Syncing deletes Podcasts!!

This is really driving me nuts. I download podcasts from iTunes on my iPhone. I don't download them first and then sync to get them on there I download them from the iTunes app. On iTunes on my computer I have the sync podcasts unchecked. Every single time I sync my phone with my computer it deletes all the podcasts I've downloaded! I've tried every setting to keep it from doing this. It's not just the ones I've already listened to it's all of them. It's getting really annoying to have to keep redownloading them. I don't want to download them to my computer first and sync them because I don't sync my phone very often. Does this happen to anybody else and if there is a fix please pet me know. I've searched the Internet and these forums and I haven't found a solution yet. Thanks for your help.

Every time I plug in my iPhone 3g and syncs, one or two podcast episodes are deleted, and to make it come back on iphone i need to delete and download it again. Any one know whats going on?

What are your podcast settings in iTunes under preferences(keep all, keep unplayed)?

  • Cannot delete podcast on iPod

    Hello,
I need to add me into this AD, I cannot delete Podcast from my iPOD, using different computer and manually sync, deleted Podcast on my computer (all), but older Podcast still appear in my iPOD and even if I re-subscribe to the Podcast, the Podcast will not be visible in iTunes or even is able to be deleted. Please get a workaround done.
    KN

By accident (I have read the manual), and I have found a solution.
You've saved some Podcast on your iPod but these Podcast doen't appear in your iTunes Libary so you're not able to delete them from your iPod.
Just opoen the Folder Movies/Podcast on your iPOD
The Podcast will be shown on your iPod
Swipe with your finger from left to right or rigth to left over the podcast; you will see that your iPod will open the "Edit" menue were you're able to delete selected Podcast.
    Have fun.

  • Is there a way to delete podcasts on an iphone without having them reappear on every sync?

I want to delete podcasts from my iphone after I am done listening to them, which works like a charm. The problem is that every time I sync, it download them again! For some reason the Iphone and ITunes refuese to talk to one another to ackowledge that I have deleted a particular podcast and Itunes dumps it right back onto my phone.
It's like a vampire that keeps coming back.
Is there a nice simple (Apple should be good at that...) way to delete them once and for all? I looked for a "When I delete songs I really mean delete" checkbox but there is none.
Why would they allow you to delete something if it will just come back and clog up your memory on the next sync?

    Same thing here with me!!
I like to have auto download setting on my itunes so i get the latest 'Harvard Business Review' podcast. I started getting into podcats about 6 months ago and think they're great!
I downloaded them all as there is some catching up to do!
I want the latest podcasts downloaded.
Podcasts that I have listened to partly or fully gone off my iphone! and not synced back on
Podcasts that I have chosen to delete off my iphone, not synced back on (some weeks they discuss a topic which really does not interest me in my field.)
..I dont want to manually tick them all either!
    Any help appreciated!
It seems to make perfect sense for me to manage these this way from my iphone (as a podcast is for listening on the go!), yet doesnt seem possible?

  • Deleted podcasts return when syncing with itunes

My podcasts sync perfectly from itunes to my ipad & iphone.  However, when i listen to an individual podcast or delete the entire subscription from either my ipad or iphone i have aproblem.  They are deleted from my device but when i next sync with my itunes on my pc, all the deleted podcasts or subscriptions are put back on my device.  I want them to be deleted from my Itunes not put back on my device.  Obviously i dont want them any more.  When I delete an app from my device, it is deleted from my itunes library for that device. I know it is still in itunes if i need it but itunes doesnt keep putting it back on my device.  How can I get podcasts to either act the same way as the apps do, or get itunes to actually delete the podcasts i have deleted from my device??

Are you using the "Podcasts" app on your device?  If so, then that app manages all your podcasts locally on your device.
If you aren't using the Podcasts app on your device, then your podcasts will be managed by iTunes, and updates downloaded to your device whenever your sync it with iTunes.  Deleting an episide on your device will temporarily get you space back on your device, which might be helpful temporarily in case you need the space for something.  The next time you sync, iTunes will repopulate any episides that are missing from your device, unless you've marked them as played already, or otherwise changed something in iTunes to prevent them from copying back to your device again (delete them, take them out of whatever smart playlist you are using to send podcasts to your device, etc.).

  • ATV sync keeps looking for long-deleted podcasts

Everytime I sync my aTV with my iTunes library, it attempts to sync long-deleted podcasts, 18 of them from 2007. I then get the inevitable "problem" pop-up regarding how such-and-such file was not sync'ed because it could not be found.
My iTunes currently deletes old podcasts automatically, i.e. the preferences are set to keep the 10 most recent. And I don't get the above sync problem with any of my iPods. So I am at a loss as to why this is happening now with (and only with) my aTV.
    Thanks

i have the same problem, even telling me that it cant sync from long deleted podcast threads... so annoying.

  • Newbie. Using Mac. I synced without deleting podcasts. My first sync

I have been able to delete one at a time 12 min Adobe Creative Suite podcasts by Terry White. If i could get more than one deleted I would have space in my IPOD Touch 32. I feel so dumb. My first sync. I took so long setting up mail I am afraid to reset everything or restore I think the correct term
Since I filled up my ipod with all these podcasts and extra music which I had not double checked each album for duplicates, childrens stuff I don't need. What can I do to keep using this IPOD touch. It gave me the message no more syncing on podcasts as ipod full. I learned how to delete. When I found the message. Delete some movies. Any help appreciated. I have spent so many hours self teaching.
Also besides the thourough manual, any suggestions on IPOD Touch books to help one get acquainted. I have actually learned alot by accident. Like finding the delete command by dragging the screen open. I hate to bother. Please advise. 65 in San Diego and having a ball even if did screw up.

Thank you for speedy help. Trouble is, I highlighted a folder of video podcasts and copied them and attempted to drag to desktop folder named: podcastarchivedate> trouble is nothing drags. so being as i have had dislecsia of drag and drop as I was a former Windows copy paste person. I tried paste . nothing goes. spent a long time and give up for now.
I asked Apple tech supprt why I culdn't burn a copy of my purchases on my laptop to add to my Library. He said I had to first put a cd or dvd in the slot then give command. the command in itunes for backing up to CD/DVD is greyed out. He said it was because I didin't have a cd in for burning. I don;t use Apple's burn folders. Have problems so I use Toast 6, which I also have problems sometimes dragging and dropping. I will try burning these movies on Toast in am when not so frustrated. I will let you know if I have better luck later. Please send any other advise. I must be doing something wrong. It seems so easy to make a folder and put something in it. I am a big Photoghop/Lightroom user and it has been my biggest hurdle. There must be something different in folder creation and file movement on Macs that I just keep doing wrong. I can't type on these new Apple keyboards. I need one like the original. Any advice

  • BUG: Deleted podcasts on iPhone, get re-copied when doing Sync...

on the iPhone, its possible to delete podcasts if you're done listening/viewing them...
however, iTunes will continue uploading the same podcast, over and over again until you delete it in iTunes...
    W-T-F !!
    *Apple sox @ Sync*

I don't believe that this is a bug but rather a design choice. You can only change syncing options from iTunes. However, being able to delete a podcast or movie from your Touch/iPhone allows you to free up space to add other things using from the iTunes Store when you are away from your computer. I think this is the way it was intended to work.
Whether or not you agree with the decision is another matter. Submit your feedback to Apple:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
    Best of luck.

  • How can I sync a podcast in iTunes to Podcasts app, but not Music app

When I first got the podcast app I had three podcasts set to sync to my iPhone. Two were podcasts I'm subscribed to via iTunes Music Store and one is a podcast downloaded from a website as individual files (I changed the type to Podcast). The first time I lauched the Podcasts app all of them were there and I was happy. Even though they were now in my Podcasts app I subscribed to them from the app (except for the one that I didn't get from iTunes) I then turned off podcast syncing in iTunes so it wouldn't sync podcasts to both my Music app and my Podcasts app. Maybe this wasn't necessary but I didn't want duplicates and I found nothing online telling me if syncing would result in two copies or not so I chose to turn it off.
Now I've listened to all of the episodes of the one I downloaded from a website and I want to put more, newer episodes of it on my iPhone. However, I can't figure out how to get them from iTunes to the Podcasts app. The only thing I can think of would be to turn on syncing again but as mentioned above, I'd like to leave syncing off.
    Any help appreciated.

Unfortunately since the Podcast App is not part of iTunes, you cannot sycn from iTunes.  You have to subscribe to the podcast from inside the Podcast App.
Do this by clicking on the gear in the top right hand corner. Then turn "Subscription" on.  While you're here decide with order you want to sort them, oldest or newest first.  Be aware that, to my knowledge, your IOS device must be awake to download the podcasts you subscribe to.
To delete podcasts you've listened to, simply swipe from right to left on the podcast and tap on the delete button when it appears.  This is done by individually, just like in Mail. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a way to select multiple episodes to delete at once.

  • A deleted podcast is still somewhere in itunes?  can't find it?

I thought I had deleted a particular podcast but I noticed that this one kept syncing to my ipod and showed up on the apple tv. When I went to the folder through finder I found this podcast was still on my system although I saw it nowhere in itunes. I deleted the file manually.
Now, when I sync my ipod, I receive the message that this particular podcast could not be found to be synced. I've done a search by name through itunes and can't find any reference to this now deleted podcast or why it's attempting to sync it.
I've repaired permissions just for kicks. I've re-booted for kicks. Nothing helps.
    I'm stumped. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

more info...I have a smart playlist that syncs certain podcasts that I've put a star next to. I did find a reference to this podcast in the smart playlist which means it is noted with a star. But, when I go to the podcast directory, it is nowhere to be found. I can't delete the reference in the smart playlist b/c it's a smart playlist.

  • Deleting podcasts from iTunes library AND iPod?!? HELP.

I have 61 podcasts on my iPod and in my iTunes library.
I didn't want them anymore, so I unsubscribed and deleted the podcasts from iTunes.
I synced to my iPod, assuming that the files would be automatically removed.
    But they weren't.
I've tried checking and unchecking "Sync only checked songs and videos" on the iPod device page.
I've tried checking "Sync all episodes of:.." and then not checking any podcasts.
It's not worked so far. My iTunes is up to date and everything..my iPod charged..
Im wondering HOW do you delete podcasts - or any other music, videos...etc - from your iPod and iTunes?
Please help! Reply soon, I'm in desperate need.
    Thanks.

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
It appears that the mess resulted in the iPod seeing the computer/iTunes library as a new computer/iTunes library. If you sync to a new computer your iPod gets erased and the media in the iTunes library ends up on the iPod.

  • How to recover deleted podcasts from trashcan to iTunes?

    Hi,
I deleted several video podcasts, which are now sitting in the Trashcan, and I would like to 'undelete' them back into iTunes so I can sync them back to my iPod. How do I do this? Thanks. David.

Draging from the trashcan to the podcast icon doesn't work, nor does opening the podcast icon and attempting to drag a deleted podcast into the particular podcast folder within the iTunes library. Hmm, I may finally have an excuse to visit the local Genius Bar.

  • Deleted podcasts won't go to the recycling bin

I'm running the newest version of iTunes, freshly installed, in Windows 7. Most of my podcasts come from a backup that I dragged and dropped into my iTunes folder. I've done this before without any issues. However, now whenever I try to delete a podcast that I haven't recently downloaded, it will give me a dialog stating that the podcast won't sync if I delete it, and then the buttons "Delete Podcast" and "Cancel" Rather than the "Keep File" "Remove to Recycling Bin" and "Cancel" that I'm used to. Deleting does not send the podcast into the recycling bin as it is supposed to and as it used to, however; it instead keeps the podcast in the same file and removes the instance from iTunes. I don't want to have to delete every file twice. Selecting all files and clicking on Allow Auto Delete changed nothing. Repairing my install of iTunes did not change anything. It seems as though all other instances of this issue are many years old. Assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and system full control to this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.

  • Sync just podcasts across two computers

I have a new netbook. My desktop has iTunes. I have a lot of podcasts on there and I listen to them often through my iPod and sometimes through the desktop. All is well with syncing, I just delete listened to podcasts here and there on the pc and it keeps my ipod up to date.
The netbook I've been using around the house and really like listening to a few podcasts while I do work (or while I should be working on something but am reading something here or on CNN instead). After I listen to a podcast sometimes I'll pull up the same podcast on my ipod the next day.. Somewhat annoying and hard to keep track of when I have 30 something different podcasts, some don't have descriptive titles for each episode, and some update quite often.
Is there a way I could just sync the podcasts? I don't care about the music, I have my ipod and I'd listen to the music on there if I was to be on the laptop and wanted to hear music. It'd be great to listen to a podcast, delete it, and have it update that it was deleted on the desktop and therefore the ipod (or any combination of the three). It really seems like something that should be standard, people now have multiple machines that overlap in capabilities.. I listen or watch one podcast on the netbook while other days I might plug my ipod into the car and listen to the same show and the next I might just open itunes on the desktop and listen to it there while cleaning or something.
I don't want to update the ipod with both libraries, I just want the podcasts to all be working together
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

As indicated above, the solution is to use SyncTogether from Mark/Space.
You should never attempt to use a Palm device as a data 'carrier' to synchronize data, as severe record corruption will result.
The synchronization framework, including clients like the Address Book, iCal, iSync and the iSync Palm Conduit, as well as replacements for it like the Missing Sync for Palm OS and supplemental sync-aware applications like Entourage, Transmit and Yojimbo are not intended to support such procedures. You need to use a dedicated tool like SyncTogether or .Mac Sync to achieve what you want.

  • I have deleted podcasts in itunes, but how do I remove them completely from my 4s?  Not unsubscribe, but REMOVE, I have deleted podcasts in itunes, but how do I remove them completely from my 4s?  Not unsubscribe, but REMOVE

OK, so I have gone into iTunes on my desktop computer and completely deleted podcasts that I no longer want.  I synced my phone (4S) but the podcasts are still showing on my phone.  I am already unsubscribed, but I want to totally DELETE them.  Why is this so hard?
Also, why doesn't Apple bring back the right-click delete option in iTunes?

Under "My Podcasts" swipe down to reveal a search bar, to the left will be an "EDIT" button. Press and delete the ones you want. I agree it's not very intuitive, should just be like any app, hold down and either move or delete.
