Syncing contacts on an iPhone removes custom ringtones for a contact

I kept noticing that my custom ringtones regularly vanished on my iPhone 3G. This article explains why:

Can you make custom ringtone for iPhone 4 w/o using iTunes?

My computer crashed and I had to redownload iTunes and all my music the other day. I plugged my iPhone 4 in to put a custom ringtone I made in iTunes on it and it says it wants to "erase and sync" my phone since it was connected to my old iTunes. Is there a way to fix this or is there a way to make a new custom ringtone for my iphone without using iTunes?

you're better off creating new ringtones. Take a look at the first link I gave you, that will answer all your questions.

Custom Ringtone for your Contacts on Nokia N900

Hey guys,
Its great to know that We got Nokia N900 in India now.
Many of people searching for custom ringtone for their contacts. I have installed app for it and worked great, here is the screen of how to do it.
1-goto app manager and download Ringtino app ( name specified in attached screen )
2-goto contact and click on title not edit contact, u will get " custom Ringtone " as like my screen.
Let me know if anything needed.

IOS 6 Custom Ringtones for 3rd party apps such as Talkatone

Will iOS 6 ever allow an app such as talkatone or google voice to allow custom ringtones? Does anyone know??
Since they upgraded from iOS 5 to 6 that feature is no longer available. It is quite a bummer. Please put it on again Apple!

You can't use custom ringtones for Talkatone.

Delete or unsync or remove custom ringtone from iphone 4s

I bought iphone 4s and I've added a custom ringtone .m4r and now I can't remove it?
I tried everyting of unsyncing to deleting the actual rintone file from the PC but it still appears in my iphone 4s?
No ringtones appear in itunes under the iphone or even libaray yet it stayed in my ipgone
Any advise?

Remove custom ringtones from itunes

I am using the latest itunes 11.01.12 version with my iphone 5. I have a number of custom ringtones which appear in the "Tones" section of itunes. I want to remove them completely (not just un-check and sync) and leave the page blank. I have tried all I could with no success.
Please provide guidance!

If that doesn't help, this is what helped me. Get to the main starting page of itunes in "Albums" view. Looks like this:
-Then, in the left hand corner, tap the "Music" tab.
-The drop down menu will fall down, and then you will select the "Tones" button.
-And from that screen you will be able to delete, rename, & customize your tones anyway you like! =]

Iphone 3gs custom ringtones

the custom ringtones disappear after 2-3 calls. It goes back to a preloaded tone. Why does this happen

Hahaha...funny! I just did more of a search and fixed the problem. Follow this to fix the issue:
Delete the ringtones from your iphone.
Sync your phone.
Add the tones back again from itunes.
Sync again.
Fixed!

Removing Custom Ringtones

Hey. New poster :-)
Anyway, basically I wanted the old sounds (ie gungho, pro etc) on my curve 9320, so I installed a pack for them and it worked fine.
After that I noticed my battery drain was quite fast, so I reset them to the default. Now, I want to just remove the ringtones from my phone so I don't see them on my ringtone list
However, there's no option to delete them, anywhere. Please help.
I've even done a security wipe and it still kept them.
Also, since the wipe bbm messages won't display in the top notifications bar. They'll come up with the notification but when I open it it just says 'No new notifications'

When you did the security wipe, did you select User Installed Applications? If not, I would recommend trying this first. If this does not remove the ringtones, please try uninstalling the ringones using the BlackBerry® Desktop Software. This KB article provides the steps, only instead of selecting the "+" icon to install, please select the "-"icon to remove the ringtones.

Regarding the issue with your BBM™ notifications, if reinserting the battery doesn't help, I would suggest backing up your BBM™ contacts and removing then reinstalling the application and testing again.

Custom ringtones for specific people lost upon hard restart.

Has anyone else noticed that the custom ringtones assigned to people when they call is lost when the phone is hard reset?
All of my ringtones come back, and the default ringtone is saved as one of my custom ringtones, but a specific ringtone for a specific person appears to be lost.
Am I just doing something wrong?

One time, when I did a software update, my ringtones reset and I had to assign them all over again.
I believe that was the only time it happened to me.

Custom ringtones for HTC Trophy

Anybody know how to get custom ringtones on the trophy? I tried via mobile17.com but i was not sure how to save the file to my phone, any help would be greatly appreciated

Correct. The only way to install custom ringtones right now is to hack the phone, and if you are inclined to do that, you can find directions over at XDA-Developers.com.

Custom Ringtones For Mail/Messages

Will you be making it so we can customize our own ringtones for mail and text messages ? (I know they add some of the default tones but I'm saying we make our own)

You should start by resetting your sync history and see if that resolves your issue. To reset sync history:
1. Open iTunes
2. On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
3. Click the Syncing tab.
4. Click the Reset Sync History button.

IPhone overrides custom label for phone number.

I use gmail as my main contacts manager, and I have a multiple phone numbers (for multiple countries that I frequent).
I label each number according to which country their for (e.g My 3UK number is labeled "3UK", my AT&T is labeled "ATT USA").
The problem arises when the iPhone overrides these labels whenever the respective sim cards are used.
When I use my 3UK sim card, the 3UK label gets overridden and labelled as "mobile". Then whenever I swap sims in the US, the ATT label gets overridden.
I really don't need the iPhone to be relabelling numbers for me.

Well, I cannot verify that behavior, as I do not use Google Contacts. Unfortunately, I do not do SIM swaps either, however I can say that when creating a contact, that the iPhone does not default to mobile, and I cannot recall that it did when I created my contact either.
I understand your frustration, but some of this could be controlled by information in the SIM, plus any carrier profile that could be in the phone. I would also say that it could be something done with Google Contacts, and this change occurs after a sync and/or refresh via Google.

Having syncing problems after installing iPhone OS 2.0 for the iPod Touch

Ok, after finally installing the software on my iPod Touch 2nd Gen, I tried to sync it, and it only syncs my pix and apps. It will not sync my music nor videos. It read " an unknown error has occured. (error 13019).
Has anyone else expericned this problem. It's starting to make me regret buying the upgrad software, specially since the iPhone and iTouch is basiclly the same thing. Donnt get me wrong it has the other features but I cant do the things that I orgianlly bought the Touch for.

Yes, I didnt unclick anything and and everything stayed the same since before the upgrade. I tried everything. And still nothing works!!!!

Remove custom masthead for administrator

Hi,
we developed custom mast head ,and in the master rule, we kept for "administrator: it should display as normal portal(with content ,user,system admin).. and its working fine.
now we added one more group to master rule to display custom masthead ,because of this ( i am not sure-this is the only change we did) now when i login with 'administrator' i am getting custom mast head instead of normal portal .
please let me know how 'administrator' can get normal portal screen , now?

If the group contains administrator also,then custom musthead also applicable to administrator,thats why it showing custom one.
Custom masthead rule you applied to the group is having the highest priority so when the administrator logs into the portal custom rule will be executed.(group contains administrator)
one more thing,
If multiple conditions apply to a user [ administraor,group(which includes administrator in your case) ] , the rule that is listed first will be applied when administrator logs in..(custom rule in your case)
if this is not the case try to restart the portal..
if you want to display default rule to administrator,
Replace the positions of cutom rule (2nd) and default one.(must be in 1st )
check if expression ,you have to add administrator as user (in if condition)and apply default rule in then condition.
and it must be first Rule collection in the order.
or
remove administrator user from Group..
