplicate exchange account contacts hidden from view), or to eliminate the duplicate contacts on your phone, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars…tap the exchange account and turn off contacts syncing with the exchange account.

  • Syncing Contacts from Mac to iP4

    Hey everyone,
Just got the iPhone 4, and I'm new to a lot of this...So forgive me if this question is too simplistic for all of you. I was wondering how to transfer contacts from my MacBook Address Book to the iPhone Address Book...preferably without subscribing to MobileMe, and if that process correlates to syncing applications of the like such as Calendar.
Thanks for your time, and I look forward to hearing back!
    -Johnny

I'm having the headphone issue too. I'm out mowing the lawn, VModa headphones on a pretty high level, and all of a sudden WHAM. VOLUME that literally scares me, only for a split second.
I checked to see if I received any push notifications, and nothing was there. It's something buggy with the OS, and it's really flipping annoying.
I'm going to try my SHURE set of headphones to see if that makes a difference.
To think I was going to order an iPad today too because my 3 iPhone experiences have been so good. No one checked the headphone jack for more than 5 minutes?

  • Syncing contacts from Mac to iPhone via iCloud

Ok, second time to type this up, as the program cannot remember what I typed (I changed my devices).
My wife and I shared our mobile me account on our MacBook pro.  She logged in with her account, and I had mine.  I updated to lion.  No problem very smooth.  Then I set up my wife with her own iCloud account and purged her account and her iPhone 3GS of the mobile me account.  Still, everything worked out great.  My wifethen notified me that she has no contacts which messes up a lot of stuff.  No problem.  I transferred the address book data to her part of the computer.  Not an easy task considering that it was 31mb and I no longer had the ability to drop it into iDisk.
Ifigured that iCloud or a simple sync would put all the contacts back on.  No joy.  A sync would not restore the contact database.  It says that iCloud is syncing it.  how long does it take?  And why can I not simply syn it through iTunes?  But iTunes gave me an error and would not sync it.  So, what am I doing wrong?  Her address book has all her contacts, and so did data is there.

Why won't iCloud recognize my contacts?  That is the question I intended to ask. I checked iCloud.com, and it does not show any of the contacts in the address book that are in the address book.  Did the usual check and turned on everything in Preferences that I know of.  Still, it won't see it.  Trying to go through iTunes.  Maybe I missed something there.

  • Can't sync Contacts from Mac to iPhone

    Hi
I have prb with the MobileMe syncing since I updated my iPhone software to 2.0.2. I can add a new contact to my iPhone, and see it appearing in my Mac, but if I add a contact in my Mac Contact application, it just doesn't sync to my iPhone. Actually, it doesn't even appear on the MobileMe web page.
It was working before the update to 2.0.2. Weird...
    Any idea/help ?
    Thanks
    Laurent

found this solution on this forum...maybe it will help.
    01.) Plug iPhone into computer
02.) Sync the phone in order to back up your latest info.
    03.) Restore iPhone in iTunes
04.) When restore completes, ignore the "set up as new phone" or "restore from backup" screen and just unplug the phone from the computer.
05.) Once unplugged, slide to unlock and tap on the email icon.
06.) Tap on your email type to setup (for me it was gmail)
    07.) Enter your email information.
08.) Load your email and let it download a bunch of emails.
09.) Plug phone back into computer. The "set up as new phone" and "restore from backup" screen will pop up again.
10.) Choose "restore from backup" and select your last backup.
    11.) Wait until complete.

Since the release of Mavericks (OS X 10.9) syncing contacts and calendars with a Mac via iTunes is no longer supported. The currently supported method is via iCloud. Setup instructions: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/

  • Sync contacts onto Mac and then onto iCloud?

    Hello all,
    Happy holidays!
I have an iPhone 4, latest software, and a MBP running 10.7.2. I'm trying to do with iCloud what I successfully and easily did with MobileMe, which is sync contacts from the MBP and iPhone manually through iTunes, in a 2-way sync. After the sync, I'm trying to get the contacts to then sync from my Address Book on my Mac to iCloud via a manual sync.
The 2-way sync goes fine as long as iCloud has contacts unchecked under Accounts in System Preferences. However, when I turn it back on, the option of syncing my info in iTunes is automatically turned off and I have to go through the whole rigamorole again and again.
Is this possible? Is it possible to sync to the On My Mac group and then have it updated to iCloud without having iTunes shut it off?
I know I can manually update everything via Vcard exports and lots of management but I'm hoping to avoid that.
Who would have ever thought we'd miss the good ole' days of MobileMe?
    Thanks!

Finally, iCloud updated and I have contacts everywhere. My iPhone 3GS still had the old mobileme login/password combo. It took three tries, but iPhone relented and accepted the new login info. Now I have contacts and calendar on iCloud, mac and iPhone.
    Merry Christmas, all!

  • TS3988 My wife bought an iPad Air and synced contact from our PC (Outlook), now all our contacts in Outlook have gone and we have to go to iCloud to get them, and even then they are a bit jumbled. How do I get my data back onto my PC?

My wife bought an iPad Air and synced contact from our PC (Outlook), now all our contacts in Outlook have gone and we have to go to iCloud to get them, and even then they are a bit jumbled. How do I get my data back onto my PC?

If you can see the iCloud contacts in Outlook, you can copy them back to your PC by selecting all the contacts (click one, then press Control-A), then drag and drop the selected contacts to Contacts under My Contacts on the left sidebar of Outlook.
If you want to copy your calendar back to Outlook, select your iCloud calendar on the left sidebar of Outlook, switch to the list view (select View from the ribbon, then click Change View>List), select your events (click on a single event, then press Control-A), then control drag and drop them to Calendar under My Calendars on the left sidebar.
Then you can sign out of iCloud on the iCloud control panel and your local copies will still be there.  If you want to add your iCloud email account back to iCloud, you can do this with these settings: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864.

  • Is there any way to sync Outlook for Mac with iPhone? I have tried everything but not successful. Apple says it is not possible to sync contacts from Outlook for Mac to iPhone 5. Any help will be much appreciated.

Is there any way to Sync contacts from Outlook for Mac to iPhone 5? Apple support says that only iTune can only sync contacts from "Contact" which is the default contact of Mac. If one is running Outllok on a Mac machine then it is not possible to sync the contacts with iPhone. It is strange that Apple distributors are promoting and offering machines with promise that Windows users can now run MS Office on Mac machines without any problem. While this is true, it is so strange that one cannot sync the contacts from MacBook Pro to iPhone5. If someone has found a way to sync contacts from Outlook to iPhone 5 please help as it is very frustrating to not be able to sync the contacts. Thanks, Amit.

This information is correct for Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents.
It's also correct for Outlook if the Outlook Calendars where exported in the ics format.

I just went to icloud-contacts- OFF.  It asks if I want to keep my contacts on the phone and I said yes.
Thanks so much.  Saved me a ton of time.
One thing I noticed though is for my name, it used to have an image of a person.  That is gone now on my phone but on my computer.  Is that only in iCloud?
