Syncing Contacts from Phone to computer without backing it up.

I need to restore my iphone without restoring it from a backup. I think my back up has corrupted files as I am sure my phone does. I do not want to lose my contacts. I do not care about losing the apps and such, just the contacts. How do I sync my contacts that are on my phone to my computer. All I see is the ability to sync contacts from my computer (Address Book) to my phone, Not vice-versa. Thanks for any help.

I thought that I did. In INFO>Contacts in my itunes it asked me to sync address book contacts. These contacts I do not care to have on my phone. But my phone contacts are not in my address book. How can I just sync my phone contacts to my computer. So when I restore it I can just sync those right back to my phone. I am not seeing an option for this.

Is there anyway i can sync songs from Iphone to Computer without a cord?

Yes!  You can use iTunes Match, which basically keeps your iTunes library in a cloud that is accessible from both your iPhone and computer.

  • Sync Contacts from Phone to icloud

I have about 3000 contacts from my old Microsoft Exchange server that are in my phone but I'm unable to get them from my phone to iCloud. Any idea how I can salvage these contacts? I don't want to lose them when I upgrade my phone. Thanks.

To copy the exchange account contacts to iCloud, do the following:
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (any iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup.  (Since you have more than 500 contacts to transfer you will need the “Pro” version.)  Use the app to back up the remaining contacts on your phone (from the exchange account) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself.  Confirm that you have received the email.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section) and set this to iCloud.
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the contacts from the other accounts back to your device, and to iCloud.
Open the Contacts app, tap Groups, then tap the exchange account so it is unchecked and tap Done.  Confirm that the contacts are now all in the iCloud account on your phone, as well as on icloud.com.
Assuming they are, you can either leave things this way (with the duplicate exchange account contacts hidden from view), or to eliminate the duplicate contacts on your phone, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars…tap the exchange account and turn off contacts syncing with the exchange account.

  • How to sync contacts from iPhone to computer

having real problems with the contacts on my iphone updating/syncing on my macbook pro.  have tried switching between icloud, exchange and manually on itunes (whicn now doesnt seem to give a contacts selection to sync with since upgrading to Maverick). Frustrating! any tips appreciated

  • Laptop died. lost outlook. need to sync contacts from phone.

I lost a lot of outlook data (messages, calendar, tasks, and contacts) when my laptop died. I tried to sync the phone, but I am afraid that it will wipe out my contacts on the phone, too. I can't be without them. I also wondered if I could somehow back up the lost data from the files I managed to save - or if that would be wise - on outlook. I use ToDo to sync with my Outlook tasks and have not been able to sync that, either. All my tasks are also on the phone only.
Any wise techies out there that can walk me through the steps to salvage and sync?

Thank you for helping. And I have not used Zune for anything besides music, so I wouldn't know about that. I know they are phasing them out, and was not suggesting that it is anything compared to the iPhone (I adore my iPhone and mostly use it for photography - which there's just no comparison). I was just saying that the sync and data transfer interface is not user friendly - as far as music and outlook data. I haven't tried syncing to Google, but that's another option for the future as I might just migrate away from Outlook if I have to go through this much more.
I probably should try and find someone to help me "fix" my Outlook before I sync the data - since all this might be a moot point if I were able to salvage the data from my hard drive and somehow bring my Outlook back to life on this new computer. Just afraid that it might be corrupted - since the other computer was destroyed by a virus.

There are apps you can dowload that will let you sync your contacts across platforms or backup and restore contacts without iTunes.  An app that will sync your contacts is Contacts Sync.  Search the app store and find an app that will meet your needs.

  • Auto sync from phone to computer but not computer to phone.

how do I auto sync music from iphone to computer, but keep from auto syncing from my computer to the phone?  There is not enough memory on my phone to handle everthing on my computer and want to back up purchases made from my phone without having to remember what I bought and manually syncing.  Thanks

Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically.
Connect device, right-click on it in the side bar and use transfer purchases.
Edit your sync settings so that a reasonable subset of your library is scheduled to sync to it rather than everything.

  • My computer crashed. So does this mean I can not add any more music to my ipod from a different computer without all the songs being erased? Can I sync my ipod to a new computer if I allow all the songs to be erased?

My computer crashed. So does this mean I can not add any more music to my ipod from a different computer without all the songs being erased? The ipod works fine and now i got a new computer. So it seems like my only options are leaving my ipod in a state where i cant add anymore songs or erasing all my songs and trying to use my ipod from my new computer. Can someone please inform me on how to have my ipod work from a different computer, even if i have to erase my songs. Thanks.

Yes, if you choose the Erase and Sync option (or restore your iPod) you will be allowed to sync your iPod with the new computer.

  • Is there a way to copy or back up contacts from my Ipod touch without using Itunes?

Is there a way to copy or back up contacts from my Ipod touch without using Itunes?

Are you sure that you can transfer contacts from the iPod to Skydrive?
I would try the links that I previusly provided and try to get iTunes to see the iPOd so you can do everthing right.
If you find a computer that can see the iPOd yu can update the iPod on that computer.  See:
iOS 5: Updating your device to iOS 5
Yu can make that your suncing computer by -
    - Transfering iTunes purchases:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Connect the iPod and make a backup by right clicking on the iPOd under Dvices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore from that backup. That will also update the iPod.

  • Syncing contacts from iPhone back to iMac (Entourage)

Briefly, after both my Time Machine and hard drive failed, I lost all my data. My Entourage contacts re-main on my iPhone, and I want to sync them back to Entourage. I understand the process of "merging,"but I have run into a few obstacles: I am using the latest version of iTunes (7.6.2), by the way. First, under Preferences, I have no options available under "Syncing." Then, when I connect my iPhone, and select "Info," I have no options here, either. I do have a number of contacts in Entourage in my iMac, but, apparently, iTunes no longer recognizes the existence of this program, so I can go no-
where. (My Entourage Contacts have been duplicated in my Address Book, but that doesn't show up, either. Something must be terribly corrupted.) I'm both frustrated and perplexed, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance. pah

Something to check when syncing contacts from iphone back to computer, make sure to open address book and enter at least one contact.
Then when you connect the iphone, you should get a message asking if you want to merge the data.
Click merge and this should copy all contacts from the iphone back into address book.
the same goes with ical also.
Make sure there is at least one event in ical.
Now to move the data in address book and ical to entourage is set in the entourage preferences in the sync services section.
    Hope this helps.

  • Sync contacts from back up of a restored iPhone5

How to sync contacts from back up of a restored iPhone5?

Contacts are not really a part of a backup.
If the device has been used as designed, contacts are synced to a supported app on the computer or a cloud service. Simply sync them back.
If you have not been using the device as designed, restore from backup and pray that they restore.

  • TS3988 My wife bought an iPad Air and synced contact from our PC (Outlook), now all our contacts in Outlook have gone and we have to go to iCloud to get them, and even then they are a bit jumbled. How do I get my data back onto my PC?

My wife bought an iPad Air and synced contact from our PC (Outlook), now all our contacts in Outlook have gone and we have to go to iCloud to get them, and even then they are a bit jumbled. How do I get my data back onto my PC?

If you can see the iCloud contacts in Outlook, you can copy them back to your PC by selecting all the contacts (click one, then press Control-A), then drag and drop the selected contacts to Contacts under My Contacts on the left sidebar of Outlook.
If you want to copy your calendar back to Outlook, select your iCloud calendar on the left sidebar of Outlook, switch to the list view (select View from the ribbon, then click Change View>List), select your events (click on a single event, then press Control-A), then control drag and drop them to Calendar under My Calendars on the left sidebar.
Then you can sign out of iCloud on the iCloud control panel and your local copies will still be there.  If you want to add your iCloud email account back to iCloud, you can do this with these settings: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864.
