Syncing deletes podcast episodes.

Every time I plug in my iPhone 3g and syncs, one or two podcast episodes are deleted, and to make it come back on iphone i need to delete and download it again. Any one know whats going on?

What are your sync settings?
What are your podcast settings in iTunes under preferences(keep all, keep unplayed)?

Deleted Podcast Episodes Reappear

Old podcast episodes keep reappearing on iPhone. No matter how I try to delete, they come back. I do not have any podcasts on my computer, so not a syncing problem. The episodes reappear within seconds of my deleting them.

I have exactly the problem, made even more annoying when its one of my own podcast that had some corruption in the text!!

HT5772 How do I delete podcast episodes that I don't want to keep without having them stay in my List view in iTunes and clog it up? I have some episodes that I've listened to that I want to keep, but others I want to delete.

Using iTunes on my MacBookPro, I find that when I want to delete selected podcast eisodes, they still stay in my List view with the cloud symbol next to them. I don't want them in my List view. I want them gone. I don't want to download them ever again. I do keep some episodes so I don't want to do the draconian thing and delete all podcast episodes once I've heard them. The other problem I have with trying to delete episodes is that some podcasts then have the same episodes pop back up as though I haven't listened to them. I've deleted a bunch of Science Friday episodes only to have them download again ready to hear. Not only that, but some episodes will finish playing or stop playing in the middle of an episode and a random podcast will start playing. Think! does that. GAH!!
Does anyone know a workaround? The same nonsense happens in any iTunes view I try.

You can delete photos from individual albums but not from the camera roll. If you try to delete a photo from camera roll it will be deleted from all other albums ("locations") that contain the photo. This is because the actual photo is in the camera roll (the albums only contain links to the photo in camera roll, not the actual photo).

ITunes 7 attempting to sync all Podcast episodes regardless of selection

I don't know if it's just me, but iTunes 7 seems to be ignoring which podcast episodes I have selected to sync and which I haven't, instead attempting to sync them all then erroring. I can get it to work if I only sync new episodes, but I like to keep favorites of previous 'casts as well. Is this an annoying functionality change, a bug, or did I just miss a change in how to achieve my previous configuration?
*Also wanted to add that this now removes partially played podcasts since they're no longer "unplayed", and the "10 most recent/unplayed" options means I can't load whole podcast books anymore.

The solution Mark found is not working for me. After disabling "manually manage" to enable "sync checked", and then re-enabling "manually manage", it at first appears like "sync checked" will stay enabled. But after hitting the Apply button, "sync checked" turns off again.

Deleting podcast episodes permanently

I have an ipod, ipad, itouch, but my PC is not an Apple product. How do I delete a podcast episode from a device and keep it deleted from all devices? Whenever I update they come back....
Also, how do I delete all podcasts from my iPad only with the exception of video based podcasts, please?

You have to swipe left on the podcast/album you are trying to delete!
And on a mac:
Navigate to the music folder in your home folder, then to itunes then itunes media then podcasts then navigate around that folder and find the one you are trying to delete and TRASH IT!
or just select it in itunes and hit your delete key then select move to trash then your done!

Can't sync some podcast episodes

Certain podcast episodes will not sync to my 5th generation iPod. My iPod was setup to sync automatically and the podcasts were setup to sync all episodes of all podcasts, but there are 4 or 5 episodes that will not sync to my iPod. Other episodes of the same podcasts do sync properly. I changed the settings to manually manage my iPod, but when I dragged these podcast episodes from my iTunes podcast folder to the iPod icon the + sign never appears and if I try to drop the episode into the iPod's podcast folder it still refuses to copy. What's broken?

The files might be corrupted. Have you tried downloading again?

How to re-download a deleted podcast episode?

iTunes auto-deleted an episode of a podcast which I meant to save. (Batman from This American Life.) Now that I have heard the podcast, it no longer shows up in the episode listing. How can I get iTunes to re-download this episode?

In iTunes the podcast (This American Life) lists only one episode -- the most recent. Not the one I'm looking for.
The episode (Batman) also appears as an album available for purchase.
Before the unintended deletion, I did not need to pay for this downloaded episode. Does this mean if I want it back I have to pay for it? (Not that this is shocking; I just want to know if I'm missing something.) Is there any way I might retrieve the lost file from a backup or something?

Syncing deletes Podcasts!!

This is really driving me nuts. I download podcasts from iTunes on my iPhone. I don't download them first and then sync to get them on there I download them from the iTunes app. On iTunes on my computer I have the sync podcasts unchecked. Every single time I sync my phone with my computer it deletes all the podcasts I've downloaded! I've tried every setting to keep it from doing this. It's not just the ones I've already listened to it's all of them. It's getting really annoying to have to keep redownloading them. I don't want to download them to my computer first and sync them because I don't sync my phone very often. Does this happen to anybody else and if there is a fix please pet me know. I've searched the Internet and these forums and I haven't found a solution yet. Thanks for your help.

ITunes error when trying to delete podcast episode

iTunes 11.3.1.2
Windows 8.1 Update 1 (64-bit) with all patches through and including August 2014 "patch Tuesday" (first Tuesday of every month is known as Patch Tuesday).
Whenever I try to delete a podcast from iTunes I get an error "iTunes has stopped working...". The only option is to close iTunes.

How can I delete an extra copy of a podcast episode that I downloaded via the iPhone's iTunes app?

I downloaded an episode of a podcast using the iTunes app on my iPhone.
I listened to it, and then later synced it to my iTunes.
I have iTunes set to delete podcast episodes after I listen to them, but this one is still on my iPhone.
How can I get this episode deleted from my iPhone?
I have a Verizon iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0.1.

It's not clear from your post if you've tried downloading the app again from the App Store directly on your phone. If you haven't I'd give that a try.

Cannot delete podcast on iPod

Hello,
I need to add me into this AD, I cannot delete Podcast from my iPOD, using different computer and manually sync, deleted Podcast on my computer (all), but older Podcast still appear in my iPOD and even if I re-subscribe to the Podcast, the Podcast will not be visible in iTunes or even is able to be deleted. Please get a workaround done.

By accident (I have read the manual), and I have found a solution.
You've saved some Podcast on your iPod but these Podcast doen't appear in your iTunes Libary so you're not able to delete them from your iPod.
Just opoen the Folder Movies/Podcast on your iPOD
The Podcast will be shown on your iPod
Swipe with your finger from left to right or rigth to left over the podcast; you will see that your iPod will open the "Edit" menue were you're able to delete selected Podcast.

Not synching certain podcast episodes

I am trying to manually sync certain podcast episodes onto my Ipod 80gb but for some reason I am able to drag some to the Ipod but others I can't. I don't understand why it's doing that. Can someone help me out please?

There are only ten episodes in the feed, which has been constructed in WordPress. In common with many of these podcast creation programs or services, Wordpress limits the number of episodes which appear in the feed: once this limit is reached it moves older episodes to an archive page and thus from the feed.
There is usually a setting to allow you to increase the number of included episodes (iTunes allows you up to 300).

How do I remove a podcast episode from my iPod touch that has been deleted from iTunes?

I have a podcast episode that I would like to delete from my ipod touch. I have removed the episode from itunes, but it remains on my touch when I sync. I have even deleted the podcast from itunes, sync, and it still remains. I am able to download and delete new episodes, but no luck on removing this episode. Podcasts app won't remember played episodes and automatically deletes played episodes.

I'm using an iPhone 4, iOS 6. I run a Mac and have set podcasts to keep 1 most recent episode. It simply will not honor this setting. Tried deleting/reloading Podcasts app won't remember played episodes. It will randomly decide all xx previous episodes are new and unplayed. Even after marking all as played it will show it as such and then an hour later revert. This is not shown on my home computer or on an ipad or what not just FYI. It automatically deletes played episodes. I'd like to keep the most recent episode of all the podcasts I subscribe to and only delete once the new one is downloaded. In case I want to refer back. It regularly deletes them, requiring me to redownload the episode and annihilating my data cap. It just won't actually sync or work correctly at all.
Any advice or help is very much appreciated. I hate to vent; it is just exasperating.
PS: I understand many people like third party providers and you'd think I'd have done that given how much I listen to podcasts but this ought to work and work like Amazon's whispersync. Whoever is in charge of this is a bozo that's blowing it and I hope they are aware of it.

I am also having problems with 100s of played podcasts being listed. Like others, if I delete a podcast, it reappears as unplayed the next time I open podcast app in a WiFi zone. In the meantime, the app stops working while it tries to handle all the new info. Finally for some podcasts, it plays and old episode when I select the most recent. I keep selecting "Mark all as played" only to see 100s show up a few hours later. I would prefer played episodes not to be listed in menu at all!
I listen to podcasts on the subway without any ability to stream and prefer to access only from my phone and not have to fuss with computer.
I have read that if you delete the app to go back to using Music app, you can no longer download new podcasts but must do in iTunes. Is there any fix or workaround?

I started out with an Apple+ way back when. We came back from Christmas vacation to a faculty meeting where an AEA (Area Education Agency) employee was to introduce us to this new BIG DEAL - computers!
Afterward, the math/science people the superintendent expected to get so excited took a walk while his ENGLISH department learned to type 10 HELLO, etc. until you got a document window open and could enter text, AND CORRECT IT, causing it to print out WITHOUT mistakes. My typing skills were non-existent, so I went to the elementary teachers and borrowed a program they used to introduce students in second grade to the keyboard. (I was a jr./sr. high school teacher, and nobody could figure out why I'd never been taught to type.
Sigh.
I SURE HOPE THEY GET OVER THIS MESS IN A HURRY! I want to go back to i-Tunes 10+ whatever I was at, but Lion won't let me dump i-Tunes, as it is part of the OS. BUMMER!
Most of all I hate the sneaky way they introduced this, just like it was a regular upgrade, not something that would ruin our work methods of many year's standing and giving us NOTHING to replace it with short of scrolling down through 1700+ podcasts. UCK!
