HELP

Many ppl have experienced problems sync/adding contacts/calendar entries to their ipod... me included - I never solved the problem but I found a work around, I downloaded Outpod (http://www.tucows.com/preview/396266) and all my troubles were over. It's a little utility which imports your contact/cal entries to your ipod... works really well although I know you should be able to do it directly through itunes.

So 10 point voor me myself.
You can give yourself a Solved but you do not get points for your own replies.
I knew that, I can read.

  • Syncing contacts from iTunes to iPhone 4s -got all my girlfriends contacts

Syncing contacts from iTunes to iPhone 4s
I upgraded my iPhone 4s to the latest os yesterday. My girlfriend and I use the same installation of iTunes, and for some reason I got all of her contacts copied to my phone. During the installation of the new os, I was told there was a conflict with the contacts and I was prompted to choose between to different sets of contacts both bearing my name but my girlfriends picture (!). I tried to skip this stage and moved on with the installation, and when I was done our contacts were all mixed up. When I later installed the new os on her iPhone (3), she got all of my contacts!
Is there a way to show iTunes what to put in which phone?

    Hello Hylan,
    There are a few possibilities.
First, make sure both iTunes and the iPhone are up-to-date.
Make sure the "Sync Address Book Contacts" box is actually checked in the Info tab for the iPhone.
You can try resetting the Sync history on the Mac:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
It could be an issue with the Contact database on the iPhone.
If your contacts data on the Mac is current (no contacts on the iPhone that are not in Address Book). you can replace the Contact data on the iPhone with a fresh copy from the Mac.
At the bottom of the Info tab for your iPhone, you'll find a checkbox for Contacts under Advanced -- this will replace the contact data on the iPhone when you sync. It is a one time checkbox and will be unchecked automatically after the sync.

  • Syncing contacts thru iTunes

Asked this in another thread... but didn't understand what those guys were saying, lol.
I was trying to figure out what syncing my contacts with iTunes would do, and if I even need it. Right now, I use Google contacts to sync my contacts with my iPhone. So, whenever I make a change with my contacts on my phone, Google reflects that change and vice versa. If I sync my contacts with iTunes what will that do? Will that just add an extra place where my contacts are stored, sort of like a backup? Will iTunes get in the way of my phone syncing with Google Contacts? Should I even sync my contacts with iTunes or leave it alone?

If you are already syncing your contacts between you contact program and your iphone, then you need do nothing more.
Itunes has no contact. You do not sync contacts to itunes. Itunes is simply the program that syncs iphone to your contact program.
Again, if your contacts are currently being synced to your satisfaction, then there is no need to do more.

  • IPhone 4s (7.0.2) hangs at 'Syncing Contacts' with iTunes 11.1

There seems to be a myriad of these various syncing issues posted; none of which have been answered and none that are exactly what I'm experiencing.
My wife's 4s (iOS 7.0.2) has been hanging at syncing Contacts on iTunes 11.1 (iMac; Mountain Lion) the past several days. It never gets past "Syncing Contacts".
Doesn't anyone have any advice. I've hard re-booted her iPhone; re-booted the iMac.
We don't have this problem with either my iPhone 5 (7.0.2), her 2nd-gen iPad or her old iPot Touch.
We share the same contacts and calendars across all of these devices and the iMac.

May have solved it so am posting back.
I had tried several times to sync the 4s after turning off the syncing of 'Contacts' (but telling iTunes to "retain" the contacts that are on the phone and NOT delete them). That managed to get through all other sync stages. However it still wouldn't sync completely; again hanging at 'Syncing Contacts' whenever I would turn that feature of the sync process back on.
Just this morning I opted to Repair Permissions on the iMac's hard drive. I noticed severl repairs made to iTunes-related files' permissions.
Tonight on the first try, the 4s synced trouble free.

  • Syncing contacts with iTunes without using iCloud

Since the new iTunes Version 11.1.3 it seems not possible to sync contacts, browser bookmarks and other things via WLAN sync. I don't want to see my contacts on Apple servers in order to be synced via iCloud.

  • IPhone 3Gs won't sync contacts through iTunes after 4.0.2 upgrade

I updated to OS 4.0.2 today, and since then my iPhone 3Gs will not sync contacts. All contacts have now disappeared from my phone. The group headings still show, but Contacts is empty. I performed a factory reset and restored my phone, but still no contacts. Even after repeated syncs.
I am syncing with Address Book through iTunes. I performed a one way sync each time from laptop to phone to avoid the phone overwriting my address book with zero data. I also backed up my contacts before attempting the sync, so the data still exists in Address Book, it simply won't appear in the phone.
I also tried to reset sync history - first by using iSync 'reset sync history' button, but that does not work these days as iSync does not see my iPhone. Then I tried looking for the reset sync history' button that Apple Support says can be found as follows:
"Open iTunes. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences. Click the Devices tab. Click the Reset Sync History button."
But - that button is not there!
    Any ideas anyone?

Did you try to set up your phone without using the latest backup? If you can, your other backup might be damaged and not usable anymore.

  • Can I sync contacts via iTunes with Mavericks?

I would like to sync contacts and calendars via iTunes (wifi or not) to/from my iMac and not use iCloud.  Can I do this?  If so, how?

  • SYNC WITHOUT USING ITUNE

can I stnc between computer and ipad without using itune?

What is the secret to syncing calendars, contacts, and notes without the computer?
Both my IPad and IPod are set up to sync thru icloud.  Plenty of icloud storage remaining, both units are plugged in; both are in sleep mode, but nothing syncs until I boot my computer and turn on the icloud control panel.  (I would like to leave it at home when I travel.)
And what is the secret to syncing the IPad and IPod with Outlook 2010? Sometimes my contacts, notes, and calendar sync, sometimes not; my notes rarely sync.  Must Oulook be closed? Open?  Must I manually open icloud each time I want to sync, even though the control panel is on the Windows 7 task bar?

  • HT201269 Couldn't sync contacts on itunes

I want to upgrade from an old iphone 4 to an iphone 5S, but I couldn't sync my contacts list on itunes.

What type of computer are you using? If it is a Mac with OS X 10.9, contact sync is no longer supported and iCloud is the new method. You can sync contacts from your phone to iCloud (and then also to your Mac if desired) and then to your new phone. Instructions on how to set it up for each device: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/ios.html
If you are using iTunes on a Windows PC more details about the contacts not syncing may help.

  • Can't find sync contacts in iTunes 11.1.2

After updated iTunes to 11.1.2 I can't find the option to sync my contatcs with my iPhone Some else have the same issue ?

I have not used the iCloud for anything except for Calendar app with only schedules and alerts.
If Apple requires iCloud to sync Contacts to the iPhone, how about putting Contacts in the iCloud - sync to iPhone - then delete or override the Contacts in the iCloud?
    from the iCloud help menu:
WARNING: When you delete a contact, it is deleted on every device that has the iCloud Contacts feature turned on. For example, if your iPhone and Mac have iCloud Contacts turned on, and you delete a contact with the iCloud Contacts web app, the contact is also deleted in the Contacts app on your iPhone and Mac.
Checked my iMac > Contacts > Accounts tab and it indicates On My Mac (Local). I click on the + at bottom and all are not checked. This might mean that I can delete the Contacts in icloud and not delete the iMac Contacts. Could this be a work-a-round to Apple’s turn to iCloud?

  • USB sync Contacts with iTunes

    Any thoughts?
