Syncing contacts from unsynced iphone to new imac

Good morning,
My boss has an iPhone full of contacts. The iPhone has not been synched with a PC or Mac before. He now has a new Mac laptop, he wants to sync the two, without iTunes destroying the content on the iPhone. How can I, a) take a full backup of the iPhone before letting iTunes anywhere near it, and b) get the contacts synced to the iMac so that for that first sync it treats the iPhone as a master and does not delete the contents on the iPhone. Thanks.

Same here, I have an iPhone 4 and a MacBook Pro. On my phone I have 750 contacts and on my laptop only 100!
I can't get the contacts from the phone to the laptop. Nowhere does it say merge, or use replace contacts on laptop.
I hope I don't have to manually enter all the address book into the laptop!

  • How Can I sync contacts FROM my iPhone TO my AOL E-mail?

How can I sync contacts FROM my iPhone TO my AOL E-mail? In other words, I want to keep all of my iPhone contact information intact and make AOL "mirror" it (and not wipe it out when I sync thru iTunes).

The iPhone supports syncing contacts with Outlook 2003 or 2007, or with Windows Contacts with Windows, and with the Address Book or with the Entourage address book on a Mac.
If you aren't currently using one of the supported applications on your computer for contact info - the supported address book application on your computer is empty, before syncing contacts enter one contact in the supported application on your computer. Make this contact up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data with the supported application on your computer, which you want to select.
After this, you can export the contacts from the supported application on your computer that is supported for import by your AOL online address book - if AOL includes such an option.

Since the release of Mavericks (OS X 10.9) syncing contacts and calendars with a Mac via iTunes is no longer supported. The currently supported method is via iCloud. Setup instructions: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/

  • How do I transfer music from my iphone to new imac

I've just bought an imac and which is empty of itunes and would like to transfer the music from my iphone to the imac. Can anyone help please?

If you don't still have your PC (copying content between computers) or your content on a backup that you can copy the music from then you will need to get a third-party program for your computer to copy it off your iPad - iTunes will only copy iTunes purchases.

  • Restore contacts from the iPhone to our iMac?

Recently the hard drive in our iMac crashed and needed replacements.  We want to restore the contacts from the iPhone.  How do we make that happen?

Copy everything from your backup copy of your computer.
If for some reason you have failed to backup ( not good), then you would have to enter a unique contact in your computer.  When you first sync, then you should get the option to merge.

  • How do I sync contacts from my iPhone to my MacBook?

I know there is a way to sync my contacts from my iPhone 6 to my Macbook (running on Yosemite)...but who can tell me how to do it?!
Right now, my MacBook has all these random contacts but I want to be able to see all my iPhone contacts on my Mac; and if I change info on one device, I want it to sync across all my devices.
I've got iCloud enabled and the contacts box check on both devices, but I don't see them merged? Any help would be appreciated!

Log in to https://icloud.com. Do you see all of your contacts there? If you have iCloud enabled on the MacBook and the iPhone they should sync in near-real time. Mine all do. However, all of the contacts on the phone must be in a contact group that is synced to iCloud. If you have contacts from before you set up iCloud they may not be in a group that syncs. You will have to get a 3rd party app that allows moving contacts between groups on the phone, as the built in app cannot do that. There are several in the app store.

  • How can I sync contacts from my iphone 3gs to a new gmail account?

I've just set up a new gmail account and want to sync the contacts from my work phone to contacts in my gmail.  I have nearly 700 contacts to sync so I'm looking to do this in the easiest (and most reliable!) way I can - any pointers?  Or tips on how to make sure I don't lose them all in the process of syncing?!
    Cheers,
    S

Begin by backing up your contacts as a precaution.  You can do this using the free app My Contacts Backup, which will back up your contacts as an attachment to an email.  You send the email to yourself, and can later open this email on you phone and tap the attachment to re-import your contacts if necessary.  Once you've done that, set up your gmail account as an exchange account as described here:
http://support.google.com/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138740.  Turn on contacts syncing and when prompted select Keep on my iPhone to keep the existing contacts on your phone from being deleted (step 13).

  • How do I sync contacts from one iPhone's backup to brand new iPhone?

    Hi all,
I recently just lost my iPhone 3G, it was stolen and I could not get it back. The only "copy" of my iPhone 3G and it's contacts are in the backup file found in my iTunes.
fyi, My iPhone was formatted to sync with my iTunes on Mac.
The question is: if I were to purchase a brand new iPhone, can the contacts from the backup file in iTunes be sync to the new iPhone? If it is possible, how do I do that?
    Please help!

When you get your new phone & connect it to itunes, you will be given the option of restoring from backup or setting up as new. Select restore from backup. This must be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content. Make sure you have at least ONE entry for contacts & calendars in whatever supported application you use for that purpose on your computer. These entries can be fake, that doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs NOT BE EMPTY. When you do sync after restoring from backup, you'll get a merge or replace prompt regarding your contacts & calendar, select merge.

  • Can not sync iCal from my iPhone to my iMac

I can not figure out how to Sync the iCal events from my iPhone (where it works fine) to iCal on my iMac.
I have everything checked in iCloud preferences, but it is not working.

First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

  • Remove synced contacts from other iPhone

I recently synced my wifes iPhone to my profile on my MacBook after i relaized she never set it up to her PC and had no music on it. Now my iPhone has all of her contacts as well as mine so all of the duplicates show up with two names in my phone. Is there any attribute within the contacts that would allow me to filter by the date i synced her phone or something so i can remove them from my contacts? I assume if i have any shot of not doing this manually it will be on my computer and not the phone but i thought this best fit here.
If this helps in any way:
phones: both iPhone5's with latest software
computer: Macbook pro Retina with latest software.
    Thanks

So the contacts from other people who have iPhones are missing, then all contacts dissappeared and then now the only contacts you have are the original contacts that were missing??? Am I reading this correctly?
When this happened were you charging the device, backing up, using it in any way?
Are your contacts connected any way to an email 'exchange' server domain?

  • Syncing Contacts from my iPhone 4 to my MacBook Pro

I have my Contacts on my iPhone 4 but there is nothing stored on my MacBook Pro - how do I share the contacts with my MacBook Pro and then keep them sync'd?
I also have my Hotmail a/c set up to sync with my iPhone, although the contacts don't copy between them either.
I see there is an option to sync contacts via iTunes when I dock my iPhone but am reluctant to use that until I understand what I'm doing (in case it copies from my Mac to the phone, rather than visa versa).
I have also reset my sync history via iSync.
    Thanks.

Enter at least one UNIQUE contact on your computer ( could be a dummy contact).  When you first sync, then you should get the option to merge the data.

I have never synced my contacts and photos with my computer.  Now I want to get them out of my iphone and into my pc so I can then transfer them to my new ipad.  How do I do this?  It appears that iTunes only allows one-way syncing.

  • Syncing contacts from old email to new email on BB Tour

I would like to have the contacts I entered on my phone that synced to an old email address sync to the new email address I now use on my BB.  All the contacts I have entered since setting up the new email address have synced under that account but the old ones still say "Synchronize using: [email protected]".
Is there a quick fix for this or will they forever be synced to my out-of-date account?
    Thanks for the help!

An easy way to do transfer your contacts is to download the free app My Contacts Backup.  Run this app on your old phone to backup your contacts as an attachment to an email.  Send this email to yourself and open it on your new phone, tap the attachment and import your contacts.
